These are some new photos of Natalie Portman speaking at the ?Nevada Women’s Summit? held in Las Vegas on Saturday. It was less of a Women?s Summit and more of a women-centric rally for Pres. Obama?s reelection campaign. Portman, a Democrat and an Obama supporter, was one of the headliners for the event. Politico says that Portman made the appearance with some of Obama?s senior staffers:
The Obama campaign is embarking on a new effort to paint Republicans as out of touch on women’s issues with a nationwide week of action.
Starting with a Las Vegas rally featuring actress Natalie Portman, White House staffers Cecilia Muoz and Valerie Jarrett and others, the campaign will launch a weeklong assault against the GOP on contraception, abortion, and women’s health.
“Events highlighting how the Romney-Ryan ticket is too extreme for women and families will continue throughout the week, with events in Philadelphia, Richmond, Raleigh, Cleveland, Manchester, Milwaukee and Tampa, and will feature women who are well aware of how Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan?s policies would impact the health and economic security of women across the country,” the campaign said in a release.

Even when a celebrity?s politics are similar to my own, I generally don?t want to hear that celebrity pontificate on why they?re voting for a certain person. I?m not saying that every person ? celebrity or non-celebrity ? doesn?t have the right to believe in whatever they want, or that they don?t have the right to vocally support their candidate. I?m just saying that I?m not interested in hearing about it usually. But! I like that the younger generations of celebrities are approaching the political system in a different way. I like that Natalie wasn?t making some kind of high-profile campaign stop WITH Pres. Obama, and that she used her celebrity in a more concentrated, focused way to draw attention to women?s issues? issues that align with Pres. Obama?s campaign. It?s a smarter way of doing the nexus of politics and celebrity. I also like that Natalie made an appearance in a battleground state ? this year?s battleground states are Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire and Virginia, all states Obama won in 2008.
Oh, and on a superficial level, I like Natalie?s outfit.

Using her star status in the political arena, Natalie Portman stepped out on Saturday (August 25) to lend her celebrity to President Barack Obama's campaign re-election efforts.
The "Black Swan" beauty spoke to a group of more than 300 women at the Historic Fifth Street School auditorium in Las Vegas as part of the Nevada Women Vote 2012 Summit.
Talking about her decision to back Obama, Miss Portman said in a recent interview, "I think the thing that is most upsetting in the past four years is how partisan they've been in blocking Obama's reforms. All of us should be putting our country first."
The 31-year-old Israeli actress also noted that if Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan were to be elected, women's health care and equal rights would take a big step backwards, adding , "We would go back to the days where being pregnant is a pre-existing condition."
As for choosing this particular event while pitching in on the campaign efforts, Natalie explained, "Nevada is a battleground state and the women are really going to decide this election."

Their 13-month-old son Aleph is officially no longer a bastard — Natalie Portman and her baby daddy/Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied were married over the weekend. Us Magazine says:
Six months after very quietly debuting wedding bands at the 2012 Oscars, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied exchanged marital vows in a Jewish ceremony at a private home near Big Sur, Calif. The 8pm wedding took place beneath a chuppah — and in the dark!
The couple exchanged vows in both French, Hebrew, and interpretative dance, and guests were served vegan holishkes on gratin dishes hand-painted with the words of Amos Oz. In lieu of gifts, the couple ask that guests support local vendors by buying organic and haughtily upturning their noses at others.

Ending their two year engagement, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied wed over the weekend in a private Jewish ceremony near Big Sur. Although not that private since there are pictures of it floating around.
The 8pm wedding took place beneath a chuppah–and in the dark!
I assume it was in the dark because they could no longer stand to look at each other. That or because it was night time and there weren’t a lot of lights. I don’t know. What do I look like? The wedding planner?

I?m writing this because I just can?t watch any more of the Roger Federer-Andy Murray gold medal match, which should be over at any moment because Federer is just… my God, what is happening to Federer? He beat Murray at Wimbledon just a few weeks ago and now Federer is just playing like? GAH. Is it simply that everyone in Britain is just Team Murray? Anyway? Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millpied have gotten married. It?s surprising because there have been rumors floating around for more than a year that Benjamin and Natalie were already married in a quiet, secretive ceremony before she even gave birth to baby Aleph last year. So? I guess this is official now.
Mazel tov! Six months after very quietly debuting wedding bands at the 2012 Oscars, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied exchanged marital vows in a Jewish ceremony at a private home near Big Sur, Calif., Us Weekly can exclusively confirm. The 8pm wedding took place beneath a chuppah–and in the dark! No other details were immediately available.
The Oscar-winning actress, 31, and French-born dancer-choreographer Millepied, 35, are parents to a 13-month-old son, Aleph.
After meeting on the set of 2010?s Black Swan (Millepied was choreographer and had a small role in the film that won Portman a Best Actress Oscar), the stunning couple announced their engagement and pregnancy in December 2010. (A set source told Us it was “seductive to watch” to couple fall fall for one another . . . There was no way the attraction could be missed.)
During her acceptance speech in February 2011, an emotional Portman called Millepied “my beautiful love,” and thanked him for giving her “the most important role of my life [motherhood].” Aleph was born that June.
The couple returned to the Academy Awards in February of this year and, amidst affectionate red carpet shots together, sported apparent wedding bands. Although the resolutely private couple wouldn’t comment, jeweler Jamie Wolf confirmed to Us: “I designed the rings worn by Benjamin Millepied and Natalie Portman . . . They were made with recycled platinum and conflict free diamonds.”
[From Us Weekly]
I love Jewish weddings. I think the traditions are so lovely. I would love to have a wedding with a chuppah and the wine and breaking of the glass and all of that. As for Natalie and Benjamin? it sounds nice. It sounds like they went pretty traditional ? her traditions. Because I have no idea what Benjamin is, religion-wise. It?s interesting that there?s still so much confusion as to whether they actually had some kind of wedding ceremony last year too ? they might have, you know. This could have been like they?re ?real wedding? after a quickie wedding last year.
UPDATE:… And Andy Murrary just won, by the way. Congrats to Andy Murrary, Olympic Gold Medalist.

Finally, after being spotted wearing wedding bands since February, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied exchanged vows.
Jeweler Jamie Wolf confirmed the matching rings, telling Us "I designed the rings worn by Benjamin Millepied and Natalie Portman . . . They were made with recycled platinum and conflict free diamonds," though the couple refused to comment.
An insider tells Us Weekly that the "Black Swan" actress and her choreographer partner had a private Jewish ceremony at a home near Big Sur, California. The wedding reportedly took place at 8 p.m. under a chuppah in the dark.
The happy couple are parents to 13-month-old son, Aleph. Their relationship began on the set of 2010's "Black Swan" in which Portman won an Oscar. At the awards ceremony, the Harvard educated actress thanked Millepied, calling him, "my beautiful love," and thanking him for giving her "the most important role of my life [motherhood]."

| Natalie Portman & Benjamin Millepied hide their ginger (!!) baby at LAX | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Why is it so dead today? The Olympics? I guess so. And although I would love to analyze every little detail about the gymnastics qualifications (!!!) or the men?s relay getting silver (!!!), we don?t have a lot of those photos, nor do I have the necessary brainpower to really discuss anything athlete beyond, ?OMG, the judges should have scored higher? or ?STICK IT!!!? Thus, I?m covering these photos of Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied at LAX yesterday.
Benjamin, Natalie, baby Aleph and puppy Whiz made their way from NYC to LA yesterday, and it always fascinating who gets to hold what. I?m assuming Natalie is carrying her own bag (is that her carry-on?), and Natalie?s puppy Whiz is totally fine with paparazzi taking his photo while he?s out with his mom. Whiz totally looks like a really well-behaved puppy too. Especially when you consider the fact that he JUST got off of a long flight. My puppy would be peeing on a flight attendant.
Anyway, Benjamin got to carry their son Aleph. I like when I see a dude with one of those carrier things ? and Benjamin looks pretty collected as he deals with the paparazzi trying to take his son?s photos.
Which brings me to this other photo set from June, which I never got around to publishing ? Natalie, Benjamin and Aleph were photographed taking a walk with Natalie?s dad. The interesting thing is that you can really see Aleph?s face and hair in these photos and? this baby is totally a ginger, right? Is that weird? Is it weird that Aleph looks the dream baby I imagined for Adele and Prince Harry? Is it weird that Aleph doesn?t really look like either of his parents? He?s a really cute baby, but I?m just saying ? did Natalie secretly bone Michael Fassbender or something? There?s an epidemic of ginger babies with non-ginger ?parents? lately. Maybe Fassbender?s to blame. Maybe Prince Harry. Maybe Carrot Top. And YES, I know about the Darren Aronofsky paternity conspiracy – but Aronofsky isn’t a ginger, you know?

It?s gotta be tough balancing work and family, and Natalie Portman looked a bit worn out as she arrived at LAX International Airport late last night (July 29).
Joined by her beau Benjamin Millepied, son Aleph, and their family dog, the ?Garden State? gal donned a black top and jeans as she carried a large duffel bag.
And it sounds like Natalie?s threat to sue Saif Ali Khan for claiming he?d signed her for his next production has put some fear into Khan?s mind- so much so that he?s apologized publicly. ?It was a joke, I am sorry. It?s just that I am very annoyed with speculations on all the aspects of my life."
Previously, Saif had told press, ?A love story we are working on ... It?s a secret ... We are doing a film with Natalie Portman.?

| Natalie Portman: 'In Hollywood, they consider me a smart woman' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Natalie Portman covers the July issue of Madame Figaro, and the cover shot is absolutely robotic looking, isn’t it? She looks like a (really tired) porcelain Natalie doll, which probably just means she’s highly photoshopped, but it also seems like the woman is in dire need of a lengthy nap. Perhaps baby Aleph is still a wee bit fussy and keeping Natalie up at night. Anyway, I’ve been trying to figure out what Natalie is promoting with this magazine cover because she doesn’t have any movies scheduled for release although her IMDb page reveals that she’s got three projects currently filming (including the Thor sequel and an untitled Terrence Malick projct). So I suppose Natalie is just reminding us that she’s still around and hasn’t retired from acting just because she had a baby. That makes sense, I guess. Here are some interview excerpts:
On appreciating her success: “I have always considered myself extremely lucky. I know very well that there are very few elected officials in this business and that many of us, despite their talent and hard work, will not come out of the lot. These are the laws of chance.”
On her youthful appearance: “It’s very strange because my physical traits sometimes make it difficult for others to consider me a woman and at the same time I have been in the business for so long that many think I have already passed the 40 year mark.”
On being an object of beauty: “I obviously do not see myself that way. I prefer ‘about beauty’ or ‘subject of desire.’ One can say that about all women, whatever their life and career.”
On her reputation for being an intellectual: “It is a matter of context. In Hollywood, they consider me a smart woman, but in other circles, I’m probably seen as a silly actress (laughs). In America, they see me as European. In Europe, some see me as maybe a stupid American.”
[From Madame Figaro]
I’ve always figured that Natalie struggles with having her comments misinterpreted and has attempted to guard against that dreaded evil with such guarded statements. She barely seems candid at all in her responses, but it’s hard to deny that she really is an intelligent person (and Ivy League scholar, blah blah) and perhaps doesn’t always sense her own vague air of pretention. Obviously though, she’s no Goop because, you know, Natalie actually graduated from college. Zing.
As far as this photoshoot goes, the interior shots are much better (and more relaxed looking) than the cover.
