Dolly Parton is a goddess. The 63 years old music legend and goddess on earth tells AARP Magazine about rumors of her impending retirement, ?After you reach a certain age, they think you’re over. Well, I will never be over… I’ll be making records if I have to sell them out of the trunk of my car. I’ve done that in my past, and I’d do it again.? Show them how it?s done, Dolly!
People Magazine has some quotes from Dolly?s AARP cover interview, and she?s just as sassy and lovely as ever. People calls her a ?country legend? but she?s a lot more than that. She?s a legend for all musicians, a legend for female businesswomen, a legend for the South, a feminist legend.
God, I could talk about how much I love Dolly Parton all day. She?s just that amazing. Did you know that she?s written more than 3,000 songs? And that she owns all of her songs - her whole catalog, which is why she?s so rich. Everyone covers her songs, and everyone pays her royalties.
At 63, country legend Dolly Parton has 80 albums, 25 No. 1 singles, 3,000 songs and even a theme park to her name. But the woman behind the quarter-billion-dollar empire says she’s still just a little ol’ country gal.
“Daddy would get up in the morning and work till he had to go to his job doing construction,” Parton says in the May/June issue of AARP. “Then he?d come home and still be workin’ on the farm till way after dark. We used to soak Daddy’s old feet. Mama had some kind of salve she’d made up for Daddy’s hands because they’d crack and bleed, and I remember rubbing Daddy’s hands with it.”
And those closest to her remember her at that same simple girl, she says, including husband Carl Dean and best friend Judy Ogle.
“They knew me before I became a star. They still see me as me,” Parton says.
She dismisses longstanding rumors of her and Ogle being lesbian lovers.
“We’re absolutely, totally honest, open, and comfortable with each other,” Parton says. “We’ve been accused of being lovers. We do love each other, but we’ve never been like that.”
But one thing is true, Parton adds. She’ll never quit music. “After you reach a certain age, they think you’re over. Well, I will never be over,” she insists. “I’ll be making records if I have to sell them out of the trunk of my car. I’ve done that in my past, and I’d do it again.”

It would make my life if Dolly Parton were a lesbian. I don?t know why, I would just love it. But she?s been married to Carl for something like 45 years, and she takes a very open-minded, realistic view of marriage. I?ve heard her say in the past that sometimes she and Carl need to be apart from each other for months at a time, but that it?s all good.

Dolly Parton just got quite a slap in the face from the producers of the upcoming ?Hannah Montana? film. They?d asked her if she?d reprise her role as Aunt Dolly, and she excitedly accepted. They didn?t say anything else to her, and lo and behold once the script came out, Parton discovered she wasn?t included.
It’s all over the Internet that Dolly Parton will be in the upcoming “Hannah Montana” movie, but Parton says she didn’t make the cut. “I’m not in the movie,” she said. “I wish I had been.”
According to Parton, producers had asked her early on if she would revisit her recurring TV role as Aunt Dolly in the film, due out April 10, starring teen sensation Miley Cyrus.
“I said I would love to! I assumed that they were gonna be writing me a part,” she said in a recent interview.
But her character was not included in the script.
Even though she’s disappointed, Parton said little kids still come up to her all the time, saying “Hi, Aunt Dolly!” The 63-year-old singer called doing the TV show “probably the best move” she’s ever made, since it introduced her to an entire new generation.
Parton is now blogging on her Web site and is active on her Facebook and MySpace pages.
“I feel like I came from the dark ages into the light ages. When I first started out, we didn’t even have electricity,” she said. “I was singing on TV before we even owned one. Now here I am in this high tech world. I don’t even know half of what the stuff means. But I’m on it.”

That stinks about not being included in the film, but at least Parton was able to take something good away from it. She has a vivacious, upbeat, infectious personality, and I?m not surprised that young kids would still get a kick out of her. It?s definitely been a good career move, all in all.
I can?t imagine why the ?Hannah Montana? producers cut her part. Dolly seems like a consummate professional who people would want to work with. It?s probably nothing personal and came down to the film?s length or some other technical or business issue. Nonetheless? let?s hope the producers at least send an apology her way.
