Kirsten Dunst was at CinemaCon last week promoting her Sofia Coppola film, The Beguiled, which comes out in June. She wore this little Gucci print dress on the red carpet and I think it?s really cute. I don?t like the bow thing at the neck or the sweatband cuffs on the sleeves but the cut and pattern are darling on her.
The Beguiled (trailer below), a remake of the 1971 Clint Eastwood film, is about a group of pious and seemingly chaste women living in the Civil War era South who come to be locked in their home with Colin Farrell. You can see their problem, of course ? remaining chaste while locked in a house with Colin Farrell is a challenge to great for most to meet. The pious part would be okay, I?d thank God every day. Anyway, the movie gets quite racy with several of the ladies falling prey to Colin?s character’s charms, which results in many love scenes. Going off the trailer, it looks like the consent with each lady varies. Marc Malkin from E! interviewed Dunst during CinemaCon about her sex scenes in which she is shown on the floor having her clothing ripped off. She said that she doesn?t like to do sex scenes but prefers a female director because women are more sensitive to the situation.
If you’ve watched the trailer for directorSofia Coppola’sThe Beguiled, you may have noticed that it looks likeColin FarrellandKirsten Dunsthave quite the sex scene.
“I am on the floor and my clothes are being ripped,” Dunst explains.
No surprise, but Dunst is never that comfortable shooting such scenes.
“I don’t like it, I don’t like it,” she told me recently at CinemaCon. “To be honest, I’m like, ‘Let’s get this over with as fast as possible.’”
Fortunately, this time around, she was working once again with Coppola. Their previous films includeThe Virgin SuicidesandMarie Antoinette. Male directors want “to shoot it from every angle,” Dunst said. “At least Sofia’s like, ‘We’re going to get this done quick, we’re just gonna shoot it here, we’ll do three takes, be done.’”

As the article states, Dunst and Coppola have worked together before so that must be a relief to Dunst when considering a role like this. Many actors have said they dislike filming love scenes and I can see why. It really bothered me what Dunst said about male directors wanting to go until they get every angle. It just reads like someone who is getting more out of the experience than a shot.
As for Farrell, he recognizes that women have traditionally been exploited more than men when it comes to love scenes. His approach is to, ?just [do] whatever your female dance partner needs.” He goes on to say that includes not relinquishing all control to the women if she feels it’s patronizing. Basically, Farrell is promoting listening to his scene partner as to which approach makes her comfortable. I feel like Farrell gets it because when he started to answer the question, he said, ?look ? all jokes aside.? I make jokes about wanting to be locked in a house with Farrell but truthfully, I would be uncomfortable as hell filming any kind of love scene. Were I to film one, I would far prefer a director and a co-star who were considerate of that fact.
Now watching loves scenes, that?s another story?

While I know this isn?t the most popular opinion, but I?ve always believed that Kirsten Dunst wanted Garrett Hedlund to propose to her, and when they still weren?t engaged after many years, she started looking for the exit. Perhaps there was even some overlap between the end of her relationship with Garrett and the start of her relationship with Jesse Plemons, her costar (and on-screen husband) in Fargo?s Season 2. Jesse and Kiki became a couple last year, apparently, although who knows when they really began? And unlike Garrett, Jesse apparently doesn?t have an issue with proposing. According to Page Six, they got engaged last weekend.
Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons ? who played a married couple on ?Fargo? ? are rumored to be engaged in real life, sources tell Page Six. We hear the pair got engaged over Golden Globes weekend.
Dunst and Plemons were seen kissing at an Emmys after-party for their FX show in September, and they?ve been spotted out together in LA many times since. Plemons? career has been on the rise since he was cast on ?Breaking Bad,? followed by films ?Black Mass? and ?Bridge of Spies.?
The couple?s reps did not get back to us. A rep for the show had no comment.

He?s six years younger than Kiki, by the way. Which isn?t some scandal, I just wanted to make note of it because I used to think they were the same age. In interviews, Kirsten always comes across as someone who has decided she wants to be more ?settled down,? and that she?s absolutely thinking about marriage and babies. Maybe Jesse is too. I hope so, because they seem like a solid couple. Meth Damon found love! Meth Damon put a ring on it!

It makes me sad that Kirsten Dunst didn?t get more attention at the Emmys. Of course, it also makes me sad that Fargo Season 2 didn?t get any attention at the Emmys, because Fargo continues to be one of the best shows on TV. Perhaps Kirsten was always going to lose, or perhaps it was just Sarah Paulson?s year, but I did feel sorry for Kiki. She was great in Fargo and it would have been nice to see her work rewarded. Kirsten wore this figure-hugging Givenchy gown which looks amazing on her. When she came onto the red carpet, people were like ?is she pregnant???? I don?t think so? I think she?s just gained a little weight and it looks great on her, plus she?s always had awful posture. I loved her whole look though.
Robin Wright was nominated for House of Cards and some theorized that she believed she was going to win. She did not. I?m sort of glad because her terrible, customized Reem Acra dress flew under the radar. I can?t believe this was made for her: it?s awful!!! Something nice: her hair looks cute.
Tori Kelly was there to sing the ?In Memoriam? section of the show. She wore this black velvet Paule Ka dress. I get why she went for something heavy and dark, considering why she was there, but I bet she was burning up. That dress is way too heavy for a September awards show in LA.

This is not a case of ?saving the best for last? with the Cannes amfAR coverage. This is the last post of fashion photos from the event, and all of the ladies in this post are wearing Chanel. And every single look is WRONG. Totally and completely wrong. Let?s start with Kirsten Dunst in this Chanel suit. Is it a nice suit? Sure. It would have been great if she was making a court appearance or going to a charity luncheon in Beverly Hills. But this is the amfAR gala! And what?s worse is that for the entire Cannes Film Festival, Kiki has been killing it. She?s been knocking it out of the park on carpet after carpet. This is just wrong.
Juliette Binoche?s Chanel wasn?t completely terrible. It actually looks nice in this photo, although it had some bad angles in other photos.
Vanessa Paradis?s Chanel makes me wonder WTF is going on with Karl Lagerfeld these days. Why is doing these gigantic ?feathered? sleeves? Why isn?t this lined throughout the bodice? Ugh.
Soo Joo Park in Chanel. This is just a negligee! And the mullet is doing her no favors.

Chloe Sevigny didn?t even walk the red carpet, which might mean that she kind of hated her frothy milkmaid dress? Because I hate it.

Kirsten Dunst is a member of this year?s Cannes Film Festival jury, and if her first few looks are any indication, we might be in for a historic fashion run from Kiki. After stunning in her custom-made Dior (in butter yellow) at the photocall yesterday, Dunst wore this striking Gucci gown at the opening night premiere of Caf Society. On another woman, I probably would have hated this. I mean, the dress is basically just a series of giant applique flowers. But on Kiki, it really works.
Here?s a good example of how a floral print can go wrong: this is Frederique Bel and she?s wearing Zuhair Murad Resort 2016. I get the concept of the dress, but at the end of the day, the flowers look too harsh and cartoony.
Naomi Watts in Armani Priv, with a bold, multi-gem statement necklace. I really like the lilac shade on Naomi, and while I will defend her right to wear a colorful and rich-looking necklace, does anyone else think the dress would have been better served with a simple white-diamond necklace?
Susan Sarandon in Saint Laurent. The suit is fine, but I HATE the buttoned-up look on men and women. The only reason to button the top button is if you?re wearing a tie.

At the Golden Globes, I was SO pissed off that Lady Gaga won for American Horror Story: Hotel, mostly because I thought the award belonged to Kirsten Dunst for Fargo. If you haven?t watched Fargo?s second season, you really need to. It was easily the best thing on television in the past few years, and Kiki was doing amazing work on the show. Thankfully, the Critics? Choice righted that wrong last night, when they gave Fargo the miniseries/limited series award and gave Kirsten the Best Actress in a Limited Series award.
Kirsten wore this Chanel dress that was apparently selected for her or designed especially for her by Karl Lagerfeld or something. Kirsten was one of my best-dressed women at the Globes ? her black velvet Valentino is still one of the best things I?ve seen on the red carpet this season ? but she?s not really one of my best-dressed for the Critics? Choice. If anything, this Chanel looks better in photos than it did in motion. It?s not great. It?s not BAD either, but she can and has done better. Also: no Garrett Hedlund last night. Sad.
And here?s another big winner for TV ? Crazy Ex Girlfriend?s Rachel Bloom. Rachel has become the darling of awards shows and you can tell that she?s really, genuinely happy to be included. Rachel wore this simple Alexander McQueen jumpsuit. It?s fine. It?s flattering, it?s simple, it?s okay.
Here?s Maura Tierney is a Max Mara two-piece. This isn?t good, but it does look comfortable.

There was a surprising amount of GOTH DRAMA at the Golden Globes, which pleases the 14-year-old goth girl inside me. For my money, Kirsten Dunst in this Valentino was one of the best of the ?black gown? looks, if not one of the best gowns of the evening overall. This gown could have gone so wrong, but the fit was perfect, her body looked amazing and her styling was completely on-point. She had (arguably) the best smoky eye of the night. God, I really wanted her to win for Fargo. She was amazing in Fargo!!! Also: she had the best accessory with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund!
Emilia Clarke in Valentino, trying to bring the drama and the drama just was not brought. Instead, this whole thing is a f?king mess. It?s actually kind of funny? I mean, she?s wearing a gown that has a buttoned bib/dickie, for goodness sake. Emilia is a tiny woman ? as we?ve seen on Game of Thrones ? and this Valentino makes her look about 30 pounds heavier than she actually is. The built-in sheer cape is also an awful feature, although when I was a 14-year-old goth girl, I would have loved it.
