Kim Kardashian was in Paris this week to testify against the group of people who robbed her in 2016. I thought some of the robbers had been caught years ago, but this trial is for the larger group, consisting of thieves in their 60s and 70s. The French papers call them the ?grandpa robbers.? Apparently, Kim was only scheduled to testify for one day, and she did so decked out in millions of dollars worth of diamonds.
Kim Kardashian, the reality TV star and entrepreneur, told a Paris court on Tuesday that she had feared for her life as thieves held her at gunpoint during a robbery in the French capital nearly a decade ago.
?I absolutely did think I was going to die,? said Ms. Kardashian, who was composed as she recalled her ordeal for the court but briefly teared up several times over nearly five hours of testimony. It was the only time that Ms. Kardashian, 44, was expected to take the stand and face the defendants. Reporters have nicknamed them ?grandpa robbers? ? a group, some of whom are in their 60s and 70s, accused of stealing millions worth of jewelry from her during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016.
Ms. Kardashian spoke about the confusion and terror that gripped her after two of the thieves, dressed as police officers, entered her room and asked in accented English for her $4 million diamond engagement ring. One held her at gunpoint, she said, and she feared they might rape or shoot her.
When the robbers fled, she said, they left her on her bathroom floor, gagged and bound with tape and zip ties. She described freeing her hands by rubbing the tape against the metal leg of a sink, before hopping downstairs with her ankles still bound. The ordeal shattered her sense of safety, leading her to drastically upgrade her private security and to remove all jewelry from her home, she testified. ?It really changed everything,? she said.
The courthouse in central Paris buzzed with unusual activity on Tuesday because of Ms. Kardashian?s presence. She wore a long black skirt, a black jacket and a $3 million diamond necklace.
Some of the defendants have been charged with armed robbery in an organized gang, kidnapping and other charges. Others are accused of complicity or of lesser charges. The trial, which will be decided by three judges and a six-person jury, is set to last until the end of May.

I remember how Kim was so shaken up after the robbery, and how she genuinely feared for her life. She didn?t even return to Paris for years afterwards. Page Six had additional details about Kim?s jewelry in court, including details about what was stolen back in 2016. Originally, the robbers took about $10 million worth of jewelry, and Kim told the court that the insurance pay out was about $6 million. She ended up replacing the stolen 20-carat diamond ring with a 22-carat diamond, and she wore that diamond ring to court. Plus the $3 million diamond necklace. Kim also went out to dinner in Paris last night after testifying!

| Weird, it's 2025 & they?re still conducting popularity polls on Duchess Meghan | Added 13 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Apparently, someone thought it would be a good idea to commission a ?YouGov? poll on the popularity of individual British royals last week. They?re taking pains to say the poll was conducted last week, because they want to emphasize that the poll numbers are not being juiced as punishment for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex looking happy, healthy and well-laid at the Beyonce concert last Friday. But yes, Harry and Meghan?s names were included in this fakakta polling, even though they left that island over five years ago. Breaking news: miserable people are still miserable about the Sussexes!
Meghan Markles popularity in Britain has hit a record low after her favourability rating dropped to just 20 per cent meaning only Prince Andrew is more disliked than her.
YouGov, which carried out the poll last week, said the public perception of the Duchess of Sussex was now at its worst since it started tracking such data in 2017. Some 65 per cent of UK adults have a negative view of Meghan the same level as in the previous survey in February but the positive view has slipped from 21 per cent.
Meghan is also far less popular than before she stepped down as a senior royal with husband Prince Harry five years ago, with 55 per cent seeing her favourably in 2019.
Views of the Duchess also differ significantly by age, with 38 per cent of 18 to 24- year-olds having a positive view compared to 8 per cent of those aged 65 or over. As for Harry, only 27 per cent of UK adults now have a positive opinion of him and 63 per cent have a negative view, which is his worst score since early 2023.
Again, younger people feel more favourably towards the Duke of Sussex who called for reconciliation with his estranged family earlier this month than older people.
[From The Daily Mail]
Other than a few Heathrow layovers, Meghan has not stepped foot on that island since September 2022. Her children have not been on British soil since June 2022. These people need to let it go she is done with being yours to abuse, she is done with being the left-behinds? scapegoat. Enough. If you argue that Harry?s favorability matters when it comes to his larger security issues, then good news, you agree with the crux of Harry?s case, that his security was withdrawn over superficial reasons.
She must be new to gb not news. Why is she asking an intelligent question? Another reminder, polls? who cares? pic.twitter.com/2xlINnCO8j

| Princess Kate 'impressed designers with her strong knowledge' at the fashion event | Added 13 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Yesterday, the Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance at an event for the British Fashion Council. She wore this somewhat terrible Victoria Beckham suit, and I honestly thought that there were only two reasons why Kate agreed to wear that suit: one, she wanted to ?copy? Meghan?s Ralph Lauren suit from April and two, Kate had to wear a Victoria Beckham design because Beckham was receiving an award. I was wrong about the second reason Kate actually presented the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design to Patrick McDowell. Surely? they should have put Kate in one of McDowell?s designs? Like, a literal showcase for the designer who won the award presented by Kate? Bad staff work all around, and whoever told Kate the VB suit looked good should immediately be fired too. People Mag had quotes from some of the designers at the event and they were all super-excited to talk to the Girl In The Baby-Poop Suit.
Kate Middleton impressed designers with her strong knowledge of their work at her latest royal engagement. On May 13, the Princess of Wales, 43, stepped out to present The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at an event organized by the British Fashion Council in London, which doubled as her first solo official outing this spring. There, Princess Kate mingled with recipients and shortlisted designers from the British Fashion Council Foundations initiatives supporting the talent of tomorrow, where designer Clio Peppiatt was wowed by how prepared Kate was.
She knew a bit about the brand and said she was really excited to see it in person, Peppiatt, 34, exclusively tells PEOPLE, revealing that Princess Kate said shed read up on her brand. Peppiatts Capri dress, decorated with illustrations of summer fruit in hand-sewn beading and embroidery, caught Kates attention during a presentation, and they dove into the details when they spoke.
I mentioned to her that a lot of pieces are inspired by postcards of places we love. She mentioned she loved the handicraft, says Peppiatt.
Princess Kate visited Patrick McDowells pop-up studio at 180 Studios to see how the sustainable designs come to life and asked many questions.
We showed the Princess our latest collection, which is called Portraits of a Painter, and we also showed her some work we were currently developing for the September show, McDowell, 29, tells PEOPLE. She was so interested to see the different crafts people were working on? She was genuinely interested to meet all of them and hear about what they do and how each of them contributes to the process of a fashion collection coming together.
The namesake label is a circular luxury fashion brand, and McDowell says it was a dream achieved for fashion icon Kate to present the prize. It was such a dream come true that she was presenting the award. To see her in person and see her genuine interest and real love of fashion and crucially the people making the clothes which is a love I share, was so special, they say. She was so interested, she spent so much time meeting each of the team. She was really so kind, and that genuine interest is so crucial to how British fashion is put forward on a global stage.
[From People]
I won?t make fun of the designers who were excited to meet Kate she?s famous and they would love to design anything for her and get some kind of bump in sales or attention. But the ?Kate Effect? isn?t what it used to be, if it ever was. Not like Meghan, who can wear anything and it immediately sells out and changes a designer?s life forever. As always, I will point out that the bar is set in hell for Kate she impressed people at this event simply because she asked questions like ?what?s the process here? while playing with her hairpiece. They didn?t even let her make a speech for the big award presentation. They just called her up to the podium to literally hand the award to McDowell.
PS its sort of audacious to send Kate to a British Fashion Council event considering her February announcement that her office would no longer provide fashion updates, and her office would discourage people from writing about such frivolity. Not so frivolous now, I guess?
