Last month, we looked at some photos of Kristen Stewart in costume, filming the new Woody Allen movie. The movie seems to be a period setting, probably immediately post WWII? And Kristen?s costumes are what I would call ?bobbysoxer Lolita.? Like, she?s supposed to look very young, like a teenager, but also kind of showy and trying to be mature, I guess. The whole thing is just yet another example of Woody Allen?s problematic relationships with women, in real life and on the page. But what does Woody?s latest muse think of all of this? Kristen really likes him because he?s gentle AND ?dom-like.? Wait, what?
Kristen Stewart took a break from filming Woody Allen’s latest movie to promote Drake Doremus’ Equals at the Venice and Toronto film festivals. As usual, very little is known about the Allen film, but Stewart tells THR that the role is a stretch for her.
“I’ve never played anyone like this. She’s quite buoyant and exemplifies lightness. People usually cast me to be the silent, quiet type,” says the actress, who stars alongside Steve Carell, Jesse Eisenberg and Blake Lively. As for working with Allen, Stewart says he’s “exactly what you expect him to be. Woody’s an interesting guy. He’s gentle, which I didn’t necessarily expect because he’s quite dom-like and can be sarcastic, but he’s so cut-and-dried, too. He minces no words.”
As for specifics about the movie, Stewart admits that she’s “not allowed to talk about it.”
Fortunately, she did elaborate on whether she feels typecast in Hollywood.
“No, because I started when I was really young, as a kid, and then I still feel like I’m a kid. But more so when I was younger I was attracted to things that felt immediately close to me. That was what moved me. ‘I know I can do that ? that is me.’ I feel like even with this new character that I’m playing [in Allen's movie], I wouldn’t want to play her unless I think somewhere in there (points to herself), she’s there,” said the actress, who made a quick pit stop in Toronto for the showing of Equals. (She also found time to pop into Hooters.) “I’m not a character actor at all. If I were to play a murderous villain, I would justify why they murdered people. I would be like, ‘Well you know what? They had a terrible upbringing.’ I would have to understand them. I can never disagree with people that I play, which some time could be a problem; it could limit me, but I don’t think so. I think it just might make me better at what I choose.”
[From The Hollywood Reporter]
Some of you have accused Kristen of falling deep into a Palin-esque word salad hole, and you guys might have a point. Who in the right mind uses ?dom-like? to describe Woody Allen? As in, he?s a dom/dominant? That?s a sexual term and I would really prefer if Woody?s latest muse didn?t use that kind of terminology to describe him. *shudder*
As for her word salad about how she?s ?not a character actor at all? because she has to understand and relate to the characters she plays? I don?t think those words mean what she thinks they mean. A character actor is someone playing wildly different characters, usually in supporting roles. And being a character actor versus being a leading actor has nothing to do with motivations and how you understand your character. She?s describing, in her own peculiar way, Stanislavski?s Method Acting, which is all about getting to the emotional truth of a character, and that?s the method many actors (both character and lead) use. Instead of taking varied roles and exploring those depths, Kristen is basically saying that she only plays characters she relates to already, meaning she?s just playing herself over and over all while throwing shade at career character actors doing compelling, varied and emotionally honest work consistently.

| Kristen Stewart in Chanel at the TIFF 'Equals' premiere: pretty or awkward' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Kristen Stewart at last night?s TIFF premiere of Equals, the futuristic film which costars Nicholas Hoult. Kristen gamely posed for photos and managed to avoid many of her red carpet traps, like bad posture, lip-biting and general awkwardness (although she did play with her greasy-looking hair too much). Kristen?s premiere gown was Chanel, of course. In some photos, it reads as black but I?m pretty sure it?s just straight up navy. I imagine it would look ethereal on a model, but on Kristen? I?m not sure it works. Like, she doesn?t look completely stupid, so it works on some level. But Kristen is always better in cocktail dresses, I think.
The last time I wrote about this film, some anti-K-Stew person yelled at me on Twitter and told me to stop kissing her ass, which is weird, right? Kristen has never been one of my favorite celebrities, but I try to be fair to her and her quirks. So, I won?t say anything about how the film was received, I?ll just concentrate on some of the press Kristen did. She gave an exclusive to People Mag, which you can read here (it?s boring, she?s just saying words). She told Variety that ?At this stage of my life where I?m close to these awakening periods, and it?s a big deal for me, and to represent them so basically and so hard was intimidating as hell.? She also said actors ?love nothing more than to be over-indulgent and think about things too much.? That?s very true. And here are some assorted quotes from her Daily Beast interview:
On overmedicating, the reliance on pills: ??Oh, do you feel something? We can help you with that.? Self-exploration goes out the door with medication. You go, ?Oh god, I have a little stomachache,? and they say, ?Here, we can help you with that.? Well, why do you have that stomachache? Maybe it?s because your head?s in your stomach, so maybe there?s something you?re ignoring that you can work out? It is crazy. It?s weird because if you?re overtly emotional about anything, people discredit what thought you might be contributing, because anything overtly emotional can be viewed as a weakness. It?s interesting what you?re saying about how now we?re trying to suppress emotions or irregularities with drugs and deem people controllable by meds, because I think we?re more in tune and more honest with our emotions now than we have ever been. You think about your grandparents or their grandparents, and you think about the patriarch of the family never showing emotion?with women, too. As we?ve gotten past that, the meds have upped. It?s bizarre. The two things don?t really go together.
On Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk: ?Oh my god. Did you see her come out of jail? Honestly, it makes me so deeply uncomfortable. I feel really bad for her. Anyone who?s so closed off to things that are so apparent? Imagine what else she?s missing out on in life. I?m not making any grand statements about her personally, but if something so glaringly obvious, such as this subject? That?s why I feel bad for her. It?s like, ?Oh, buddy, that must suck.? That fear of the unknown cripples people, breeds hate, and it?s just very sad.
[From The Daily Beast]
She says a lot more about the overreliance on meds and how just because someone is emotional, doesn?t mean they?re mentally ill. She makes some interesting points and I know exactly where she?s coming from and I don?t even completely disagree with her. I even like her compassion for Kim Davis ? like, she thinks it must suck for a person to be filled with so much hate/confusion about LGBT rights and love.

| Kristen Stewart in Chanel at the Venice Film Festival: lovely or boring? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

In the futuristic love story Equals, Kristen Stewart plays a young woman who must remain emotionless at all times. As you can see, she really took to her character. You might even say that she was typecast. Anyway, K-Stew and Nicholas Hoult were in Venice to premiere Equals this weekend. I?m including pics from Saturday?s photocall and from last night?s premiere.
Fashion notes: Kristen is the face of Chanel and she wore Chanel back-to-back at the photocall and premiere. For the photocall, she wore some kind of quilted shorts-and-matching-quilted-top ensemble which? it?s not my thing, but if you?re going to do quilted shorts, they might as well be Chanel. The premiere dress is another story. It doesn?t really suit Kristen and I think she looks rather uncomfortable in it, but I enjoy the fact that she tried to GO BIG, you know? She treated the Venice Film Festival carpet with respect and she really tried to be a major fashion girl. I like her more for that.
Equals created a major buzz at Venice, even though the reviews were mixed. The film picked up some major distributors ? go here to read. Kristen and Hoult also chatted with Deadline about making the film, which they describe as a very emotional experience. Hoult confesses to weeping openly on the set, which just makes me like him even more. Here are some assorted quotes from Kristen:
On fear: ?I think the biggest killer in this life is fear. I think a nice healthy dose of it can be motivating, but if you let it debilitate and dictate how you treat other people, it?s very ugly.?
She was nervous: ?I was nervous going into the movie because of how simple it is and overtly emotional. I?m 25. I?ve been through some stuff and I knew it was going to be painful and I knew if I didn?t do it right I would have hated myself.? The hardest part was ?not allowing yourself to feel something. I wear my heart on my sleeve. If I?m in a mood, my mood shows.?
Her goals: ?[I want to] thrive commercially and the only way I could do that would be genuinely. So everything I?ve ever done that ended up being big or started out being big and ended up not being big, I was always just as invested in those projects as I have been in every small indie. I never choose things in order to switch it up? It sounds like pretention, but it is an art, and it consumes you. I get really stoked when something comes around that?s commercial and they want me because that means I can do these next three things that I?ve been lining up.?
Do we exist? ?Do we still exist if love doesn?t exist? If you don?t have passion for something ? maybe not for another person ? but if you have drive and passion and curiosity, that?s what keeps our world spinning. If you take that away, why would you want to learn anything?? Then she answered her own question, ?Would we still exist if love didn?t? No.?
[From Deadline]
While I still have issues with Kristen-the-Celebrity, I think she?s in an interesting place in her career, and she seems to be in a healthier place in her mindset about her career. I like that she comes out and says that she wants to ?thrive commercially? ? as in, she doesn?t want to do just small indie films for the sake of it, she wants people to see her films, she wants to be enjoyed as an actress.
Incidentally, Alicia Cargile did not come to Venice with Kristen. I do wonder if something is going on between them. Something like? a cooling off period.

| Would you like to see Kristen Stewart in costume for Woody Allen's new film' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

A lot of people have strong feelings about Woody Allen as a man and as an artist. While he disgusts me as a person, I still find myself watching many of his films. I thought Blue Jasmine was excellent, full of amazing performances, nuance, tragedy and humor. I thought Cate Blanchett deserved the Oscar for her tour-de-force performance too. I also thought the costumes stole the show in Blue Jasmine, and it?s worth noting that Woody?s films are always so modestly-budgeted that most of the incredible clothes and jewelry were second-hand, borrowed-and-returned from designers or cheap-o reproductions.
Why bring all of this up? Because these are some photos of Kristen Stewart at work on Woody Allen?s latest film, his first film set in LA since Annie Hall (although Annie Hall only had a few scenes in LA). Judging from the costumes, I?m assuming this still-unnamed film is set around the WWII-era? Like, early to mid-1940s? Maybe. I never would have thought of putting K-Stew in those kinds of period costumes. Kristen as, like, a bobbysoxer? Kristen in culottes? Kristen got this role after auditioning for Woody, which is kind of unusual for the way Woody works ? usually, he has an actor in mind, he gives them part of the script and he tells them that he?d like to work with them. The actors almost always say yes.
Meanwhile, Kristen is still muse-ing for Chanel. She?s been modeling for Chanel in various capacities for more than a year now, and Karl Lagerfeld is so enchanted by K-Stew that he?s going to ?direct? a film with Kristen in the lead role.
Kristen Stewart, Chanel?s newest campaign model, will star in a film directed by designer Karl Lagerfeld for the French fashion house?s upcoming show. The story, conceived by Lagerfeld, offers a fictional, behind-the-scenes look at a biopic in the making about founder Gabrielle Chanel, WWD reports.
Stewart portrays an actress impersonating the designer as a young woman. Geraldine Chaplin, who has played Chanel in previous Lagerfeld films, is in the movie as well. Lagerfeld filmed the project last month in two days at director Luc Besson?s Paris studio.
Lagerfeld said Stewart ?played it really, really mean.? ?You only see her in tests and she?s complaining about everything,? he told WWD. ?She?s mean with the director; mean with the producer.? Lagerfeld also came up with the dialogue, costumes and casting. ?They make so many movies about Chanel, why can?t I make one?? he said. The Mtiers d?Arts show, where the Chanel movie debuts, will take place on Dec. 1 in Rome.
[From Variety]
It only took two days to film? Well, it?s not really a short film in the traditional sense, it?s more like a weird art project to help promote Chanel. It will be shown in Rome, but I hope Lagerfeld puts the film online so we can see this ?acting.?

| Kristen Stewart in a Zuhair Murad romper at LA 'Ultra' premiere: cute or basic' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kristen Stewart is such a big fan of the romper. I feel like this is the millionth time we?ve seen her in a romper, although that might just be my imagination. These are photos of K-Stew at last night?s LA premiere of American Ultra, the stoner action-comedy starring Kristen and Jesse Eisenberg. Kristen?s romper is by Zuhair Murad, which surprised me a little ? Kristen has a big Chanel contract and I would have expected her to wear something, anything by Chanel for her first big red carpet in months. Anyway, I think she looks cute. This isn?t my favorite look from her or anything, but it?s fine. If I had to change something, I would have changed her hair. The center part doesn?t work for her, it makes her look too ?flat.?
Kristen has been talking all week, but none of it has been especially noteworthy. She chatted about auditioning for Woody Allen and getting a part in his newest film (?It feels good to prove yourself, because it’s weird when people just hand you roles and you’re like, ‘You’ve never even met me, you may hate me!’?) and how she?s quietly pursuing music these days, mostly with a guitar. Then there was this interview Kristen and Jesse did with Uproxx. This is absolutely the most eye-rolly interview you will read all week and it?s mostly Jesse! Kristen complains about the media and it?s slightly annoying, but Jesse takes the bitching to some next-level BS. Some assorted quotes from K-Stew:
Kristen on journalists feigning passion for art: ?I love how people like to make statements as if they?re feigning true passion, when really they?re just using you opportunistically to get hits on their website. And I?m like, ?Oh, cool, so you pretend like you care about something where you don?t have a thought ? you don?t even have a f–king thought about any of it.? It?s literally just, ?She said one word? Enter it. F–king harpoon her.?
On people being shocked that she won the Cesar: ?Because Twilight is so huge. Do you know what I mean? Because Twilight infiltrated everyone?s [perception]. I think if you walked into a grocery store and asked somebody if they saw Clouds of Sils Maria or Twilight, they?d probably be like, ?Twilight, and she?s a terrible f–king actress.?.. I also feel that anything overtly popular in the United States feels entirely owned by the public, therefore if they don?t deem it worthy, then they?re like, ?We put you here. And if you do not bend over and give us absolutely everything we want, then we need to let you know.? They become vindictive.?
Whether she thinks Twilight should be rebooted: ?I was so genuinely, heavily entrenched in that, and not in a way that felt like an obligation. Even though after the first one, which stood alone, it lasted a long time. It?s hard to speak to a five-year period in a few sentences, but I loved doing it. But that doesn?t mean I want to keep doing it. But if other people? Yeah, sure. To be honest with you: I would be interested. I?d be kind of fascinated, but it wouldn?t emotionally affect me one way or the other.
[From Uproxx]
Some days, I really do wonder if Kristen lacks some critical self-awareness. This is not one of those days. I like that she just owns the fact that everyone thinks she?s a terrible actress because of Twilight. She?s not throwing anyone under the bus, it?s just an acknowledgement of how she?s perceived. As for the complaints about the press? girl, ?the press? didn?t bang a married guy in the back of their mom?s Mini Cooper. YOU DID THAT.
PS? Kristen?s Twilight buddy Taylor Lautner came out to support her!

Here are some photos of Kristen Stewart out in NYC on Sunday. She?s been in NYC for a few days to promote American Ultra which? I can?t help it, I think it looks like a fun movie and Jesse Eisenberg seems like he?s doing a good job in it. I know he?s a douche, though. Of course he is. Which is why a lot of people were waiting to see what would go down during the promotional tour for this film ? the combo of surly ?intellectual? Jesse with sullen hipster Kristen Stewart? well, it was supposed to be magical. But so far, so good. And by that I mean they haven?t made news for the wrong reasons. And look, Kristen even SMILED for some photos with fans. Amazing.
Kristen and Jesse did a Buzzfeed video about pot-smoking and such. Kristen defines ?stoner? as ?Even if you don?t proclaim yourself as a stoner and you smoke a lot of weed, you?re still a stoner.? Jesse agrees and seems to say that he?s not much of a pot-smoker (I sort of believe that) because ?I think if there was some kind of marijuana that allowed me to enjoy life, but still like remember where I put my keys, I would do that. Because that seems like best of both worlds.?
Kristen definitely seems like she?s more of a stoner than Jesse. In fact, she seems a little high in this video. I don?t think that will really surprise anyone? Kristen is a well-known pot smoker. I believe she probably takes a few bong hits before walking red carpets too, probably to help with her nerves.
And here?s their Today Show interview. I?ll admit it, I didn?t even watch this all the way through.

She?s been a busy babe as of late, and Kristen Stewart showed up in Manhattan?s trendy Tribeca neighborhood on Sunday afternoon (August 9).
The ?American Ultra? actress seemed preoccupied with her mobile phone as she hopped out of a luxury SUV while wearing a powder blue top and black bottoms.
Kristen is featured on the front of the September 2015 issue of ELLE UK, and she insists that people have judged her incorrectly when it comes to her attitude- ?The whole smiling thing is weird, because I actually smile a lot. I literally want to be like, ?Dude, you would think I was cool if you got to know me.??

Elle UK has released more photos from their September issue editorial with cover girl Kristen Stewart. While I liked the cover (we covered it yesterday), I?m not loving the rest of the shoot. The bright colors are nice, but why in the world would you style Kristen to look so dirty and greasy AGAIN? Like, that?s how she exists in the zeitgeist. She always looks dirty, her hair always looks unwashed and I just want to throw her in the shower and lock her in there for 30 minutes. Anyway, Elle UK has released some interview excerpts:
Whether she smiles: ?The whole smiling thing is weird because I actually smile a lot. I literally want to be like, ?Dude, you would think I was cool if you got to know me.??
She?s not anti-social media: ?I’m not anti-social media. I just haven’t decided to do it. The idea of addressing such a massive group? If I don’t know who I’m talking to it doesn’t make any f**king sense to me.?
Feminism, apologies: ?I apologize constantly, incessantly?. There’s something so natural about saying ?yes?, I think with women there’s a natural inclination to want to satisfy people.?
Her style: She prefers ?comfort and practicality? over anything else. ?I wear jeans and?I always say this and it?s so boring to do fashion interviews for magazines ? I don?t really have a fashion icon. I?ve never tried to emulate someone?s thing.?
Toughness: ?I like to make people think that I am.?
Dogs: ?I have three. They make me feel safe.?
[From The Daily Mail]
I tend to believe her about all of this. I don?t think she?s trying to emulate anyone?s style, nor is she trying to be a stand-alone fashion icon. If anything, I think her interest in fashion has decreased in her years in the spotlight. I also think she only smiles in private, but she?s publicly grumpy and sullen and that?s her ?thing.? If she came out as a super-smiley person at this point, we would be like, ?Damn, what?s she trying to prove?? And ?She?s such a try-hard nowadays!?
Kristen will also be traveling to Venice soon ? her film with Nicholas Hoult, Equals, will be premiering at the Venice Film Festival. Hopefully we?ll be getting premiere photos for American Ultra soon too.
Here?s Elle?s video for Kristen?s shoot. They called it ?How to be a Badass.?

Always a fan of creative pursuits, Kristen Stewart brought her acoustic guitar along for ride as she caught a flight at LAX International Airport on Sunday (July 19).
The 25-year-old ?Adventureland? actress was a bit camera-shy as she navigated her way through the terminal, en route to Paris, France.
Coming up on August 21st, Kristen will star alongside Jesse Eisenberg in the drug/spy flick ?American Ultra.? Per the synopsis, ?A stoner - who is in fact a government agent - is marked as a liability and targeted for extermination. But he's too well-trained and too high for them to handle.?

| Kristen Stewart covers Marie Claire: 'I lit my universe on fire & I watched it burn' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Kristen Stewart covers the August issue of Marie Claire. The editorial is? okay. I usually think Kristen can pull off nearly any kind of heavy, dark styling but I feel like we?ve seen this kind of look from her many times before in editorials. That?s not on Kristen ? it feels like Marie Claire sort of phoned it in. This is Kristen?s second major magazine cover interview this year ? months ago, we covered her Harper?s Bazaar UK cover here. This is her first American cover in months. Kristen is still pushing the ?I?m a completely different person now? narrative, having said goodbye to Twilight. Sparkly Vampires and Bella for good. Some highlights from the interview:
She?s been punished for not being? “I believe the operative words are, accessible, easy, and uncomplicated,” she says with an exaggerated roll of her eyes.
Her image change: “I lit my universe on fire and I watched it burn. Speaking very candidly, it was a really traumatic period in my early 20s that kick-started something in me that was a bit more?feral.”
On her appearance and cutting her hair: “My hair was such a crutch. I looked quote unquote ‘sexy’ no matter what. I could hide behind it. As soon as I didn’t have all that hair, I had to let my face hang out. I felt more confident than I had in a really long time. And it felt really good. Maybe to most people long hair is prettier. But then what? Is your main goal in life to be desired? That is boring as f-ck.”
On reaching peace with her public image: ?I?m really proud that I am able to move forward and not fall into every mental crater. That?s a new thing for me. Age has made me smarter and calmer. And it is f–king awesome.?
On her success at a young age: ?Between ages 15 and 20, it was really intense. I was constantly anxious. I was kind of a control freak. If I didn?t know how something was going to turn out, I would make myself ill, or just be locked up or inhibited in a way that was really debilitating.?
On apologizing: ?Lately, I?ve been doing less of the ?I?m sooooo sorry.? And more of the ?No. F–k. Jesus.?”
[From Marie Claire]
Eloquent she is not. But she?s right about some things, and yes, I?m sort of giving her a break. She was ?punished? for not being a cookie-cutter starlet, for not fitting into an easily accessible box, for not being ?girly? and frilly. That being said, she was also enormously self-destructive. Not like Ben Affleck type of self-destructive (Affleck is next-level self-destructive), but she was definitely looking to destroy whatever goodwill she had and rise like a phoenix from the ashes. The fact that she was able to do just that? well, we should give her some credit for that.
