The Billboard Music Awards really rocked last night. Whereas the Grammys were a snoozefest with the exception of Kendrick Lamar, the BBMAs were like a party where every performance brought in a fresh vibe. The highlight of the night for me was Celine Dion’s performance of “The Show Must Go On.” Celine was accepting the icon award, and she proved that she was every bit the icon with her emotional, raw performance. I know this is all professionalism and decades of experience but it looks so natural for her that it’s like she was born a star. She gave me goosebumps and even while rewatching it I started getting teary before she finished.
When it was time for her to accept the award, presenter Seal explained that Celine’s son, Renee Charles, would present her with it and that’s when she lost it. (Sidenote: Renee is 15 and he’s such a handsome young man! He looks like an actor.) Celine asked Renee to stay with her on stage and he stood there like a champ supporting his mom. She cried as she explained how hard it’s been without her husband, Ren Anglil, who passed away this January after a long battle with cancer. (Just know that I’m crying a little as I type this up.)
Celine thanked Lindsey Stirling, the violist who accompanied her, and she also thanked her fans and family. At the end she talked about her husband, and this part really got me. “Most importantly, my beloved husband, whom I know will continue to watch over me from up above.” She said something in French and held up her award. “Renee this one’s for you, the show must go on.”
Celine’s performance was just flabbergasting. I so want to see her in Vegas now. She’s only playing at The Colosseum up until June 4, but she’ll be back in September.

Cline Dion covers this week?s People magazine. As you know, Celine lost her husband, Ren Anglil, to throat cancer in January. Cline has since gone back to Las Vegas to perform in Cline, her three-year residency at Ceasars’ The Colosseum. Even though she lost the love of her life, Cline says her priority is to stay strong for her kids, which means she has to keep moving forward. As evidence of this, she has chosen Queen’s The Show Must Go On to perform this Sunday at the Billboard Awards where she will receive the Icon Award.
It’s been four months since Cline Dion lost “the love of [her] life” Ren Anglil to throat cancer at age 73.
Though she’s dealing with unimaginable heartbreak, the singer tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story, “I really, really want to prove to my kids their mother is strong.” For Dion, work has become her safe haven. She’ll be taking the stage at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards to receive the Icon award and performing a cover of Queen’s “The Show Must Go On,” a song title that had a strong significance in the couple’s romance and work relationship.
“Ren always insisted the show must go on,” the mother of three says. “You know what, I’m 48 years old and I lost the love of my life. I miss him a lot from when he was great but not when he was suffering. I cannot be selfish. You have to let people go. I feel at peace.”

I really like Cline. I said the last time I talked about her that she lives her life like an open book and I am the same way; lay it all out there, the good, the bad and the ugly. I completely relate to moving forward if there is nothing else you can do. Cline applied this mentality when she had the difficult task of telling her sons of their father?s passing. Cline explained on Good Morning America that she referenced the Disney movie Up, “The only thing I wanted is for them to say up, Up is a good thing. Up is uplifting.”
Also in her GMA interview, airing this morning and her first since Ren?s death, she explained how she stayed with Ren’s body after he had passed away.
The ?My Heart Will Go On? singer revealed she lay with Anglil in bed after he passed away, even putting a robe on Anglil, who was also her manager the father of her three sons.
?You were worrying for my career. You were worrying for the children. You were worrying for everything. It’s enough. Do you trust me? Please do. Trust me,? Dion recalled saying. ?The kids are fine. I’m fine. I promise you we’re gonna be OK. Please leave in peace. I don’t want you to worry.?

I think it’s beautiful that, in her deepest hour of grief, she was selfless enough to assure his parting soul to ?go on peacefully, I have this covered.? I am sure Cline and her boys will rejoice in their memories and continue to move forward in Ren’s spirit.

More sad news today. Celine Dion’s husband of 21 years, Ren Anglil, has passed away after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 73. Celine was open and honest with the press about her husband’s health issues, and shared her fears at losing him along with her gratitude at having him in her life. Ren is survived by his three children with Celine along with three adult children from an earlier relationship.
“Rene Angelil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” the rep said in a statement. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment.”
Anglil, who guided Dion’s career as her manager and mentor, is survived by the couple’s three children ? Ren-Charles, 14, and 5-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy ? and his adult children from a previous relationship, Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre.

Dion has announced the postponement of her Las Vegas residency and the cancellation of her tour of Asia indefinitely during this ?very difficult and stressful time.?
"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."

Giving her devoted fans some love, Celine Dion signed a few autographs outside the Dorchester Hotel on Friday (November 8).
While taking care of some media duties, the "All By Myself" songstress enjoyed a few laughs and smiles with her admirers waiting outside the hotel.
Recently, while on the Canadian television series "Le Banquie," Celine listened to her very own rehearsal clip of "Loved Me Back To Life" and found it completely hilarious.
While preparing for an event, the 45-year-old singer showed off her vocal prowess in what appears to be a restroom.
During the clip, Miss Dion couldn't help but crack up laughing, make funny hands gestures, and at point shed happy tears as she continued to watch.

Lord, I have become a late-in-life Celine Dion convert. I used to get so annoyed with Celine and her schmaltzy personality, but I?ve grown to love her over the years. She?s harmless and kind and she?s really sweet and generous to her fans. She knows how to stay private, but she?s not ?above? posing with her children. I had actually forgotten that Celine has twins now ? she gave birth to twins Nelson and Eddy in 2010, but we rarely see photos of them, and of course there is her oldest son, Rene-Charles, who is 12 years old now! Anyway, Celine has a new interview with Vegas Deluxe and it?s all about how she keeps her marriage, to Rene Angelil, so strong. Here?s a hint: he?s 71 years old! I mean, let?s be real. He?s super-old. That?s why their relationship ?works?.
Love is grand! Communication keeps love alive and well! Celine Dion and Rene Angelil have one of the most tender of love stories and longest of marriages in show business. Their relationship began 26 years ago, and they became engaged 22 years ago in 1991.
To this day, they still smooch, sometimes unabashedly in public with a peck on the cheek or a full-on lip lock. They still hold hands and wrap their arms around each other?s waists. In fact, it was a mutual love tap or gentle pat on their backsides that prompted me to ask Celine a question about her secrets to a happy marriage.
She had an instant, one-word answer: ?Communication.?
We were at the premiere night in Bally?s for their new singing discovery, impressionist Veronic DiCaire and her show ?Veronic Voices.? I joked with Rene, who is co-producing Veronic?s show, that he couldn?t run off with her because her voice is so incredibly identical to his wife?s.
Their love story is now of legend: Rene and Celine met when she was 12 and he was 38 after her mom sent him a demo tape. That was in 1980, and Celine was 19 before they had a first date. She was 23 when they became engaged. They married in December 1994 and will celebrate their 19th anniversary this December. In January 2000, they renewed their wedding vows here. After many years failing to conceive, Celine underwent treatments for in-vitro fertilization. Their first son, Rene-Charles, was born in January 2001 and, in October 2010, her fraternal twins Nelson and Eddy.

She?s one of the most prolific pop singers of her generation, and Celine Dion decided to skew a bit younger during a recent concert.
The ?My Heart Will Go On? songstress tackled one of last year?s most popular singles, ?Rolling in the Deep? by Adele, and definitely held her own.
Dion began the song by affirming her love for the English songbird and then launched into the heartbroken lyrics.
Of course, Adele's own version of the song is superior, but it bodes well for her that even an older, more mature singer appreciates her work.

Celine Dion is one classy, hardworking bitch. She was on The Today Show yesterday explaining what happened when she had to cancel five whole weeks of her show in Vegas, due to a virus that affected her vocal cords and singing ability. Celine was really matter-of-fact and cool about her medically-imposed hiatus, and basically said she doesn’t define herself by her voice. She said “I don’t depend on my success and my singing. Don’t get me wrong. I love what I do. But I don’t hold on to that. When you have children, you have accomplished a lot.” She went on to say that her house is full of playrooms and that the floor is sticky, and she sometimes gets Cheerios in her hair. Celine has son Ren-Charles, 11, and twin sons Eddy and Nelson, two and a half, with her husband of 17 years, Rene Angelil. She went through many heartbreaking miscarriages before she was able to successfully conceive her twins, and I remember well how open she and her husband were about their struggles.
In her Today Show interview, Celine was of course very gracious and well spoken about Kate Winslet’s diss of her classic hit “My Heart Will Go On.” As you might remember, Kate said that the song, the theme for her seminal film Titanic, makes her “feel like throwing up when I hear it,” and that it’s often played in her honor when she walks into restaurants and bars. It was kind of obnoxious, but that’s Kate for you. (Although I thought it was pretty funny.) When Celine was responding to the question about Kate’s diss, she swallowed a little bit and you could tell it bothered her, (that’s at around 3:45 in the video above) but she then went on to talk about how the song made her career.
The way I see it is that ‘My Heart Will Go On’ gave me the opportunity to be associated with a classic that will live forever. If I just count how many times I’ve sung it, maybe it’ll get me sick. If she feels tired just hearing it, and, like, throwing up, I’m glad she was not the one singing it.

Then Celine went on to say that her son likes Eminem and that “who knows” if she’s going to collaborate with him someday. She’s really cool, I enjoyed watching this interview a lot. (Although I still remember how she had the “Ridiculous Pictures of Celine Dion” Tumblr taken down. That was not cool.)
Winslet should take a page from Celine Dion. It might be annoying to hear the same cloying song over and over again, but tell that story to your friends. Tell the press that you’re grateful that the movie/song helped make you successful. Titanic will probably remain the highest grossing film of Winslet’s career (to quote Wiki) and it’s definitely what she’s known for. It’s not like she’s doing superhero movies now. Have some tact.

She?s back on the Vegas stage with a fabulous new show, and last night (March 15) Celine Dion held a press conference following the opening night of the gig.
The ?It?s All Coming Back to Me? songstress looked snazzy in a grey suit with nude heels as she addressed the crowd at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino.
The show?s promoters are hoping that Dion?s new act will boost Sin City?s sluggish economy that resulted from the recession.
Rather than the dramatic theatrics of her old show, Celine has elected to focus more on singing her massive catalog of hits as well as some classics from Old Hollywood, complete with a 31-piece orchestra.
