Miranda Kerr covers the June issue of Marie Claire Australia in what I?m assuming is a completely new photoshoot. Whenever Miranda covers an Aussie publication, I always assume she took the time to pose for something new, out of patriotic pride or whatever. Can we discuss this image? Because there?s a lot to say and there are literally no excerpts I can find from the interview.
First off, did they just Photoshop her head onto someone else body? No, right? But the Photoshoppers did go WAY overboard with the work on her chest, bust and neck. And I don?t really understand why ? if you?re putting a (former!) Victoria?s Secret model in what amounts to a dress made out of striped hosiery, why play the modesty game with her cleavage? Why make it seem like we?re seeing her neck through a soft Golden Girls-filter? Eh. As for the hint of Kerr Crotch that we can see in the dress? I guess Goop isn?t the only one trimming her bush to wear certain dresses. Yikes.
There?s a surprising dearth of Miranda stories right now, and I don?t know why. Surely someone is following up on that suspicious story about Miranda and Gerard Butler? You know what? If Gerry and Miranda got it on? I would be into it. I mean, I feel bad for Orlando and everything, but Gerard and Miranda would definitely be interesting.
If you look at Miranda?s Instagram, you can see that she was posting some photos of Flynn for Mother?s Day, and then on Monday she was showing off some shots from an upcoming shoot with V Magazine. She posted the butt shot (below) with the message: ?Another shot from @vmagazine shot by @inezvinoodh Loved having a fringe for a day! ?Miranda xxx?.

I’m normally staunchly against bare midriff on the red carpet, but Miranda Kerr’s Michael Kors dress at the Met Costume Institute Gala just works. It was my favorite look of the evening. She perfectly tempered the edginess of the dress and clutch with old Hollywood makeup and hair and diamond jewelry. It’s like somebody crossed Aeon Flux with Rita Hayworth. It’s everything a Met Costume Institute Gala look should be!

Bringing an end to her Australian visit, Miranda Kerr exited the Park Hyatt Hotel in Sydney and headed for the airport this morning (April 19).
Donning a Pink blazer, white top and flared blue jeans, the supermodel mommy looked to be in good spirits as she carried her white leather Prada handbag past the waiting shutterbugs.
Yesterday (April 18) Miranda joined John Travolta and Kelly Preston at a massive promotional event for Australian airline Qantas Airways at the Sydney Domestic Airport.
Kerr also recently fired back at claims that she was dumped by Victoria?s Secret, noting, ?I?m just not in a position to commit to a full contract at this time.?

Here are some photos of Miranda Kerr at ?the unveiling of the new Qantas Uniform at the Hordern Pavillion in Sydney, Australia? earlier today (or yesterday, I never know with Australia). The uniform is pretty cute, right? I would wear that coat in a heartbeat. I don?t know how much Miranda got paid to be the official ?unveiler? of the uniform, but I would imagine she scored a pretty good payday.
There is a slight issue of Miranda?s branding, however. While she might have gotten a lucrative payday, does this kind of event make her look like one of the top models in the world? That?s a genuine concern these days, coming after last week?s news that Miranda is no longer one of the Victoria?s Secret Angels. The first reports indicated that Miranda was fired, although Miranda?s publicist made sure to tell everyone that Miranda chose to step down because of the time commitment VS needed. That?s the story Miranda is sticking to in a new interview:
She was said to have been let go from Victoria’s Secret for reportedly being ‘difficult’ and her expensive $1 million contract that didn’t sell enough underwear. But Miranda Kerr has denied any sort of ‘diva antics’ and has revealed the real reason behind her three year contract not being renewed.
The 29-year-old told the Sydney Morning Herald that she simply could not commit to a contract for that period of time due to her work and family commitments. The brunette beauty is married to actor Orlando Bloom, and the couple have a two-year-old son Flynn together.
‘I?m just not in a position to commit to a full contract at this time,’ she told the newspaper. ‘It?s three months at a bare minimum.’
She also said that she was surprised to hear reports claiming that she a ‘difficult reputation’.
Sources had told People.com: ‘She can be difficult at shoots and appearances. She’s not very timely. She’s standoffish with the rest of the girls.’
‘I’m sure anyone that has worked with me would agree that it’s not true,’ Miranda said in her interview with the Sydney Morning Herald.

Can I choose to believe that there are parts of all these stories that are probably correct? I believe that Miranda was probably over the Victoria?s Secret thing, and it was a huge time commitment and Miranda continues to build her brand and be one of the most sought-after models in the world. But! Being a VS Angel was part of the reason why she was so sought-after. It was part of her branding at a model. So I also kind of believe that Victoria?s Secret pushed her out and maybe didn?t offer her a new contract. I also kind of believe the stories of Miranda being somewhat ?difficult?. But I believe a lot of rumors about Miranda these days. Poor Orlando!

Yesterday, I discussed the Us Weekly story claiming that Miranda Kerr had been ?fired? (or not offered another contract) from Victoria?s Secret. One source claimed that Miranda has a ?difficult reputation? and another said she?s ?not a big seller for VS.? Some of you believed those explanations, some of you did not. I tried to give Miranda the benefit of the doubt because? well, I?m not sure why I tried to take her side. I just felt like that Us Weekly story ? while amazing, interesting gossip ? was sort of mean and one-sided.
As you?ve probably read on Bedhead?s Orlando Bloom post earlier today, Miranda has already begun to push back on the story. The president of Victoria?s Secret issued a statement calling Us Weekly?s story crap, basically. And today?s Page Six has some (suspicious) pro-Kerr quotes:
Supermodel Miranda Kerr was not fired as a Victoria?s Secret Angel for ?being difficult? but is stepping down because she could not devote enough time to the demanding brand, sources exclusively tell Page Six.
Talks between the lingerie line and the Australian beauty fell apart last week because VS was asking busy model Kerr to devote three months a year to promoting their sexy brand.
But a source with knowledge of the situation told us: ?The problem was the time commitment. Victoria?s Secret usually asks the girls who are Angels to commit three months in a particular year to the brand.
?But Miranda has become a big star ? she recently signed a deal with airline Qantas and has just replaced Kate Moss as the face of Spanish fashion line Mango,? our source continued.
?While she loves Victoria?s Secret, the time commitment they needed from her as an Angel became too much for her to fulfill. Exactly the same thing happened with Gisele Bundchen and Heidi Klum ? their careers became huge, and there were other opportunities which made being an Angel full-time impossible.
?Anyone who says otherwise about Miranda, it?s just sour grapes. She is still going to walk in the show this year, and is still committed to the brand, but their relationship is evolving.?
Other sources tell us Kerr, who has a 2-year-old son, Flynn, with husband Orlando Bloom, also needs the freedom to travel to be with Bloom when he?s filming on location. Her rep declined to comment.
While media insiders whisper that a story of Kerr ?being difficult? was planted by those with an ax to grind, Victoria?s Secret?s chief marketing officer Ed Razek leapt to her defense.
He said in a statement, ?Miranda Kerr is one of the best models in the history of the business ? and easily one of the most popular. She is also a consummate professional. Any rumors to the contrary are simply untrue. We have no plans to stop working with her.? Razek added that Kerr will still walk the runway in the 2013 show.

Do I believe that Miranda is so razzle-dazzle amazeballs and she?s the most in-demand model in the world and THAT is why she?s not going to do much Angel stuff anymore? Eh. I think the truth is probably a happy-medium between yesterday?s Us Weekly story and this Page Six piece. I think VS probably was looking to push Miranda out, and they didn?t offer her a new contract. And maybe Miranda was fine with it because she does have other time commitments and career options. I think it?s funny that Miranda?s career is now being compared to Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen? um, really?
