Morena Baccarin is spending lockdown with her husband, Ben McKenzie, and her two children, Frances, four, and Julius, six. Like the majority of parents in the US, Morena suddenly found herself performing many more roles once the mandatory Safer At Home measures went into place in mid-March. And like other parents, Morena is struggling with being all things to everyone.
Keeping an open dialogue! Morena Baccarin wants her children to freely share their ?fears? about the coronavirus pandemic.
?We answer the questions asked and not too much more than that,? the actress, 40, said of herself and her husband, Ben McKenzie, on Friday, May 29, while promoting Walgreens? Red Nose Day. ?We try to create an environment where they feel safe expressing their fears and anxieties. It?s important that they don?t bottle those up.?
The Deadpool star, who shares Frances, 4, with the actor, 41, and Julius, 6, with her ex-husband, Austin Chick, went on to tell Us, ?The great thing about kids is that they can really entertain themselves. They have amazing imaginations and as long as they feel secure and allowed to express their feelings, they can play endlessly.?
When it comes to homeschooling her brood, the Brazil native feels like doing the work ?isn?t that dire? for her little ones. ?They will read. They will learn math. All at their own pace,? Baccarin explained to Us.
The Homeland alum ?never expected to be a teacher, caretaker, mother and cook,? she went on to tell Us. ?I?m beginning to feel like a pioneer woman! It?s a lot on parents right now. Being everything for your kid?s and your partners. We have good and bad days.?

Upon first read, Morena?s comment about not expecting, ?to be a teacher, caretaker, mother and cook,? seems a bit short-sighted considering those are the roles anyone who becomes a parent takes on when they have a child. But in context, I can see where she?s coming from. I think the first part is due to the obvious, that Morena and Ben hire people to look after the children while they work and who probably others to cook and clean for them. Assuming all those roles at once would be a shock for anyone who?s not used to it. But even those of us who perform the majority of those tasks regularly, becoming all things to all people has been tough, especially if you had to take on becoming a multi-hyphenate while performing work responsibilities from 9-5. And none of that factors in the emotional toll any of this has taken.
I do like Morena?s approach, though, in letting her kids learn on their own time. Hopefully schools will be as understanding as they say they will and any grade slippage will be weighed against these extraordinary circumstances. Morena is right, the kids will still be learning whatever it is and being able to do so at their own pace might be the best thing that happened to some, it takes the pressure off. I also like the idea of seeing myself as a pioneer woman doing everything, like they?ll write novels about me some day. I should probably invest in some gingham and a butter churn.

Morena Baccarin reprises her role as Wade Wilson?s love interest, Vanessa, in Deadpool 2, which I won?t say too much about to avoid spoilers. While there is some small context to ask Morena about kids given her character?s arc, it seems like the questions turned to her little ones because most interviewers can?t really seem to grasp the idea that there are other things to ask a woman. Anyway, Morena was asked what it?s like to have two kids under five in the house with husband Ben McKenzie. According to Morena, it?s a real-life game of Survivor, one she hopes they will all come out of in one piece.
Ever since becoming a mother of two, Morena Baccarin has one goal: survive.
?One kid is like, OK, life has changed. All your attention goes to one kid,? the Gotham star told Us Weekly at the 2018 Fragrance Foundation Awards in NYC on Tuesday, June 12. ?With two you?re just trying to survive. If you get through the day and no one has died, everything is good.?
Baccarin, 39, and husband Ben McKenzie are parents of 2-year-old daughter Frances. The Deadpool 2 actress shares son, Julius, 4, with former spouse Austin Chick.
?I have two toddlers, 4 and 2,? Baccarin told Us. ?Four is not really a toddler but it?s still that dwindling toddler age. There?s still a little bit of that . . . he?s not always rational.?
But despite the tantrums, being a mom is the Brazil native?s favorite role to date. ?It?s just very humbling,? she revealed. ?It?s an experience that is about watching a human being become a person. It?s really incredible and it makes you see the world through their eyes and I wish we lived in that world.?

There is a sense of battle mode with kids that young, aged that close together. Especially because you stupidly believe the children will act the same way their sibling did at each stage. But children like to feed off of your fear so the minute you show any confidence, they switch up their game plan. I?m kidding. I agree with Morena that when you go from two parents devoting all their attention to one non-ambulatory child to dividing focus between two crazed toddlers, all bets are off. You live your life behind the eight-ball until they leave for college.
Morena also talked about her bond with Ben and how they keep things alive with date nights. Morena said, ?The bond between you really has to be strong in order to survive the trials and tribulations of being a parent.? Its not bad advice but given the origin story to their relationship, Im not sure Ill seek their suggestions in that area.

I honestly quite like a good old-fashioned messy start to a celebrity relationship. People are so cautious and overly PR-friendly, so it?s nice when two people who should know better end up falling in love in the middle of a shady and messy situation. So it is with Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie. They started working together on Gotham when Morena was very much married to husband Austin Chick. Soon Morena and Ben were in the midst of an affair (a rather torrid one, from the sound of it) and before Morena could even properly file for divorce, she ended up pregnant. With Ben?s baby. Morena and Austin spent more than a year fighting about money and custody of their kid together, and Morena gave birth to her second child, a little girl named Frances, last year. They also announced their engagement last fall, even though I wondered at the time if her divorce had even been finalized. I guess so, because Morena and Ben got married last Friday.
Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie are married! Seven months after getting engaged, PEOPLE has learned that the Gotham costars tied the knot on Friday ? Baccarin?s 38th birthday ? at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn, New York. To celebrate their nuptials, the couple, whose romance was revealed in September 2015 when they were spotted getting cozy at Emmys afterparties, was joined by family members and close friends for the small, intimate ceremony.
In March of last year, the duo welcomed their first child together: daughter Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan, now 15 months.
The Deadpool actress, who is mom to 3-year-old son Julius with estranged husband Austin Chick, said of McKenzie?s support before the pair welcomed Frances, ?Ben?s the sweetest? It?s very nice to work with your significant other, especially when you?re pregnant because you know you?ll get some extra TLC and get taken care of.?
?[Being a father] is something I?ve wanted for a long time,? McKenzie, 38, told PEOPLE at the Gotham premiere ahead of his daughter?s birth in 2016. ?I?m excited about all of it, poop, diapers and everything!?

Well, congrats to them. Even though they had a messy beginning, I hope they have a happy marriage. It really did seem like things just ?clicked? between them and they were hellbent on being with each other no matter what. Passionate, I suppose. I wonder if that kind of passion burns out now that they?re married and she?s spending a small fortune to her ex-husband and they?re now taking care of two small kids. Hm.

It?s been a while since we checked in with Morena Baccarin and the messy situation she?s found herself in. To recap, Morena and her husband Austin Chick were having problems and were together on-and-off. They still shared a home in LA. Then Morena started banging Ben McKenzie and she got pregnant. Then Austin and Morena filed for divorce around the same time as the conception. Now Morena and Austin?s divorce has gotten really bitter and it?s quite possible they?ll still be legally married when she gives birth to McKenzie?s baby. Morena and Ben are now living together in NYC and she has primary custody of Julius, her son with Chick. On Tuesday, People Magazine had this story:
As Morena Baccarin prepares to start a family with Gotham costar Ben McKenzie, she’s embroiled in a bicoastal custody battle with estranged husband Austin Chick. In September, a Los Angeles judge ruled in the actress’s favor, allowing her to move their 2-year-old son Julius with her to New York, where she shoots Fox’s Batman origin show. (Baccarin, 36, and Chick, 44, share legal custody, but she has primary physical custody.)
New legal documents obtained by PEOPLE show that even after the couple split this summer, the unemployed writer/producer agreed to stay in N.Y.C. in an apartment Baccarin rented for him so they could co-parent ? until McKenzie came into the picture.
Chick “shipped some furniture there and actually stayed there with the child for approximately two weeks in July. Apparently he changed his mind and returned to Los Angeles with the child when he learned that [Baccarin] had a new boyfriend,” according to the papers.
Baccarin is now expecting a baby with McKenzie, 37, and the court notes that “her obstetrician gynecologist avers it is a high risk pregnancy and advises against extensive air travel” ? another reason for Julius to stay mainly in N.Y.C. with his mom instead of flying back and forth to L.A. every month. A hearing on child and spousal support is set for Nov. 19.
Baccarin and Chick were married for three and a half years, and the court says both “are good parents and bonded with their son.”

Some of you think that Austin Chick is behaving like a butthurt douche in this situation, but I genuinely feel sorry for him a little bit. I believe that he and Morena were having problems, but I also think that he believed they were trying to work it out, and they were still living in the same house together and raising their kid. And then she starting banging Ben McKenzie. So what is Austin supposed to do? Uproot his life and go to NYC so he can watch his pregnant, estranged wife play house with her new lover? It?s a really messy situation.

As we learned a week ago, Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie are a couple now. They?ve been a couple for months, even though Morena only filed for divorce back in June of this year. Coincidentally, June was the same month that she got pregnant with Ben?s child. As you can imagine, Morena?s estranged husband Austin Chick is having some issues with this turn of events and to be quite honest, I don?t blame him. Morena is now using her pregnancy and her relationship with Ben ? and their plans to marry!!! ? as the reason why Chick shouldn?t have joint custody of their child together. Basically, the press is not really on Morena?s side. So an ?insider? close to Morena went to Us Weekly to explain what really happened:
Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie are ?genuinely happy with everything right now,? says a Baccarin source, who adds that Morena is trying not to let her contentious split from Austin Chick spoil her exciting news. ?But divorces are always stressful.?
Although Chick claims that the conception of the child Morena is currently carrying was right when they were trying to work things out, a source insists: ?There is nothing salacious. Morena and Austin were having problems for a long time and separated in the spring before things with Ben turned romantic. They started talking about divorce back then.?
As Morena?s three-year marriage fizzled, Morena turned to her leading man.
?They spoke on the phone as friends,? says the Baccarin source. ?Ben was her moral support and helped her get through a difficult time.? During the lengthy chats, the onscreen lovers fell for each other. Says the source: ?it turned romantic.?
Baccarin became pregnant almost immediately. ?I don?t know that it was planned, but it was very happy news. They were overjoyed.?
Still, they kept their romance under wraps when they resumed work in June. ?They didn?t blast their love with a megaphone. They are both reserved and acted that way on set,? says the source, who also tells Us Weekly that Ben and Morena are preparing for their new arrival and planning a wedding.

On Friday, we discussed the hot mess that is Morena Baccarin?s romantic life. Morena married Austin Chick (seen in the photo above) a few years ago and they have a 1-year-old son together. Austin filed for divorce in late June, and as we now know, it was because Morena was bangin? her Gotham costar, Benjamin McKenzie. Not only did Morena cheat on her husband with her costar, she also got pregnant by McKenzie when she was still very much married to Chick. In fact, it?s looking more and more like her pregnancy is one of the big reasons why Chick filed for divorce in the first place. Morena was photographed last week with her bump on full display, and hand to God, she looks about four to five months along. Do that math!
Anyway, the side story to all of this is that Austin Chick and Morena still aren?t divorced and they?ve been fighting over custody of their son. Now that the McKenzie Baby is out of the bag, Chick is using Morena?s affair in the custody dispute:
“Gotham” star Morena Baccarin is rubbing her estranged husband’s nose in her affair with co-star Ben McKenzie, to the point the husband came home and found Ben freshly showered, playing with his son. Baccarin and Austin Chick have been locked in a custody battle over their 1-year-old son. Chick says the boy is in a confusing, unhealthy environment, pointing to an incident in August — 2 months after he filed for divorce — saying he came home to get his stuff and found Ben “had just taken a shower and he was playing with my son.”
Chick says Morena has told him she’s 3 1/2 months pregnant, and he says in the legal docs, “This places the moment of conception right in the first week of June, 2015, the time she was telling me she wanted to work on our marriage and well before we stopped sharing a bed.” In previous legal docs, Morena has claimed they were already talking about separating in March.

Letting your jumpoff shower in your husband?s bathroom? Yikes. I think if Chick really wanted to go to war with Morena, he has more than enough ammo. But for now, the judge says that Morena and Austin will have joint custody, with Morena taking over primary custody of the kid in New York City for now.
Oh, and Morena has now told the court that she?s moving on with her new baby-daddy and they plan to marry. On September 11, Morena informed the court: ?Today, I am in a new committed relationship. I am planning to re-marry. Also, I am three-and-a-half months pregnant.” Entertainment Tonight?s sources also say that Morena?s affair with Ben has been going on for a while, and that Ben visited Morena in Vancouver in March-May while she was filming Deadpool. I kind of wonder? do you think Ben is down with Morena telling the court that they will be getting married? It?s moving pretty fast, I?m just saying. So messy.

I?ve been looking for an excuse to talk about the new season of Homeland for weeks now, and I guess this is it. Let?s get to the business at hand. Morena Baccarin (who plays Brody?s wife in Homeland) gave birth on Tuesday! In this current season of Homeland, you can really see her pregnancy, although the directors are really trying to hide it. I kind of wonder why they didn?t just write it into the story? She could be carrying Mike?s baby. That would have been a much more interesting storyline than the mess with g?damn Dana. Anyway, Morena?s baby news is interesting because she not only gave birth naturally? she gave birth BREECH and naturally.
It?s a boy! Actress Morena Baccarin and her husband Austin Chick welcomed their first child, a son, on Tuesday, Oct. 22, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
Born in Glendale, Calif., Julius weighed in at just under eight pounds.
?Julius and his mother are happy and healthy,? the rep adds.
Despite being breech, the Homeland actress successfully delivered her baby boy naturally with the help of Dr. Ronald Wu at Glendale Adventist Medical Center. He is the only doctor in the Los Angeles area who offers expectant mothers the option to birth a breech baby in a hospital.
?I?m so happy I was able to deliver with Dr. Wu,? Baccarin, 34, tells PEOPLE. ?Breech delivery is a dying art and he gave me the birth experience I wanted.?

You know how queasy I am about childbirth and such, so this story made me want to vom. No disrespect! In fact, all the respect out there to the ladies who feel this strongly about having a natural childbirth. As soon as I hear the word ?breech,? I?m already reaching for the stronger drugs I have in my house. Let?s change the subject.
SPOILERS for Season 3 Homeland?
I kept waiting for the conspiracy theories of Season 2 to come to fruition in the first few episodes. I feel like the writers still have some big cards to play about Brody?s involvement in the Langley bombing, but so far those cards have not been played beyond Carrie?s Senate hearing freak out. I was so disappointed in Carrie for going off her meds, but I was actually enjoying the storyline about Carrie getting better in the psych ward and all of that. But then this week?s episode with the twist ending? okay, was anyone else crying? At first I was just so pleased that the writers had played the audience so beautifully, but then I had the sinking realization of just how far Carrie had taken it so her downfall could be ?authentic?. Many were left wondering just when Saul and Carrie had put their plan into place ? Homeland?s showrunner discussed the backstory with EW. Apparently, Carrie and Saul decided to ?controversialize? Carrie just weeks after the Langley bombing.
As for the continued storylines with the Brody family? Jesus, I couldn?t care less. And that?s no slam on poor Morena ? if the writers put some time into making her into something other than a harried mother, that character might be interesting. But as it is now, it feels like that part of the show is a completely different show. Also: Brody in Caracas? Blah. I kind of wanted to see more of that creepy doctor though. Make him a terrorist!

With Showtime's "Homeland" set to make its season three debut on September 29th, Morena Baccarin graced the cover of Los Angeles Confidential's September 2013 issue.
While donning designer duds from Cushnie et Ochs and Miriam Salat for the Gavin Bond-shot spread, the 34-year-old actress chatted about her successful series and reveals how DC's elite react to "Homeland."

On expecting her first child:
"I am not going to be pregnant on the show."
On Joe Biden's interest in the series:
"Apparently, in his Monday morning security meetings, Vice President Biden will talk about the show, how realistic it is. I was floored by that-here are the leaders of our nation talking about our show!"
On "Homeland's" Success:
"You pinch yourself for a long time. Every time our season comes out, I kind of feel like, 'Okay- this is the one that everybody's going to hate. This is where we go to, like, being the show that everybody doesn't like...' And then it doesn't seem to happen."
On her frequent nude scenes:
"I had my boundaries, and I had to have a conversation with myself about where I wanted to be true to the material and also to myself. There were things that I wouldn't do and certain levels of nudity that I was not comfortable with, and I was really blunt with them about it."
On her past struggles:
"Being different is something that eventually helps you and singles you out. I remember seeing a squirrel for the first time in school and not knowing how to say it in English, saying it in Portuguese, and everybody kind of looking at me really strangely. It rocks your world. Moving countries is a huge, traumatic experience, but at the same time it made me really adaptable and really fearless."
