These are photos of Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato looking overenthused on the 2009 red carpet of the Hannah Montana movie. Their smiles look completely fake. Demi looks hyped up on something. To be fair, this was probably the age when she was experimenting with drugs. Demi always overcompensated with a super-chipper mood during the height of her personal troubles.
Demi is promoting her new skincare line, Devonne by Demi, which is such a weird name. Demi still has a very young audience, so perhaps her image will help the company score some sales. Demi promoted her line on the TJ & Loren Amp 103.3 show. The subject of Miley came up, and Demi told it like it is:
TJ and Loren spoke to Demi Lovato about her new skincare line, Devonne by Demi. She also answered some listener questions, including where her friendship with Miley Cyrus stands.
When asked by a listener if they?re still friends, she said: “Um … yeah … that, um? we’re, we’re like, we’re acquaintances … it’s life, and people change, and, you know, I don’t have anything in common with her anymore, and I wish her all the best.”

You can listen to the whole episode here. None of it is very interesting except the part about Demi and Miley’s breakup. I do question how tight these two were back in the day. Miley used to mock Demi and Selena Gomez on YouTube. Maybe they simply faked their friendship for press events, or they were “frenemies.”
I definitely understand growing apart from teenage BFFs. Facebook never fails to inform me how little I have in common with the people I went to high school with. Everyone goes in different directions after graduation, and Disney was “high school” for Demi and Miley. Nowadays, Miley is ripping her clothes of in public, dropping Molly and smoking pot. Whereas Demi has been working on her sobriety for years. They have nothing in common. Was their whole friendship a lie? Demi isn’t really dissing Miley here, and Miley’s too busy photoshopping herself in NSFW ways and smoking joints on Instagram to notice.

I never talked about Miley’s weird NYFW debut for her clothing line with Jeremy Scott. It wasn’t worth discussing. This is Miley’s pot-infused, faux-psychedelic idea of “fashion.” What’s sad is that someone will buy this clothing.
Miley’s in trouble off the runway. She’s a source of annoyance for her stunt-queen antics, but she’s kept herself on the right side of the law. Until now. Miley performed earlier this week in Monterey, Neuvo Leon. She did her usual twerkadelic routine with her tush hanging out everywhere. Then she strapped on a Nicki Minaj-esque booty, and her backup dancers spanked her with a Mexican flag. There’s a NSFW video (the smacking happens at 2:20ish) of this weirdness.
In another country, people may have rolled their eyes and written this stunt off as Miley begging for attention. Mexico doesn’t mess around with flag desecration. HuffPo reports that Nuevo Leon has issued a warrant on Miley. She could potentially go to jail for 36 hours. You know that won’t happen. She’ll probably have to pay a $1,200 desecration fine. TMZ points out that Paulina Rubio paid a $4,000 fine after wearing (only) the flag for a photo shoot.
Miley’s latest antics were in poor taste, of course. The show happened on Mexican Independence Day! If she knew about the holiday, she didn’t care. Miley only wanted to “shock” everyone with her rebellion. This routine is growing old.
