John Mellencamp & Meg Ryan got together in late 2010/early 2011. There were some tabloid rumors that John dumped his long-suffering wife when Meg came around, which I sort of believed at the time. I also believed that John was and is a dog who cheats on whichever significant other he?s with at the time. Anyway, John and Meg?s relationship was pretty low-key. They never did red carpets together, they never did ?proclaiming our love of social media? thing. They didn?t shy away from the paparazzi, but the paps only got shots of them every four months or so. Anyway, it?s over now. Huh.
Closer Weekly can exclusively reveal Meg Ryan and boyfriend John Mellencamp have called it quits after three years together.
One of John?s friends tells Closer the duo ?split a couple of weeks ago.?
The friend explains privacy may be to blame for the break-up. ?I don?t think he loved all the attention he got just from dating an actress,? the pal shares. ?I bet he?ll stay away from dating another famous person for a while.?

I can see how Mellencamp wouldn?t be too jazzed about getting attention for who he?s dating, but? it seems like that excuse is coming too late. Their pairing got more attention in 2011, but there?s barely been anything written about them in months, maybe even a year. No one really cared. They had a crusty love and most of us just sort of accepted it and moved on. So? obviously, I think there was another reason for the split. Maybe another woman?

Making her directional debut with an old friend, Meg Ryan is teaming up with Tom Hanks for her new coming-of-age movie entitled, "Ithaca."
The new flick releases as the film adaptation of William Saroyan's classic 1943 novel, "The Human Comedy," and the synopsis states that, "Homer Macauley is left at home in Ithaca, CA, to care for his mother, sister, and little brother, Ulysses, while his older brother fights in World War II."
Adapting the script from Erik Jendresen, Meg Ryan will also play a lead role in the movie, alongside Melanie Griffith, Jack Quaid and Sam Shepard.
Gary Goetzman and good friend, Hanks will act as executive producers, and "Ithaca" will also be released internationally, appearing on Berlin's upcoming European Film Market.

Here are some new photos of Meg Ryan and her boyfriend John Mellencamp taking a walk in NYC yesterday. John had a cigarette and Meg had a bottle of water. They?ve been together for about THREE YEARS. Can you believe that? It feels like yesterday that we were shocked that they had become crusty lovers. And now they?re something of a quiet but established couple. I haven?t heard any drama about them in years. I think they just live in NYC with Meg?s adopted daughter Daisy and they live a relatively quiet life.
But that kind of quiet life is expensive isn?t it? I?ve been wondering about Meg?s finances for a while, and I think the moves she?s been making show that Meg needs a cash infusion. First, she managed to get herself a People Mag cover story a few weeks ago, even though the story was just ?she?s not living in LA anymore, her life is quiet nowadays and she?s not interested in living the Hollywood lifestyle? blah blah bullsh-t. You know why it?s bullsh-t? Exhibit 1: that face says (to me) that she still cares very much about an LA lifestyle. That face says ?I?m terrified of looking even a little bit old, please see me as the sexy, bubbly rom-com queen again!?
So, the People Mag thing was the first step. The next step was actually securing Exhibit 2: a job. In the past few years, Meg has only done some guest spots on TV shows, she hasn?t done a movie since 2008. Well, now she?s scored a lead role (and a producer credit) in her own NBC pilot. The show will be about ?a sunny, devoted and desperately non-confrontational single mom who decides to return to work at her former publishing house, where she will be supervised by her 30-year-old former intern.? Sounds like a total loser to me, but then again, I?m not a former movie star who needs $$$.
Also on part of her master plan ? pap shots of herself and her boyfriend. So enjoy.

Here are some new photos of John Mellencamp and Meg Ryan in Rome. Yes, they?re still together. That surprises me too. John and Meg got together in late 2010, when he was still married. I feel pretty strongly that there was some overlap between his last marriage and his relationship with Meg. Since they got together, there have been reports of ?secret engagements? and ?secret weddings? but thus far, no official announcements have been made. I don?t think they?re married, but they might be engaged. Meg does seem to be wearing some kind of band on her left hand ring finger, for what it?s worth.
John and Meg seem to go to Italy on vacation at least once a year. Rome must be their romantic destination of choice. It?s kind of cute. I used to call them ?crusty? but I?ll try to be nice now. They?ve been together for more than two-and-half years, which constitutes ?the long haul? for musicians and actresses.
Also: Meg?s face seems somewhat settled after some really bad work several years ago. I still think she?s getting lip injections or something though. John must like her lips plump. Ugh. Gross. If she does that for him, maybe he could give up the cigarettes?

Aw, crusty love! Crusty ITALIAN love. Here are some new photos of Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp in Rome, Italy this week. Meg brought her daughter Daisy, John brought his smokes, and they?re all having a grand old time. I actually can?t complain too much about these photos, because I honestly, genuinely find them cute. Here. Nowhere else. Rome agrees with them, and I like seeing the two of them being affectionate (and crusty). There are a few photos where Meg seems like the Sienna Miller of the relationship - you know, the ?Pay attention to me! We have to be touching! We have to be canoodling! You have to pay attention to me at all times or you don?t really love me? type of woman. But as the photo set went on, it just seems like John might be a little drunk and Meg is just being sweet to him. I especially like the photo of his head on her shoulder.
At one point, as they were sitting on this little bench, a dude came over and tried to sell John a red rose for his lady. John and Meg both refused the flower, reportedly telling the flower salesman ?Romance is dead.? Okay, that?s not so sweet. Meh.
One of the last reports about Meg and John was that they were planning a quick wedding just as soon as his divorce from his third wife, Elaine, comes through. That WAS supposed to be this month. Meg?s rep denied the story at the time, but I still think there?s a good chance these crusty lovers will make it official at some point. They?ve been together all year now - well, actually, they probably got together last year, but officially it?s just this year. Will Meg jump into a marriage with a dude who refuses to buy her a red rose?

Last we heard from our favorite crusty lovers Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp, they were still going strong, they were loved up all over the country, and John had maybe asked Meg to get pre-engaged. It?s the Jumpoff Fairytale! According to this week?s Enquirer, John has stepped up and actually proposed to Meg for real. And she accepted, and they?re planning July nuptials. So what?s the problem? John?s not technically divorced yet. Of course, he was still technically married when they hooked up, so this too shall pass, Meg. By the way, for those you who think I?m using ?crusty lovers? as a cut on their ages, I?m not. I?m saying ?crusty? because that?s how they LOOK. Like they haven?t bathed. Like they smell bad. Dumb hippies.
Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp are planning a July wedding, the Enquirer has learned exclusively - but there may be a problem. He?s still married!
When the couple recently revealed their marriage plans to family members, ?John?s children were shocked,? said a family insider. ?They don?t think their dad should be getting married so quickly. But she?s telling them that Meg is the woman he always wanted and that?s that.?
John filed for divorce from Elaine Irwin in January. However the split has not yet been legally finalized. The breakup came shortly after John and Meg were photographed walking arm-in-arm in New York, although sources said Elaine has been upset for years over John?s wandering eye.
Since then, John and Meg have been inseparable. Meg attends all of John?s concerts and recently they were spotted on a romantic getaway in Cancun. Even though Meg?s publicist denies there are wedding plans, the insider insists the couple is already working up a guest list for the nuptials, which john wants to have at his Indiana estate.
?Jennifer Aniston and Kenny Chesney are already on the list,? said the insider. ?John is planning to throw a huge party outdoors on his property, right by Lake Monroe, which is adjacent. He?ll be performing with his band and so will a lot of his musician friends.
But John will have to quickly finalize his divorce so the wedding can go off as planned. He is trying to end things amicably with Elaine: ?He?s saying he?s going to invite Elaine to the wedding.?

Oh, that should be divine. I hope he DOES invite his new ex-wife to his wedding with his jumpoff. And I hope Elaine goes, gets tanked, and decides to toast the happy, crusty couple. They should sell tickets.
By the way, Meg?s rep denied the July wedding story to E! News. But I don?t much stock in that, considering Meg?s rep also issued a half-assed denial about her relationship with John AFTER they had been photographed together, looking crusty and loved-up. So, will this marriage happen? Considering that Elaine will be John?s THIRD ex-wife, I?d say that he?s one of those dudes who always has to be in a relationship. You know those guys. The ones who can?t be alone for two seconds or they fall apart. That?s John. So I?d say that as soon as he?s officially divorced, he?s probably going to try to marry Meg.

And they said it wouldn?t last! And by ?they? I mean ?me?. These are new photos of Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp in LA yesterday - the first new photos we?ve had of them in a little while. Did they realize that they were coming across as kind of gross with their daily photo-ops when John first dumped his wife? Perhaps.
Anyway, Meg Ryan really has won the Jumpoff Prize, hasn?t she? John Mellencamp dumps his wife and takes up with Meg, and they?re still going strong after? what? Like, six months? That?s pretty good, though. Hey, at least his jumpoff isn?t some 20-something ?trainer? or something, right? He likes his women like? this. Forty-nine years old and wearing a belly shirt. Ugh.
According to onlookers, ?As they strolled on Melrose Ave., Meg and John could barely keep their hands off of each other despite the paparazzi presence.? The were also recently spotted in NYC a few days ago. According to a NY Post report, they were ?kissing and canoodling? as they ate at Breslin Bar & Dining Room. It seems that Meg ?couldn?t be happier. Not only has she got a great new guy, she?s back in the headlines. It?s not easy going from being one of the highest paid actresses in the world to an anonymous New Yorker. Meg?s loving all this attention again. Meg would much rather be back on the cover of the magazines announcing a hit new movie, but unfortunately that isn?t the case. Now folks are much more interested in your private life than if you have a hit movie. Look at Kate Gosselin or Kim Kardashian. They are always on magazine covers talking about their love life.? Is that who Meg thinks she?s ?competing? with? Kim Kardashian and Kate Gosselin? Oh, Meg.

Yesterday, Meg Ryan took her new lover John Mellencamp out for a little photo op. I seriously think they must have called every photo agency and paparazzi they knew, because these photos are everywhere. I guess this is what new couples do now to announce their relationship. The old way - walking on red carpet together - isn?t available, because Meg barely works anymore (because of her jacked face). Anyway, the body language: Meg is all ?Can you bitches shut up about how I?m a homewrecker now?? and John is all ?Whatevs, I got my jumpoff and my cig, it?s all good.?
By the way, CB wants me to point out the smoking thing specifically. Apparently, back in 2009, John?s 14-year-old son used Facebook to wage a campaign to get his dad to stop smoking. Looks like that took, right? Do you think his son is kicking himself a little bit, thinking that he was maybe focused on the wrong thing? I mean, we still haven?t heard anything from John?s estranged wife Elaine, but I?m seriously waiting for her side of things.
Also - what the hell is Meg wearing? Ugh.

Not ones to be coy when it comes to love, Meg Ryan and John Cougar Mellencamp were together again in New York City on Wednesday afternoon (January 5).
The ?Top Gun? actress and the ?Jack and Diane? singer hopped out of a black chauffeured car with the 59-year-old rocker lighting up a smoke shortly thereafter.
Rumors of coupledom sparked over the weekend when the blonde babe and the newly single rocker spent New Year?s together in the Big Apple.
The news comes less than a week after Mellencamp's spokesperson announced that the singer had split from his wife of 18 years, but insiders claim the couple had already parted ways when the rocker reportedly first stepped out with Ryan in November.
