I know Kristen Bell isn’t exactly A-list material when it comes to the front meat department, but still, I was expecting a little more from her at her big Veronica Mars screening. Because c’mon, I know the fans have been waiting like 7 years to see this. And no, I’m not talking about that dumb […]

| Kristen Bell on celebrities calling paparazzi: 'I?m not here to come down on them' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Above is a photo of Kristen Bell at the Veronica Mars premiere in New York yesterday. Bell looked pretty great at most of her appearances this awards seasons with the exception of The Critics Choice Awards, where she wore way too much eye makeup. She repeated that misstep here, and was in a fug gothic-looking Monique Lhullier lace strapless gown with tulle overlay. The film is getting mixed to good reviews, with many reviewers saying that it’s geared to fans of the show rather than new viewers. It’s out in the US this weekend.
Bell and her husband, Dax Shepard, have taken up the cause of protecting children from aggressive paparazzi. Their daughter Lincoln was born about a year ago and they recently had their first run-in with unwanted photographers. As a result they called for a boycott of celebrity magazines that run paparazzi photos of children. They also started the hashtag #pedorazzi on Twitter.
Dax wrote an essay for the Huffington Post in late January titled “Why Our Children Should Be Off Limits to the Paparazzi.” Dax acknowledged that some celebrities do call the paparazzi to photograph family outings, but he had nothing but disdain for them. “It’s a vile notion [that celebrities call the paps while out with their kids], and I’m happy to say none of our actor friends do this. But if you really believe this happens, isn’t that all the more reason to boycott? Don’t you want to take that option away from those vomitus parents?”
The couple won a victory of sorts when People Magazine clarified their editorial stance last month on children’s photos. People did not adopt a “No Kids” policy, but said that they were sensitive to the issue and would not publish photos “taken against their parents? wishes.”
In a new interview with Huffpo Live, Kristen Bell spoke at length about her issues with the paparazzi, but she conceded that some celebrities do call them and that it’s their right to do so. This is a definite departure from her husband’s tough stance. Here’s some of what she said.
On an encounter with the photographer:
Bell: “First of all, they’re really rude and I don’t know where their mothers are, but I had a guy, just when I was leaving my interview before this, I was pulling into the garage, he was banging on the window and because I didn’t roll it down, he called me the C-word and he said, ‘I’m posting your hotel,’ as a threat saying there’s going to be more people now following you all the time? Aren?t you shocked I didn?t stop to pose for him? People act like animals and that?s just not okay with me… It’s absurd and it?s gotten to a point where we’ve just lost a humanity…?
On the importance of parental consent:
Bell: ?You cannot be stalking 6-year-olds…To me, it’s [about] consent. If a parent consents, that’s like signing a permission slip. Because I signed up to be an actress, I also signed up to be a parent and I take my role as a mother very seriously and you do not have permission to photograph my daughter. So, if someone gives you permission, that’s fine. If a celebrity sets something up, I’m not here to come down on them, but it really should be up to the parent.”
On the paparazzi?s dangerous behavior behind the ?cute? photos:
Bell: ?After having a baby and experiencing first-hand what goes into the foot soldiers in Los Angeles that procure these pictures, it?s really aggressive towards kids, it scares them and they?re running red lights around schools? Really all we?re seeing is the cute little snippet at the park, and what you?re not seeing is the kid who is followed by a group of strangers all day, which, in my book is just not appropriate.?
[From Huffington Post, received via e-mail]
I wonder if Bell has always thought that it’s somewhat ok for celebrity parents to call the paparazzi, if she’s just saying that to not offend other celebrities, or if she changed her mind after People Magazine’s essay on their “no unauthorized photos of kids” policy. If Bell has felt this way from the beginning, she’s differed from her husband’s belief that it’s despicable for parents to call the paparazzi. She makes a lot of sense here and I don’t disagree with her, it’s just hard to relate to this issue when it affects such a small subset of highly privileged people. I do agree that their kids should not be harassed.
A clip from Bell’s interview is below. Another clip is here and you can watch the full interview here.

| Kristen Bell in white Roberto Cavalli at the Oscars: staid or striking? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard invented that #pedorazzi hashtag and began speaking out against the paparazzi, I started to question my opinion of them. Maybe that’s not fair, maybe they should be lauded for speaking out against a system that harms children, even if their colleagues often benefit from it. Someone had to be the first, and they are asking the tabloids and consumers to think about how paparazzi harass and bother children, who have no say in the matter. Still, there’s something “off” about it for me, like a kind of smugness that doesn’t take into account the way their industry works, or the way the media and public support it. Maybe I just don’t want to see the status quo changed.
That’s what came to mind when I saw Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard at the Oscars last night. They’re no longer the quirky couple who eloped at a courthouse and posted twitpics of their dogs, they’re the couple who crusades against the paparazzi.
Kristen was in this white Roberto Cavalli beaded tulle fishtail gown which looks like something Sofia Vergara would wear. There were a lot of pale and white gowns last night, and I found it mostly underwhelming. Imagine this dress in a solid bright color and how much prettier it would be. She’s wearing Piaget diamonds.
Kristen hosted the scientific and technical awards, along with Michael B Jordan. Despite the fact that the Oscars clocked in at three and a half hours there were even more awards that we didn’t have to sit through. Think of how much more tolerable the Oscars would be if they would move most of the secondary awards to that technical awards ceremony, or to yet another ceremony. They need to shave at least an hour and a half from the broadcast, it was a bloated mess as usual.
Kristen tried to mix it up at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in this deep v-neck red Grecian gown. I don’t have a designer ID on this yet, but like her Oscars gown it’s a very popular cut and color. I’m not fond of the way it smooshes her boobs together.
Also in a pale beaded dress we have Sarah Paulson in champagne colored Elie Saab. This gown is quite pretty but it doesn’t have any kind of wow factor. It’s just a very elegant dress. Paulson was there to support her film 12 Years a Slave, which of course won best picture. She told Ryan Seacrest that she had just met Cate Blanchett that night on the red carpet, and that they are scheduled to start a movie together in one week.
In contrast here’s Viola Davis in green Escada. Viola said she chose the dress because “it fit” and green is her “go-to color.” I wish more ladies would have chosen bold colors on the red carpet last night. We had a lot of pale colors, very dark dresses, and metallics, but not many jewel tones. I guess that’s out of vogue this season, and it’s also what makes Davis stand out. I love her wavy hair! She should have worn just one bracelet, though, those two matching bracelets make her look like Wonder Woman.

The "House of Lies" star looked gorgeous in a one-shoulder black gown which exposed a bit of her midriff while her handsome co-host wore a black on black suit with no tie.
At the ceremony, two Oscars were given: The Gordon E. Sawyer Award to Peter W. Anderson for his work on 3-D technology and an Academy Award of Merit to the owners and operators of film-processing labs.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard welcomed their first child, daughter Lincoln, about 10 months ago. I believe they live in the same gated community as Justin Bieber, as they’ve said in the past that the parties at Bieber’s house can be loud. (Or maybe one of them has moved since.) So they live in a paparazzi zone, and they’re very aware of it.
The couple has not posted any photos of their daughter on social media, nor have they shared a photo in an interview, as some celebrities do. Paparazzi recently caught the first image of Dax and Kristen out with Lincoln. (I saw the photos and you can clearly see the baby’s face.) In response, Kristen and Dax sent a series of tweets asking consumers to boycott magazines that run paparazzi photos of celebrities’ children. The couple also pledged to not do interviews with those magazines.
Please boycott magazines that run pics of “celebrity children.” They shouldn’t be punished for who their parents are.

She?s never been one to shy away from uncomfortable conversations, and Kristen Bell made some pretty interesting revelations during her interview on ? Conan? last night (January 21).
The ?Forgetting Sarah Marshall? babe was in the house to promote her forthcoming ?Veronica Mars? movie, and ended up talking about her marital relations with husband Dax Shepard during her pregnancy.
Kristen noted, ?He felt like he was with a completely different woman,? when asked why Dax was ?really into? her gaining a bunch of weight during her term.
Apparently Shepard liked the idea of ?legally? cheating on his wife, though host Conan O?Brien felt it was ?a tad creepy.?
Of course, Bell fired back, ?Is it, or is it pretty cool because I was also involved and he kind of got a freebie that didn?t hurt anybody?s feelings??
Ah, touch!

Showing off her sexy style, Kristen Bell was all smiles as she posed up a storm outside Barker Hangar ahead of the 2014 Critics' Choice Movie Awards tonight (January 16).
The "Veronica Mars" beauty looked fabulous as she hobnobbed with fellow celebrities before heading inside to catch all the star-studded action.
The Broadcast Film Critics? Association tapped Aisha Tyler to serve as the host for this year?s festivities, as the best and brightest stars are honored at this unique ceremony.
Both ?12 Years a Slave? and ?American Hustle? are up for an impressive 13 awards, but with fellow nominees like ?Captain Phillips,? ?Dallas Buyers Club,? ?Gravity,? ?Her,? ?Inside Llewyn Davis,? ?Nebraska,? ?Saving Mr. Banks? and ?The Wolf of Wall Street,? the Best Picture category winner is far from predictable.

Taking a little time to pose for a few holiday pics, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard snapped a cute Christmas pic of the two of them together with their dogs in matching holiday pajamas.
The mother of one shared a picture of them together via Twitter on Christmas Day, (December 25), captioning it, "Roll call! Boys in green, girls in red: @daxshepard1."
The celebrity sweethearts stood in front of their Christmas tree holding up their two pet dogs, and giving the camera a cute, "glad-to-be-married" smile.
And although their daughter Lincoln, who turns 9 months on December 28th, wasn't present in the photo, they still had fun, Dax adding a quick description, writing, "To all the haters who think I ain't hard since leaving Detroit, deal with this sh-t,"
