Showing off quite a bit of leg for the A-list evening, Kate Beckinsale attended the 2013 Costume Institute Gala for the "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 6).
The "Underworld" star looked sexy in a red strapless dress with an opening on one side, revealing one toned leg as she posed on the red carpet.
With co-chairs Rooney Mara, Lauren Santo Domingo, Riccardo Tisci, and Anna Wintour, the 2013 Met Costume Gala is poised to be the biggest and brightest so far.
Of the ?PUNK: Chaos to Couture? theme, Metropolitan Museum of Art Director and CEO Thomas P. Campbell told press, ?Punk?s signature mixing of references was fueled by artistic developments such as Dada and postmodernism, so it makes sense to present this exhibition in a museum that also shows the broader output of those movements. Indeed, that dialogue between art and fashion is what makes The Costume Institute so singular. Projects like this don?t happen without sponsorship, and we greatly appreciate the generosity of Moda Operandi, and its co-founders Aslaug Magnusdottir and Lauren Santo Domingo.?

Here is Kate Beckinsale smashing red at the 2013 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. She wearing Pink frock from Alberta Ferretti, the unofficial colour of the evening, Kate looked fantastic in a strapless, asymetrical, high-low dress.
Kate was without her usual date, husband Len Wiseman, but she had plenty of fellow fashionable stars to rub elbows with all night long.

Here we have Kate Beckinsale in tiered asymettric Alberta Ferretti, looking like she’s going to the Golden Globes. As I mentioned earlier, a few of the designers said last night that “pink is the color of punk.” No it isn’t. They may have tried to reinvent punk as some Avril Lavigne Pink skull teenage angst, but that’s not true to the movement. This is in homage to nothing except Hollywood, although Kate looks flawless and somewhat too “done” as usual. I do like her earrings but they’re contemporary, not punk.
Elizabeth Banks mixed it up in a Atelier Versace gold chainmail jacket dress with studds. In the late 80s I used to hit up the Salvation Army for men’s jackets, which I would wear with dresses, t-shirts and jeans, and always with combat boots. This dress reminds me of that jacket trend. It’s kind of cool.
Dakota and Elle Fanning were cute sisters in Rodarte. I didn’t realize how much taller Elle, 15, was than her sister Dakota, 19, until I saw them on the red carpet interviewed together. They were super cute and giggly and Elle admitted she’s more adventurous with fashion than her sister. This dress with sequin angel wings on the back was very true to the theme and looked great on Dakota. Elle’s dress was more 60s hippie with the tie dye, but I like that she went experimental and that she’s covered up.
Hailee Steinfeld was styled so differently that I didn’t recognize her at first! She was in Donna Karan Atelier, and she was there with Teen Vogue editor Andrew Bevan. (not shown.) The dress isn’t that “punk,” but its whimsical and her hair and makeup make up for it.
Finally Julianne Moore was a big miss in this navy blue Balenciaga sack gown. I get the impression that Julianne is such a compliant person that she lets designers do whatever they want she doesn’t push back at all. This was a snooze and did not flatter her.

She was looking good, dressed down in a comfy lookin’ sweater, cool shades and her insanely adorable pup!
I’m seeing so much of this lately in LA… people taking their dogs everywhere they go, even into stores and restaurants. It’s hard for me to eat when there’s a dog sitting at the next table and I wonder if it’s even legal?
I still love Kate though, I’d even let the dog watch while I humped her.

Taking a break from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood, Kate Beckinsale soaked up the sun while enjoying a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Friday (March 29).
The "Total Recall" actress showed off her flawless bikini body in a black two piece as she happily lounged around poolside with family and friends.
Although she's getting in some relaxation now, it looks like Miss Beckinsale might be getting back to work soon as she is slated to star in a new psychological thriller.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 39 year-old star is in negotiations to take part in Brad Anderson's upcoming flick "Eliza Graves."
The thriller, which is set to hit theaters in 2014, is officially described as follows: "A recent medical school grad who takes a position at a mental institution soon finds himself taken with one of his colleagues -- though he has no initial idea of a recent, horrifying staffing change."

Based on a story by Edgar Allen Poe, Kate Beckinsale just signed onto the upcoming film "Eliza Graves."
The thriller follows a doctor who takes a job at a mental institution and falls for another doctor there. However, chaos ensues when the facility becomes overrun by its patients.
Inspired by the Poe tale, "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether," the movie will be directed by Brad Anderson.
With shooting expected to begin in June, stay tuned to GossipCenter for more news as "Eliza Graves" takes shape.
