Yay, a reason to write about The Rock! I can never pass up such an opportunity. He’s giving his serious face in this photo because he’s signed on for a serious role, sort of. The “serious” remark stems from DC’s rumored resolution to allow no humor in their comic book movies. (“Why so serious?” asked the Joker.) DC may have changed its mind. According to Slashfilm, DC’s new Shazam movie will be different and separate from all the Justice League stuff. Shazam will be fun, starting with the casting news of its baddie.
Dwayne Johnson has signed on to play Black Adam, a complex anti-hero and sometimes supervillain. The rumors have been buzzing for months. DC terribly wanted The Rock. They wanted him so bad that they let him choose whether to play the hero or the villain. Johnson announced his final decision on his Twitter page:
"Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot." My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics pic.twitter.com/Qk55eNf3R7

| The Rock plays patty cake as Hercules & reveals cheat meals: adorable? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Hercules comes out in theaters today, so this is a great moment to run a Dwayne Johnson catchall post. Starting with The Rock killing it on Twitter with photos like this one. The Rock was hanging on set, dressed as Hercules, when a lovely 2-year-old asked him to play patty cake. He complied. Look at his legs! They’re massive. Even when The Rock looks ultra roidy, I’d still hit it so hard. He’s devastatingly handsome and has a great reputation for being so sweet to fans. This is a guy who never forgets where he came from. This film’s trailer looks dreadful, yet I want the movie to do well. I will always root for The Rock.
My man did a Reddit AMA a few days ago. There weren’t any standout quotes, but he does drop a few details:
Making this movie: “Hercules was by far my most demanding role. I knew that going it though – so I was prepared to go the distance and commit. 6 months of hard core training, prep and diet. Chariot, sword and combat training as well. What I didn?t count on was the injury that occurred 6 weeks before shooting (tore two tendons from my pelvis) which then ultimately led to my abdomen wall weakening which cause 3 hernia tears. So wrap all that up into a big ass ball of fun pain and you have the most challenging role Ive ever had. Also when I arrived on set in Budapest in a physical peak I was happy with for the character, I had to maintain that look for the next 5 months. Very taxing on the body – physically, mentally and every which way in between. Funny thing is, if I had to do it all over again.. I?d do it twice. Only I?d add a freaking cheat meal once a week or so. Geeeezus”
His favorite cheat meal: “Pizza (double dough), pancakes and peanut butter brownies. And for good measure I throw in a diet coke!”
What he’s thankful for: “My family is everything to me. It sounds cliche but its true. More and more as I go thru life my cup runneth over with gratitude for the loved ones in my life. For the record, Ive always wanted to write ‘my cup runneth over,’ so Fa’afetai Tele Lava!”
On Paul Walker: “Finishing Fast and Furious without Paul was very bittersweet. His death was heartbreaking and in a way, informed us that we should be even more grateful for every waking minute and hug our loved ones and friends just that much tighter and stronger. I truly feel audiences will be very happy and emotionally moved by Fast 7. Im proud of the movie we made – proud of my fellow actors, director, studio partners and hard working blue collar film crew. The truth is, like all movies – Fast and Furious will come and go and hopefully, leave an incredible movie legacy behind. To me, the #1 most important thing I care about is making sure his daughter has stability in her life and good solid men around her to help raise her in the wake of Paul?s passing. (MYB)
[From Reddit]
I remember reading about The Rock’s adductor injury last year and cringing. I once ripped an adductor but it was only a 2nd degree tear. It was so freaking painful, and I can’t imagine what it was like to completely rupture the connected tendons. He went back to training almost immediately. The Rock is hardcore. It’s impossible to dislike this guy. He was even adorable during his Tonight Show visit. He and Jimmy Fallon wore bad wigs and formed the “Fungo Brothers” workout duo:
Dwayne has also been fielding rumors that he’ll soon play a superhero. He teased EW with hints that point towards him playing Captain Marvel in a movie. There’s going to be a big announcement soon, supposedly.
I’m including some more excellent photos from The Rock’s Twitter (including his glorious fanny pack selfie). The crowd goes wild for him. Will they show up for a movie where The Rock wears a lion’s head on his noggin and makes Hydra soup? There’s also some photos from the LA premiere this week. Rufus Sewell is in this movie? Hmm.

| Dwayne Johnson on his multiple bouts with depression: 'I was all cried out' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

My boyfriend, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, covers this week’s issue of Hollywood Reporter. He is — for better or worse — the king of trash cinema and the go-to hunk for flagging franchises. The magazine describes him as having “the wit of Willis, the strength of Schwarzenegger, the heart of Stallone.” Yep. The Rock is the action hero of our generation. He’s got it all, and his charisma and star power will carry him to the ends of the earth. As long as, you know, the upcoming Hercules movie doesn’t kickstart the apocalypse. That movie looks awful, but it will at least be better than the Kellan Lutz version.
This interview is kind of depressing but ultimately uplifting. The Rock talks about his low periods in life, beginning with a childhood full of money problems and other assorted turmoil. Plus three episodes of major depression in his adult life. Can you imagine The Rock crying? He shed a single tear in The Game Plan, but the thought of him curled up in fetal position makes my heart break. Here are some excerpts:
His difficult childhood: “I remember it as if it were yesterday. We were living in an efficiency that cost $120 a week. We come home, and there’s a padlock on the door and an eviction notice. My mom starts bawling. She just started crying and breaking down. ‘Where are we going to live? What are we going to do?’ That was the tipping point. It was about, ‘What can I control with these two hands?’ The only thing I could do was train and build my body. The successful men I knew were men who built their bodies.”
His 1st of 3 depressions over a football injury: “I didn’t know what it was. I didn’t know why I didn’t want to do anything. I had never experienced anything like that. I didn’t want to do a thing. I didn’t want to go anywhere. I was crying constantly. Eventually you reach a point where you are all cried out.”
His second depression: “You hear the words you never want to hear as a player: ‘Coach wants to see you. Bring your playbook.’ There was no injury. It’s just, ‘That’s it. You’re not good enough.’ That was very sobering. The dreams I had, they’re dashed. There is no more football. My relationship was crushed. That was my absolute worst time. I looked in my pocket, and I had seven bucks. Wow. Seven bucks to my name.”
Life as a pro wrestler: “There are two terms in wrestling. Baby face is your hero, heel is your villain. I had no choice but to go heel. I loved it. I loved the showmanship, and I loved the theatricality. It was so entertaining and over-the-top, and I was always mesmerized by these guys.”
Leaving wrestling for movies: “I was told that I had to conform to a standard in Hollywood that would beget me more work, better roles. Which meant I had to stop going to the gym, which meant I couldn?t be as big, which meant you had to distance yourself from wrestling. You essentially had to deconstruct yourself.”
He fired his agents after Tooth Fairy: “It just dawned on me: Change has to happen. It reached a point of, ‘I’m not feeling authentic.’ I felt there were bigger and better opportunities. I also felt there was franchise potential, hopefully multiple franchises in every genre — whether drama or comedy or action-comedy.”
His 3rd depression after divorce: “Once I manned up and became accountable for the mess I was in, that’s when it all hit me. What kind of dad does this make me? What kind of man will I now become? Failing at marriage and as a husband was a heavy thing, and divorce had that special way of knocking me on my ass.”
On Paul Walker’s death: “I was driving with Lauren when she immediately turned very quiet and was looking at me, studying, wondering if I knew. I pulled over and looked at my messages and had a moment where I just caught my breath. We said a prayer right then to give his daughter strength — because we had talked about our daughters. That’s what we would talk about. Both of us were divorced, and we talked about the power of being a dad and the strong connection of a dad and his girl. Then once we got home, we started bawling.”
His favorite tattoo: “The warrior is over my heart, which is the overall sentiment.”
He wants to be a global movie star: “What do I want? I want the world. I grew up where, when a door closed, a window didn’t open. The only thing I had was cracks. I’d do everything to get through those cracks — scratch, claw, bite, push, bleed. Now the opportunity is here. The door is wide open and it’s as big as a garage.”
[From Hollywood Reporter]
The Rock just spoke to The Mail last night on the red carpet in Sydney. When asked if his depression could return, he said, “[I] hope not, but life is unpredictable. I like to use the hard times in the past to motivate me today.” He also admitted to taking a shot or two of tequila every night before bed. With that physique!
It sounds like The Rock got over his divorce depression. He’s been divorced for several years and has been dating singer Lauren Hashlan for about two years. Of Lauren, he told People, “I’m a lucky son of a bitch.” She’s the lucky one! The Rock knows how to take care of a woman.
If work ethic is anything, then The Rock will continue to succeed in movies. He’s also terribly devoted to fitness. The HR story says he gets up at 4 a.m. every day to do 30 minutes of cardio before breakfast. Then he moves onto weights for god knows how long. Hours probably. He eats a total of six meals per day, and I believe it. Here are some gorgeous pictures from the HR shoot. The Rock gets moody and happy for your viewing pleasure.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is promoting his Hercules movie, which comes out this summer. The movie looks completely cheesy, but that’s become The Rock’s signature acting style. I’m curious about whether he can carry an action movie on his own since he’s relied so heavily upon ensemble movies lately. This movie will do okay, right? Much better than that Kellan Lutz version of Hercules.
In a new interview with Collider, The Rock talks about his damn yak beard again. That thing took 2.5 hours to attach daily, and I just don’t understand why. I mean … look at it. That beard is the only thing stopping me from giving up all my material possessions and following The Rock around the world. That beard kills my libido. It looks unnatural. Gross, even. If this movie fails, it will be the fault of the yak beard.
The whole Collider interview is epically long, so I cut it down a lot. Mostly I wanted to talk about this story because The Rock reveals a heart-rending story about growing up poor. This is a sweet story about how he wanted to save his mom in a roundabout way by building up his muscles:
The Rock does Hercules’ dialogue: “A few one-liners, sure. I think that always makes it fun, trying to create a heroic character and putting your own twist on it and injecting your own personality into it. You know, the group of actors we had around, everybody came with their A game, all ready to make something that was really, really special. All the actors came on-board knowing that there was another Hercules already being made, knowing that there were other versions of Hercules in the past, in movies and on TV. So everyone got together and wanted to pay homage to the mythology and bring their unique twist.”
The damn yak beard: “The beard that I had was the full beard, and a lot of times in Hollywood, as you guys know, it?s a lace beard that we put on, and they take 30, 45 minutes, an hour tops. This took two and half hours — three hours, because we had very long strips of yak hair — really, yak hair — and they would cut them up probably and inch long and a quarter inch wide, and the process was, they would lay these on my face piece by piece by piece by piece. It was a very, very long process. But in that, what you get is something that is really spectacular. The first couple of days of camera testing and seeing it and recognizing, ?Hey, we?ve got something really special. Let?s do our best to make sure that nothing is revealed.?
His fight training: “I can fake it pretty good. In the loin cloth, it?s an interesting jump. Well, in terms of the fighting style, I thought it was a very raw fighting style. That had a lot to do with club combat, because Hercules has his famous club. So that was a fun fighting style, because it didn?t involve any guns or a specialized fighting style other than he is just a vicious, raw man who is pretty good at what he does. Really, that?s it. But the training — not necessarily the fighting training, but the training in terms of gym training and things like that, that was a lot different than I had ever done. I trained harder for this role than I ever had before. You get one shot at Hercules, so it was about eight months of training, of prep, of fun mythology study, dialect coach, things like that. It was a very long process.”
How he decided to bulk up: “It started for me when I was 14. When I was a kid, we were in Hawaii — and I might have shared this story before with you guys, but it wound up being one of those definitive stories in my life. When I was a kid at 14, and we were in Hawaii, we were evicted out of our little efficiency. We came home and it had a padlock on the door. I saw my mom crying — it was me and my mom — and she was tapped out. There was nothing we could do, padlock on the door. I just remember at that time thinking I never wanted this to happen again, so I wanted to become a success somehow so we?d never get locked out again and never get evicted. So in my mind at that time, at 14, the men who were successful were Stallone and Schwarzenegger and guys like that — Harrison Ford — who were these men of action. I was like, ‘Okay, they’re successful, they’re not getting evicted, they built their bodies — I?m gonna go build my body.’ It was like that.”
Has he watched Kellan Lutz’s Hercules? “Make me! [Laughs] No, I actually didn?t see it, no. Did you guys see it? You had to see it.”
[From Collider]
Hmm, the loincloth sounds promising. Did Kellan Lutz wear a loincloth as Hercules? Never mind, I really don’t need to know the answer to that question. Did The Rock just dis Kellan Lutz? Not really. Laughing is an involuntary reaction to the thought of Kellan Lutz as Hercules. As natural as sneezing. Was that a rude answer from Dwayne Johnson? I don’t know. I think it’s more of a rude question from the journo. They knew what answer they were looking for, and they got it. Besides, The Rock is used to dissing his opponents in the ring during his WWE adventures. The Rock would definitely give the people’s eyebrow to Kellan Lutz.

| The Rock Wants to Be as Massive as Hercules | Added 11 years ago | Source: The Blemish |

Dwayne Johnson is gearing up for a role inHercules and to play the role, he needs to be as big as Hercules. “Like Kevin Sorbo big?,” you ask. No, you fool. Bigger. BIGGER!
Despite being already massive, The Rock is consuming 5,000 calories daily by stuffing 7 meals in his pie holethroughout the day. He posted his meal plan which seems insane.
Meal 1 – 10 oz filet w/ 4 egg whites. 50 oz oatmeal or Cream of Wheat (measured dry).
Meal 2 – 8 oz chicken. 2 cups white rice. 1 cup broccoli.
Meal 3 – 8 oz halibut. 2 cups white rice. 1 cup asparagus.
Meal 4 – 8 oz chicken. 12 oz baked potato. 1 cup broccoli.
Meal 5 – 8 oz halibut. 1.5 cups white rice. 1 cup asparagus.
Meal 6 – 8 oz filet. 9 oz baked potato w/ salad.
Meal 7 – 30 grams casein protein. 10 egg whites scrambled w/ onions, peppers and mushrooms.
I think my body would explode if I ate all that. And the pee. My god, the pee. It must smell terrible with all that asparagus. He also posted his workout schedule.
5am: Cardio
7am: Iron
10am – 10pm: FilmHercules
11pm: Tequila with my lady
12am: Gorilla lovin’
He’s probably built like a gorilla by now and has to be careful to not break his girlfriend when they have sex. I’m betting he’s pounded her so hard that he’s literally put her through the headboard at one point. Wanna know where The Rock and his girlfriend have sex? Look for the feminine shaped holes in the wall.

| Dwayne Johnson covers Essence, counts the ways he?ll 'take care of a woman' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Hot damn. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson covers the August issue of Essence Magazine, which just happens to be the “Sexy Black 40? issue, which picks the top 40 sexiest black celebrities “of all time.” The list not only includes Dwayne but also Common, LL Cool J, Tysen Beckford, and Boris Kodjo. That little preview makes me pretty interested to see the rest of this list when it arrives!
I’ve always had a soft spot for Dwayne, who will always be “The Rock” to me even though I’m not really a wrestling fan at all. Mind you, he looks knuckle-bitingly good in his little black skivvies in the ring. And I’ll forgive him almost every time he adds to his list of roles in cheesy action franchises and silly, tutu-involving kids movies. So when he talks to Essence about how he takes care of a woman and wants to make out for hours at a time, I listen:
How he will drop your panties: “When I say I’m going to take care of a woman, I don’t just mean physically or sexually or romantically. I’m going to take care of her emotionally and spiritually. I’m going to take care of her in all ways. I take a lot of pride in that today.”
What are his turn ons? “Engaging in good conversation” and “embracing the power of kissing.”
On his ideal woman: “I want someone who can trust that my big hands are going to take care of them.”
On what he brings to a relationship: “I want to be a man who is truthful and who won’t let pride get in the way of my ripping myself open to my partner and saying, ‘Here I am. This is me.’ I feel there’s something powerful when a man reaches a point in his life when he can be completely vulnerable.”
On his ex, Dany Garcia Johnson: “Since our divorce, we’ve become pretty good at working together, and we are also raising our beautiful 11-year-old daughter, Simone. You know, you don’t sign up for a divorce when you get married. It’s very painful. But it’s taught me a great deal about myself.”
[From Essence]
I would totally let The Rock take care of me in every way that he so desires. Not only is he in outstanding physical shape, but he’s got loads of charisma and has a reputation of being a really nice guy. Is it offensive that he wants a woman that desires his “big hands” to take care of them? I don’t think that’s a non-feminist stance at all. I think he’s really talking about emotional security and “in the bedroom” stuff. You know what they say about guys with big hands, right? Plus, dude even causes spontaneous ovulation by holding an umbrella.

| Hugh Jackman covers Men's Fitness: 'it's easier for me to be polite than an a-hole' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Hugh Jackman covers Men’s Fitness in a t-shirt, which is somewhat disappointing to me. However I know that Hugh Jackman shirtless photos occasionally come out, and that we’ll have lots of opportunities to admire his manly chest when Wolverine comes out at the end of next month. Maybe, if we’re lucky, he’ll do some frolicking beach candids as part of the lead-up. Here’s hoping! Also, Hugh fills out a t-shirt much better than meathead Joe Manganiello, who can’t act his way out of a paper bag. I was just reminded of that in the season premiere of True Blood. Someone needs to put those stupid methhead wolves out of their misery.
Getting back to Hugh, he’s gorgeous, he’s thoughtful, he’s polite, and he’s an all-around decent guy. He knows this too, and he explains it in a very matter-of-fact way, saying that it’s easier to be nice to someone than to tell them off. I’m going to try and keep this in mind in my day-to-day life, not that I have an anger issue but I will tell someone off for being rude. (Cutting in line is a pet issue of mine.)
On Dwayne Johnson?s fitness advice: ?He told me that if in a six-month period you want to put on 25 pounds of lean muscle and not fat, eat natural and eat 6,000 calories a day. There were times when I would literally eat with the mind set of working out. ?One more mouthful, one more, come on, come on, you?ve got to finish this meal!??
On being referred to as the Nicest Guy in Hollywood: ?As an actor, I?ve always believed that any label is your enemy. Look, I was brought up in a way where you treat people with respect. So it?s certainly easier for me to be polite and respectful to people than to be an asshole. Like, if I?m walking down the street with my family and the 29th person says, ?Hey man, can I get a photo?? for me to say, ?No photos, get f?ked?? for the next hour I?ll be thinking I shouldn?t have said that. Whereas, if I say either, ?Yeah, no problem,? or, ?Listen, I?m with my family now, but it?s nice to meet you,? then I move on, in a way it?s easier. It?s a mixture of that and also not being a wanker.?
On trying to be himself: ?I try to be myself as much as I can when I?m not acting, for better or worse, but I?ve had publicists who?ve told me it?s a bad idea: ?You move your hands too much, you did this too many times, you should do this, you shouldn?t talk about that.??
[From Men's Fitness via Just Jared]
I love him so much! I want to have Hugh’s babies and make whichever constant recipes he needs for his latest fad diets. I know he’s happily married and it’s not to be, but that just ads to the attraction for me. He is good, committed husband and father, and while Hugh is widely admired he just doesn’t get enough love. You know why that is? Because he’s not controversial. As he said, he’s just who he is and he doesn’t try to be anyone else. He’s a genuine person and that comes through in everything he does. Also, he better win an Oscar in the next handful of years.
