I?m about to admit something I never thought I?d write: I kind of like Zooey Deschanel as an actress. I?ve been watching The New Girl, and? it?s not a bad show, AT ALL. It?s actually really cute, bordering on ?pretty awesome, actually.? After years spent as a supporting player in big-budget films and a sometimes-lead in independent films, Zooey has finally found herself helming what could be a solid television show with a long future. Now, even though my general warmth for Zooey as an actress has increased, she also pisses me off as a person. She always strikes me as a too-cutesy hipster chick trying too hard to be ?different? and ?wacky?. Maybe her personality is genuinely wacky and quirky. Or maybe she?s just a pretty normal girl who puts on airs to stand out.
All I know is that she?s 31 years old, and it wouldn?t hurt her to start dressing and acting her age in public. BUT - I do enjoy how The New Girl is built around Zooey?s quirks and weirdness, however feigned - the character Zooey plays seems fleshed-out and authentic, like you would actually run into that girl and be annoyed with her in real life. Anyway, Zooey took part in Us Weekly?s ?25 Things You Don?t Know About?? feature, and I can?t hate on her too hard:
1. I accidentally entered a beauty pageant.
2. I hate camping, but I love summer camp.
3. I took three years off from acting and toured with my band, She & Him.
4. I used to dress up like a princess to do my homework.
5. I have had brown hair and bangs since I was 2. One year I dyed it blonde, which felt so weird.
6. I drove my mom’s old Volvo until just a few years ago.
7. I had a party at the American Girl store — recently.
8. I love coffee. I mean, I really love coffee.
9. I am always early to work but sometimes late to other things.
10. I started a comedy website for females, with my friends Sophia and Molly, called HelloGiggles.
11. I know This is Spinal Tap by heart.
12. I am really competitive at board games.
13. I talk to my mom every day.
14. I love work more than vacations.
15. I love pictures of people’s dogs.
16. I am pretty crafty. I like to bake.
17. I hate papaya.
18. I use scrunchies. Don’t judge.
19. I love pajamas.
20. I am a true blue music nerd.
21. I love cereal.
22. Pastoralia by George Saunders is one of my favorite novels.
23. I have bows painted on my toenails.
24. I took six years of tap-dancing lessons.
25. My first acting job was as Little Red Riding Hood.

Sigh?well, that explains the bangs at least. She?s always had bangs? I?m trying to remember if I?ve ever seen her bangs-less? If she ever grew them out, I would imagine that she would look even more like her older sister, Emily Deschanel.
Oh, and I kind of loved ?I used to dress up like a princess to do my homework.? Who didn?t?

Bringing a little luck to the hometown team, Zooey Deschanel opened up Game 4 of the World Series by offering up a flawless rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Sunday night (October 23).
Clad in a patriotic red, white and blue minidress, the "New Girl" actress belted out the National Anthem ahead of the first pitch between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers - with the Rangers ending up winning the contest by a score of 4-0.
Tweeting about the memorable experience during her time at the Texas ballpark, Miss Deschanel wrote, "Having so much fun at the #worldseries game 4 in Dallas with @markjakejohnson @HannahSimone @LamorneMorris ! Woo hoo!!!!"
Meanwhile, Zooey is set to be followed up by scheduled Game 5 National Anthem singer Demi Lovato on Monday night (October 24), with the 19-year-old tweeting to her fans, "Only my lovatics could land me a spot singing the national anthem at the WORLD SERIES!!!! I couldn't do it without you guys!!!!"

Cranking out a brand new episode, Zooey Deschanel was spotted on the set of her hit show ?New Girl? yesterday (October 17).
The ?Failure to Launch? actress looked lovely as she strolled around the Los Angeles lot, sporting a navy blue sweater with a blue/green plaid skirt and knee-high boots.
Coming up later this season, Zooey will get a new costar in June Diane Raphael who plays a friend of Jess.
June?s character Sadie is a ?smart, slightly intimidating but helpful friend- she?s an OB/GYN doctor who?s also a lesbian.?

I wouldn’t normally consider Zooey Deschanel one of Hollywood’s hottest young talents, she’s kind of quirky in that annoying hipster way, but she’s got a new show and she might be on the verge of some sort of breakthrough so I thought I’d give her a chance. Joining in on the annual toast to television's finest, Zooey Deschanel glammed up the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this evening (September 18).
The ?(500) Days of Summer? looked dashing in a floor-length, Pink Monique Lhuillier gown as she took the Nokia Theatre stage alongside Will Arnett for presenter duties.
Prior to showtime, Miss Deschanel voiced her distaste for heels, as she told E! News, "I always want to wear flats, but I'm wearing heels. They wouldn't let me."
Hosted by Jane Lynch, the show looks to be as star studded as ever, as an A-list line up of Tinseltown heavyweights are scheduled to appear.
Among other celebs slated to take the stage to dole out the affair's coveted awards are Sofia Vergara, Ashton Kutcher, Amy Poehler and Jon Cryer.

She?s always up for a challenge, and Zooey Deschanel plays a stylistically-hindered woman in the new FOX series ?New Girl.?
And in the just-released sneak peek, the ?Failure to Launch? babe is as adorable as she is hilarious.
Zooey?s character Jess is a recently-single-again gal who is looking to spruce up her fashion to reel in her next boyfriend. The only problem is, she?s doing it in overalls.
Jess? friend Cece questions her attire, and she fires back, "I was going for like a hot farmer's daughter kind of thing. You know like, 'Oh, I'm going to go milk some cows...with my bucket!'"

Last night was the premiere of Our Idiot Brother, which? I don?t really want to see, although I do enjoy some Paul Rudd, and he does look kind of funny in it. The film paired Rudd with a group of talented ladies, and so the premiere was heavy on the fashion. Unfortunately for nearly all of the talented ladies, they all looked like hell. Let?s start with Zooey Deschanel, shall we? The Moschino dress was, like, circus-level bad. I think highly of the Deschanel sisters - I find both of them beautiful and interesting - but this dress is unflattering and just flat-out ugly. What?s with all of the bulges and dust ruffles on her neck and biscuits? Gross. I?m totally over Zooey?s hair too - she needs to ditch the hipster-girl bangs. She?s well into her 30s, it?s time for a more adult look. But the absolute worst part was how her makeup looked - like a Kardashian got a hold of her:
Ridiculous. Are those falsies on her bottom lids?!?
Next up? Rashida Jones. She?s another one that needs to stop with the bangs, in my opinion, but at least her makeup job is better than Zooey?s. The dress, however, is just as bad. How unflattering is this? Rashida has a cute figure, but you would never be able to tell. I hate her shoes too.
So, I?m kind of demoralized by the bad fashion, so here?s a photo with the other two girls in the cast, Elizabeth Banks and Kathryn Hahn. Why does everyone look so bad?!?

Adding her glamour to the red carpet, Zooey Deschanel was on hand for the 2011 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, CA on Sunday (August 7).
The ?(500) Days of Summer? actress dazzled as she made her way inside the Gibson Amphitheatre in preparation of her presenter duties alongside Shaun White at the annual fan voted awards ceremony.
Hosted by Kaley Cuoco, the 2011 Teen Choice Awards air live on FOX from 8-10PM ET while featuring performances by Selena Gomez and The Scene, Demi Lovato, will.i.am and OneRepublic.
Among the stars slated to take the stage to dole out surfboards to the night's lucky winners are Taylor Lautner, Cameron Diaz, the Kardashian sisters, Justin Bieber and Victoria Justice.

Stepping out for an afternoon on the red carpet, Zooey Deschanel was among the stars on-hand for the Los Angeles premiere of "Winnie The Pooh" in Burbank, CA on Sunday (July 10).
Joined by husband Ben Gibbard, the cute couple took to the Walt Disney Studios venue to catch the movie's debut ahead of its scheduled July 15th release date.
As for her appearance, Zooey happens to have helped compose the music for the family film, as she recently told Wonderwall, "I was asked to do the Sherman Brothers song [for the soundtrack]. And then [Disney] liked it, so then they asked me to write the end credits song, and I did that, and they asked me to do some harmonies on some of the songs in the interior of the movie. So it just rolled out organically."
31-year-old Zooey also spoke about how much she loves Winnie and friends, as she explained, ?I love Winnie the Pooh himself ?how could you not? But there were characters I appreciated [after] seeing [the movie] this summer. I always really liked Tigger. I have a lot of energy, and I can relate to bouncing off the walls. I felt connected to Tigger, but I always thought Eeyore was really funny.?

She?s a draw everywhere she goes, and Zooey Deschanel was spotted arriving the Critics? Choice Television Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Monday (June 20).
The ?Yes Man? babe looked lovely as usual as she stepped into the press area in a stylish ensemble and happily flashed that gorgeous grin for the cameras.
As a celebrity in the spotlight, Zooey stays active and keeps her figure in fit form, but she doesn?t workout to be skinny.
In the July issue of Self magazine, the brunette beauty explained, "That's so boring, and it seems like a depressing goal for a modern woman. I work out to be healthy and because I like it."
