I feel like we?ve already heard random rumors for years about quiet engagements and secret weddings with regards to Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. They?ve been dealing with each other for a full decade, minus some breakups here and there. They?ve seemed pretty solid for the past few years though, so it would not surprise me if this story is true: reportedly, Miley and Liam got married over the weekend?
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth appear to have tied the knot on Sunday night. Photos and video posted to the Instagram story of the couple?s surfer friend Conrad Jack Carr show Hemsworth, 28, and his brothers Chris and Luke doing a ?shotski,? with Mr. and Mrs. balloons in the background. Another photo shows Cyrus, 26, and Hemsworth ? dressed in traditional white and a tux ? in front of cake and cupcakes, with the singer?s mom Tish in the frame.
Reps for both stars did not immediately reply to PEOPLE?s request for comment, but it appeared Miley?s sisters Noah and Brandi were also in attendance at the party, held at the couple?s home in Franklin, Tennessee. On their Instagram Stories, the girls posed together with Carr ? the Mrs. balloons floating in the background. Noah, 18, was super casual in a black turtleneck and knit cap, with Brandi, 31, wearing a shiny off-white top. Noah also posted a tearful photo with a broken heart emoji, suggesting their celebration was an emotional one.

You can see the social media posts at People it did look like a low-key wedding, but I don?t understand why Miley and Liam haven?t confirmed it, through their reps or through a tweet or something, anything. It?s weird. Maybe it wasn?t a full-on wedding? Maybe it was something like a commitment ceremony? I don?t know. Congrats to them if it really happened.

Miley Cyrus is the musical guest along with Mark Ronson on this week?s Saturday Night Live. They have a new song out, Nothing Breaks Like a Heart. It doesn?t really do anything for me but it?s good to see her recording again. Miley swung by Howard Stern?s radio show to talk up what?s going on with her, and Howard asked about Miley and her longtime romantic whatever, Liam Hemsworth. Howard pressed Miley for clarification on Liam?s role in Miley?s life and she said she calls him her ?survival partner.?
[Miley Cyrus] was a guest on Howard Stern?s radio show on Wednesday, December 12, when he asked her to clarify her relationship status with the Isn?t It Romantic actor, 28.
?This is your boyfriend. Fianc?? the 64-year-old radio host asked.
?Yeah ? kind of-ish,? Cyrus explained. ?My partner ? I call him my survival partner now. And he thinks it?s not romantic, but I learned that is why you pair up with someone, for survival.?
The couple recently went through a trying time when their Malibu home was destroyed in November as a result of California?s Woolsey wildfires. While the event was traumatic, the ?Wrecking Ball? singer said she ?never loved [Hemsworth] more? than when she saw him spring into action to save their animals.
?He got all the animals out in his truck. He put two pigs in crates. And I said, ?How did you get them out?? And he said the only thing he could do was get a really powerful hose and sprayed then in the ass,? she recalled. ?So he just chased the pigs into crate, which was genius.?

I am not terribly romantic so I like the title of Survival Partner, especially in an us against the world sort of way. My guess is Miley came up with this designation after their house burned down, in which case, it?s apt. The emotional and physical toll of something like that usually either brings you closer or tears you apart. I completely understand what she?s saying about her feelings watching Liam save the animals. I?ve had similar feelings watching The Mister hold a sick pup throughout the night. Hell, I think I fell a little in love with the Lesser Hemsworth myself when Miley told that story. I don?t think Liam and Miley will get married. Not only did they say as much a year ago, but it seems that removing the pressure of marriage has been really good for their relationship. They seem much more relaxed.
If anyone is watching SNL?s Holiday episode this Saturday, Miley confirmed to Howard that Sean Lennon will join her and Mark for their performance of Happy Xmas (War is Over). That is one of my least liked Christmas songs but watching Sean sing it may make me weepy so I?ll likely check it out. Wonder if Liam will do a cameo in whichever skit Miley will do.

I kept going back and forth on Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. I couldn?t decide if they pissed me off or if I sort of liked them. I sort of liked them because I think he?s a good influence on her and I think she?s happier when she can identify herself as Liam?s low-key girlfriend. On the other hand, I disliked the narrative that Miley ?went crazy? without Liam and he?s the only one who can ?contain? her. In any case, I think we should all buckle up, because Crazy Twerking Miley is probably coming back shortly. Miley has deleted all of her Instagram posts, which is surely a sign that something is up. And then this news broke in the Aussie press:
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have reportedly called off their wedding. A source told OK! Australia on Thursday that the Hollywood power couple could not agree on when they should have children. The insider claimed Hunger Games star Liam, 28, was eager to settle down and become a dad but Miley, 25, isnt yet ready.
He wants kids and doesnt want to keep putting it off but its not quite the timeline Miley had in mind he is left heartbroken, the source said. Miley put off plans for the wedding and Liam was growing tired of it They havent been getting along in recent months.
The insider added: [She] didnt really want to get married. Its something that everyone else seemed to get but Liam. [His] family had been begging him to see the light for a long time, but he had faith in Miley. Now he feels like an idiot.

I feel like? Liam and his people are the ones driving this narrative and it will be interesting to see what Miley ends up saying. She?s 25 years old and she?s been with Liam, off and on, for something like eight years. Liam is the only real ?grown-up? relationship she?s ever had. Of course she has doubts and it?s completely normal to not be ready for marriage and motherhood at the age of 25.
I like the Hemsworth bros, but I feel like they have very concrete ideas about the kind of women they need to be with: they all want to be with women who are simply happy as wives and mothers, women who don?t have much of a career. Which is fine, and the world would be a much better place if men came out and said that they feel that way ahead of time. But it feels like Miley?s cold-feet are linked to the fact that she?s not ready to give up her career and settle in to just letting Liam be ?the star.? She knows what he wants: he wants her to give up everything she?s got going on in her career to have his babies and be his plus-one. And I don?t blame her for not being ready for that.
