Katy Perry is the December girl for Harper?s Bazaar. Now? I don?t really like Katy. I think she?s supremely untalented, and I can?t stand her current styling incarnation. How she rates a Harper?s Bazaar cover, I have no idea, especially the December issue - one of the biggest of the year. To make matters worse, I?m not even sure I would have known this cover was Katy unless the email from Bazaar hadn?t lead off with it. They did some crazy ?Shopping to her face. Ugh. The interview isn?t much better - the full piece is here, and here are some highlights:
On copying Dita Von Teese: “I have multipersonality disorder?in a very good way, of course?when it comes to my fashion choices,” she says of her ability to slip from party girl to polish. “When I first started playing around with my look, it was more of a Dita Von Teese pinup thing.” But the burlesque look is too high maintenance. “Dita’s really dedicated,” she says.
On her husband, Russell Brand and his spiritual quest: ?I always knew I wanted a great man of God, someone who was going to be an inspiration for people and also be a lovely husband and father,? she says. ?We?re at different places in our lives, but we can still grow together. He?s thought-provoking, articulate, a real advocate. I also definitely wanted to have a laugh. I have all that in him.?
On her competition: She is part of a new wave of pop stars?among them, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Fergie? but her fellow quick-change artists are more sisters than competitors: ?We?re all unique. That?s why we all win and we all can exist. People don?t want just vanilla. They want 31 flavors. I couldn?t do what Rihanna does. I couldn?t do what Gaga does. They can?t do what I do.?
On her image: ?I?m kind of a good girl?and I?m not,? she says. ?I?m a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity, and respect. I?m a bad girl because I like to tease. I know that I have sex appeal in my deck of cards. But I like to get people thinking. That?s what the stories in my music do.?
On body image and fashion: Her particular flavor tends toward the saucy. “I’ll tell you about my boobs and fashion,” she says. “It can be hard to wear those looks”?like the ones shown here?”because they’re best on people who have no curves or thighs. I don’t have a Kate Moss body, but I’m very proud and happy with mine.” Yet, at 13, she pined for a breast reduction. “I had really bad back problems and was a little bit thicker. Then I grew up and lost the baby fat and said, ‘Hey, this isn’t all that bad.’”
On the Sesame Street controversy: “If there had been a problem on the set, they would have said it to me at the outset. We had many different options.” She came back with a sketch on Saturday Night Live in which she squeezed into a red Elmo T-shirt, the neckline slashed to showcase what all the fuss was about. “How do you respond otherwise?”

I guess the most notable part is where she refers to Brand as a ?great man of God, someone who was going to be an inspiration for people and also be a lovely husband and father.? I mean? God. I hope she doesn?t really feel that way, because I have a horrible premonition that (gasp) her marriage isn?t going to last because she?ll walk into their home one day and find Russell in bed with a blonde, a brunette and a mountain goat.

Can you imagine being on your honeymoon with your new husband Russell Brand? Okay, let?s start smaller: can you imagine having sex with Brand? Chances are pretty good that at least a few of you commenters already had sex with him, so let?s start it there. Let?s say you had sex with Brand, the ?Shagger of the Decade?, and you fell in love. Let?s say he took you to India and proposed. Let?s say you eventually married in India, and now you?re on your honeymoon. Once there, once you are finally officially hitched and The Shagger of the Decade is your lover for life? wouldn?t that alone seem like a come-down? I?ll admit, Brand seems like he would be fun in bed. But he?s not husband material. Thankfully, Katy Perry isn?t really wife material, so I?ll imagine they can make it work for a year or two. Or maybe less, if the honeymoon is any indication. Radar reports that Katy and Russell?s honeymoon is like something out of a Doris Day comedy - what with Katy refusing to ?consummate? their marriage because of a rash. That?s seriously the plot of a Doris Day movie.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s honeymoon in the Maldives didn’t go exactly as planned, RadarOnline.com has learned, as the new bride was bitten by a spider their first day there, dampening the mood for the newlyweds.
Brand and Perry had refrained from having sex for a month prior to their wedding in India last week, according to the Australian magazine Grazia. After a spider bit Perry shortly after the pair arrived in the Maldives, the I Kissed A Girl singer developed a nasty rash on her legs, which led to her taking a medication that left her tired, drowsy and unable to consummate the marriage.
Grazia magazine also reports Perry, 26, and Brand, 35, spent their honeymoon at the Soneva Fushi resort in the Maldives, a nation of tiny islands in the Indian Ocean that boasts some of the world’s most gorgeous resorts.
The Get Him To The Greek star chose the secluded, $8000-a-night location because it’s ?paparazzi proof,” according to the magazine. Other celebs who have frequented the island retreat include Madonna, Paul McCartney and Tom Cruise.

I wonder what the ?nasty rash? is? It could be something from the plant life, an allergy she didn?t know she had, something like that. But in the Doris Day movie, it was psychosomatic - in Touch of Mink, Doris breaks out in hives whenever she?s in a hotel room with a man.
So? I give it another week until Brand is boning other women, basically.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s wedding is happening this weekend in India. It seems like it’s very sudden, but it’s been in the works for a while, with Katy joking this spring that Russell was planning everything and had turned into a “Bridezilla.” They have either four or six days of festivities planned (reports vary) for their 75 guests, who are being flown in for their wedding this Saturday at a palace in the state of Rajasthan, India. Guests are staying at a luxury wildlife resort and several hotels nearby. US Weekly has some details in their print edition, and the Indian press has more.
Sources tell US Brand will ride into his ceremony on a horse, flanked by camels and elephants, during the processional at a palace in Rajasthan, India, where he proposed last New Year’s Eve. And Perry, for her part, will have a rotating bridal wardrobe from designers including Zuhair Murad and Donna Mizani. Needless to say, the Brands-to-be have spared no expense, flying nearly 75 guests in for the six-day extravaganza, which will feature folk dancers and fireworks. “It’s costing them hundreds of thousands of dollars,” the insider says. - US Magazine, print edition, November 1, 2010
Suddenly… [a] luxury jungle retreat in Ranthambore has turned into a fortress with private security personnel cordoning off the whole area. All the entrances to the resort have been blocked. It was all for international celebrity couple Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s big fat wedding.
Sources said that Katy Perry and Russell Brand have arrived Rathambore for their much-awaited wedding this weekend, October 23. The wedding will [be] a four-day-affair from 23rd to 26th October.
Several hotels in Rathambore have been booked for the guests, who are expected to come for the wedding ceremony. The safari ride at the Rathambore National Park is expected to increase in the next couple of days with guests started pouring in. it is said that the locals have been asked not share the details of the wedding to the media. - OneIndia

According to the resort’s website (which I’m not naming but it’s easy enough to find) they have 10 luxury tents that cost around $875 a night. It sounds like a very lavish expensive wedding that will be a ton of fun. I’m looking forward to seeing the inevitable photos, the sale of which will undoubtedly help defray some of the costs.
I wrote all that up when I noticed that Katy tweeted that she was hoping for privacy for her wedding. She wrote “Greatest gift u can give us is respect & ? during this private X. No use wasting ur X w/ STOLEN or FALSE info. Thnku for this.” I’ve redacted the name of one of the resorts where they’re staying and have not included the name of the rumored palace where they’ll be married, but I’m not going to scrap this whole story at this point. Does that mean Katy isn’t going to sell the pictures? Because I’m betting she will.

They certainly have their own way of doing things, but Katy Perry and Russell Brand will be well-behaved when it comes to their upcoming wedding.
The ?Get Him to the Greek? star told the New York Times, "We just love each other and we want to get married in front of our friends and family and keep it very normal."
Although the wedding is said to be a super-luxe, six day bash in India, Brand revealed, "It ain't about selling the pictures, it ain't about doing no pre-nup, it's just a normal thing."
Of the rumored October 23 ceremony, Russell stayed quite mum about it, telling, "I'm trying to preserve it, to keep it a beautiful thing. I think people get the wrong idea on how we want the wedding to play out. Love between two people is one of the most spectacular yet ordinary thing in the world."

Halloween is just around the corner, and Selena Gomez has already selected her costume for the holiday festivities.
The ?Wizards of Waverly Place? called in to Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM radio show to announce that she?ll be going as Katy Perry.
Selena explained, "I went to Katy's Perry's concert last night so I got my costume idea. She wore this really pretty Pink dress with sparkly shoes and my friend was wearing a Pink wig. It's piecing together I'm pretty excited!"
As for her recent suggestion to Justin Bieber to cut his hair, Selena clarified, "Whenever I hang out with him he is doing that thing where he flips his hair back. I was just trying to protect Justin. I don't want him to hurt his neck because I love him."

Plugging away at her hectic schedule, Katy Perry was spotted ahead of a concert in Warsaw, Poland on Tuesday (October 5).
The ?California Gurls? gal was dolled up and ready to go as she stepped out of a chauffeured van just before heading inside the venue to warm up.
In other news, Ms Perry recently divulged how she would like to be cremated when she dies.
During an interview in Germany, the silly-hearted singer told, "I would like to be put in a firework and shot across the Santa Barbara ocean as my last hurrah!"

You know how Rihanna and Katy Perry are close friends, right? They?ve been tight for a few years, even performing together at some concerts. Rihanna even hosted Katy?s bachelorette party. Anyway, Rihanna was being interviewed in England, and she kind of gave a smack-down to Katy. Except not really? you decide:
Just because Rihanna is friends with Katy Perry, that doesn’t mean she has to like her music. And it turns out she really doesn’t.
In a recent interview with BBC’s Radio 1 about her new album, “Loud,” the 22-year-old singer slammed Perry’s chart-topping bubblegum pop.
“I didn’t want the generic pop record that Ke$sha or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry would do,” she said, according to RadarOnline.com. “Every song was tailored to me.”
The blunt statement comes as a shock after the “Only Girl (In the World)” singer recently threw a bachelorette party for her “generic pop” buddy.
The “California Gurls” singer and Rihanna celebrated Perry?s upcoming nuptials at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel on Sept. 18. The duo was photographed attended the Cirque Du Soleil’s “KA” show at MGM Grand Hotel/Casino and later headed over to the Sapphire strip club.

Having a blast as she made an overseas TV appearance, Katy Perry was the musical guest on the 190th "Wetten, dass ...?" show in Munich, Germany on Saturday (October 2).
Getting quite the ovation from the audience at Olympiahalle, the "Teenage Dream" darling dazzled onstage while also taking part in a few skits and a sitdown chat with host Thomas Gottschalk and fellow guest, comedian Michael Mittermeier
The "Wetten, Dass...?" visit comes after Katy was busy the previous evening performing a concert at the "T-Home and T-Mobile Present Katy Perry" event in Budapest, Hungary.
As for what lies ahead, Miss Perry is slated for two more gigs during her European trek on October 5-6 in Warsaw and Vienna, respectively.
