Cate Blanchett was tapped (I would totally tap that) as the ?face? of a new perfume by Armani earlier this year. These are the first images from the campaign. Lovely, right? The perfume is called Si, and if you couldn?t tell, this isn?t some Taylor Swift perfume. This is a perfume for women. Cate apparently scored a major payday for this campaign too – $10 million, one of the highest endorsement deals ever. Giorgio Armani said in a press release, ?Si is my tribute to modern femininity, an irresistible combination of grace, strength and independent spirit.?
The perfume is being sold in England right now (at Harrods) and will be in stores worldwide later this year. According to The Telegraph, Si is a ?big heady Italian scent, bursting with cassis and rich vanilla. But just as Blanchett adds a subtlety to the campaign, so do the notes of warm musky wood, rose de Mai, freesia and patchouli tone down the juice to turn its final form into a floral chypre.? I usually don?t like ?rich vanilla? scents, but I do want to smell this. And I would like to smell like La Blanchett.
Incidentally, many, many people believe that Cate is a ?lock? for a Best Actress Oscar nomination this year for her role in Woody Allen?s Blue Jasmine, where she plays the wife of a Bernie Madoff-type who loses everything and goes to live with her sister in San Francisco. If the contest is between Cate and Julia Roberts? Um. Yeah, Cate. But what if Emma Thompson gets nominated for Saving Mr. Banks? WHAT IF I HAVE TO CHOOSE?!! Between Cate and Emma? oh God, I don?t even know. Also, do you know how I will FREAK OUT so much if this awards season ends up with Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Fassbender, Emma Thompson and Cate Blanchett getting nominated for all of the big awards? OMG. It?s like the Academy read my dream journal.

This week, every time I look at photos of Cate Blanchett, I think about Yeezus trying to describe Kim Kardashian as his ?Perfect Bitch?. Obviously, there is no comparison between Kim K and Cate B, and I seriously don?t mean ?bitch? as a derogatory name or a pejorative at all. I mean it as, ?Cate Blanchett is a Fierce, Amazing, Perfect Bitch?. Because she is. These are photos of Cate at the LA premiere of her new Woody Allen film, Blue Jasmine. PERFECTION.
Cate is wearing Alexander McQueen, one of her favorite designers. I actually think the dress is a tad on the conservative side for Cate?s usual fashion-forward style. That being said, Cate could wear a trash bag and it would look impossibly chic and avant-garde. Perfect makeup too, and I love that her hair is growing out and she?s keeping it. Cate usually has short hair, but I guess she?s switching it up and I like that it doesn?t look like she drowning herself in weaves either. This might be all her real hair…?
I?m also including some photos of Peter Sarsgaard (creepy/hot), Rose Byrne (wearing a blah Christopher Kane dress), Bobby Cannavale (God, I love him so much) and Kaley Cuoco, who seems to be wearing some kind of romper or pajama set. I realize she wants to be ?seen? after the Henry Cavill breakup, but I?m not sure if this is the outfit for it.

God, I love Cate Blanchett. I?m obsessed with her. These are photos of Cate entering the Ed Sullivan Theater yesterday afternoon, about to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman. I love everything about her. I love the black dress. I love the shoes. I love her slim figure. I love her pale skin. I love her face. Obsessed!
Cate is in NYC to promote her new film Blue Jasmine, written and directed by Woody Allen. This is the first time Cate and Woody have worked together, and she?s been vocal about how much she enjoyed it and how much she always wanted to work with Woody. She plays the wife of a Bernie Madoff-type businessman (played by Alec Baldwin) who loses everything. Cate?s character goes from being a wealthy New York socialite to being some financially strapped women who can?t get a job and is forced to move in with relatives in San Francisco. People are already saying that her performance is something special. When does Cate give a bad performance though? Here?s the trailer:

Continuing promotions for her new film "Blue Jasmine," Cate Blanchett made an appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Monday (July 22).
The 44-year-old actress looked chic in a knee-length black dress and matching heels as she posed for photographers outside the iconic Ed Sullivan theater.
In the upcoming Woody Allen-written-and-directed drama, a life crisis causes a woman to head to San Francisco, where she reconnects with her sister.
Aside from making her late night appearance this evening, Cate was also busy attending the New York City premiere for the film, which took place at the Museum of Modern Art.

Cate Blanchett, goddess, covers the May issue of Harper?s Bazaar Australia, and these are some of the lovely photos from the shoot. While the fashion is questionable, Cate always brings her A-game and I can?t even see the clothes because I?m just so enchanted by her face. Bazaar put a large excerpt of the cover interview online, and you can read it here. Cate is mostly talking about fashion and her work in the theater. Some highlights:
Being criticized for her avant-garde style: ?Couture is a cabinet of curiosities. It?s a place of experimentation and I think the red carpet is a great place to display it. I knew people would either hate that [2009 crochet] dress or really love it. People get so worried about what everybody thinks,? she says. ?But I love Romance Was Born because they have a great anarchic freedom. We enjoy their company. They?ve had a couple of shows in the space here [at Sydney Theatre Company?s The Wharf] and they always come to our Christmas parties.?
Cate?s normal attire: An elegant white Armani business shirt (deeply unbuttoned) under a camel-coloured Donna Karan suit. She wears matching camel sneakers without socks. ?This is all a bit old but I love it,? she says.
Cate on art & the theater: ?Theatre is full of influences from other art forms and that?s what makes it extraordinary,? says Blanchett. ?When you go to the opera, you come home talking about the voices. After the ballet, you talk about the dancers. But when you go to the theatre, you end up talking about politics, art, your marriage and your hopes and dreams. So as theatremakers we have to be engaging with artists from all different disciplines.?

Meanwhile, did you hear that Cate has scored a $10 million deal to become the face of Armani fragrances for women? Thank the lord that SOME designers actually want classy adult women to represent them (as opposed to whatever pop tart has just come of age). Cate?s print ads for Armani will be shot ?soon? and I guess that means they?ll be ready in time for a Fall/Winter campaign? Also: Cate scored the lead in the HBO TV-movie adaptation of Marisa Acocella Marchetto?s memoir, Cancer Vixen. I would imagine La Blanchett will win all of the TV awards for that one.

These are some photos from last night?s (today?s?) 2nd AACTA Awards (The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award) red carpet in Sydney. The red carpet got a decent turnout, especially because my lady Cate Blanchett made an appearance! Cate wore Armani Priv, one of her favorite labels. I can?t say I?m totally in love with this, but I like that she tried it and that she makes this bizarre, stiff-looking design look so regal. I miss her on red carpets, don?t you? Maybe she?ll come to the Oscars this year. PLEASE?! Also: Cate?s boobs look awesome, right? I hope my girls hold up so well.
Nicole Kidman in Erdem. This is a weird color for her, right? Granted, very few women could pull this off, but does Nicole? She comes close to pulling it off I think. As for the Botox and lip-injections and her hair? disaster.
Here?s Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner (they?re starring together in that Hansel & Gretel movie ? they were at the Aussie premiere just hours beforehand). Gemma is wearing Vivienne Westwood. Here?s the thing about Gemma: I love her and I think she?s beautiful and she has a gorgeous, curvy figure. ?Curvy? being ?stacked like a brick s?thouse? not as some kind of code for ?heavy?. She?s a beautiful curvy girl. But I kind of think Gemma has style issues, maybe because of her body and maybe because she just has kind of weird style. Anyway, I?d like to see her improve! Because if she starts getting it right, people will pay more attention to her. Also: that lipstick & hairstyle will need to go.

Here are some photos from last night?s UK premiere of The Hobbit. Finally! I?ve been waiting to see some big premieres for The Hobbit, mostly because I need by Cate Blanchett & Benedict Cumberbatch fixes, but we?ve been having problems. Either we don?t have access to the pics, or the premieres just don?t have anyone cool in attendance. So, it?s good to see most of The Hobbit cast together on the UK red carpet, although there does seem to be a distinct lack of Cumberbatch (SOB).
Anyway, let?s talk about the lovely and talented and amazing Cate Blanchett. Cate wore this Givenchy gown which? uh? I mean, I know why she chose it. Cate loves architectural pieces, she loves bold, avant-garde pieces, and she loves to wear things that very few women could pull off. So, does she pull this off? I kind of think she does, although the back of this bugs me. I guess the design is loosely based on straightjacket or something. But the back is just unflattering. Everything from the waist down is great though.
Here?s Sir Ian McKellan in a delightful velvet tuxedo jacket and a royal-blue, silk-lined overcoat. I love that Sir Ian is so devoted to the Tolkien adaptations and I just feel like he really respects his nerdy LOTR fan-base. Also, some good news: Sir Ian does NOT have cancer after all. Weird.
I love Martin Freeman!!! And I had no idea he was married. This is his wife.
And lastly, I wanted to talk about this photo. Some dude thought it would be a GENIUS idea to propose to his girlfriend AT THE UK PREMIERE OF THE HOBBIT. I?m sorry, ladies, but that?s a f?king dealbreaker. First of all, you?re standing outside in DECEMBER in England, watching the red carpet for the stars of The Hobbit (!!!) and THAT is the moment when your dude proposes? Hopefully, this woman said, ?Um? I think we should see other people.? Michael Fassbender couldn?t even get away with that sh-t. Also: is the girl a Hobbit? She looks really short. Maybe that?s what it is. Some noble dude decided to propose to his Hobbit girlfriend.

Cate Blanchett is tied with Emma Thompson for my #1 favorite celebrity/person/actress/fantasy girlfriend. I find Cate to be exquisitely beautiful and mind-numbingly talented, but with all of that beauty and talent, she still seems? real. She seems like fun. She seems sassy and interesting and up for a good time. Maybe she?s a little eccentric, but that?s part of her charm. What I?ve never really doubted about Cate is that she?s a confident woman, because she has so much to be confident about, you know? But Star Magazine is trying to convince me that my fantasy wife is deeply flawed and racked with self-doubt. Blanchett, please.

?She feels like she?s always being watched and is very self-conscious,? admits the spy. ?She used to be so outgoing, but now she?s very shy. Her friends have tried to discuss it with her, but she just plays it off, claiming she has a case of real-world stage fright.?

Well, she was JUST at the premiere of The Hobbit last week (I?ve included a couple of photos below from the premiere), so it?s not like she?s holed up somewhere, getting boozy and obsessively applying eye cream. Or maybe that?s what she did at The Hobbit afterparty? Anyway, I think this is probably more about Cate?s lack of Hollywood drive, and I?m not saying that in a bad way at all. She just hasn?t made a lot of movies over the past few years, mainly because she and her husband were working in Australia and committed to stage work. But there is some good news? Cate has about a million projects lined up or already in postproduction. 2013 will The Year of The Blanchett!!! HUZZAH. Maybe then she?ll finally leave her husband and she and I can marry in Washington State? (Huzzah to you, Washington state!)

Looking to spend a little time Down Under, Cate Blanchett arrived at the Kingsford Smith International Airport in Sydney, Australia on Wednesday (November 14).
The Aussie born actress was stylishly dressed in black pants, a blouse and black jacket as she made her way through the busy airport with her luggage.
Ms. Blanchett was nominated for a British theater award for her role in the Sydney Theatre Company?s touring production of ?Gross Und Klein.? The ceremony will be held in London on November 25.
Fans can also see the 43-year-old star in her upcoming film ?The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.? The Peter Jackson directed flick hits theaters nationwide on December 14, 2012.
