I guess I?m out of the baby loop, because I had no idea there was a magazine devoted to American babies called, obviously enough, American Baby. Somali baby? Not interested. Sri Lankan baby? Nope. Dutch baby? Go away! American babies only. So, the cover of the newest issue of American Baby is pregnant American model/actress/professional-friend-of-Taylor-Swift Jaime King. King is very pregnant with her second child and she?s been giving a lot of interviews during this pregnancy, talking about body-shaming pregnant women and new mothers and how she ?cried for five hours? after people criticized Kim Kardashian?s pregnant body. This interview is more of the same. Some highlights:
Body image while pregnant: “Pregnancy is the ultimate symbol of womanhood, beauty and sensuality, so make it a celebration of creating life. You don’t have to hide anything or try to suck in your belly. Why not put on things that are tighter, flashier, or more fun? Wearing formfitting clothes totally counteracts that voice inside of us that says, ‘Ugh, I just want to lie down all day and sleep. I feel it’s really important to feel good about yourself, and fashion is part of that.”
She knows what it?s like to be body-shamed: “I know what it feels like to be body-shamed. People have made comments about how I’m too thin and need to eat a sandwich. I’ve seen it happen with other pregnant women in this business too?we’re either too thin or put on too much weight. But every woman’s body is different. All that matters is that you’re taking care of the nutrition for yourself and your child. Don’t let other people get you down, and don’t put other women down, either.”
Asking ladies like Jessica Alba & Taylor Swift to be her children?s godmothers: “I asked myself, ‘God forbid anything happened to me, would she take care of my child as if he were her own? What kind of morals would she instill? Will she be backup support if for any reason my child doesn’t want to come to me for something?’ I looked for giving people whom I admire, and those two give more than anyone I’ve ever met.”
She loves everything about pregnancy: ?Probably because of how long it took me to get pregnant?seven years?and all that I went through with endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome.?
Her son James: “He does not hold on to hurt feelings, so he’ s given me a get-over-yourself attitude. Now when something bothers me, I think, ‘I should be like James Knight and get over it in two seconds.. Parents can really learn from kids about letting go. Every time I look at my son, he makes me want to be a better person.”

I have no interest in body-shaming any pregnant woman, although I do think Jaime sort of ignores the fact that some (not all) pregnant celebrities invite the general public into every part of their baby-making, pregnancy and childrearing and then freak out as soon as they get one piece of criticism. My general rule is to give pregnant ladies more of a pass for everything so even though I think it?s sort of weird that Jaime King is, like, pregnant as a profession now, so be it. I do have a problem with this: “Pregnancy is the ultimate symbol of womanhood, beauty and sensuality…” If you feel beautiful and sensual during your pregnancy, God bless and good for you. But some women do manage to be womanly, beautiful and sensual without ever being pregnant. It seems like Jaime is “shaming” non-mothers and women who can’t have children a little bit.
Can I shame her about those bangs though? Because she?s a lovely woman but those bangs are atrocious.

Because I?m an idiot, I thought Jaime King was still, like, 26 years old. I remember when she was first on the scene as an actress/model, and I guess my mind was sort of stuck in that mindset. It wasn?t until today, just now, that I realized that she?s actually 35 years old. So, she?s 35 years old, she?s married and she has a one-year-old son, James. Jaime opened up to People Magazine in this week?s issue about the long ordeal she had to go through just to get pregnant. It really sounds like she had some major fertility issues.
She is a doting mom to one-year-old son James Knight. And while actress Jaime King is relishing her time as a parent nowadays, she is also reflecting on her painful past with infertility. In hopes of helping other women with similar difficulties of conceiving, the 35-year-old Hart Of Dixie star shared details about her ordeal in the latest issue of People magazine.
‘I felt so broken. Women are supposed to bear children and I couldn’t,’ she told the publication. The path to motherhood was a steep and winding road for Jaime, who welcomed her little one with husband Kyle Newman after several painful treatments of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
‘I’ve had five miscarriages, gone through five rounds of IVF and 26 rounds of IUI,’ she revealed. ‘I was in severe pain all the time, emotionally and physically.’ The former model added, ‘I always thought I would have three of four children. I felt so ashamed. Everyone who goes through it feels that way, no matter where they’re from.’
Not knowing what exactly was causing her so much discomfort, the star visited her obstetrician-gynecologist. She was diagnosed with endometriosis as well as polycystic ovary syndrome, a condition that affects female sex hormones and fertility.
‘I was so happy that someone was finally explaining to me what was happening. Nobody was talking about it. I was hiding what I was going through for so long and I hear about so many women going through. If I’m open about it hopefully it won’t be so taboo to talk abut it. What’s the point of having a voice if you don’t use it. So I felt a responsibility to be very authentic, honest and real.’
Jaime went through nearly five years of fertility treatments but eventually wound up getting pregnant naturally.
‘When I got pregnant it was the best thing in the whole world. I had never felt so grateful,’ she gushed. ‘I was elated but cautious. I felt awful, but it was nothing compared to what I went through with fertility.?
On motherhood: ‘I’m proud. It’s the greatest role I’ve ever had, and having these honest conversations is everything.’

Endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, five years of IVF and 26 rounds of IUI and after all that, she got pregnant naturally?!? That?s crazy. Although I?ve heard many stories like that ? after spending thousands of dollars on costly fertility treatments with no results, the couple goes off the treatments and gets pregnant soon after. As for her message, I think it?s good that she?s talking about it. I think most people avoid talking about these kinds of fertility issues because they are so painful and personal, but I think a lot of women feel ?shame? at having issues and really, there?s should be no shame. Some women cannot get pregnant at the drop of a hat. Some women need help. And some women just aren?t interested in general. There?s no shame in any of it.

Even though I expected a much better, much more A-list turnout at the annual Art of Elysium gala last night, I can?t say I was disappointed by the fashion at all. There were a lot of Fashion Girls and girls-famous-for-walking-red-carpets, and as such, the dress p0rn was rather good. The name of this year?s pre-Globes Art of Elysium gala was ?Marina Abramovic’s HEAVEN.? If you?re looking for a style theme, I think it?s ?radically different hair.? Lots of ladies were trying out the new hairstyles and hair colors. Just FYI: I don?t have IDs on some of these dresses, and I?m sorry about that. I seriously can?t find them!
I think my favorite look of this group was Jaime King in Valentino, with Neil Lane jewels. This dress isn?t the most amazing dress ever or anything like that, but it?s a lovely, flattering dress with an interesting pattern. The colors are lovely, the fit is good and she looks great in it. Total win.
Here?s Camilla Belle in Carolina Herrera. She decided to change up her hair by going way lighter. I?m not sure it really suits her? I don?t think the Herrera dress suits her either. This is the kind of dress that we should see on Julianne Moore or something. It?s too matronly for Camilla.
Camila Alves changed up her hair too by lightening it. Again, I don?t think it suits her. I don?t have an ID on this dress ? it looks like Dolce & Gabbana to me, and she wears a lot of D&G, but I don?t have a confirmation. The dress is okay. Boring but okay.
Paz Vega went radically different with this haircut. Like, I barely recognized her. I throw a lot of shade at short haircuts, but just know? I?m not ALWAYS opposed to short hair. I just think ladies should be honest with themselves about what kind of style suits their face. And can we say that a pixie cut suits Paz?s face? No. We cannot. She looked much better with the chin-length hair she was rocking just a few months ago. As for her Carolina Herrera dress? it?s okay. Blah.
Dita Von Teese looked fantastic, but I always think she looks fantastic. No ID on the dress, but her jewels are by Avakian. CB thinks Dita?s dress could be Zac Posen? usually Posen does more structural designs, but could be.

Did any of you watch MTV’s House of Style during the 1990s? That was when I first became aware of Jaime King (after she hosted a 1998 episode). She was known as “James” King and was part of the heroin-chic era of models. Jaime was indeed addicted to the drug and got clean after her boyfriend, photog David Sorrenti, died of an overdose.
Jaime has since moved from the runway into acting. She’s not a huge name but works steadily. Jaime currently stars in Hart of Dixie (CB digs that show) and will soon appear in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (I’m looking forward to that movie even if no one else cares). She seems to enjoy her new-ish wholesome life as a parent to a 10-month-old boy, James, with husband Kyle Newman.
Jaime uses her Instagram account to rile up the masses. She upset hipsters by declaring normcore “lame.” She made a splash by posting a breastfeeding photo to Instagram. Now she’s revealed her struggles with PCOS and endometriosis. Jaime’s condition was undiagnosed for many years, and she endured five miscarriages (and an ectopic pregnancy) before her successful experience with baby James. She wants her fellow sufferers to know they’re not alone:
“For all the struggling women & moms out there that think they are alone – This is the truth about conceiving my son and struggles after. 8 yrs of pain and undiagnosed PCOS & Endometriosis. 9 doctors until Dr. Randy Harris diagnosed me & saved my life from a severe ectopic, 5 miscarriages, 5 rounds of IVF, 26 IUI’s, most with no outcome, 4 1/2 years of trying to conceive, 26 hours of brutal labor, early delivery b/c of sudden preeclampsia, tearing and tearing after the stitches were in once I was home, milk supply issues, painful mastitis, uncontrollable crying while breast feeding, worked until the day before I [gave] birth and went back after 6 weeks after because I was afraid of letting others down.”

After I started writing this post, Jaime deleted this statement and photo from Instagram. I have no idea why she yanked it. I did see some cruel internet comments poking fun at her for claiming to be “brave.” I do think the subject should be discussed, and it sucks that Jaime was pressured to delete her post. Many women suffer from PCOS and endometriosis. Both afflictions are terribly painful and often misdiagnosed. Awareness of the subject can only be a good thing.
Jaime seems like a cool chick. Did you know that she’s friends with Lana Del Rey? I included a photo of them on a coffee date together.

It?s an exciting time over at Jaime King and Kyle Newman?s house, as they just brought a new baby boy into the world.
The 34-year-old actress/model and her 37-year-old director hubby are thrilled to be parents to their first child together, and Kyle celebrated with a Twitter/Instagram post.
Newman shared a photo of their little guy?s hand with the caption, "Nice to meet you! FATHER #IMADAD #BABYTIME @jaime_king is doing amazing! The most incredible feeling."
Ms. King previously told press that she was having a difficult time putting together her baby?s nursery- "I started looking online but it's really hard to find the right crib. There are a couple that I really like, but it has to go with the rest of my house because my house is mid-century. There are so many things when you're having a kid that you have to think about. It's overwhelming!"
