| Mandy Moore won't talk about Ryan Adams: 'he gets off on being talked about' | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Mandy Moore?s long-promised album comes out tomorrow. It?s called Silver Landings and the name signifies how far Mandy has come in the last decade, both personally and professionally. We know now that reason we have not heard much from Mandy in the last 10 years sn because she was being manipulated and held back by her controlling ex, Ryan Adams. In February 2019, Mandy went public with what she endured while under his thumb. After finally liberating herself from that situation, Mandy?s career has re-ignited (This Is Us), she?s able to explore her creativity (Silver Landings) and she?s found love with a person she can trust (husband Taylor Goldsmith). Now that she is completely free from Adams, Mandy wants to distance herself from him both for her well-being and because of the satisfaction he gets from anyone talking about him.
That last album, the folk- and country-inspired ?Amanda Leigh,? came out in 2009 ? also the year she married the musician Ryan Adams. Throughout their relationship, Ms. Moore wrote songs, some with Mr. Adams, for a seventh studio album. Every so often she would share updates with her fans on social media. But nothing was ever released.
?I was so ready. I was so hungry,? Ms. Moore said. At the time, she had no formal representation; she had parted ways with her music manager. Mr. Adams, a prolific solo artist, writer and producer, discouraged her from working with anyone but him on the new album, she said.
As the years went by, Mr. Adams continued to release his own work, and Ms. Moore?s career as a musician stagnated. She began to question her self-worth: ??Am I good enough? What do I bring to the table?? Because if my creative partner and romantic partner can?t even make time or doesn?t want to work with me, where does that leave me??
She and Mr. Adams divorced in 2016, but it would be years until she went public about his treatment of her. And she certainly wouldn?t write about him.
?I?m so done with that person having taken so much of my life and my time,? she said.
Last February, Ms. Moore opened up about her relationship with Mr. Adams in a New York Times investigation of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse allegations against the musician. (Through his lawyer, Mr. Adams denied many of the allegations. After the article?s publication he posted a series of apologies on Twitter ?to anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally.?)
?I was blown out of the water by the information, some of which was in the article and some of which after the fact I found out wasn?t a part of it,? Ms. Moore said, wiping tears from her eyes.
For months after the article?s publication, people reached out to Ms. Moore ? some with their own stories about Mr. Adams and others who had experienced similar treatment in their personal lives. ?Women were, are, so hungry to have this conversation, I think, when it involves emotional and psychological abuse,? she said.
She is proud to have spoken up about her experience. Still, Ms. Moore is reluctant to frame Mr. Adams as the center of ? or even a turning point in ? her story.
?I just don?t want this thing to be about him,? she said, referring to the interview and the article that would come of it. ?He?s taken so much for so long from so many people. I can promise you he gets satisfaction being talked about in any capacity. I just know that about him. I haven?t spoken to him in, I don?t know, two years or something, but just knowing him as well as I know him, he really gets off on being talked about.?
[From NY Times via Lainey Gossip]
It?s criminal how much of her life Adams robbed Mandy of, stifling her creativity as a means of controlling her and letting her believe it was because she wasn?t good enough. I?m sure sharing her story was like a dam breaking within her. I know people like Mandy described, who do ?get off on? anyone talking about them, regardless of what?s being said. Mandy being able to mute the story on him tells me that 1) she?s done the healing she needs to walk away and 2) has reclaimed all her power. Both those things make me very happy for Mandy and I hope she continues to thrive.
I never really followed Mandy?s music career. I knew she was a singer, she just wasn?t in my rotation. Silver Landings is being promoted as a folk album that was inspired from some of her favorite artists like Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne and Warren Zevon. I appreciate folk music and I like all those artists so here?s hoping. Her first single, When I Wasnt Watching, wasn?t bad, although I like the lyrics more than the tune. However, the big takeaway from all Mandy?s interviews over the last few years is that she doesn?t really need our approval, she?s doing this for herself now. Shes not letting someone else dictate when and how she can express herself. In that case, she?s already won everything.

Mandy Moore is having a great couple of years and I, for one, am very happy for her. Obviously, she has her hit show, This Is Us, she married a neat guy, fulfilled her dream to reach basecamp on Mt. Everest and produced new music for the first time in ten years. During that time, Mandy also finally spoke out about the abuse she suffered during her relationship with ex-husband, Ryan Adams. So she?s sorted out many areas of her life that weren?t in order. This, apparently, included her diet. While promoting her partnership with the wellness brand, Nature?s Way, Mandy discussed making significant changes to her diet based on the advice of a functional doctor.
She has a hit show, a happy marriage to Taylor Goldsmith and new music, so it?s no surprise that Mandy Moore is feeling on top of the world.
?I feel so grateful for where I am in my life personally and I feel very fulfilled and very satisfied,? the This Is Us star tells PEOPLE. ?[In our 20s] we all have to suffer through bouts of self-doubts and self-criticism. But none of that matters. All you?re doing is wasting time and energy when you could be pouring it into something way more productive.?
?I feel better at 35 than I did in my 20s. I have a very healthy relationship with my sense of self and with my body,? says the actress.
In addition to changing her mindset, Moore switched up her diet. ?I try to make a good point of knowing what I?m putting in my body because I understand the connection with how I feel,? she says.
?I went to a functional medicine doctor and figured out things that are definitely not making me feel great. Random things like cow?s milk, gluten, salmon, soy and apricots. I took them out of my diet and it?s made a world of difference. I have more energy; I don?t have that fog and my digestive issues have pretty much resolved themselves.?
[From People]
I had to look up what a functional doctor was and learned that a functional doctor practices functional medicine, duh. According to The Institute for Functional Medicine?s website, FM is, ?a systems biology?based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease.? So FM falls under the holistic/alternative medicine approach to health. Doing a quick check internet search, I found that many traditional medicine doctors don?t care for it. The main issue I found for their dismissal is that FM uses unproven theories in their approach. A few major medical organizations have denounced it. However, many practicing FM have medical degrees and their theories are science based so I think FM should be treated as any medical advice ? do your homework before pursuing and a second opinion is always a good idea.
So Im not dismissing Mandy employing a functional doctor to sort herself out, but that diet sounds miserable. It was the apricots that got me. Apricots, specifically apricot jam, is very high on my list of things I love most in the world. I generally have some form of apricots in my home at all times. But I?ve also come clean on how much I resist being told I can?t have something. If I?d been given this advice from a functional doctor, my internet search would have been less ?is functional medicine legitimate? and more ?why are functional doctors so mean to me?? But, it?s working for Mandy so that?s what?s important. Generally, when someone makes significant changes to their diet, they feel different. I?ll be interested in seeing if she sticks with this restrictive nutritional guidelines but it sounds like she?s reaping the benefits for now. However, I guess when Mandy invites me over, it?ll be BYOA (bring your own apricots).

Im going to attempt to include as many Pink and red looks from last night as I can find but Ill surely miss a few. Well have full Emmys fashion coverage this morning and our method is somewhat haphazard. First off heres Mandy Moore in Brandon Maxwell. She combined the trends of giant dresses with reams of fabric with the other big trend, Pink and red. This was a color combination I never anticipated and I dont hate it, I just dont think I could pull it off. That doesnt mean I wont try though. Mandys styling was a bit Valley of The Dolls, as my girl @Kaiser wrote on twitter, but it goes with this dress.
Everyone is talking about how Mandy was twinning with her co-star Susan Kelechi Watson, who was in Rubin Singer. Mandy even posted to Instagram about it. Her gown is just a column dress with puff sleeves, but her styling is lovely. This is Us was nominated in several categories but didnt win in any.

Hey, guess what! We finally got new music from Mandy Moore. I really like Mandy and always have. I don?t even follow her career that closely, she?s just someone that I find myself rooting for every time I see her. Anyway, she teased us that she was recording new music for a while now. It?s been 10 years since she released her last album, Amanda Leigh. Sure we had the Tangled soundtrack and she covered Willin a while back, but yesterday, she released a brand new single that?s all hers. And it has a video to go with it:
I?m happy with it. I always forget how much I like her voice and it?s really strong here. The song itself is fine. The tune isnt all that complex, but I the lyrics are. As we know, Mandy was one of the victims of her ex Ryan Adams. In addition to the emotional manipulation, Ryan sabotaged Mandy?s career as a way to assert his control over her. Not only did he convince her she wasn?t ?a real musician,? he would fall apart if she worked for any real stretch of time, requiring her to come home and see to his needs. In this context, the lyrics from When I Wasn?t Watching take on more weight, ?My favorite version of me disappeared/ Through longer days/ And shorter years,? and ?What I became/ When I wasn?t watching/ A little lost/ A little rough/ I ask myself/ Have you had enough?? It?s powerful, right? And I love that the video has just Mandy in it. Even though Mandy gets all the credit for getting herself back to this place, it?s also nice to know that she made this music with the love and support of her new husband, musician Taylor Goldsmith. She?s in a better place all around.
Shes already tackled Mt. Everest. We can look forward to more music. Plus she has her award-winning show, This Is Us and the film Midway coming out in November, that I am very excited about. So Mandy?s standing tall after taking back her life. Good for her, she?s earned this moment. I hope she enjoys the hell out of it.

Growing up, climbing Mt. Everest was a unit of measurement to explain how impossible a task was. So I was stunned to find out that Mandy Moore just did it! Not to the summit (29,029 feet above sea level), but to the Everest Base Camp (17,600 feet). I?m only specifying that because Mandy did on her Instagram so as not to take away from those who make it to the summit. Since the closest I?ll ever come to conquering Everest is looking at Mandy?s Instagram photos of it, I?m going to be impressed regardless of how far she went up. Here?s the photo she posted to commemorate her climb:

| Mandy Moore on her marriage to Ryan Adams: 'I was living my life for him' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Last week, the New York Times did an in-depth story about Ryan Adams? history of sexual harassment, creepy sexual manipulation, and emotional/psychological abuse of women in his orbit. Ryan?s ex-wife Mandy Moore was interviewed by the Times, and it seemed cathartic on her part, to finally come clean about her years with Ryan and how awful he was to her. This feels like an extension of the conversations we?ve had about #MeToo there are conversations about sexual assault and rape and harassment, but there are also stories of intimate-partner abuse that don?t leave physical scars. Women need to be able to tell those stories too. Mandy sat down with Marc Maron?s WTF podcast and she spoke with more depth about what her marriage was like, and how she basically had to give up everything to ?take care? of Ryan. That?s a pretty classic manipulation.
On her marriage: ?I was living my life for him? being the mother? It?s an entirely unhealthy dynamic,? More said with a sigh. ?I had no sense of self? I was so small.?
When she knew it wasn?t working: Moore said she knew the marriage was not working when she felt she was ?drowning?.It was so untenable and unsustainable and it was so lonely. I was so sad. I was so lonely with him. I knew this was not the person I was meant to be with.?
Putting her career on hold for his needs: She explained she knew their marriage couldn?t ?sustain itself? if she focused on work full time. ?I would do little jobs ? it?s not like I completely stopped working,? Moore said. ?But it would become abundantly clear while I was working, things would completely fall apart at home. I couldn?t do my job because there was a constant stream of trying to pay attention to this person who needed me and wouldn?t let me do anything else.?
Post-divorce: ?Six months later, I got This Is Us.?
[From People]
She spent six years that way, taking care of him, mothering him, putting her wants and needs and career on hold to satisfy him. So many women are taught to do that, we?re taught that marriages should function that way, that it?s not about our needs, it?s about HIS needs and we?re there to serve him. That?s even doubly so when the man is perceived as some kind of genius, or some kind of ?name.? That?s part of the manipulation too: I?m the only one who can soothe and take care of this difficult, struggling genius, and his work is a reflection on how well I take care of him.

Some of you suggested that my Saoirse Ronan post about her dog Fran was a bit light on dog photos. Well, because I love you all, I plan to correct that egregious error below! Before that, however, we all need to release a collective, ?Aaaaaaaaaaaw,? for Mandy Moore?s precious pooch, Jackson, who spent the last two days recovering from stomach surgery after he decided to snack on a tennis ball. Mandy posted this to her Instagram on Wednesday:

Thank you to Dr Storm and the entire staff at #metropolitananimalspecialtyhospital for saving this gentleman?s life. Somehow he decided to shred and eat a tennis ball without us knowing so we ended up at their door at 3:30 am for Jackson to have emergency surgery. What these doctors, nurses and caregivers do all day, EVERY day will never cease to amaze me. So much gratitude.

| Mandy Moore in Ralph Lauren at the SAG Awards: perfect or poorly cut? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz and Susan Kelechi Watson from This is Us all had on shades of cobalt at the SAGs last night. Mandy was the best dressed, in my opinion, in this sequin Ralph Lauren slip dress with spaghetti straps. From some angles I didn?t like this and thought it fit her oddly but when I had a chance to see it on camera I loved it. The color is amazing.
This is Us won for Ensemble in a Drama Series and Sterling K Brown won for Male Actor in a Drama Series.
In contrast, Chrissy Metz was in a very fug tiered ruffled Kate Spade gown with clusters of flowers on the sleeve and coming down her boob area. Metz has worn some really lovely gowns on the red carpet. It’s not an issue of her size or her taste, this is just a lousy dress. She should work with a designer like Christian Siriano or Tadashi Shoji.
Susan Kelechi Watson is in Rubin Singer, in a gown that looks like so many others we’ve seen on the red carpet. That said, the detailing on this is exquisite and it fits her like a glove. She looks incredible.
I’m including Glow’s Betty Gilpin, in an impressing deep green spaghetti strap Rodarte featuring a lace belt that just cinched her figure. It flattered her perfectly. Over the weekend I watched the first episode of American Gods, which features Gilpin. It didn’t pull me in enough to want to finish the series but I like her so much as an actres. She has range.

It’s almost fall and almost time for the return of one of my favorite shows, NBC’s This is Us. Mandy Moore and her co-stars are in the process of filming new episodes, but we may get even more Mandy in the coming months, as she plans on heading to the recording studio. She released her last album, Amanda Leigh, back in 2009.
The 33-year-old actress, who had quite a few hits in the heyday of the teen pop divas (like Britney, Jessica and Christina), plays an aspiring singer on This is Us. She recently told PEOPLE Magazine that she, like her TV counterpart, wants to spread her wings and share her songs with us, admitting ?I want to return to music. I don?t have a record label, but I have a lot of music written. Next year, I?ve decided I?m putting it out there!? She went on to say that she has been composing during her down time while filming her TV series.
Mandy also chatted music with CBS News. When asked if she felt her sound has changed since her pop idol days, she said:
I feel very lucky with my job right now. I get to incorporate music into my work on the show and that lit a fire in me again to go back and rediscover how much I miss music, so I’m hoping one of my goals and one of the adventures I have planned in the next 12 months is to find my way back to music somehow, because I miss being on stage. I miss the rush of adrenaline. I’m not sure how my sound will be different. It will certainly be different from 15-year-old, pop-singing Mandy. That’s not really my cup of tea anymore. I think it will be really reflective of my life right now and the kind of music that I gravitate toward and love.
[From CBS News]
And, if music and This is Us wasn’t enough, there has been talk of Mandy’s possible appearance in Princess Diaries 3. She has expressed interest in returning as her character Lana, who was the mean girl to Anne Hathaway’s Mia. She told Cosmopolitan she would like to make a quick cameo, adding, “I would like to see this woman evolve. If I’m going to be involved, I would be down for a cameo ? maybe she could make amends with Mia and apologize for being a bully when she was younger. She was insecure, going through a difficult time in her life and [has now] reflected on why that wasn’t okay.”
I think it’s exciting that Mandy wants to record some new music. I’ve worn out my Center Stage soundtrack, because I love “I Wanna Be with You.” As long as it doesn’t interfere with This is Us, you do you, Mandy.
