| Dita Von Teese slams the Kardashians' corsets: 'It's like the blind leading the blind' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Dita Von Teese is honestly one of my favorite celebrities to cover. I appreciate what she does and who she is, because I feel like she really works at being a self-taught scholar of burlesque, beauty, femininity and fashion. She really works at putting her own image together, and it really works. Dita has been making the rounds for a few weeks to promote her new book, Your Beauty Mark. This week, she ended up sitting down with HuffPo to chat about the book, and she ended up making news because of what she said about the Kardashians. Her diss ? if you want to call it that ? was about the Kardashians? paid-endorsements of those absolutely stupid ?waist-trainers.? Kim and Khloe Kardashian are the ones constantly posting ?waist-training? selfies and encouraging women to basically buy fancy girdles and corsets. Dita ? a student/scholar of the history of corsetry ? thinks the Kardashian waist-training phenomenon is stupid. This is what she told HuffPo:
“I think it’s funny because I’m watching [the trend] and it’s like the blind leading the blind? People that actually know a lot about corsetry are not the ones that are publicly speaking about it. And I’m seeing some of these corsets that they’re saying are waist shapers and I’m like, ‘That doesn’t work.’ They’re like stretchy fabric. If you really want to get into it, you should probably look into the real corset makers that have been doing it for decades and decades. There are lots of experts on it, but I don’t know that you should be jumping on the bandwagon to sing the praises of corsets?.It seems to be a fast fix, and it is. If you put on a corset and you pull the strings tight, you instantly have this silhouette and it’s great — but it’s not going to modify your body if you’re not engaged in the serious regimen of it.”
[From HuffPo]
She?s absolutely right. And this is what gets me about the Kardashians-as-snake-oil-salesmen: the sh-t that they shill is usually the worst of the worst. They?re basically wearing really tight, undersized corsets and claiming that wearing the corsets while working out will radically change your body. And Dita?s right? all they?re doing is temporarily wearing a corset for a short time and calling it a ?waist-trainer.? Anyway? Dita slammed the Kardashians. Go get ?em, Dita!

| Dita Von Teese is 'not appalled' by twerking, considers it an 'everyday vulgarity' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Dita Von Teese has given several interesting interviews over the past few weeks, but I?ve hesitated over covering Dita because I sometimes wonder if you guys give a crap. I LOVE her, though, and I enjoy hearing what she has to say about hair, makeup, clothes and pop culture. Dita is cool to me because A) she?s a lot smarter than people think and B) while she?s never going to be the ?most beautiful? person ever, she?s brilliant at maximizing her assets and always looking flawless. Basically, I?d rather hear what Dita has to say about almost everything.
First up, here?s Dita?s take on Miley Cyrus and ?twerking?:
Dita Von Teese is not impressed by Miley Cyrus? twerking routine. ?I?m not someone who is appalled by Miley Cyrus, thinking it?s vulgar,? Von Teese, in a low-cut Carolina Herrera dress, told us at Van Cleef and Arpel?s flagship opening on Madison Avenue.
?I love the very beautiful combined with the vulgar. The problem is, I don?t find it very beautiful. I?m more interested in looking at a Helmut Newton photograph of fetishistic situations and nudity and er0ticism .?.?. that drives my imagination, not the everyday vulgarity.? Noted!
[From Page Six]
I agree with Dita ? do whatever you want with your body, but I have the right to think that Miley?s ?twerking? is not beautiful and, in fact, vulgar. Dita?s all about the celebration (in an adult way) of sexuality.
Dita also had a recent interview with YourTango which you can read here. I enjoyed several of these quotes:
YourTango: Do you feel sexier now in your 40s than you did in your 20s?
Dita Von Teese: Definitely. I’d say between my 30s and now I’ve felt my best because I don’t have to try to get acceptance from other people anymore. I feel very settled in myself, this is who I am. It’s easy for me to say what I want.
YourTango: Are you dating anyone?
Dita Von Teese: No, I’m single, just dating casually. I do a lot of juggling of dates. It’s fun.
YourTango: Do you want to get married again?
Dita Von Teese: I’d love to, I just haven’t met the person I’m ready to get married to.
YourTango: Do you want kids, either having your own or marrying a man with children?
Dita Von Teese: I’m open to anything. I don’t have any restrictions. I try to be open to whatever happens.
YourTango: What’s the quirkiest thing you do when it comes to love and relationships?
Dita Von Teese: There are so many tricky elements about dating. I’m always struggling with how to bounce a man out of bed. There’s no nice way to say, ‘You can’t sleep here.’ I’m still struggling with the lingo for that. When I was in my 20s, any guy I was with would get up and go home, and now they don’t want to leave. Is it because my bed is so comfy? I don’t know what that is!
YourTango: Is there a celebrity people would be surprised to know you once dated?
Dita Von Teese: Yes, but I would never reveal that.
YourTango: How do you keep things spicy in your relationships?
Dita Von Teese: I’m an advocate of great lingerie. I think that being open and making someone feel like they can tell you anything and you’re not going to get offended is a big thing?having such a great relationship with somebody that you can tell them exactly what you want, and they can tell you what they want, and nobody ever gets their feelings hurt or feels weird or uncomfortable.
YourTango: What are the biggest mistakes that guys make in the bedroom?
Dita Von Teese: Trying to learn about sex through p0rn.
YourTango: What are the biggest mistakes that women make in the bedroom?
Dita Von Teese: I don’t know, it’s been a long time since I slept with a woman! I guess you’d have to ask a man. No, I know what you mean. Women need to stop thinking that men are judging their bodies. Men don’t care about cellulite. Men aren’t looking at your stomach. They’re so happy that you’re there and you have your clothes off!
YourTango: Where’s the wildest place you’ve had sex?
Dita Von Teese: My wildest sex has been behind closed doors because you can be more free. My days of public sex, I don’t really do that sort of thing anymore.
[From Your Tango]
I laughed at the part about trying to learn how to ?bounce? a guy from her bed. Imagine you?re that dude and you just slept with Dita Von Teese and you?re like, ?Yeah, I?m spending the night!? And she?s like, ?Um, no.? I wonder what celebrity she?s dated but won?t reveal? I?ve always wanted her to get with George Clooney ? I think they would be a great couple. I was half-expecting to hear her say that they had dated at some point.

| Dita Von Teese Sues over Hurricane Sandy | Added 11 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

Hurricane Sandy caused millions of dollars in damage and wreaked havoc on the Jersey Shore, but apparently Dita Von Teese was also a victim of the natural disaster.
According to a lawsuit filed by the burlesque babe, one of her shows in New York was canceled last October due to the storm.
In her complaint obtained by TMZ, the entertainer claims Momentous Insurance Brokerage failed to get her the appropriate insurance to cover expenses.
The show must have been a doozy because Dita says she spent $96,920 in props, costumes, hotel rooms, and more, but all was lost when the gig was cancelled. Irked at the oversight, Ms. Von Teese says she should have been issued non-appearance insurance, which would have covered the natural disaster.

Stepping out in style for some product promotion, Dita Von Teese appeared at the Obliphica booth during the Cosmoprof Convention at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas on Monday (July 15).
The burlesque beauty wore a sleeveless long floral-patterned gown with her jet black hair and red lipstick as she posed for photos.
Recently, the porcelain-skinned performer had high praise for Scarlett Johansson, hoping she might follow her lead.
Speaking about the "Lost in Translation" star, Dita explained, "If I had to pick one of today's celebrities to be a burlesque dancers I'd chose Scarlett Johansson. She came to one of my [burlesque] shows once, she was sitting front row with her mouth agape and she couldn't take her eyes off of me. She has a great body and you can see that she has a good relationship with her own sexuality.''

| Dita Von Teese Wears First 3D Printed Dress | Added 11 years ago | Source: The Blemish |

Dita Von Teese showed off the world’s first fully-articulated, 3D-printed dress yesterday. Containing almost 3,000 joints, it’s able to drape and flow with the curves of any woman. The dress was made exclusively for her by Francis Bitonti and Michael Schmidt.
From far away, this looks a lot like those fishnets hookers like to wear but way classier. Meaning, the draping and flowing with the curves only works for some women like, say, Dita Von Teese or Candice Swanepoel and not for others like, say, Christina Aguilera or Jessica Simpson. Dresses like this should pretty much have a tag on it that says “no fat chicks.”

| Dita Von Teese in Jenny Packham at British Fashion Awards: awesome or awful? | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These are photos from last night?s British Fashion Awards, held in London. I actually really like this event ? I guess it?s comparable to the American CFDAs, only I feel like the British Fashion Awards are more rock ?n roll, and less stuffy. Let?s start with Dita Von Teese, shall we? Dita wore this fantastic Jenny Packham gown which I absolutely adore. You know what a sucker I am for a well-cut long-sleeved gown, and I love this. It suits Dita too.
Amber Valetta was one my favorite ladies of the evening ? I love her and I love this gown. Yes, it?s kind of nipply, but she pulls it off without looking too trashy. I love the color!
Rita Ora in Vivienne Westwood. We?ve seen this dress many different times (in different colors), to varying results. Rita?s body looks good, but her face tells me that she?s not comfortable. Perhaps it?s the corseted waist?
Lily Allen was another one of my favorites ? this maternity gown looks amazing on her, and it?s the perfect color and cut. She?s looks happy and healthy. I hope all is well with her.
Cara Delivigne won ?Model of the Year?. I wouldn?t have been able to pick her out of a lineup. And that Burberry minidress is? interesting. I?m surprised Kristen Stewart hasn?t worn it yet.
And because it?s something of a running joke around here, here?s Stella McCartney picking up her award for Designer of the Year. THIS IS WHAT SHE WORE. Her own design, of course. Because WHY NOT wear a faux-wrap, strapless, bejeweled, tapered-legged jumpsuit? Because of course.

| Dita Von Teese goes drag-king in a formal tuxedo for Halloween: amazing? | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These are photos from Bette Midler?s annual Halloween NYC party, which she throws as a benefit for the New York Restoration Project (NYRP), which helps fund city gardens and community development and such. Bette?s been working with the NYRP for years and decades. This year, I think Dita Von Teese might have been the ?hostess? or host or something. Look at Dita! Usually for Halloween, Dita dresses up like a ?real girl? ? as in, she?ll wear jeans and a blonde wig instead of her usual, everyday pin-up costume. I like Dita in a formal tux ? she pulls it off admirably. I would look like a total heifer in this.
Here?s Debra Messing as? Marie Antoinette?? I like this kind of costume ? it feels like she put some thought into it and really tried to create a whole ?look?.
And here are Bette and Debbie Harry. Bette looks good, but I think Debbie is? um? too old to be dressing like this for Halloween.

| Dita Von Teese Says to Pluck Your Nipple Hairs Before a Date | Added 12 years ago | Source: The Blemish |

|
Dita Von Teese gave some sage advice to Into the Gloss about how to be a lady while plugging her beauty book.
Apart from the laundry list of things a woman shouldn’t do in front of a guy, like dye their hair, she says about her book, “I’m going to tell you that you have to pluck the nipple hairs off your nipples before a date — I’m here to tell you that.”
That goes without saying doesn’t it? What other obvious suggestions is she going to give in her book? Before you sleep with a guy, make sure you don’t have any dingleberries?
