I don?t know how to feel about this! W Magazine has a new article called ?Paris Hilton Invented Everything You?re Doing in 2017, and She Knows It.? I clicked on it and started reading it, thinking it was going to be a cheeky, vapid take on the life of Paris Hilton. But it?s a real interview, and W Magazine is surprisingly? nice? Like, Paris is 36 years old now and she?s ?serious? and yet she?s the same old Paris. She hasn?t changed that much, it?s the world that has changed around her. Donald Trump is now in the White House and reality stars are the new movie stars and Paris Hilton did it all first. Her life in the early 2000s: ?We started a whole new genre of celebrity that no one had ever seen before…If a beeper had a camera, I would have taken a selfie with it. I think I have a selfie from when I was a little kid, like on a disposable camera.?
Her business: This year, Hilton will release her 23rd perfume since 2004?an estimated $2 billion business, according to Women?s Wear Daily. She?s also currently touring the world as a highly-paid DJ, taking up residence in Ibiza for her ?Foam & Diamonds? night in the months of July and August. Her mother taught her to never talk money, but it?s been reported that Hilton makes approximately $347,000 an hour DJing, or around $1 million a night. Hilton currently has 50 eponymous boutiques carrying her collections of handbags, watches, sunglasses, fragrances and clothing in nearly the same number of countries, reaching as far as the United Arab Emirates and Asia. Plus, her name is now on two hotel properties in the Philippines.
Famous for being famous: In the beginning, she did this all without a publicist, a stylist, glam squad, or social media. ?Nowadays, I feel like it?s so easy becoming famous,? said Hilton, with a shrug. ?Anybody with a phone can do it.?
Her crazy, opulent house: ?It?s my work and I?m proud of it.?
On the Kardashians: “I’ve known the family my whole life. They are all intelligent, beautiful business women and I’m proud of them and the brand they’ve built.?
She?s never broken character: ?I never really do anything out of character,? she said, really trying to think of an instance in which she?d gone rogue recently. Followed by, ?I?m always real.?
Paris?s old style is back and being embraced by a new generation: ?To now see things on the runway, and to see girls wearing things that I used to wear is really cool because nobody really dressed like me back in the day? Young people now see what people wore before and want to bring it back…Being in New York and being a socialite, everybody was always proper and kind of plain, and I always wore these fun outfits. People would send me things or I would go down to 8th Street to Patricia Field?s and Hotel Venus. I was also hanging out with David LaChapelle a lot, so he would introduce me to all these funky designers.?
On reality TV these days: ?Nowadays, everything is just so scripted and fake. Everything is planned out. There?s nothing real, really. I?m glad that I did it in the beginning when it was organic and fun.?
Her business, her brand: ?I want to have something substantial and something that lasts. I?m very blessed that I grew up in a family with amazing mentors and businessmen I really look up to, and can get advice from. It just runs in my blood.?
On the year 2017: ?It?s a totally different vibe. I?m more mature now. I hate when people call me a ?former reality star.? I want to be known for my business and inventing a new wave.?

I came away from this sort of hate-respecting Paris. That?s how much the cultural landscape has shifted, but it?s also a genuine credit to Paris, I have to say. I mean, come on: how did Paris Hilton not end up a cautionary tale? How did she manage to find a way to succeed even after she was dethroned and maligned in pop culture? Even when people said she was over, she wasn?t. She just kept being Paris, kept traveling and selling her brand overseas and kept being famous for being famous, and now she?s like the elder stateswoman of our lurid and self-obsessed pop culture. As I said, I hate-respect it.

When we last checked in on Paris Hilton, she was proudly announcing that she voted for Donald Trump because, in her words, ?I?ve known him since I?m a little girl.? That right there was pretty much Peak America, by the way. In any case, we?ve known exactly what Paris Hilton is for many, many years: an absolute idiot. She?s dumb like a fox in that she was the pioneer famewhore who was famous for nothing, but Paris?s heyday has long since passed and dumb is forever. But to hear Paris tell it, she?s secretly been brilliant this whole time and she was merely playing dumb many years ago and that image just stuck. Yeah. That excuse is older than ?I just seem like a bitch because of the editing.?
Paris Hilton is a name that signifies glitz, money, blonde jokes and, now, a $2 billion empire. That?s right, Hilton reveals to Access Hollywood that she doesn?t want to be known as a ditz anymore. With 17 product lines and 70 overseas stores, she?s built a business empire and is ready for people to recognize it.
?I am a very hardworking businesswoman and entrepreneur, and that?s what I want to be known as now,? shares the hotel heiress. The 35-year-old credits the producers of her breakout reality show The Simple Life with her frivolous persona, explaining, ?They said ?Nicole you play the trouble maker, Paris you play the ditzy airhead.? We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into or what a huge success it would be and that I?d have to continue playing this character for five years. You kind of just get trapped in that character when you have to continue doing it on a TV show,? she says. Despite Hilton?s honest musings around the dumb blond persona, she admits she?s benefited because she ?was in on the joke.?
?I don?t mind because I feel like I really parlayed it into a huge business and it was a lot of fun,? she says. ?I think if I was my serious self on the show it wouldn?t have been such a huge success.?
The show may be gone and she may be past her hard-partying socialite days, but Hilton is still still holds court in the style arena, with fashionistas like Kate Middleton spotted wearing the same dresses she?s donned.
Hilton rewards herself for her hard work with a sparkling rock on her figure, which she dubs her ?good luck diamond.?
She says, ?I feel like I?ve worked really hard so I like to treat myself.?

I do feel like Paris is taking a page out of Donald Trump?s book of just throwing out a number and claiming that?s what she?s worth. In this case, are we just supposed to take her word for it that her ?empire? is worth $2 billion? Because I don?t believe it. I?m sure there are places in the world where Paris?s perfume or whatever still sells, but $2 billion? Nah. As for Paris only playing dumb for her branding? I?ve seen her in interviews. She really is that mind-numbingly stupid. No joke.

It seems like once a year, Paris Hilton buys some new fancy teacup dog breed. No one really knows if these dogs are loved or cared for long-term, but we always seem to know when Paris has just purchased a new puppy, because she takes tons of photos with her ?new toy? and then everyone moves on and I suspect Paris moves on too. In 2014, Paris spent $13,000 on a teacup Pomeranian which she named Prince Hilton the Pom. Last year, she bought two more teacup Pomeranians, although she gave one to her mom. She spent $25,000 last year on those two dogs and she named the one she kept Princess Paris Jr. Well, guess what? Paris got another dog. Another teacup breed, another $8,000 for a toy that Paris will only play with for a few weeks.
Puppy love ain’t cheap for Paris Hilton — not when she’s scooping up 12 ounces of chihuahua for $8k … very delicately, of course. TMZ has learned the 4-month-old pup was delivered to Paris in NYC on Monday from a boutique teacup breeder.
Paris is a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to teacup pooches … she spent $25k on two others over a year ago, and bought a teacup Pomeranian in 2014 for $13k. So, if you’re keeping score at home, that’s about $46k on about 5 pounds worth o’ dogs … in 2 years. We’re told the new dog doesn’t have a name yet. Paris is asking her followers to decide on social media, although she’s partial to London or Ibiza. We’re guessing China’s off her short list.

I actually went to Paris?s Instagram to see how many photos of the dog she had posted, and she?s still looking for names. In one of the latest IGs, she writes: ?Still trying to figure out the perfect name. Deciding between #DiamondBaby or #LoveBug. Thoughts?? Love Bug is far better than Diamond Baby. But really? no. Breeders need to stop selling to Paris Hilton. This is ridiculous. I mean, sure, the dog is super-cute (like, she?s basically a rat but she?s got a sweet face) but enough! What happened to Paris?s other dogs???

?I just love everything about this country,? she yodeled to German-language tabloid Blick. ?The people are so lovely, the food is excellent and the scenery beautiful.?
The hotel heiress already has a long-term D visa, which she received in November, but she?s hoping to get more.
?I want to be Swiss,? she told Blick, but admitted she hasn?t visited many parts of the country.
News of Hilton?s plan to leave the US excited some eager to get rid of the reality TV star.
?Please take her and the Kardashians too,? one commenter wrote on The Local. Another begged local officials: ?Don?t fast-track this one!?

I have a friend who lived in Switzerland for several years and she said that life in Switzerland is very, very particular and it?s almost like everyone is on their best behavior at all times. No one violates the unspoken social order and it?s as if everyone is the tightest of tight-asses. What I?m saying is that Paris Hilton better keep her nose clean if she?s going to be living in Switzerland full time. I suspect that Gross has enough money to ?take care? of most of those petty concerns, but still? I doubt Paris is going to fit in with Swiss society for very long.
