It would have been so weird if Taylor Swift was sitting at home, in her rented New York apartment on Sunday night, watching the VMAs go down. I?ll admit, my mind wandered a few times and I thought, ?Hm, is Taylor reading the tweets right now?? She was like the Ghost of VMAs Past, haunting Madison Square Garden. As it turns out, Taylor was not in New York on Sunday. She flew to Nashville over the weekend, and she reported for jury duty bright and early Monday morning. Seriously! You know how we know? Because the other people in the potential jury pool were tweeting about her and outright tweeting photos of her. So here are a few things I?ve learned.
Taylor votes! I always wondered if Taylor even bothered to vote, but now we know ? she?s registered to vote at her Nashville address. I wonder how many times she?s voted? I?ve voted at my current address for years, and I?ve never been called in for jury duty, ever. I honestly think I never make the cut because of my foreign-sounding name.
Taylor doesn?t ask for special treatment. That we know of! The way it looked on social media, Taylor arrived sans entourage, low-key with little-to-no makeup, and she talked to everyone, took selfies, signed autographs and didn?t seem to ?pull rank? at all. The only thing out-of-the-ordinary was that she did have security guards in the building, but not in the jury selection room.
How does she define herself? During voir dire (where lawyers question jury pool members directly), Taylor was asked what she does for a living. She could have said ?pop star? or ?singer? or ?Professional Snake Emoji.? But she said ?I?m a songwriter.?
She?s not impartial. Per local Nashville media: ?When asked, Swift tells prosecutor she is involved in civil sexual assault case that hasn’t gone to trial yet but says she can be impartial.? That?s the case about a radio host allegedly groping her and she got him fired and now he?s suing her. Apparently, the judge disagreed with Tay-Tay though ? the judge thought her involvement in the lawsuit meant that she could not be impartial, so she was dismissed for cause.
Taylor was dismissed within a few hours. She did her civic duty, she went through several rounds of voir dire, and she was not selected for the trial. What was the trial? It was a case involving multiple charges of rape, aggravated assault and kidnapping. Yikes! I thought it was going to be, like, petty larceny or something.
So, is this just the kind of news cycle Taylor needs? As others have pointed out, many can take a pass on jury duty if they?re busy, and reschedule for another time. Apparently, Taylor was called for jury duty last December, but she couldn?t make it because she was on tour. So did she pick a certain moment when she knew she needed a good new cycle? Hm.

Rihanna and Drake are happening. He wore a tuxedo and proclaimed his love for her on stage at the VMAs on Sunday. She rolled her eyes. He went in for a kiss on the mouth and she gave him her cheek. But seriously? they haven?t left each other?s side since. After years of on-and-off nonsense, Drake finally got his dream girl. The only catch is that Rihanna really doesn?t want this to be official at all. She doesn?t want to be known as Drake?s Girlfriend, even if she is. But I think he?s sort of okay with that too. I mean, he got the girl! He?s fine with it.
These are photos of Drake and Rihanna out last night at Nobu. Keep in mind, they partied all night Sunday and into the wee hours of Monday, then they probably went back to a hotel or apartment, banged like crazy, slept, and then got up to go out to dinner at Nobu. People Magazine had the breakdown of what they did post-VMAs:
After grabbing dinner together at Carbone, where they were joined by Rihanna’s friends and family, the two popped over to Manhattan hotspot Up & Down for a party thrown in her honor by her label Roc Nation.
“They walked in a little after 3 a.m.,” an onlooker tells PEOPLE. “Rihanna had a section by the deejay that was dedicated to her and Drake had one for him, but when they got in they chose to go into his section which was all the way in the back and much more private. They never left each other’s side. He was literally shadowing her every movement and was just so affectionate and adoring the entire night.”
When it came time to toast the lady of the hour, “They celebrated with D’Usse cognac,” says the source. “And at one point they brought out a big bottle of Ace of Spades. They’d made these $1000 bills with Rihanna’s face on it that said ‘United States of Rihanna’ and when the bottle came out they were shooting them into the air!”
With everything going on, the source says Drake still only had eyes for Rihanna. “They were very secluded the whole night. The club usually clears out around 4 a.m. but they were late getting there so they stayed around after it closed and shut it down. And they left together. He was really adoring and cute.”

E! News notes that Rihanna and Drake were ?holding hands when they walked in? to the club. E! also says that Rihanna and Drake only ?seemed like all they cared about was each other? and they ?didn’t leave each other’s side.? See? Now I?m a little bit worried though. This is the kind heavy, open romance that will leave Rihanna looking for an exit. She?s gun-shy about these kinds of serious relationships. I hope she doesn?t dump him again.

Hills alum Stephanie Pratt has gone across the pond, appearing in a few British reality shows, including Celebrity Big Brother and Made in Chelsea. Now, the 30-year-old personality is allowing cameras to follow her as she attempts to find true love.
Stephanie is appearing on the new British show Celebs Go Dating, where celebrities meet with matchmakers and are set up on dates with everyday, non-celebrity folks. I?m not up on my British celebrities, so I had to Google for information about Stephanie?s fellow cast members, who include The Only Way is Essex?s Joey Essex, Charlotte Crosby from MTV?s Geordie Shore (I can only assume she?s the British version of J. Woww) Tyger Drew-Honey (from British sitcom Outnumbered), YouTube prankster Jack Jones and Tattoo Fixers‘ Paisley Billings. From this quick clip, it seems Stephanie is definitely the ?star power? on this show.
While doing press for the series, Stephanie shared her rules of dating, which include being polite (?Manners are huge?), not taking selfies (“Girls should be the only ones taking selfies!”) and having good dental hygiene (“On one date, we sat down to dinner, and he took out his teeth.?) If that last story wasn?t bad enough, Stephanie also shared one of her worst dates, lamenting, “I’ve been robbed on a date by my date. That was cool ?he took my money. Another date, I spent the whole weekend trying to bail him out of jail. It’s been fun!”
Well, it appears I have something in common with Stephanie. I had a guy steal my car and withdraw $750 from my bank account and credit cards back when I was in my 20s. And, guess what? My dating life hasn?t gotten much better since then – and I have found myself single once more. I hope homegirl has better luck than me.
Also, does anyone else think Stephanie might have had a little work done? Her lips certainly look fuller (use this 2010 clip from The Soup, which is the only knowledge I ever had of Stephanie Pratt before today, as comparison.) Don?t get me wrong, she?s an attractive woman, but she really didn?t need any surgical assistance to look better.
