Even with Chrissy Teigen?s ongoing ?hiatus? following Courtney Stodden?s May interview with the Daily Beast, Chrissy hasn?t lost a significant amount of followers on Instagram. Her follower count has hovered around 34-35 million for the entire scandal. And as much as she?s whined about her hiatus, Chrissy has still been posting photos on Instagram, as you can see in this post she was in Italy with John and their children just last week. She leaves her comments open too, and she gets a lot of ?supportive? comments. She?s only ?taken a break? from Twitter. And then she?s taken breaks from that break to issue statements and whine about how much work she?s doing on herself and can she please be un-cancelled? Her last big statement about how much ?work? she?s doing on herself happened on June 14th, when she wrote that long-winded and tone-deaf Medium essay. She must mark this sh-t on her calendar, because on July 14th, Chrissy posted this to Instagram:
Iiiii don?t really know what to say herejust feels so weird to pretend nothing happened in this online world but feel like utter sh-t in real life. Going outside sucks and doesn?t feel right, being at home alone with my mind makes my depressed head race. But I do know that however I?m handling this now isn?t the right answer. I feel lost and need to find my place again,I need to snap out of this, I desperately wanna communicate with you guys instead of pretending everything is okay. I?m not used to any other way!!
Cancel club is a fascinating thing and I have learned a whollllle lot. Only a few understand it and it?s impossible to know til you?re in it. And it?s hard to talk about it in that sense because obviously you sound whiney when you?ve clearly done something wrong. It just sucks. There is no winning. But there never is here anyhow.
All I know is I love you guys, I miss you guys, and I just needed an honest moment with you because I?m justtired of being sick with myself all day. I don?t even know if it?s good to say any of this because it?s gonna get brutally picked apart but I dunno. I can?t do this silent sh-t anymore! Again, she was just in Italy with John and the kids. She put it all on the ?gram. She brought a professional photographer so she would have high-quality photos to post on her IG. She posted the photos during the trip and she got the positive reinforcement feedback she wanted, and now she wants more. She wants to be able to post the photos on Twitter and whine about how rich and bored she is. They must have gotten home this week and Chrissy was ?bored? within a day. God, she?s such a problematic narcissist. Please stop following this mess.

Lord, I?m sorry I even heard the name ?Michael Costello.? This is the timeline for the past week: Chrissy Teigen, seemingly out of nowhere, issued a lengthy and self-absorbed second apology on Medium. She apologized (again) for her history of trollish behavior. Hours later, fashion designer Michael Costello issued a statement on his Instagram claiming that Chrissy had bullied him for years and tried to destroy his career. He provided ?screencaps? of their alleged DMs, where it looked like Teigen told Costello that he should die. Leona Lewis then came in and was like ?not so fast,? and she told her story of how Costello treated her poorly at a charity fashion show. Then Chrissy?s manager went to Business Insider and poked holes in Costello?s story and claimed that the DMs Costello posted were faked.
On Friday, Chrissy got on Twitter to say that she had no idea what Costello was doing but he wasn?t telling the truth. She posted a statement from her rep too:
No idea what the fuck michael costello is doing. He just released a statement where he didn?t at ALL acknowledge how fake the dm?s were, & now claims to have emails that don?t exist. You know what I?ve been thinking about for the past few days? Why did Chrissy Teigen write the second apology on Medium this week? It had not even been a month since her first apology, regarding the Courtney Stodden situation. Teigen was losing sponsors, of course, and she was losing money. But the second apology had the feel of someone trying to get out ahead of something else, and it also had the feel of Chrissy just? being desperate for attention. Shortly after Teigen?s Medium post, fashion designer Michael Costello told his story on Instagram. His story: Teigen and her friends blacklisted him from the industry, destroyed his professional life and nearly drove him to suicide. As evidence, he posted screencaps of DMs between himself and Teigen.
In the days that followed, we learned that Costello is probably a racist and a gaslighter and there?s enough evidence to suggest that his story was pretty incomplete. But still, he had those DMs from Teigen, right? Well
Chrissy Teigens team is addressing the bullying allegations recently made by fashion designer Michael Costello against the star. In an article published by Business Insider on Thursday, a team representative for Teigen, 35, claimed the purported Instagram direct messages from the Cravings cookbook author in 2014 which Costello, 38, posted earlier this week alongside accusations of bullying are fake.
As the outlet noted, the screenshots showed several temporal inconsistencies that may suggest they had been altered in some way. Examples include a missing verified checkmark next to Teigens name which would suggest the screenshots were taken in 2014, before Instagrams verification program had launched in the same screengrab featuring purple and blue messages, a design implemented by the social media platform in 2020.
The screenshots also showed a video chat icon something that was introduced on Instagram in 2018 alongside a profile photo that Teigen had changed no later than 2016, according to Business Insider. A representative for Costello did not immediately respond to PEOPLEs request for comment.

I have zero technical expertise with Instagram or IG direct messaging so I won?t speak to that, I?ll just say that from everything we?ve heard about Chrissy Teigen, she sounds like the kind of person who would DM a fashion designer and tell him he should die. So if Costello did fake those messages, he really got her ?voice? down cold. Costello already seems problematic, but guess what? Chrissy Teigen is massively problematic too. You can choose to not support either of them. I have a terrible feeling that Teigen is already making her first steps for some kind of ?comeback.?

I?m backing away from the Michael Costello-Leona Lewis situation because the back-and-forth could go on for a while. I completely believe he?s terrible and I completely believe Leona?s story, but I can?t keep diving into ?he said this to Page Six? and ?she?s got a new IG Story,? etc. Especially since the focus should be on Chrissy Teigen and how awful she is. The reason there are still people caping for Chrissy is because she often targeted people who were already disliked or considered worthy of scorn. It?s that simple. That?s how she got away with it for so many years. She was telling people to die or to kill themselves regularly. She was a vicious bully who hurt vulnerable people because she could, because she got off on it. But don?t worry, John Legend says she?s fine:
John Legend did more than put on a brave face to support his wife, Chrissy Teigen he smiled and claimed shes doing better than her lengthy apology for bullying made it seem. The singer was out in WeHo Tuesday and seemed to be in great spirits. You can see him sporting a wide grin as he walked up to his car and was incredibly polite when a photog walked up to ask him about Chrissys attempts to recover from the trolling scandal.
After exchanging some very quick pleasantries the pap got right to the point hows Chrissy doing? John had zero hesitation and answered with a smile shes doing great.

Of Teigen?s reported about-face, the source pressed to the podcast that every news outlet in the world has contacted Chrissy about getting her first on-camera interview, but Oprah is her first choice. The insider added, If Oprah can forgive Chrissy, then so can the nation.

This should show you how seriously Chrissy is taking it she?s looking to book a tearful performance with Oprah. I hope Oprah refuses to take her calls. Why would anyone want to book Chrissy right now, or ever again? So she can once again make everything about how *she* feels? About a month ago, Courtney Stodden revealed that Chrissy Teigen used to privately DM them and Teigen would say stuff like ?kill yourself.? Chrissy waited a day to see if the accusation would stick (it did) and she issued a terrible apology on social media where she made it sound like it was such a chore to have to apologize for being such a nasty piece of work. In the weeks that followed, Stodden has said that Teigen should lose her sponsors. Teigen has lost some work, and there are rumors that her marriage is on the rocks too, although I?m not sure I believe that. So I don?t know what possessed Chrissy narcissism, an inability to be quiet but she decided to do a Medium essay which serves as some kind of update on how she?s been ?humbled? by everything that?s happened. I know I?ve been quiet, and lord knows you don?t want to hear about me, but I want you to know I?ve been sitting in a hole of deserved global punishment, the ultimate ?sit here and think about what you?ve done?. Not a day, not a single moment has passed where I haven?t felt the crushing weight of regret for the things I?ve said in the past.
As you know, a bunch of my old awful (awful, awful) tweets resurfaced. I?m truly ashamed of them. As I look at them and understand the hurt they caused, I have to stop and wonder: How could I have done that? I?ve apologized publicly to one person, but there are others ? and more than just a few ? who I need to say I?m sorry to. I?m in the process of privately reaching out to the people I insulted. It?s like my own version of that show My Name is Earl! I understand that they may not want to speak to me. I don?t think I?d like to speak to me. (The real truth in all of this is how much I actually cannot take confrontation.) But if they do, I am here and I will listen to what they have to say, while apologizing through sobs.
There is simply no excuse for my past horrible tweets. My targets didn?t deserve them. No one does. Many of them needed empathy, kindness, understanding and support, not my meanness masquerading as a kind of casual, edgy humor. I was a troll, full stop. And I am so sorry.
I used [social media] to snark at some celebrities. In reality, I was insecure, immature and in a world where I thought I needed to impress strangers to be accepted. If there was a pop culture pile-on, I took to Twitter to try to gain attention and show off what I at the time believed was a crude, clever, harmless quip. I thought it made me cool and relatable if I poked fun at celebrities.
Now, confronted with some of the things that I said, I cringe to my core. I?ll honestly get sharp, stabbing pains in my body, randomly remembering my ahole past, and I deserve it. Words have consequences and there are real people behind the Twitter handles I went after. I wasn?t just attacking some random avatar, but hurting young women ? some who were still girls ? who had feelings. How could I not stop and think of that? Why did I think there was some invisible psycho-celebrity formula that prevents anyone with more followers from experiencing pain? How did I not realize my words were cruel? What gave me the right to say these things?
The truth is, I?m no longer the person who wrote those horrible things. I grew up, got therapy, got married, had kids, got more therapy, experienced loss and pain, got more therapy and experienced more life. AND GOT MORE THERAPY.
I have so much love to give if you are open and willing to accept it. And if not, that?s okay too. That?s something I work on being more okay with every day. I know I let you down, but I hope I can make you proud. It?s been a heavy few weeks, so I?m going to take some more time to focus on things that are most important ? being with my family and taking care of myself. We are all more than our worst moments.
I won?t ask for your forgiveness, only your patience and tolerance. I ask that you allow me, as I promise to allow you, to own past mistakes and be given the opportunity to seek self improvement and change. Phew. A lot, I know. Thanks for listening.

There?s a tone problem, right? That was what immediately struck me. She?s trying to sound conversational, like she?s lecturing one of her girlfriends, but we?re actually talking about how she mocked a child (Quvenzhane Wallis) and told a teenager to ?kill yourself.? This is not the moment to compulsively center yourself in the apology/update, nor is it the moment to crack a ?My Name Is Earl? joke. Something else that?s bothering me: she wouldn?t have done her Twitter apology last month or this Medium apology if her bottom line wasn?t being affected, and if her business partners weren?t running for the hills. People were happy to ignore all of Chrissy?s problematic words and behavior for years and years. And now that everything has come to a head, suddenly she has all of these regrets and humility. This apology is just like Chrissy: vapid, narcissistic and fake.

I?ve known that Chrissy Teigen sucks for years. She always got on my last nerve, and her attention-seeking behavior is so ridiculously over-the-top. A few weeks ago, Courtney Stodden revealed that Teigen used to send Stodden direct-messages on social media. Those DMs included stuff like ?kill yourself? and other disgusting things. That?s who Teigen is, and that?s who she?s always been. Teigen gave a narcissistic apology after Stodden?s interview, and Chrissy has watched her career go down the toilet ever since. Suddenly, none of Teigen?s corporate sponsors want anything to do with her. VRBO quietly took down most of her ads with John Legend. And according to In Touch Weekly, her marriage has taken a bit hit too.
Chrissy Teigen?s celeb friends, including Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Meghan Markle, are distancing themselves from her, says a source. ?This scandal could end up destroying her career and some friendships.?
But Chrissy is paying an even higher price: her marriage to John Legend is suffering. ?He?s upset about what?s happening to his wife and he?s trying to be there for her, but he?s also so disappointed,? the source said. ?This is not the woman he fell in love with and married. And now, John?s friends who never liked Chrissy are pushing him to dump her.?
John wasn?t aware of the extent of Chrissy?s behavior, the source claims. ?She showed him one side of herself only never this dark, ugly side so he was blindsided.? When she apologized to him, adds the source, her words echoed what she said in her apology tweet to fans. But the damage is done.

When they first got together, I used to think less of him because he wanted to be with a woman like Chrissy, someone who was such an annoying famewhore. But everyone else was like ?oh no, they?re the perfect couple, everything is amazing!? No. While I do think that Chrissy tried to only show Legend one cultivated side to herself, let?s be completely honest here. Legend saw a lot of what Chrissy did and said online. He saw her attention-seeking behavior, her narcissism and her bullying. And he was fine with it. Which makes me think that maybe their marriage is okay. They both believe they can weather this storm and come back and be the perfect couple again.

It kind of seems like Chrissy Teigen and her corporate sponsors are taking a wait-and-see approach to Chrissy?s latest crap. Weeks ago, Courtney Stodden told the Daily Beast that Chrissy used to send DMs to Stodden encouraging Stodden to ?kill yourself.? Chrissy gave a half-assed apology and admitted the obvious, which is that she?s an insecure, attention-seeking troll. Some of her sponsors/endorsement deals have hit pause and Stodden actually said that Teigen should lose her sponsors too. Well, that?s not all. Chrissy and Mindy Kaling have been friendly for years Mindy helped Chrissy promote her cookbook, and Mindy had Chrissy on The Mindy Project too. Chrissy was supposed to do a guest-voiceover on Never Have I Ever, the Netflix series Mindy executive produces. Chrissy has now ?stepped down? from that gig.
Chrissy Teigen has bowed out of a planned voice role in the Netflix comedy ?Never Have I Ever? in the wake of revelations that she once engaged in online bullying against model and reality TV personality Courtney Stodden.
Teigen opted to drop out of a planned voice role in one episode of the upcoming Season 2 of the Netflix coming of age comedy from Mindy Kaling. The series features voice-over narration for key characters performed by guest actors.
?Never Have I Ever? revolves around a first-generation Indian American teenage girl navigating high school while dealing with the loss of her father. A spokesman for the show said the role is expected to be recast.
Teigen issued a public apology on May 12 after Stodden revealed in an interview with Daily Beast that Teigen harassed them online a decade ago after Stodden married actor Doug Hutchison when they were 16 and he was 60. Stodden revealed that Teigen sent them direct messages with cruel taunts such as ?I can?t wait for you to die.?

It would have been better (from my perspective) if Mindy had been the one announcing that the role is no longer available to Teigen. I know Mindy probably thinks she?s just helping Chrissy save face and act like it was her (Chrissy?s) decision, but? it should have been seen as Mindy?s decision. This isn?t some little fk up which will blow over in a second. Chrissy, as an adult, directly harassed and encouraged a teenager to die. There really isn?t going to be a comeback for this one?

Personally, I enjoy it when terrible people find themselves in a terrible newscycle because of terrible sh-t they did years ago. Old sins cast long shadows and all that. Chrissy Teigen is marginally talented at only a few things: making an ass out of herself, being a bully and a troll, and being a huge narcissist. This week, Courtney Stodden spoke about how Chrissy Teigen had bullied and harassed them online for years. The harassment even included Teigen DMing Stodden and telling Stodden to ?kill yourself.? Chrissy waited 24 hours after the interview came out, probably hoping that she could ignore it and it would go away. Then she gave a sh-tty apology and didn?t bother to respond to Stodden?s claim that Chrissy had NOT reached out privately like Teigen claimed.
All in all, a bad week for Chrissy and she deserved it. Only the sickest minds would DM a teenager and encourage them to kill themselves. Will Chrissy have to ?pay? for her years of bullsh-t though? I mean, beyond the ?people talking sh-t about her on Twitter? part of it. Well, there is/was something happening with Chrissy?s Target contract but it seems it had nothing to do with the Stodden issue.
Chrissy Teigens not only feeling the heat from Courtney Stodden Targets also made a big move one that impacts Chrissys bottom line. The retail giants website shows her Cravings by Chrissy Teigen line of cookware has been wiped out. Targets move appeared to come as Chrissy was owning up to her past abusive behavior DMing to suggest Courtney kill themself issuing an apology on Twitter.
However, Target sources say the line wasnt just removed from their website this week were told it was yanked last month. It should be noted, Chrissys 3 cookbooks are still available on Targets website.
Youll recall, Courtney first called out Chrissy back in March, telling us they felt Chrissy is a hypocrite for quitting Twitter over negativity on the platform. Courtney pointed out Chrissy had, years ago, heavily bullied them on Twitter. However, it turns out its just coincidental Target dropped Chrissys cookware from its website the very next month.
In any event, you can still find those products in other retail outlets and some Target brick-and-mortar stores still have inventory too.
Update: Sources connected to Chrissy tell TMZ the break-up with Target was a mutual and amicable decision reached way back in December. Were told she launched the cookware line exclusively with Target in 2018, but late last year, they decided to end the exclusivity. Now, Chrissys hawking her cookware through e-commerce, most notably on her own website and through several other retailers. All of these business moves were in motion long before Courtney, rightfully, raised their issues with Chrissys treatment of them.

I didn?t even know that Teigen had a cookware line at Target. Oh well, glad that it?s gone. I bet Target is very pleased that they managed to exit out of Teigen?s contract too, especially if it happened months before the current newscycle. I?m not sure how many current sponsorships and deals Chrissy has going right now, but just a few years ago, she and John Legend were being called a dream celebrity couple for celebrity sponsorships. Chrissy has gotten paid to shill Pampers, Tresemm, Genesis/Hyundai and more. If I was involved with any kind of corporate decision-making process on sponsors, I would not want anything to do with Chrissy. She?s not radioactive, but she?s already a disaster and who needs it?

Courtney Stodden spoke to the Daily Beast recently, in an interview which was published this week. The interview began trending on Twitter almost as soon as it was published. When I covered it yesterday, I included some of Stodden?s quotes where they were reflecting back on how they were groomed and how they were basically deprogramming themselves. Stodden legitimately seems to be in a better place emotionally and psychologically these days and I?m glad they survived it all. But of course, the big headline was about Stodden revealing that Chrissy Teigen privately DM?d Stodden. Stodden?s quote: ?She wouldn?t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ?a dirt nap? but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself. Things like, ?I can?t wait for you to die.??
Too many people yesterday wanted to know the context for Teigen?s DMs, like there would be any context to justify a grown woman DMing a teenager and telling them to kill themselves? And if you?re looking for context, the only thing I can show you is all of Chrissy?s tweets from 2011-2012 where she repeatedly and openly harassed Stodden and tweeted vile things. So, with all of that in mind, Chrissy is super-sorry that you see her differently. She waited 24 hours to apologize. I?m not embedding her tweets, but here?s what she said:

Before I saw Stoddens reaction to Chrissy, I hoped that Stodden wouldnt care or would just ignore Chrissy completely. The worst case scenario for Chrissy would be if Stodden doesn?t acknowledge her publicly, you know? But no, the actual worst case scenario was for Stodden to say that Teigen still has them blocked on Twitter, and that Teigen never reached out privately. Damn!

Chrissy knows Meghan but I don?t think they?re BFFs or anything, it?s more like they met professionally years ago and have one of those LA friendships. This week, Chrissy chatted on the Watch What Happens Live after-show about how Meghan contacted her last year after Chrissy lost her baby Jack. It would have been shortly after Meghan miscarried too. Chrissy didn?t make a meal out of this, which surprised me.
Chrissy Teigen has a royal supporter ? Meghan Markle. The cookbook author, 35, said Tuesday that she and the Duchess of Sussex have connected multiple times, but Markle ? who suffered a miscarriage last summer ? first reached out to her after losing her son Jack last year.
Yeah, shes been so kind to me ever since we connected, Teigen said in response to a fan question during the Watch What Happens Live! after show. She had written me about baby Jack. but yeah she is really wonderful and so kind ? just as kind as everyone says she is? Thats why you look at everything and youre like My god, what is absolutely wrong with people that they have to make this person out to be so malicious or so crazy? when its just as simple as them being as kind as everyone says they are.
Teigen added that she also spoke to Markle, 39, after her and Prince Harrys tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.
I think when I ended up watching it, it was like Holy s this is big, Teigen said, adding: But also I waited a long time to watch it, so Id already heard so much about it.
WWHL host Andy Cohen asked if Markle had shared any extra tea during their conversation, but Teigen denied learning anything that wasnt shared with the public. No. I think shes been very honest [and] open, she said. I think her truth has been her truth since the very beginning.
Teigen ? who first encountered Markle when the two appeared on the game show Deal or No Deal together ? has come to her defense several times over the past few years. Last month, Teigen spoke out when Markle was accused of bullying palace staff members when she was a working member of the royal family. this meghan markle s is hitting too close to home for me, Teigen tweeted. these people wont stop until she miscarries. f stop it.

It?s nice that Meghan contacted her and that they?ve spoken a few times. It?s even nicer that Chrissy hasn?t been giving us minute-by-minute updates when Meghan contacts her. I would hope that most people in contact with the Sussexes will avoid dishing on them, even if it?s nice stuff like ?Meghan is a lovely person.? Still, it was probably cathartic for both women to be able to talk to each other about miscarriage and loss when they were both going through it last year.
