Practical Magic 2 will be out on September 18, and its teaser trailer dropped on Monday. Gosh, it feels like it was just yesterday that we heard rumors that Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman were ?in talks? to bring the Owens sisters back to our screens. Now, we?re less than six months from this becoming a reality. After watching the teaser, I?m even more excited than I was when we heard that they?d begun filming a year ago and finished filming in September. Pass the salt, bitches!
PM2 is based on the fourth book in Alice Hoffman?s Practical Magic series, The Book of Magic. There?s been a lot of casting news over the last year. The most notable was Evan Rachel Wood being recast by Joey King. Although he was never officially confirmed as being a part of the cast, fans still had hopes that Aidan Quinn, aka Detective Gary Hallett, would be back as Sally Owens? love interest. Alas, he is nowhere to be seen in the trailer. This shouldn?t come as a surprise, though. During a red carpet appearance back in February, a reporter from an Irish radio station asked Quinn if he?d be returning for PM2. His response? Just like Wood, he wasn?t asked to come back.
The newly-released trailer for Practical Magic 2 saw the return of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidmans Owens sisters, but fans were quick to notice one actor missing: Aidan Quinn, the love interest for Bullocks Sally Owens in the 1998 original.
In a red carpet interview shared by Irish radio station SPIN 1038, the 67-year-old actor revealed why he will not reprise his role as Gary Hallett, the heterochromic detective (?one green eye and one blue?).
Asked if he will make an appearance in Practical Magic 2, Quinn said, ?No, I wasnt asked. I would have said yes, but I wasnt asked.?
?Oh, yes, of course I would,? he then reiterated, when asked if he would have agreed to appear in the forthcoming sequel to the beloved 1998 fantasy film.
After the interviewer then joked ?we need to get on to Nicole Kidman,? Quinn then said of the sequels casting, ?Well, I think its already been done.?
?Oh, yeah, lovely, lovely,? Quinn said when asked if he had fond memories of filming. ?They were both great to work with. Most of my stuff was with Sandy, but they were both phenomenal to work with. Yeah, we had a good time.?
Quinn is not the only actor who starred in the original Practical Magic who was not asked back for the forthcoming sequel. Last year, Evan Rachel Wood, who starred as Sallys eldest daughter, revealed that she will not be returning to her witchy role because she was not asked to.
In June 2025, shortly after it was revealed that Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest are reprising their roles as the Owens sisters aunts, Wood, 38, explained why she will not appear in the sequel in a statement shared on Instagram Stories.
I am getting asked about this a lot, so lll just clear it up now;I was not asked to come back and be in the #PracticalMagic sequel. l offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line, she wrote at the time. I was told they are re-casting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.

Without spoiling The Book of Magic too much, Wood?s former character, Kylie, plays a big role in the book. I don?t have any theories as to why the role was recast other than production was trying to align with the characters age. Kylie is a teenager in the book. As much as I like ERW, shes 38, and this isnt a WB show. I think Quinn?s situation is similar to ERW?s. Detective Gary is dead in The Book of Magic, and producers have said that the movie would be ?faithful? to the book. Still, that?s never stopped Hollywood from taking creative liberties before. They could have filmed flashback scenes! I am really bummed that he and his character aren?t coming back in any capacity. My conspiracy theory/hope is that he did film a few cameos/shots and that he?s been sworn to secrecy to not reveal it. Either way, I?m really excited for Practical Magic 2.

Jack Quaid and Claudia Doumit met on the set of the second season of The Boys. They?ve been together since at least 2022, but have kept their relationship private. Last weekend, Jack and Claudia got married! Claudia is Australian, so their ceremony was held at a luxury resort in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. The guest list was full of celebrities, including some of their The Boys co-stars. Pictures were briefly posted online, but have since been taken down. They showed that Jack wore a red blazer with gold embroidery and Claudia wore an off-white satin gown with a ruffled skirt and headband.
According to Australian outlet The Daily Telegraph, Quaid, 33, and Doumit, 34, tied the knot on Saturday in an intimate ceremony at Mona Farm in Braidwood, Australia ? a New South Wales farming town 124 miles southwest of Doumits birthplace, Sydney.
The quiet town reportedly became a Hollywood hotspot as the grooms famous parents, Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, were said to be in attendance, as well as actors Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks, Kevin Costner, Henry Golding, and the couples The Boys costars Karl Urban, Colby Minifie, and Nathan Mitchell.
Quaid and Doumit, who met during season 2 of the satirical superhero show, were seen at their wedding reception in photos and videos posted by guests via Instagram, which have since been removed, according to news.com.au. Doumit reportedly wore an off-white satin wedding dress with a ruffled skirt and a matching floral headband while Quaid sported a red Western-style blazer featuring gold embroidery.
They apparently cozied up while swaying to Atlantis by Donovan during their first dance.
In photos posted to Smokey Horse restaurants Instagram account, the couple were seen post-nuptials alongside the likes of Minifie, Emily Browning, and Brownings husband, Eddie OKeefe.
Big congratulations to the newlyweds @jack_quaid and @claudiadoumit, what a beautiful couple you two make, we wish you boundless happiness and good fortune in the days ahead!!! , the post read. That is quite the guest list! I can understand why they would want to protect everyone?s privacy and not want unofficial photos from the reception to get out. That?s pretty typical for a celebrity wedding. On Monday, Karl Urban posted a picture of himself from before the ceremony wearing a beige suit and light blue shirt. He looked snazzy and ready for an Australian wedding. I wonder if any of the other The Boys stars were there other than Colby Minifie and Nathan Mitchell.
Although the pictures from the ceremony and reception have been removed from Instagram, you can still see them on Reddit and News Au. Since they?re from Jack and Claudia?s first dance, you can only see the back of Claudia?s dress. Between her headband and ruffled skirt and Jack?s red jacket, it?s giving Cinderella dancing with the prince at the ball. I?m dying to see what the front of the dress looks like! I hope they release their own pictures soon. I wonder which outlet got the exclusive rights to publish them. Anyway, congrats to the happy couple. May they live a long and happy life together.

Is it anti-American for the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 to look better and dress better for the London premiere? I mean, they had nowhere to go but up after the style tragedies at the New York premiere. My biggest quibble about this London premiere is that someone should have told Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep that the enormous backdrop was going to be that lipstick red shade. Both Meryl and Emily were bleeding into the background!!
Fashion notes: Emily Blunt wore Balenciaga, a somewhat snazzy strapless, two-piece pantsuit (?) with an attached train. It was cool because Emily usually doesn?t wear stuff like this she?s usually not this adventurous, nor does she usually wear pants on the carpet. Those pants are awesome, btw. Anne Hathaway wore Atelier Versace, and she actually brought Donatella Versace as her date. Interesting enough, Donatella was pushed out of Versace last year and banned from using the Versace name for anything commercial. I?m sure Anne probably wanted to publicly show her support for Donatella, but knowing the backstory? it?s weird. The dress isn?t great either, but I enjoy her Ariana-esque high pony.
As for Meryl Streep, she wore PRADA! Finally. I?m sure Prada would have loved to dress more of these ladies for the premieres, but hey, they got Meryl and that counts for a lot. I like Meryl?s ensemble too. Bonus fashion: Simone Ashley in Thierry Mugler. Simone plays Miranda?s latest assistant in the sequel, and Simone was barely seen or photographed at the NYC premiere. I like her in hot pink! I have similar coloring and whenever I wear hot pink, I always get compliments.
