During all three of Jessica Simpson?s pregnancies, it felt like she was gestating for a full year. Part of why it felt so long this time was because Jessica has been putting a lot of stuff out there on social media, including the time she broke a toilet seat, or the time she posted a photo of her hugely swollen feet, or the time she had to be hospitalized for bronchitis while preg (that happened less than a month ago). She also shared happier moments from her pregnancy on social media, like her baby shower, where she revealed that she and husband Eric had already picked out a name for this third child. And they didn?t change their minds! Jessica has finally given birth to a baby girl named Birdie:
She?s here! Jessica Simpson and husband Eric Johnson welcomed their third child together, daughter Birdie Mae Johnson, on Tuesday, March 19, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
Baby Birdie weighed 10 lbs., 13 oz.
Simpson and the former NFL player also share son Ace Knute, 5, and daughter Maxwell ?Maxi? Drew, 6.

Out of all of Jessica?s baby names, I think I like Birdie the best. Birdie Mae feels like a Southern nickname for some 1950s housewife whose real name was Barbara Maybelline or something. Jessica always said that Maxwell was a family name, and I?d be willing to bet that Birdie is too, whether it was someone?s real name or a family nickname. Anyway, I?m glad that pregnancy ordeal is over for Jessica and I?m glad she waited a while between Ace and Birdie. Do you think Birdie is the last? I bet she is.
Also Birdie is a BIG baby. Birdie and Prince Lou will meet some day at an all-you-can-eat restaurant and they?ll shut it down.

Jessica Simpson and her husband Eric Johnston have been in New York this week. Sidenote: I honestly had to stop for a moment and try to remember Eric?s name, and I was going to just call him Blargh McBlandFace but then his real name came to me. Every couple of months, Jessica seems to pop up in New York, and I would imagine that it has something to do with her fashion line, but what do I know. What happens is that we get daily pap strolls and ?date night? photos with some regularity. These are just some photos from this week?s pap strolls and date nights.
Can I just say? I hate all of these outfits except for the jeans-ensemble one. I would wear that entire jean-ensemble except for the jacket. I would leave the jacket at home and keep everything else. I actually love those jeans, which I know makes me sound so dated and unfashionable, but I?m still here for gdamn bootcuts and straight-legs. The skinny-jeans and the tapered jeans need to STAHP. The leopard print dress is? too low-cut, or maybe Jessica?s girls just can?t be contained. The yarn-like extensions need to go too.
Some say Jessica is a mess. I say Jess is living her best life. She?s got a ?kept husband? who adores her and is a hands-on dad to their kids. They go on date nights all the time. Jess eats whatever she wants and drinks however much she wants. Maybe I?m actually sort of jelly of Jessica Simpson, who would have thought.

This is just a quick thing, but how drunk was Jessica Simpson last night? You be the judge. Jessica and her husband Eric ?Big? Johnson went to Craig?s in West Hollywood, and these are photos of their exit from the restaurant. Or should I say, falling out of the restaurant. Jessica had that glassy-eyed boozy look that I recognize from my own boozy days (ah, memories). She lost her balance in the few yards it took to get from the door of Craig?s to the door of her car. She also made a perfect drunkface as she got into the car, sticking out her tongue at the paps.
Jessica has always enjoyed her booze, and before she had her babies, she was well-known for liking to down several cocktails with her dinner. She talked about it a lot, how much she liked a Scotch on the rocks, or whatever else was around. I don?t think she?s much of a beer drinker, but she probably drinks wine. And heavy liquor. You know what?s remarkable? Jessica has never gotten a DUI. She gets sh-tfaced on the reg, but maybe she?s self-aware enough to know that she should never get behind the wheel. Good for her on that, at least.
Anyway, are you judging her? I?m not. I have no idea if she?s a raging alcoholic or if she?s merely a happy drunk/social drinker/whatever. I do think she looks like she?s been boozing a lot lately – those are a lot of empty calories in those cocktails, and I guess she?s not under contract with Weight Watchers anymore.

We barely cover Jessica Simpson anymore, which is a shame because I always liked her. I made fun of her sometimes, but honestly, I had a great deal of affection for her and I still do. I think after she gave birth to her second baby, son Ace Knute, she really changed. She stopped giving so many interviews, she grew up a lot, and she stopped wanting to be a celebrity, basically. She?s still doing all of her fashion stuff, but that?s her thing now – she?s a businesswoman in charge of an incredibly popular fashion line. No more ?slutty brownies? or talking endlessly about pregnancies and babies and all of that.
After she gave birth to Ace, Jessica told everyone she was done. I believed her. But people were like ?oh, she?ll change her mind? or ?oh, she?ll get pregnant accidentally again,? because that?s what happened with her second pregnancy. It?s sort of refreshing to hear from a celebrity woman who was like ?nope, I really am done, no more kids.? Jessica told Ellen DeGeneres this week that for sure, no more kids are coming. Because she has an IUD.
Two is enough for Jessica Simpson. The 36-year-old singer recently stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show for an interview that will air Monday, relieved to finally be chatting with the host without a baby in her belly as in previous visits.
?I?m not pregnant,? Simpson said, shutting down rumors that she and husband Eric Johnson were expecting a third bundle of joy. ?We got an IUD, nothing?s gonna get in that uterus.?
DeGeneres quickly replied, ?I?m not touching that.?
?I have two beautiful children, and I?m not having a third,? Simpson added as a photo of her with Johnson and daughter Maxwell Drew, 5, and son Ace Knute, 3, popped up on the screen. ?They?re too cute ? you can?t top that.?

As I said, I like that she?s stuck to it. She doesn?t want any more kids. I don?t even consider the ?We got an IUD, nothing?s gonna get in that uterus? as a Classic J-Simpson TMI statement. It was said with a shrug. The Baby Industrial Complex would have you believe that women are always supposed to want more kids but I really believe that Jessica fundamentally doesn?t want to put her body through that again, nor does she want to have to deal with all of the public criticism she got while pregnant. If I was in her position, I wouldn?t want it either.

This is just a quickie, because I feel like I have barely talked about Jessica Simpson at all this year! Jessica is currently in NYC, probably for work, and these are some photos of Jess out and about yesterday. Her outfit is being discussed all over the place. Extreme bellbottoms and a multi-colored fur jacket. What do you think? When I first glanced through the pics, I was like ?oh, honey, NO.? But as I really size up her whole ensemble, I kind of think she?s pulling it off. The coat is ridiculous, the pants are ridiculous, but put everything together and? I?m sort of okay with it. Is that crazy?
What I?m not okay with: Jessica?s absurd lip injections. She?s not at Kylie Jenner-level yet, but it?s still really noticeable and she doesn?t need them! Her old lips were fine. I wouldn?t swear to this, but I think she?s also getting a little Botox or something? She looks just a little bit tweaked.
What else? I haven?t heard much about Jessica?s marriage recently and I assume she and Eric are still going strong. He?s with her in New York, and I think she gave him a position with her fashion empire company. There were some rumors that she could be knocked up again, but I really do think she?s done having babies. Who knows?
You know what brings this look together? The purse!

We rarely talk about Jessica Simpson these days. I personally think that?s a good thing ? Jessica seems happy, fulfilled and ?grown up? nowadays, and I think the combination of becoming a mom and being in a happy marriage really ?calmed? her down. She doesn?t feel the need to overshare about every little thing, and I genuinely believe that she?s in a good place. Maybe this is a case of ?absence makes the heart grow fonder,? but I actually did miss her. Jessica is like CoCo (Ice-T?s wife): generally harmless, amusing, and incredibly relatable, in a weird way. Jessica covers the September issue of Women?s Health, and she talks about body image, her boobs (of course) and more. Some highlights:
Her boobs: “My boobs just have their own life, they have a way of making themselves present. I thought I was going to get a breast reduction?. After having kids, I look at myself and I’m like, you know what, my boobs are actually really big, but I like how they are. They’re an asset, and Eric loves them still.”
Being a public figure with weight fluctuations: “Media scrutiny sucks. I can’t sit here and say I don’t notice it. I will never understand why people take someone down for what you look like. If I had a character flaw, take me down. But a body flaw? That’s not important.”
Why her weight changes made her a better businesswoman: “I have been every size there is. I know what looks good on a variety of body types. Every woman should feel like she can wear what the model is wearing down the runway.?
Workouts: “Before I was a mom, I was dancing on tables at clubs and that was my workout. Now I?m chasing kids. Your biceps curls are picking up your kids?. I give myself so many excuses not to get on the treadmill, to not do that lunge. Workouts are an emotional experience. I exercise to clear my head. It makes me stronger on every level.”
Loving herself: “I’m hard on myself, I believe everything is a work in progress. But that’s okay. I do love my legs, but my favorite physical attribute is my nose, because it’s not perfect. But recently, since I’ve worked out so hard, I’m also loving my stomach?knowing I grew babies in it, and then having to go through a transformation and just owning it.”
Empowering women: “It’s interesting because I feel like all women are very jealous of each other, but they are also supportive of each other. If we can all own what we love about ourselves, we won’t have to have the jealous part.”

This made me feel sad: ?Media scrutiny sucks. I can’t sit here and say I don’t notice it.? She was being slammed so hard during her first pregnancy, and people really did go overboard ? I even wrote about it at the time, asking for an end to people calling Jessica (and any pregnant celebrity) ?fat.? Did she overshare to a ridiculous degree during her first pregnancy? Sure. We didn?t need to hear about those ?slutty brownies.? But people were still way harsh towards Jessica. But I also believe that she has learned about how to dress women of all sizes from her own weight fluctuations. And speaking as someone built more like the Jessica Simpsons and Kim Kardashians of the world, I?d rather hear their thoughts on fashion rather than the endless parade of size-0 models.
