Just hours away from her controversial project's airing, Hayden Panettiere has found herself in a defensive mode while promoting the Lifetime movie "Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy".
Fighting the made-for-TV movie from the beginning, Miss Knox's legal team has tried to stop its broadcast while saying that it may hurt their client's chance for an appeal.
Of the challenging reaction she's received for the role, Hayden told the Los Angeles Times, "I've definitely gotten harsh questions. It's nothing that would incriminate her or sway a judge's opinion of her in a court of law. That's the main concern here."
As for the story, Amanda Knox was charged in December 2009 with the murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher.
The incident is alleged to have happened in 2007 while Knox was studying abroad in Italy.
With Amanda currently serving a 26-year sentence, Panettiere told of her position on the case, saying, "I couldn't even tell you, because I haven't decided. The approach I had to take was that even if she was guilty, she had convinced herself she was innocent."
"To a certain degree, guilty or innocent, I want to see her get out and be able to live the rest of her life," the "Heroes" actress added. "She's someone that I root for."

Taking care of some media duties, Hayden Panettiere was spotted stopping by the PIX11 Morning New Studios in New York City this morning (February 14).
The ?I Love You Beth Cooper? babe was more than happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures as she made her exit.
Hayden was in the house to promote her new Lifetime movie ?Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy.?
And though the family of Amanda Knox has expressed disapproval over the film, Miss Panettiere says they?ll change their tune once they watch it.
?It's very fact driven and Lifetime is great with doing things like that and fact checking. I don't think there is anything in there that would sway an opinion or have any impact negatively or positively on her appeal.?
?I think if the family saw it, they would probably be much more relaxed then they are about it now. Maybe the parents would. I don't know if she would or not. I don't know if that would be a good idea to have to relive the whole experience of it - that is up to her.?

Getting the day underway, Hayden Panettiere was spotted out in Beverly Glen, California on Thursday (February 3).
The former "Heroes" actress was clad in an off-white top with grey trousers and interesting two-toned boots as she got her coffee fix at a brew house at the Beverly Glen Mall.
Meanwhile, Miss Panettiere is readying for the debut of her recently filmed gig "Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy" - which will premiere on Lifetime February 21.
Talking about the role during a recent interview, Hayden said, ?It?s difficult to play a character when you don?t know what the truth is. You can never have any of those underlying thoughts or emotions.?
Having to base her portrayal of Knox off of video rather than first-hand observation, the 21-year-old said prior to shooting the made for TV movie, ?I wish (I could meet her). I know the Italian government is being pretty protective of her, her lawyers are being protective of her, which is pretty understandable. It?s something I would like to do, but I?d be more surprised if it happened than if it didn?t.?

Following the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards, Hayden Panettiere was ready to party all night long.
The ?Heroes? hottie and her hunky boyfriend, Russian boxer Wladimir Klitschko, hit up the InStyle/Warner Bros post-party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
They also paid a visit to the swanky HBO post party, held at the snazzy Circa 55 restaurant in Los Angeles.
Hayden and Wladimir recently returned from a romantic and relaxing vacation in Hawaii where they stayed at a luxury resort.

Hard at work overseas, Hayden Panettiere was spotted on the set of the movie "True Stories: The Trials of Amanda Knox" in Rome, Italy on Thursday (November 18).
Directed by Garfield Kennedy, the former "Heroes" actress plays Amanda Knox in the Lifetime flick, which recounts the story of the American student accused of killing her roommate in 2007.
Aside from her Amanda Knox efforts, Hayden was also announced as having signed on for the upcoming Nelson McCormick directed thriller "Downer's Grove".
Joining Nikki Reed and Rebecca De Mornay, the movie is said to "follow the story of Downers Grove, a cursed suburb of Chicago."

The former "Heroes" hottie and her boxing beau stepped out on Saturday night (October 16) to cheer on Wlad's brother Vitali as he took on Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs.
Having plenty of reason to celebrate, Vitali won the under the radar W.B.C heavyweight title fight in what's been dubbed a "lopsided" 12-round decision.
Aside from her boxing spectating weekend in Germany, Hayden can be seen channeling her inner geek in the upcoming "Scream 4" movie.
In the film - which debuts a teaser trailer during Spike TV's Scream 2010 Awards on Tuesday night (October 19) - Miss Panettiere, 21, plays a "nerdy film buff named Kirby Reed.
