I was going to do another big model-filled Cannes fashion post, but several things happened. One, only the models are even trying to be glam at this moment in Cannes, and even then, half of them are wearing some of the most boring dresses out there. And then the second thing that happened was that Bella Hadid walked the red carpet in this custom Alexandre Vauthier gown and now this is the only dress anyone wants to talk about.
What bugs me is that this was a custom-made piece, which means it was supposed to fit Bella perfectly. And yet there are hundreds of photos of Bella fussing with her gown on the red carpet, adjusting the cups and checking on her biscuit (and it didn?t even matter, she flashed her tiny, built-in thong to everyone on the steps). So while I do think this was a glamorous, sexy look, she sort of ruined it by letting everyone know that she wasn?t comfortable in it. Still, it?s a great color and Bella?s dead-eyed LEG OF DOOM has now overtaken Angelina Jolie?s O.G. Leg of Doom. Also, Bella got bangs and I sort of don?t hate them?
Here are a few more red carpet photos?Jourdan Dunn in Ralph & Russo. I?m surprised Blake Lively didn?t get her hands on this, because it?s SO princessy.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Alexandre Vauthier. Compared to Bella?s gown, this one doesn?t even rate. It?s the wrong shade, it?s too fluffy and it makes a beautiful woman like Rosie looks boring.
Irina Shayk in MiuMiu. This is totally basic in the front, but at least it has an interesting back.

Every Cannes Film Festival, it?s always interesting to see who gets selected by Roberto Cavalli to ?model? his designs on the carpet. This year?s model seems to be Bella Hadid! This is Bella at the opening night premiere of Caf Society. Her Cavalli look is? a basic Cavalli gown. Sparkly, a bit lacy, not all that notable sartorially. Her date was Fawaz Gruosi, which means Bella was there to mostly model De Grisogono jewelry. Hey, it?s a real job!
More photos? I actually love Julianne Moore in this Givenchy Couture gown. This would have been stunning on Cate Blanchett too, but it looks pretty great on Julianne.
Victoria Beckham in her own Victoria Beckham design. What?s the thought on wearing high-fashion pants on the red carpet? I?m okay with it, generally speaking, but I just think these are flat-out terrible pants. The buttons down the crotch? The way the leg is cut? This is awful.
Eva Longoria wore an ivory Pamella Roland Fall 2016 gown. I remember when Eva first started promoting her various beauty contracts at Cannes, years ago. She used to go all-out with giant statement-gowns. Nowadays, she?s more subdued. I like this Roland dress, but it does have a matronly vibe and I could very easily see this on someone much older. Helen Mirren would rock the hell out of this gown.
Lily Donaldson wore a great Saint Laurent gown. Before I saw the ID, I thought ?this reminds me so much of Chloe Sevigny?s famous YSL gown at the Oscars.? So, Saint Laurent is just recycling their old hits.

With the Hadid sisters, I was always a bigger fan of Gigi Hadid rather than Bella. Gigi has the lush ?80s look that I enjoy, and I just think Gigi photographs beautifully. Like, out of all the Insta-models, Gigi is my favorite. But Bella is sort of growing on me. Bella has such a unique look, possibly the product of a bad nose job in her early years, possibly the product of Bella staking out a darker, more goth vibe than Gigi?s blonde-swimsuit-model look. I think this June cover editorial of Bella has just solidified it for me: I think Bella is an interesting model. She?s more interesting than Kendall Jenner and more ?editorial? than Gigi. The cover shot actually gives me strong ?80s supermodel vibes too. These Hadid girls are good with throwback vibes, aren?t they? Anyway, here are some highlights from Gigi?s interview:

Bella almost always has the same vacant expression in every photo. Don?t get me wrong, as I just said: she?s interesting, editorially, but people aren?t necessarily looking at her face, you know? Because she always looks glassy-eyed and bored. And I love ?I used to think about my horses.? Such a rich-girl thing to say.
Bella recently scored her first Vogue cover ? but it was Vogue Turkey. Still, the cover was somewhat decent, go here to see. Bella has also just arrived in the South of France. She?ll be working some of the Cannes red carpets, probably for one or more of her modeling contracts. I hope she delivers some good Cannes fashion!

Making the most of the warm SoCal weather, Bella Hadid sunned her buns by the pool on Sunday (February 7), sporting a very skimpy ensemble.
The 19-year-old up-and-coming model donned a strappy two-piece bikini, though her curvaceous posterior didn?t get much coverage from the 82-degree heat.
Thankfully, Bella decided to post a cheeky snapshot via Instagram, giving her fans a peek at her beautiful backside. Hadid added the caption, ?Back with boy blue @jessejostark happiest.?
