She?s definitely one of the most prolific comics/writers of her time, and last night (November 9) Tina Fey was given the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in Washington DC.
The ?Baby Mama? actress showed up at the Kennedy Center?s Hall of Nations to accept the honor, looking lovely in a black dress.
According to Gossip Cop, Tina is only the third woman to receive the Twain honor, along with Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg.
Other notable winners of the prize include Richard Pryor, Bob Newhart, Bill Cosby, and ?Saturday Night Live? honcho Lorne Michaels.

Following her uber-fun night at the Emmy Awards, Tina Fey was spotted catching a flight to New York City at LAX International Airport today (August 30).
The ?30 Rock? babe looked to be in good spirits as she strolled past the paparazzi, sporting sunglasses with a striped top and silver shoes.
Last evening, Ms. Fey was involved in all kinds of onstage action at the 2010 Primetime Emmys, beginning with the ?Glee? style opening number.
Tina also joined Matthew Morrison to present actress Kyra Sedgwick with her very own Emmy trophy.

Proving that funny girls can be way hot, too, Tina Fey showed up at the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards looking amazing.
The ?Date Night? babe donned a silver gown with black detail as she walked the red carpet outside the Nokia Theatre LA Live prior to the big show.
Fey also joined fellow ?Saturday Night Live? alum Jimmy Fallon for a fantastic Glee-style opening song and dance number.
In the skit, Fallon is in search of new members for the ?Glee? club and ends up recruiting Ms. Fey before turning down Kate Gosselin.

You know I love some Tina Fey. She?s smart, she?s funny, she?s sassy, and she?s not full of herself. But sometimes I hate the way she?s styled. Part of thinks that Tina just does what she?s told, that she trusts people who f-ck her up, style-wise. Another part of me think Tina just has really bad taste in fashion and styling, and that?s why she ends up looking like this. This is Tina on the red carpet for the New York premiere of Date Night, which comes out this week. What the hell is going on with her hair? HuffPo calls this hair ?the Snooki Poof? after that Jersey Shore girl. Whatever it?s called, it needs to stop.
While on the red carpet, People caught up with Tina about her ideal double date:
Though her ideal date night is eating at a cool restaurant and singing karaoke with her husband, Tina Fey would also love to spend a night out by going on a double date with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
“The first thing that I would do is make it very clear [to Pitt and Jolie] that there is no wife swapping,” Fey kiddingly told PEOPLE at Tuesday’s New York premiere of her new film Date Night. “I would lay that down at home before we even left the house.”
Once the rules were set, what would Fey, 39, and her composer husband Jeff Richmond, 49, have in store for the night’s activities? Forget dinner and a movie, the 30 Rock star would plan a competitive but friendly game of bowling.
“We would go bowling because I feel like I have bigger, stronger arms than Angelina,” said the SNL veteran. “I think I might be able to bowl better than her.”
As for Fey’s daughter Alice, the 4-year-old is already busy going on dates herself with other boys ? as in play dates.
“She’s good with the boys,” says the proud mom. “She plays nicely with both the girls and boys, but she can start dating in 50 years!”

Is Tina saying she doesn?t want to f-ck Brad Pitt? Because A) He doesn?t do that, he just talks and nuzzles like a little girl, and B) Tina is terrified of the beard of doom.
Did everyone see Tina and Steve on Oprah yesterday? They were both a little boring, especially him. I have no problem with Steve being a really nice guy, but Jeez, is he a boring interview. But I did love that Tina asked Oprah about Jamie Foxx - that was funny.
Oh, guess who else was at the premiere? Hugh Jackman! He must want a guest part on 30 Rock. If I was an actor, I would kill to be on that show.

Tina Fey shows the world that being a funny, talented writer doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a hideous mole person. You can be smart and sexy at the same time. I should know; I’ve made a career out of it. Out of being a hideous mole person, I mean. You’ve probably already noticed that being “talented” and “attractive” aren’t exactly prerequisites for having your own gossip blog.

The Immaculate Tina Fey is the April cover girl for Esquire Magazine! She?s promoting Date Night, the romantic-comedy (with lots of action) that Tina costars with Steve Carrell. Regarding the photos Esquire ?made? Tina pose for, Tina had this to say to the magazine:
“The idea of the photo shoot is something like my wild night out. The irony being that I don’t do that. I got an e-mail [from Esquire] with a list of the potential setups, and my e-mail back was like, Well, I need to decline being handcuffed to a bed. I won’t straddle anyone. I won’t make out with a cop. There are certain things, I totally get them as a premise. And they’re all good fun, and if I were a young single model, they would be appropriate, but, you know, I’m a mom. And my kid’s going to find this someday. I don’t want to be handcuffed to a bed in Esquire. What are you nuts? I’m not going to make out with a cop that I’m handcuffed to. I got to get my kid into kindergarten. I guess that’s more of a Montessori way of learning, when they handcuff you to things.”

Chuckle. She?s just so funny. So far, Esquire has only put up an excerpt of their article, called either ?Tina on the Real Tina? or ?Tina Fey’s Night Out? or whatever. I would have called it: ?Tina Fey: The Most Fabulous Bitch On Ice? or ?Tina Fey Rocks the Kasbah?. Or something like that. You know, mix it up a little. Try not to go for the obvious. Here?s Esquire?s piece, ?Tina on the Real Tina? (it?s just her accumulated quotes):

Here is the much-anticipated March Vogue Magazine cover with Tina Fey. It?s kind of a let-down, isn?t it? Instead of letting her look as normal-pretty as she usually looks, they airbrushed her into oblivion (taking off the famous scar on her cheek) and made her look ultra-tiny. Here is the whole Vogue slideshow - they put the most boring photo on the cover, some of the other pictures are cute. Do you think I?m being picky? When the cover ?leaked? a few days ago, people were really mad about how Tina looked. I?m the one trying to be reasonable! I mean, sure, the cover is pretty, but my biggest complaint is that it?s ?meh?. No personality. And Tina Fey has lots of personality. She isn?t some vapid model gazing into the distance. This is the woman who could verbally cut you and the sh-t would sting. Sigh? let?s see if the interview is any better:
Tina Fey sat down with Vogue for their March issue, and the Emmy-winning self-described normal girl also graces the cover, shot by Mario Testino.
The magazine also airbrushed off the scar by her mouth for the cover.
Anna Wintour writes in her editor’s letter, “there is nothing ordinary about her brilliance, her perceptiveness, or her beauty.”

Going Rogue: Ever since her devastatingly funny Sarah Palin impressions, she has for the first time in her life attracted unwanted attention–and hate mail. “People started projecting politics onto me,” she says. “There are people who hate me now because of that. The partisan nature of politics continues to appall me. I’m almost paralyzed by my inability to see things in black-and-white… I felt uncomfortable to be in that discussion. The weird thing is, when Darrell Hammond or Will Ferrell or Dana Carvey did an impersonation of a president, no one assumed it was personal, but because Sarah Palin and I are both women and people think women are meaner to each other, everyone assumed it was personal.”
Normal Girls: “I feel like I represent normalcy in some way. What are your choices today in entertainment? People either represent youth, power, or sexuality. And then there’s me, carrying normalcy.” Pause. “Me and Rachel Ray.”
The Skinny: “People will say, ‘Oh, fashion magazines are so bad, they’re giving girls a negative message’–but we’re also the fattest country in the world, so it’s not like we’re all looking at fashion magazines and not eating. Maybe it just starts a shame cycle: I’m never going to look like that model, so… Chicken McNuggets it is! And conversely, I don’t look at models who are crazy skinny and think I want to look like that, because a lot of them are gigantic, with giant hands and giant feet.”
The Power of Clothes: “I think women dress for other women to let them know what their deal is. Because if women were only dressing for men, there would be nothing but Victoria’s Secret. There would be no Dior.”
Hand-Me-Downs: When she was in grade school, a cousin gave her some hand-me-downs that included a “colonial-lady” Halloween costume. “It consisted of a bonnet,” says Fey, “and a burlap apron and a long skirt. And I would just wear it sometimes after school. As an outfit… It was the Bicentennial! People were excited!”
The VOGUE Cover: Her favorite moment: “I was posing for [Mario Testino] and he was talking from behind the camera and he was like, ‘You have to fliiiirt, darleeeng. You have to bee-leeve you are wuuuurthy to on the cover’ And then at one point he said very quietly, ‘Lift your chin, darling. You are not eighteen.’ And I was like, ‘You probably say that to all the 23-year olds.’”

And I?m still disappointed! Eh. The full Vogue piece is here, but I?ve only skimmed it. I think Tina is one of those comedians who saves her best stuff for her work and stubbornly refuses to give it away for free in an interview. Because I laugh ever two seconds during 30 Rock, and I usually find Tina?s interview mind-numbingly boring. Why the dichotomy?

Working her way into the weekend, Tina Fey was spotted on location for “30 Rock” in New York City on Friday (January 22).
Shooting in Rockefeller Plaza, the former “Saturday Night Live” funny-woman joined up with co-star Michael Sheen to shoot the day’s scenes.
Meanwhile, Miss Fey also recently said that she’s more than willing to help fellow “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin with his upcoming Oscar co-hosting duties, as needed.
“Anything he needs,” she said. “But I think they have a great staff of writers. I think I’m going to present, maybe. So I get to be there and watch it in person. I hope they make him sing and dance. A lot.”

Tina Fey is the November cover girl for Harper?s Bazaar, and the cover shot is? interesting. It?s not that Tina doesn?t look pretty, but I just don?t get the ?surprised? look on her face. Maybe she?s trying to show us she doesn?t use Botox? Perhaps. Tina?s a lovely woman, and I?m not really sure if this cover does her justice. The rest of the photos are pretty good though - any of them would have made a prettier cover (see slideshow here). The interview is great too. Tina, obviously, has a gift for one-liners and great, concise comments on pretty much any subject. Here are some of the greatest hits from the interview (complete interview here):
Tina on her daily routine: ?Work, come home, play, kid bounce, work again, go to bed.”
On her insanely busy schedule: “Sometimes I’ll be telling my husband [composer Jeff Richmond], ‘I think I’m cracking up. Sometimes you just need a minute to say, ‘I think I’m cracking’ and just acknowledge it. Last weekend, she started chanting, ‘Daddy is my mom! Daddy is my mom!’”
On playing Sarah Palin: ?I feel like I’ve probably not worn that wig for the last time. At some point, it will come out of the closet.”
On her new hobby, shopping: ?I’ve been shopping. I am no longer the least stylish woman in the room.?
On relating to her 30 Rock alter-ego Liz Lemon: ?I wanted her to be believable, and she’s based on a version of myself from before. Being a writer and first moving to New York … a lot of women live like that. It’s not that there is anything wrong with them or they are not together, intelligent, attractive women. It’s just that the numbers are off or something.”
On Botox: “You can point any kind of laser at my face, but I don’t think Botox is for me. I think it is bad. People who have too much, they look like their faces are full of candles — a shiny, shiny face. Yes, festive. A holiday candle.”
On being vain: “I have the camera frame me from the waist up. Sometimes. If there is a shot that is bad, I can take it out. That is why L.A. is so bad, because they can take your picture from any side. That is why people in L.A. maintain 360 degree fitness. I don’t have that kind of time.”
On her now-trademark glasses: “I don’t wear them very much in real life because I need them to see only far away. And I don’t wear them when I am dressed up, because then I would look like Tootsie. It is funny because some of the grandma, old Dynasty-style lighting tricks that I’d like to be able to do are problematic with glasses. You see the lighting instruments. You may see Lemon start taking her glasses off more and more frequently as the season goes on so it becomes Barbara Walters.”
On working out: “I like to delude myself that I’m in the old-Hollywood mode. I just tailor my clothes well and try to keep my skin clear. While it would be great to work out an hour a day, there is something inherently sort of selfish about it. I can’t do it.”

My favorite part is when she talks about the old tricks some shows or programs use to make the older ladies look good. Some shows really did stuff like Vaseline on the camera lens, or either very, very soft lighting or too-bright ?everything gets blown out? lighting. That?s what The View does - those ladies are practically glowing they?re so blown out. Man, I can?t wait for 30 Rock?s premiere. According to NBC?s 30 Rock website, it?s going to be next Thursday at 9:30 Eastern. Cannot. Wait. Lemon!

Tina Fey was the easy favorite for the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Emmy, and she ended up taking home the award Saturday night at the Creative Arts Emmys. The Creative Arts Emmys are the award show for most of the ?behind-the-scenes? people, like Make-up, Costuming, Editing, that sort of thing. But they always announce the Guest Star winners at the show, even though most of the big names don?t even bother showing up to support ?the little people?. Not Tina Fey, though. Tina showed up to support Team 30 Rock, and for what ended up being her Emmy win for guest starring on Saturday Night Live as Gov. Sarah Palin. Tina looked cute at the show, too. She wore a simple single-breasted black suit (with unfortunate shoulder pads) and a low-cut pale grey blouse.
Tina was up against: Jennifer Aniston (30 Rock), Elaine Stritch (30 Rock), Gena Rowlands (Monk), Betty White (My Name Is Earl), and Christine Baranski (The Big Bang Theory). It?s funny that she was up against two women she probably had a big part in casting (Aniston and Stritch). In her acceptance speech, Fey thanked former governor Palin, saying ?Mrs. Palin is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. Is Tina Fey an Emmy winner? You betcha. Fey received an Emmy Award on Saturday for her impersonation of Republican vice presidential contender Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night Live.”
Accepting her trophy for best guest actress in a comedy, Fey thanked “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels and her parents, “who are lifelong Republicans, for their patience.”
She was honored at the Creative Arts Primetime Emmys, which recognize technical and other achievements for the 2008-09 season and preceded next weekend’s main ceremony. Fey has the chance for more awards: She could repeat last year’s win as best actress in a comedy series for “30 Rock,” and the show also could again claim top comedy honors.
Justin Timberlake was another “SNL” winner Saturday, honored as best guest actor in a comedy series.
On the drama side, Michael J. Fox won the guest actor award for his turn on “Rescue Me,” and Ellen Burstyn was honored as best guest actress for “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
“I always wanted one of these,” Burstyn said, winning her first Emmy after being nominated five times. Neither Timberlake nor Fox were on hand to accept.
Kathy Griffin was host of the nearly four-hour ceremony, her trademark outrageous humor intact with risque jokes and filmed bits.
An edited, shorter version of the ceremony will air Friday on E! at 1 p.m. EDT.
The top network winner was HBO with 16 trophies, followed by NBC with 11. Fox and ABC each won eight awards, with CBS, PBS and Cartoon Network each claiming six.
PBS’ “Little Dorrit,” an adaptation of the Dickens novel, was the most-honored program with four awards. Several shows, including the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and “American Idol,” received three creative arts trophies.
Next Sunday’s Emmy ceremony, with Neil Patrick Harris as host, will air on CBS.

Oh, that?s nice about Ellen Burstyn. I remember that L&O: SVU episode she guest-starred in, it was devastating. Burstyn played Det. Eliot Stabler?s bipolar mother, who has never acknowledged her own mental illness. Burstyn has an Oscar and a Tony, so now she?s part of that elite club of people who have won the top awards in three acting forms - film, television and stage. There really are only a few people who have all three awards - there?s like Joel Grey, Liza Minnelli, Barbara Streisand, Mel Brooks and a few others. And now Ellen Burstyn, who totally belongs in that club, bless her heart. The big Emmy show comes on next Sunday!
