Kate Beckinsale sat down for an interview with the LA Times, which was published this week. At first I only saw a few quotes, all referencing her romance with Pete Davidson (insert barf emoji) and I thought ?wow that?s weird that she would do an interview with the LA Times and talk about Pete the entire time.? But she doesn?t. In context, the questions about Pete came at the end of the interview and she doesn?t even say Pete?s name (which is hilarious to me for some reason, like he doesn?t even have a name or maybe she doesn?t remember it). The point of the piece is that she promoting her Amazon show, The Widow. Which is probably the point of her thing with Pete too a little promotion, a way to get her name in the gossip mags. Some highlights from the LAT:
She loves Marmite: ?We have this substance in England called Marmite. It?s a yeast-based vegetable spread that you really, really like or you really, really don?t?. I?m OK with being Marmite. The people who like me really, really like me and would jump in front of trains for me. But if you don?t like me, I don?t care. It really doesn?t affect me.?
On Instagram (where she recently wiped all of her posts): ?I?ve always had that persona. The thing that?s been odd for me over the years is ? I think when you?re standing around in skintight rubber trousers, people automatically assume you don?t have much of a sense of humor. That?s always been an odd schism for me. I just always was me. I did the films I did and then a persona was constructed that didn?t feel at all accurate. I struggled with that for awhile and really didnt want to become involved in social media. First of all, I had a flip phone until embarrassingly recently. I also felt that if you want to complain about not having privacy, it seems the height of hypocrisy to say, ?Here?s the boiled egg I?m eating for breakfast,? or ?This is me in the bathroom.? I had no interest in it, so I never had Twitter; I still have don?t have Facebook.
Whether she?s surprised by the attention her love life is getting: ?I?m surprised by the interest. I?ve never been in this position before ? never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief. It?s all quite shocking, and something to get used to. I think if you liked the person less, you would bow out of it. If that were the main thrust of the relationship, there would be a problem. But it?s not.
Whether the attention has any impact: ?I?d rather not have people hiding outside my house. It?s a little old fashioned to have a woman?s personal life [looked at like that]. It?s a little bit tired.?

I found this interesting ?I?ve never been in this position before ? never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief.? It?s true she was with Michael Sheen before anyone knew him, and by the time he became a respected film, TV and stage actor, they had been over for many years. Then she was with Len Wiseman for years and years and she was obviously the more famous person in that couple. All of the men she?s dated post-Len have been less famous than her too. So Pete really is the first ?celebrity? she?s been with. Here?s my take: Kate finds that she loves the attention. Kate is enjoying herself and enjoying the fact that the gossip mags are talking about her and she?s getting lots of blog coverage and all that. That being said, she?s still going to tap out when sh-t gets too serious.

In this week?s Gossip with Celebitchy podcast, CB and I debated whether we (or anyone else) really cared about Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson as a couple. Pete and Kate have been happening since the Golden Globes, and they?ve been sighted and photographed together in public on two occasions, the last one being their trip to Madison Square Garden last week to watch a Rangers game. They made out in full view of the cameras and my stomach turned. CB pointed out that Kate needs some attention right now because she has an Amazon series, and thus the ?flaunting? of her relationship with younger-man Pete. I still just have a strong aversion to this, probably because I?ve never been into Pete in any way, shape or form. I suspect some women Kate, Ariana see Pete as a project, or as a troubled guy whom they can take care of or save in some way. I?ve never been that kind of woman. Anyway, in case there are people who care about analyzing this relationship, the New York Post had a crazy-long write up about what?s happening. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
Is this a real romance? According to one of Davidson?s comedy pals, this latest unexpected hookup is, at least in part, ?a ?f?k you? to Ariana.? However sources close to the comic said, despite the age difference, ?This is a real romance. They are really into each other. They?ve been trying to stay low key, but they can?t go anywhere without getting spotted.?
His friends are supportive: ?They saw him so down after Ariana,? said a second comedy insider. ?His friends were afraid for his mental health?.All [Davidson?s friends] want him to do is be happy. And right now, he definitely is.?
Kate is happy too: ?Kate loves the attention ? both from a younger guy and the media,? said a Hollywood executive with knowledge of the situation. ?She hasn?t been in the press this much in years.?
Pete was cruising for a girlfriend when they met: ?Pete was definitely cruising,? added the friend, who was also there. ?He can?t go too long without a girlfriend ? he?s that co-dependent.? Almost immediately, sources said, the comedian began chatting up Beckinsale on a patio. ?They were being very flirty together, they were sitting very close on the outside patio seating,? a source told Page Six. ?Kate had her hand on his knee, and she kept laughing at all his jokes.? After about an hour, the two left together. ?He couldn?t believe his luck!? said the comedy pal of Davidson. ?He never thought it would turn into anything [except] maybe a great make-out session.?
Kate loves to party & she loves attention: ?She?s a regular Benjamin Button,? said one Hollywood friend of Beckinsale?s seemingly ageless beauty and vitality. ?When Victoria and David Beckham [lived in Los Angeles], Kate and Len and Eva [Longoria] and Tony [Parker] hit the town with them every night. Kate started to love dressing up and morphed into a total bombshell. She loved the attention. And if you look at her movies, she started in art films but morphed into an action figure with the ?Underworld? [series]. She?s lightened up now and having a blast.?
Pete?s friends worry that he?s in for another public fall: ?They?re afraid the lack of privacy might blow up in his face,? said a producer in the know. ?He kisses first and asks questions later. But that?s Pete.? And Beckinsale insiders say that the actress, now starring on the Amazon show ?The Widow,? doesn?t put up with nonsense. ?Right now, Kate wants a laugh,? said the Hollywood executive. ?But she?s a very together woman and totally in charge of her life. If Pete gets too dependent or starts to spiral down, she won?t stick around.?

?If Pete gets too dependent or starts to spiral down, she won?t stick around?? True or false? I think it?s probably true. Kate doesn?t see this as a love match. She sees it as something fun and different, a relationship which gets her some headlines and helps her promote her show. But yeah, Pete is codependent and troubled and I?m not sure he understands how Kate is not really in it for the long haul, in sickness and in health. That being said, where did this ?poor Pete is codependent and he can?t ever be alone? narrative come from? It might be true, but the way it?s being framed is so odd. If we were talking about a woman, the vibe would be so different.

This is Kate Beckinsale at the premiere of her Amazon series, The Widow, in a goofy Giambattista Valli gown thats very short, very frou-frou and reminds us of her other poor life choices. This is glittery, it has poofy tulle all over it, its quite low cut and it has a giant bow at the front. At least its black and not some bright color that would make the bad details stand out more.
The Widow, not to be confused with the surely far superior film Widows, has season one out on Amazon Prime now. (Fix your fast forward feature Amazon!) I just watched the trailer and it involves Kates character searching for answers after her husband is allegedly killed in a plane crash. She thinks he may still be alive and that the plane was bombed. Its getting mixed reviews with critics praising Kates performance.
Kate is of course dating Pete Davidson. She looked ashamed to be seen out with him last month, but then she made out with him courtside at a Rangers game over the weekend. As Kaiser mentioned, seeing the two of them making out is quite an appetite deterrent. But thats Kate, she owns her bad choices and she wears them proudly.
Youve surely seen the memes of Antoni Porowski, the food expert from Queer Eye, side eyeing these two while theyre sucking face. Pete is actually friends with Tan France, Queer Eyes fashion guy. Tan took Pete shopping in an SNL skit and Tan was going to help Pete get outfitted for his wedding to Ariana Grande but thank goodness that didnt happen. Do you think Tan could help Kate or does she not want help? Like is this dress as deliberately bad as her taste in men? The bad dresses could at least be a contractual obligation.

As we discussed this weekend, Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson are happening. It upsets me. Kate, 45, and Pete, 25, were first linked together just after the Golden Globes, when they were apparently getting flirty together at a post-Globes party, and perhaps left the party together. I hoped, at the time, that it was just a one-night thing. It was not. They?re, like, a couple now. There?s still a lot of wtfery around this pairing, but People Magazine?s sources insist that Kate is all about younger guys these days because they make her feel ?good about herself.? Oh honey.
Girls just wanna have fun ? and nobody knows that better than Kate Beckinsale! On Friday, the 45-year-old actress supported Pete Davidson at his stand-up comedy show in Los Angeles. Though the pair left the venue hand-in-hand and headed back to Davidson?s Santa Monica hotel together, a source close to Beckinsale says her relationship with the Saturday Night Live star, 25, is not likely to go any further ? due in part to her failed marriage with Len Wiseman.
?Kate?s not looking to get serious with someone. She was really hurt after her marriage with Len ended,? the source told PEOPLE. ?She wants to have fun with guys and date around. She loves the attention from the younger men she dates.?
?It makes her feel good about herself too,? the insider added. ?She doesn?t care what people think.?
Davidson is not the first younger man to catch Beckinsale?s attention in the wake of her divorce with Wiseman. Over the summer, the actress was linked to 23-year-old comedian and actor Matt Rife. The duo eventually called it quits after two months of dating. Then in November 2018, Beckinsale started dating 30-year-old British actor and comedian Jack Whitehall. The pair, who have a 15-year age gap, were spotted showing some PDA at a karaoke bar in Los Angeles, partying and kissing at a candle-lit booth.

If she?s set limits for herself and she doesn?t want to get pulled into anything serious or, one would hope, pulled into the incessant drama of 20-something dating then so be it and good for her. My issue was always with the idea that Pete and Kate could be wrapping this up as a love match, and I would never be able to get on-board for that. To be clear, I appreciate that Pete has been open about his issues and about seeking help. I just think that he has too many very real issues for a woman close to my age to be like ?hey, check out my hot young stud!? There are so many younger guys who have fewer complications. I?m not saying Pete is unworthy of love at all, but I definitely feel like he might benefit more from some in-depth therapy as opposed to a pap-friendly relationship with a cougar.

Pete Davidson turned up for some of the Golden Globes parties on Sunday. He went to the InStyle party and posed with Machine Gun Kelly, although I don?t know if they actually went together to the event as bros. After that, it seems like Pete went to the Netflix party, which is where he ran into Kate Beckinsale. And? like, sparks flew? The weirdest sh-t goes down at some of these parties, I swear to God.

There are some crazy fads out there, but for some reason, I can totally get behind goat yoga. After seeing photos from Kate Beckinsales quest for zen among some cute critters, Im completely on board.
On Thursday, the actress celebrated her 45th birthday with some adorable dwarf goats. Along for the celebration were her 19-year-old daughter Lily and Lilys dad, Kates ex, Michael Sheen. Kate chronicled the event on Instagram. She posted a photo of a downward dog with a goat on her backside, givinga shout out to goat companions Billy and Burlap. We all prayed that the goat?s blessings would happen on Michael?s mat and they did. She thanked the goats for knowing instinctively where to friendly fire. Side note, if goat yoga leaves me with a physique like Kates, Im signing up immediately.
