| Aishwarya Rai wore Ashi Studio & Jean-Louis Sabaji in Cannes: love it or hate it? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ve mentioned this a few times, but I?ve really phoned in the Cannes fashion coverage this year, and I?m sorry. I?m sorry that the fashion sucks this year! And that I have barely talked about it. But I?ll make it right with this post, starring one of my favorites: Aishwarya Rai. Rai is one of the most famous and famously beautiful women in the world, and she attends Cannes every year because of her beauty contracts. She?s really trying to bring the big, dumb glamour this year. Last night, for the La belle poque premire, Aish wore this giant Ashi Studio gown which was customized for her. First of all, the makeup! She?s like the Indian Elizabeth Taylor to me those hypnotic eyes can take a mountain of dramatic eye makeup. The gown is only really good for an event like Cannes.
On Sunday night, Rai wore this Jean-Louis Sabaji Couture gown which is supposed to look futuristic. I kind of like the train, but the one-sleeve thing isn?t great. Still, I?m blinded by my standom so I think she pulls it off.
I?m also including photos of Bella Hadid over the weekend, wearing a 2005 Roberto Cavalli gown. What?s going on with Bella? I swear her face looks different. This gown weirdly suits her too, right?

| Aishwarya Rai in Elie Saab & Ali Younes at Cannes: too beige-y or beautiful? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I love Aishwarya Rai, and I will defend her honor and her beauty all day, every day. But I will not defend her style. Like, if we?re just judging her from the neck up, Aishwarya will always be the winner. But every year, Cannes rolls around and Aishwarya gets paid to show up and look beautiful, and I often find myself questioning her style choices. I?m not saying she has to go full Barbie or anything, but I don?t understand why a woman with her coloring is so enamored with beigey-nudes. Here?s Aishwarya in Elie Saab. This beigey-pink-nude does nothing for her. And Elie Saab does some great work with bright colors! So why this? Also, I feel like her lipstick is a bit too dark.
Here is Aishwarya in Ali Younes Couture a few nights ago in Cannes? I don?t get it. At all. The nude-netting cape and the dress? I mean, it?s not BAD. It?s not ?WTF?? It?s just not as pretty as it should be, in my opinion. And the turquoise eye makeup? I actually sort of like that, it reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra.
Juliette Binoche in Armani Prive. Juliette is awesome, and I like the simplicity of this. I just wish she had done something else with her hair (she did a center part with a long-ass braid down the back).
Li Yuchun in Julien Fourni Couture. Even though I would never wear this and I don?t even like it that much, I admire that Li Yuchun went for a big, bold look.
Araya A. Hargate in Zuhair Murad Spring 2016 Couture. I actually love this. It?s perfect for Cannes, the fabric is interesting, and I sort of wish Aishwarya had worn this.

| Aishwarya Rai in lilac Elie Saab at Cannes amfAR gala: beautiful or boring? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here is what I hope will be the last Cannes amfAR gala fashion post! There were more people than I was expecting, but I was right about it being so model-heavy. Sigh? I like seeing what models are wearing, but I would have loved it if more movie stars came out for this year?s amfAR gala. And since Cannes is coming to an end this weekend, this is probably my last Cannes post this year with Aishwarya Rai as the lead lady. I love her! She wore this lilac Elie Saab. Beautiful color, completely mundane design. Still, I?m glad that the gown doesn?t actively distract from her face.
We finally got to see Diane Kruger in Chanel this week, although Joshua Jackson is still MIA. I?m worried, you guys. What if they?re having problems?! Anyway, I dislike this Chanel on Diane, but whatever.
Isabella Rossellini. She is everything. Bow down!
Petra Nemcova in Versace. This is her best look so far at Cannes, but that?s mostly because she?s finally covered up.
Toni Garrn in colorful Elie Saab ? I?ll give her this, this gown stood out. Too bad it was on such a bland model!
Adrien Brody and his long-time girlfriend Lara Lieto. I really can?t with them. But her dress IS rather nice.
Eva Longoria in Georges Hobeika. She?s worn versions of this dress a million times. She?s in such a style rut!
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton. She?s one of the brand ambassadors for LV. Do you think this is a good association? Meh.

Michael Fassbender was apparently one of the co-sponsors of this gala. It?s a shame he didn?t walk the carpet then, you know?

| Did Aishwarya Rai's fug Ralph & Russo gown distract from her gorgeous face' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

There should be an international law that Aishwarya Rai cannot wear anything that tries to distract from her face. I?ve already discussed how magnificently beautiful she is, but she really needs to keep it simple! This Ralph & Russo Couture gown is too much!! Aish attended last night?s Cannes Film Festival premiere of Youth, and while she was easily one of the most stunning women there, more people could have admired her beauty if she wasn?t wearing this crazy half-origami gown. PS? You know what else she needed? Darker lipstick.
Petra Nemcova in Zuhair Murad Spring 2015. The peplum kills it for me. If this had been a sleeker two-piece ensemble, like a fitted silk jacket with no peplum and a chiffon skirt, it would have worked a lot better.
Chanel Iman in Donna Karan Atelier. One of the few Donna Karan appearances at Cannes from what I?ve seen. I like it! It?s a good example of how to do that shiny satin really well. The fit is great, which is absolutely necessary.
Karlie Kloss in Louis Vuitton. I think I?ve hated every Louis Vuitton look so far at Cannes. This is no different. It?s totally wrong for this red carpet. Worn to a premiere in NYC? Sure, it would be fine. But it looks more like she?s just going to some after-parties rather than walking one of the biggest red carpets in the world.
Joan Smalls in Alaa. She wasn?t the only one doing the midriff-bearing thing on this red carpet (Kendell Jenner did it too). I like Alaa, but this doesn?t even seem like Alaa. It?s too flouncy, not body-con enough. I?m just not feeling it.
Barbara Palvin in Versace. Yes, the skirt has some weird sheer panels. I like the idea of a younger model in classic black Versace, but I think the sheer sleeves might make this look too ?mature? for her. She?s young enough to have hooked up with Justin Bieber (that happened a few years ago too). She shouldn?t be in a gown that I could easily see on Jane Fonda.
Lara Stone is some kind of hot mess in this vintage Gianni Versace gown. They probably opened up the archives for her, but this is not what they should have chosen for poor Lara. It doesn?t fit her!!!

| Cannes: Aishwarya Rai's magnificent face made everything else obsolete | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are even more endless Cannes fashion photos! YAY! These are some assorted photos from a few different events on Monday and Tuesday. Let?s start with Aishwarya Rai in Oscar de la Renta at a yacht photocall for her first film in five years, Jazbaa. I was complaining about Rai?s earlier looks this week, but this is much more on-target for her. Love the rich red-burgundy on her. And that face! God, that face. Two years ago, Rai was heavily criticized for not losing her pregnancy weight fast enough for some people. I hope Rai tells them all to kiss her ass.
Natalie Portman in this Lanvin gown. As I said with both Lupita Nyong?o and Poppy Delevingne, I?m really enjoying the green gowns at Cannes this year. Only a few ladies are doing green, and when they do, it really pops. This Lanvin might be my favorite look on Natalie for the entire film festival ? it?s slouchy and it had the soul of a sack dress, but it manages to look lux and sophisticated too. Plus, it has pockets!
Daria Strokous? I have no idea who she is, but she wore this Luisa Beccaria gown which is pretty much a copy of a Dior gown from 12 years ago (that every other designer copied six years ago). Pretty color though.
Sienna Miller, Rachel Weisz and Melanie Laurent at the Calvin Klein-Cannes event on Monday. They all wore CK and I think Rachel is my favorite, but I do love Melanie?s dress too. Why do all of these women look like they just woke up from a nap though?

| Aishwarya Rai shows off her new blunt bangs on Vogue India: hot or awful? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Aishwarya Rai, or Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, covers the new issue of Vogue India. I?ve written about the lovely Aishwarya before ? she?s sort of the Angelina Jolie of Bollywood, she?s been called one of the most beautiful women in the world, and she?s married to an equally famous Bollywood actor named Abhishek Bachchan. They had a baby girl in 2011, and Aishwarya was criticized for not losing the ?baby weight? fast enough, because people are mean and stupid.
I wanted to cover this because? BANGS. Aishwarya ?went away? for several years during and after her pregnancy, only making some paid appearances in Cannes on behalf of her beauty-campaign contracts. This Vogue India cover marks a ?comeback? of sorts. She?s 41 years old and ready to work again. And so we?re seeing a whole new Aishwarya. With BANGS. She?s still a beautiful woman, of course, but these bangs do absolutely nothing for her. She has a round face, and the bangs make her face look even rounder.
As for Aish?s big ?comeback,? this is what she has to say about it with Vogue India:
Comeback? What a strange word. Comebacks are for people who cashed in their cheques, switched off the bright lights, retired to the Bahamas, and then sheepishly snuck back in realising they still had a little gas in the tank for one more. Why, she never went away. “Yes, there was a maternity leave, just like any other working woman?in fact, I was working right up to my sixth month, with my various product endorsements and other stuff. There were no movies, obviously,” she says.
There were no movies, no, but we do remember seeing that exquisite partum glow on her cheeks as she tossed her hair for L’Oreal. “Yes, and the UNAIDS work carried on as well. They had approached me way back in 2001, and I had declined it then; there was too much going on at the time for me to do justice to it. I wanted to be more than just a pretty face issuing PSAs; I wanted to be hands on. Almost 12 years later, this seemed like the perfect time. Then there were the endless meetings to ideate new things, future movie roles, more and more brands?” she smiles, as if to reiterate, “What comeback?”
[From Vogue India]
I wonder if she will still have a thriving acting career now. Now that she?s a mother, now that she?s over 40, now that Bollywood changes by the moment. I have no doubt she will still work, but it might not be in Indian films. She will still launch beauty campaigns, she will still be invited to Cannes, she will still get lots of modeling contracts. But let?s see how her comeback plays out. In the meantime? NO MORE BANGS.

| Aishwarya Rai shows off her weight loss in Elie Saab in Cannes: gorgeous? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

At last year?s Cannes film Festival, Aishwarya Rai rode into town on a storm of controversy. Rai gave birth to a daughter, Aaradhya, in November 2011 and by the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, Rai hadn?t lost the baby weight. So the Indian papers went crazy calling her ?fat? and saying that she was letting down her country by not keeping it tight or whatever. It was very depressing, and Rai did stay pretty covered-up throughout the CFF last year.
Well, she came back this year because she?s still a L?Oreal brand ambassador and because Cannes is celebrating 100 years of Bollywood. And guess what? Aishwarya lost the baby weight. She wore Elie Saab on the red carpet for Inside Llewyn Davis last night, and she looked gorgeous. Can this be over now? Can we stop talking about her weight now? I think the Indian media didn?t really know how to handle it last year ? their celebrity gossip culture was and is very possessive of ?their? stars, and it seemed to really bother people that one of their brightest stars didn?t look perfectly camera-ready. I hope Aishwarya didn?t take any of the criticism to heart.
I?m also including some pics of Rai with her little girl, who is probably? what? About a year-and-a-half old. Indian babies!

| Aishwarya Rai shows off her criticized figure at UN dinner: still gorgeous? | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Aishwarya Rai is a goddess! These are new photos of Aish at the United Nations ?Every Woman Every Child? Dinner last night in NYC. The United Nations opening has drawn so many world leaders and international activists to New York this year ? they?re also in town for the Clinton Global Initiative too, by the way. Anyway, we haven?t talked about Aish since May, when Indian critics and bloggers went f?king crazy criticizing Aish for not losing her postpartum baby weight soon enough. There were some in India who felt that Aishwarya was ?letting her people down? by not getting back to her old figure soon enough. Rai appeared at the Cannes Film Festival one week later, and she still looked magnificent, so I don?t get why this whole thing was such a BFD.
As you can see in these photos, Rai is still gorgeous, and she still a voluptuous woman. That?s all I really have to say ? she looks great. I wouldn?t mind if she changed up her style a bit, but maybe she feels like she has to wear more traditional Indian clothing when she?s overseas, like she?s a representative of Indian style. Rai was at the dinner last night because she?s just been named the newest international goodwill ambassador to UNAIDS:
The United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) has appointed Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as its International Goodwill Ambassador. She will raise global awareness on protecting children from HIV infection and increasing access to antiretroviral treatment.
The appointment came a day before the start of the annual debate at the UN General Assembly. Aishwarya has been involved in humanitarian issues for many years and will now have a special focus on HIV/AIDS, Xinhua reported. At a press conference Monday, UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe welcomed Aishwarya to the UNAIDS family.
“Mrs. Rai Bachchan is respected and admired by millions of people around the world,” Sidibe said. “I am convinced that through her global outreach, Mrs. Rai Bachchan can help UNAIDS reach its goal of eliminating new HIV infections among children by 2015.”
Speaking on this occasion, Aishwarya said: “I am honoured to accept this appointment. Spreading awareness on health issues, especially

Stepping out for a promotional appearance, Aishwarya Rai and Dev Patel were spotted at the grand opening of the new Bulgari Hotel in London on Tuesday night (June 12).
The ?Bride and Prejudice? babe and the ?Slumdog Millionaire? stud looked to be having a marvelous time as they hammed it up for the paparazzi.
Aishwarya was dressed to kill in a Pink gold, dimond, and green tourmaline ring from Bulgari, while Dev donned a Carbon Gold wristwatch.
Ms. Rai told press that motherhood is ?splendid? during an interview at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival last month.
