Rose McGowan, 40, has had plastic surgery to the point where she looks like a different person. She’s always said that she had surgery to correct damage from a car accident in 2007 during which she was slashed under her eye when her sunglasses were smashed onto her face. Some people thought that story was fabricated, but even if it happened as she claimed it does look like she did more than just fix that injury. Did she injure her nose too?
Judging from the way McGowan responded to negative comments on Instagram, she’s pretty sensitive about her appearance and whatever it is she had done. She posted this strange selfie which she captioned “Afghanistan.” When people started comparing her to Michael Jackson she went off. I’ll quote US Magazine here because I don’t have the patience to read through tons of Instagram comments:
It all started when the Charmed actress posted a picture of herself wearing sunglasses, with the simple caption, “Afghanistan.” One commenter then wrote, “You look like Michael Jackson,” while another by the name @Katrinabunny commented: “#michaeljackson no more plastic surgery please!”
McGowan immediately replied to the user, writing, “@katrinabunny coming from, ummm, you.” The actress, who got reconstructive surgery after being in a car accident in 2007, went on to write: “Has anyone stopped to think that Michael Jackson used to be black, and tried to turn himself into a white, possibly Irish person with a cleft chin and a tiny nose? I was born Irish. So f–k off losers.”
While some commenters came to McGowan’s defense, the actress was still clearly upset. Wanting to make a point, she posted a side-by-side picture of Michael Jackson before and after his surgeries, with the caption: “Exactly. You dumb f–ks. Eat it.”

Users are now going off on McGowan for disrespecting Michael Jackson. My favorite comment comes from user mary_domino, who writes “she clearly does give plenty of fu*ks about us or she wouldn’t have posted this picture or commented to the fan who started this whole mess in the first place.” Exactly.
I don’t get why celebrities post preening selfies and then get all worked up when people make rude comments. Should people comment like that? No, of course not and I do think there should be more controls in place but that’s just how it is on some of these sites. Twitter and Instagram are free-for-alls. Post to just your friends on Facebook if you don’t want to get trolling comments. Even then there’s no guarantee that people aren’t going to be obnoxious. If you respond to them you’re just going to make it worse.

Rose McGowan moves intuitively around her LA home in this tender portrait by Marlene Marino, shot earlier this year when the photographer captured the American actress for the latest issue of lifestyle title Apartamento. The Brian De Palma and Quentin Tarantino favorite made her name in tongue-in-cheek slasher Scream and supernatural series Charmed, and established her cult status in director Gregg Araki’s 1995 comedy thriller The Doom Generation, which saw the pin-up entangled in a sordid mnage trois. Yet shooting today?s short was a strict case of ?Two?s company.? Having met through director Ridley Scott?s Black Dog Films?set to release McGowan?s directorial debut Dawn?the actress and Marino bonded over a shared attitude towards beauty. ?Marlene and I were just celebrating femininity,? she says of the visceral short that is soundtracked by Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi, who previously scored Shane Meadows? This Is England. ?I think people can rise higher than the consensus of what is considered sexy; our only objective was to do something natural. I didn?t act, I just flowed into it.? Nowness

This was so beautiful that a single tear rolled down my cheek as I rose up from my hiding spot behind Rose McGowan’s bushes.
The video was very illuminating for McGowan as well as she’s recently reclaimed her own ideas of beauty.
What was it like to see yourself in this completely uninhibited state?
Rose McGowan:It was really transformative: it actually made me cry. It was born out of reclaiming my own ideas of what beauty is. I have realized that I don?t have to be bound by the ?rules? here in Los Angeles or Hollywood. It is me, but not an artificial version.

What?s next for you?

First of all, how cute a name is “Davey Detail”? It sounds like a pseudonym, and maybe it is, or a superhero’s administrative assistant sidekick. “Davey Detail, pull up the coordinates to Octomonster’s lair.” Anyway Rose McGowan, 39, and Mr. Detail started dating sometime last year and now they’re engaged. Her publicist confirmed the news, and Rose has been seen out with a ring on her finger. It’s hard to see in the photo above but it looks like a square-cut emerald surrounded by diamonds on a thick gold band. I’m more into platinum and silver rings but I like how substantial it is without looking ostentatious. It’s a nice ring. Here’s more:

The former Charmed star is “happily engaged” to artist Davey Detail, McGowan’s rep confirmed exclusively to E! News Monday.
Detail is a member of the artist collective Cyrcle.
The now betrothed couple started dating last year, making for some adorable red-carpet photo ops, and pics of McGowan wearing a ring on that finger popped up last week.
The actress was previously engaged to Marilyn Manson, whom she broke up with in 2001 due to a “lifestyle difference,” and Robert Rodriguez, who directed her in Grindhouse. She and the filmmaker split up in 2009.

Yes the last guy Rose was engaged to was married with kids when she got with him and she was more than old enough to know better. (He may have been separated, but it was suspicious.) Director Robert Rodriguez helped her career until he couldn’t anymore and then they went their separate ways, probably in that order but not necessarily. Prior to that she was engaged to Marilyn Manson, so she doesn’t really know how to pick them. In any case I hope she’s happy with this guy and that it lasts for her. I’m surprised she’s not with someone higher profile, but maybe she’s just wildly in love and happy. In some of these shots she looks a little toasty too.

Seriously, I am not liking this new haircut from Rose McGowan one bit. I’m hoping she just went blonde for some new movie role, but since I know Rose doesn’t work much anymore, that’s probably just wishful thinking. Rose McGowan dressed as a Russian Ice Queen (?) and Katy Perry looked like she just escaped a child abductor who had her locked in the basement for 5 years. Anziz Ansari was also at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary and for a comedian, his costume was kind of depressing.
