Making headlines for her budding romance with rocker John Cougar Mellencamp, Meg Ryan was spotted tending to her motherly duties during a New York City outing on Wednesday morning (January 5).
The "Sleepless In Seattle" actress dutifully held daughter Daisy True's hand as she escorted her little girl off to the local schoolhouse for the day's lessons.
As for her Mellencamp hookup, a source recently dished to PopEater, ?Meg has liked John for a long time, and they are very comfortable together. They already looked like an old married couple when they strolled through [New York's] West Village or spent time on Martha?s Vineyard."
The insider added, ?They don?t care what people say. They are in love. Meg has a thing for famous men. But [John] is great with her adopted daughter [Daisy True] and has even met her son with Dennis [Jack Henry]. As far as Meg is concerned, life is too short to not grab happiness when it comes along. She has nothing to prove to anyone.?

I hate being wrong. I especially hate making a bad call about a wife-dumping/jumpoff-grabbing situation. On Sunday, I WRONGLY made a judgment call and gave John Mellencamp the benefit of the doubt regarding the report that John had basically dumped his model-wife Elaine after 20 years of marriage, all for Meg Ryan?s jacked face. Well, I?m sorry. I apologize for giving Mellencamp the benefit of the doubt. He?s a jag. I shall never make the same mistake again. So? People Magazine just put up this story - a confirmation that John spent New Year?s with his jumpoff, Meg Ryan. It?s looking more and more like this is the formal rollout for John and Meg as a couple, and more and more like Meg was in the picture when John and Elaine were still very much married:
The new year brings new beginnings for Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp.
The pair have spent time together on Martha’s Vineyard and in New York City in recent days, enjoying a fresh romance just as Mellencamp has announced his separation from wife Elaine after 18 years of marriage.
A source close to Ryan, 49, says the actress and the rock star, 59, began dating about seven weeks ago, and that Mellencamp and his wife had been separated for some time before that.
The pair have been spotted having coffee at Espresso Love, one of Ryan’s favorite spots on the Vineyard, and grocery shopping at Gourmet Garage in New York’s SoHo neighborhood ? where observers tell PEOPLE they seemed happy and at ease.
“She usually comes in by herself or with her daughter. I thought that was her husband because they seemed for comfortable and familiar with each other, just like an old married couple,” one observer says.
Mellencamp has been married three times and has five children, including two sons with Elaine.
Ryan has been married once, to actor Dennis Quaid. They divorced in 2001 after 10 years of marriage. They have a son, Jack Henry, who is 18. Ryan also has a daughter, Daisy True, 6, whom she adopted from China.

And no, that?s not a rhetorical question. I am unsure of whether Meg Ryan is doing fillers and injections, or whether her face is this puffy and tight because she?s post surgery. All I know is that she looks Asian at this point.
I think it was back in 2006/2007 when Meg Ryan appeared at a film festival with her first big jacked face. Back then, the most noticeable thing about her transformation was her hideously larger lips. At this point, I wish we only had to worry about her lips. Whoever is Meg?s plastic surgeon or whatever? whoever is doing this to her - do you honestly think you?re making her look better? Is this the look she?s going for, and you just can?t say no to her?
I think what?s particularly sad is that I always believed Meg, back in the day, when she claimed she didn?t want to be known as the cutesy rom-com girl. She tried to be an authentic dramatic actress - she tried to rely on her acting talent, not her ?cuteness.? And now it just seems like she would give anything to just be ?cute? again, and she?s forgotten all about wanting to be a real actress.
Speaking of real actresses, look how awesome Holly Hunter looked at the same event for the opening of the new opera season? Holly is the best!

She?s always up for a good time, and earlier today (May 17) Meg Ryan was spotted at the ?Countdown to Zero? premiere at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
Joined by Lawrence Bender, the ?When Harry Met Sally? babe looked amazing as she posed for the paparazzi in front of the Palais des Festivals.
Yesterday, Meg got gussied up for the ?Countdown to Zero? photo call where she mingled with industry bigwigs and worked her magic for the camera.
?Countdown to Zero? is a documentary about the ever-escalating nuclear arms race and a wake-up call to the rest of the world.

First, the good news: Meg Ryan has stopped injecting her lips with whatever crazy, asinine, ugly, horrible, disgusting fillers that she was using for several years. Her lips were worse than Nicole Kidman?s are right now. Her lips were painful. So? I?m glad she?s stopped doing that sh-t. Secondly, the bad news: the lip stuff wasn?t the only thing Meg was doing, or had done to her once cute/pretty face. And whatever she had done, it still doesn?t look good. She seriously looks mangled. Her face should be the cautionary tale for every actress in Hollywood who considers plastic surgery.
Or maybe not. Because Meg is still getting parts in films. Granted, she?s no longer welcome to work with people like Tom Hanks and Nora Ephron, but Hollywood still puts Meg Ryan in front of camera and hopes that we can all pretend she didn?t do something tragic to her face. I hadn?t even heard of this film that Meg is promoting right now - it?s called Serious Moonlight, and it costars Timothy Hutton, Cheryl Hines and Justin Long. The only person out of this group I care about is Hutton. I love Hutton. I love his name, I love his beauty, I love his acting. But Hutton has made some horrible career decisions, and I suspect this film is one of them. Lainey Gossip has more about the film.
Even more depressing (for me) is that Meg is now rumored to be dating a man I find incredibly sexy. She?s allegedly dating Julian McMahon, of Nip/Tuck. He?s an incredible actor, and I find him to be very ?do me on a leopard skin rug? hot/sleazy. How did Meg do it? How did she land such a hot piece? With that face?!?
Oh, and I hate her dress at this premiere. But she never could dress.
