Looking ahead to the Fall 2015 season, Ryan Murphy has big plans for his hit television series ?American Horror Story: Hotel,? including a returning cast member- second season?s Chloe Sevigny!
The ?Glee? mastermind took to his Twitter account to announce, ?Very excited to announce that Chloe Sevigny returns to the AHS family as a series regular on ?AHS: Hotel,?? following previous updates that include additions like Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley and Cheyenne Jackson.
Unfortunately, favorite fixture Jessica Lang announced earlier this month that she will be wrapping things up with the current season ?American Horror Story: Asylum.? "Yes, I'm done. We've had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I've had the opportunity to play. In all the madness, I've loved the writers, my actors, Ryan and the whole, I mean, insanity of it, shooting here, shooting in New Orleans, the stories, everything."

Chloe Sevigny was papped in NYC yesterday wearing a trash-baggy jacket over one of those tank dresses from the 1990s. On anyone else, this outfit would look ridiculous. The jacket remains hideous, but Chloe somehow pulls it off with her effortless, hipster ways. Chloe is one of those celebrities who disappears for months at a time and only gives interviews when she has a project to promote. She’s currently pushing The Cosmopolitans pilot for Amazon. The satirical show is about a group of expat friends living in Paris. Chloe plays a fashion editor.
The last time I spoke of Chloe, she was lamenting the jock takeover of NYC. Now she’s discussing how much she enjoyed filming on location in France. She also speaks out against the horrors of sample sizes. Playing a fashion editor meant wearing designer duds, and Chloe says her wardrobe was filled with size 0 clothing. Chloe is usually a 4 or 6. Talk about discomfort. I’ve cobbled together two interviews, one from Lucky mag and the other from Radio Times. Some highlights:
Her fave travel item: “Lavender oil. I like to put it on the pillow in the aeroplane or the hotel room. It helps me relax, especially when I?m dealing with jetlag.”
Filming in Paris: “I loved being there, and quasi living there. I really like Pre Lachaise. I like cemeteries a lot. I love the gardens. My advice would be to sit down somewhere and people watch. Let yourself go and don?t feel like you have to run around and see everything. Experience it in the non-moving sense.
Her style changed in Paris: “I hear my mother?s voice in my head. She always told me ‘you better dress nicely.’ People treat you better when you?re dressed well. Which is true. I mean, she?s right–it?s really annoying. But if you?re traveling or in a restaurant and you look nice and have a nice bag, you?re treated better than if you look schlubby.”
Sample sizes on set: “It was a bit of a struggle. For me, wardrobe is always a bit of a struggle. They pull samples and then I?m left trying to fit into sample size, which is always a head trip. Instead of going shopping and buying, like, size four or six, I?m trying to squeeze into a zero. And that happens on photo shoots as well and it?s really unfair. I can?t imagine if I were any heavier or a different shape how much more difficult it would be.”
If she was a fashion editor IRL: “Oh, what would my fashion magazine be like?…I think I would have more real girls as models and less of this idea of young and skinny. I think I would have more street style. I always love those pages where they have more girls on the street. I?d have a lot of in-depth articles dealing with women?s heath and women’s issues–a bit like what Sassy magazine did, that kind of trailblazing.”
Her reading material: “I read New York magazine and I read The Atlantic. But I don?t really look at any fashion magazines right now, because as I said before, I?m having a fragile moment. It?s too hard not to compare.”

Chloe’s sample-sized clothing dilemma sounds awful. The wardrobe department had no way of making those clothes larger, so I don’t know how Chloe coped. Model Crystal Renn has advocated for sample sizes to be changed to an 8, which is much more reasonable. It’s possible to alter clothing down a few sizes if necessary (not vice versa). I guess fashion thinks it’s a lot easier for all models and actresses to stop eating than to bother with alterations. What’s sad is that sample sizes were usually a 2 a few years ago. Now they’re a 0. We’re moving backwards on progress of size acceptance, right? Ugh.

Chloe Sevigny has a new Amazon series, The Cosmopolitans, which has a pilot out now. Amazon seeks to do big business against Netflix. I’m skeptical of Amazon’s ability to do all things. Maybe it will work out. I won’t subscribe to Amazon Prime, but that’s okay. Chloe has a Netflix series in the works too. Scandal!
Chloe has a new interview with the Daily Beast. She’s promoting her newly announced Chloe Book, which is a style book that comes out out in 2015 (you can read about it in the full interview). In these excerpts, Chloe’s still a hilariously judgy hipster. She laments all the jocks who have taken over NYC even though she prefers “a macho dude.” These jocks are ruining her vibe, man:
French men vs. American men: “I?ve never dated a French man! I want to be the sexy one. I feel like they do an overtly sexy thing–at least the ones I know–but I?d rather have me be the sexy one. I like more of … a macho dude.”
Her recent move to Brooklyn: “Two weeks ago. I just sold my apartment a year ago. After ten years of living in the East Village, I was on 10th St. between 2nd and 3rd, I was like, ‘Get me the f— out of here.? I was looking around a lot in Manhattan, but the prices were exorbitant. And then I looked in Brooklyn, and I didn?t want to live in ‘hip’ Brooklyn, so I moved out to the dorkiest, hokiest neighborhood–Park Slope–and I?m really feeling the vibes out there. But the flight patterns out there are constant. I?d read a bit about it in the New York Times, but I didn?t realize how bad it was ’til I moved out there–planes constantly buzzing overhead.”
Rumors of bedbugs on the L-train: “On the trendy train?”
The state of NYC: “I?m trying to stay positive. A lot of people are hating on everything that?s going on. But I love New York so much. But walking around the East Village, I just want to cry at the state of it. There are so many f—in’ jocks everywhere! It?s like a frat house everywhere. There are all those terrible bars like The 13th Step, and it’s just spreading over to A and B. I don’t know if it?s a sign of the times, but where are the real weirdos? The real outcasts? They?re a vanishing breed here. Maybe New York isn?t drawing that anymore because it?s too expensive. Vintage clothing shops are sort of a metaphor for the state of New York City, because they’re not ‘vintage,” and they’re expensive as hell now. That?s what I call ‘Fashion Goths.’ You see these kids walking on the street and think, ‘Oh, look at that Goth kid,’ and then you realize it isn’t a Goth kid, it?s just a ‘Fashion Goth’ who?s dressed as a Goth kid. It?s so disparaging.”
On social media: “I?ve never had a Twitter, and my Facebook is private. Maybe I should do a promotional, Instagram-y thing … but I don?t even have an iPhone yet. I have a BlackBerry. I like to evolve with the times, but it just seems like over-sharing. I already have to share too much with all the vampires of the world. I have this girl I?m friends with on Facebook, and even she talks about ‘wanting likes.’ It?s weird that creative minds like hers are striving for this sense of approval, and this dopamine release. It?s really dangerous.”

Chloe is a master shade thrower. She’s so subtle and self-deprecating that you don’t even realize her marvelous insults until a few seconds later. She’s not unnecessarily mean. Chloe tells it like it is. I left out the parts of the interview where Chloe says murderous club kid Michael Alig used to shun her (Chloe later played Alig’s girlfriend in Party Monster). Chloe calls Alig an a-hole and keeps ripping on him. He deserves it.
Chloe also repeats a previous point about how she’ll never regret Brown Bunny. That was the movie where she gave Vincent Gallo a real-life beej, and he spent half the movie on a motorcycle driving into the horizon. The movie was almost universally panned, and I remember stories about Chloe crying at the Cannes premiere. I’m glad she’s recovered from the stigma and doesn’t shy away from answering questions.
Chloe signs off the interview with her usual hipster flourish. She had an appointment at the Apple store to fix her 15-year-old laptop. See, it’s possible to use Apple products without falling into the iCloud trap. Chloe is fabulous.

Here are some photos from Saturday night?s Museum of Contemporary Art gala in LA. The event was pretty well attended, and Bedhead?s covering some additional photos from the event. Let?s start with Chloe Sevigny in this Louis Vuitton ensemble. Um? er? well, I guess she thought she needed to wear LV because Vuitton was the sponsor of the event. But this is a really strange look for a formal event in which most women were wearing gowns or cocktail dresses. That?s my biggest complaint: this doesn?t look appropriate for the event. As for the actual ensemble? please don?t tell me you love that belt. Ugh. I guess my favorite part is the huge LV monogrammed clutch.
Here?s Dita Von Teese in Maria Lucia Hohan. At first I was like, ?Eh, we?ve seen this dress a million different times.? Which is true, we have. But every other time, there?s been illusion netting to keep all of the bits and pieces from falling out ? that?s happening with her cleavage, but not with the sides. That?s her skin you?re seeing. Also: the bust is really weird, right? It?s like there?s some secret molding happening on her breasts.
I don?t really know the deal on Isabel Lucas. Is she a thing? It feels like she?s trying to become the next Kate Bosworth, which seems like she?s setting the bar pretty low. Is that all she wants to be? A sometimes-actress and ?fashion girl?? The dress is Louis Vuitton ? it?s not that bad, but I think it would have been cuter without those budget sequins which are throwing weird lighting effects on her face.
Rachel Zoe in Chanel. This is awful, right? We don?t have to pretend to like it because it?s Chanel. This is awful, immature, unflattering and Rachel?s bangs and terrible too. Also: what?s going on with Rodger? He looks deathly.

Did you see Chloe Sevigny on The Mindy Project? Chloe was on for a few episodes and she was surprisingly great. I remember when she was on Will & Grace too ? Chloe is a surprisingly deft comedienne if she?s given strong writing, and on TMP, they gave her funny lines and she had really sweet chemistry with Chris Messina (she was playing Messina?s ex-wife). Anyway, Chloe is still a thing (yay!) and she still gets acting AND modeling gigs. She?s the current face of Absolut Elyx vodka, and Vulture asked her about her appearance at the Met Gala and about Gwyneth Paltrow?s Goop-hissy about how awful the Gala was this year (pity we couldn’t get Chloe’s comments on Gwyneth’s “I was literally a transvestite” quote). Chloe?s reaction was priceless:
Last night, Chlo Sevigny hosted an event for Absolut Elyx vodka, whose ad campaign she currently fronts. In the spirit of flowing liquor, the Cut asked if she’d ever given a drunk interview, la Gwyneth Paltrow last week. “I always say something I wish I hadn?t, almost every time I interview, so I generally try not to drink too much at press events,” she said.
As for Paltrow’s recent Met Gala tirade, she could sympathize: ?Maybe her sleeves were too tight. If you?re in a dress where you can?t breathe, then you?re not comfortable. I found that out the hard way after going five or six times. It’s more important to be really comfortable in your dress. That was a big thing with Proenza Schouler, they made my dress this year. I said, ‘I have to be able to lift my arms and move them around.’?
?I think it depends on what table you?re at, and who you?re with, and obviously your attitude. But it?s a lot of hoopla over not a lot. Everybody thinks it?s so much pressure, and you do the carpet and it?s such a big deal, and it?s just a museum fund-raiser, you know? But you have to wear comfortable shoes and an outfit you can be okay in.?

Is this shade or sympathy? I think it?s shade wrapped in faux sympathy. I think this was the equivalent of Chloe saying, ?Oh, poor little thing, you’re so uncomfortable and you’re whining about something that really doesn?t matter.? LaineyGossip covered this yesterday and she said that Chloe and Goop have never clashed before, but a long time ago, Chloe shaded Gwyneth HARD. It made such an impression on me, I went and dug up the old magazine. It was in a 2001 Harper?s Bazaar interview, and Chloe?s shade was even more perfect than ?maybe her sleeves were too tight.? Behold:
?I used to be really addicted to the fashion magazines,? Sevigny says with a weary tone, ?and I think I?m pretty schooled as far as the designers go, but I don?t study fashion. I don?t think it?s worth studying??
?Fashion is just there.? She?s sipping dry white wine and smoking Parliaments, both in steady succession.
?Carolyn Bessette always looked so elegant ? and like Gwyneth Paltrow wishes,? Sevigny continues. ?Carolyn Bessette always looked so clean and, like, not forced. I mean, it wasn?t as if she was wearing Calvin Klein ? she was wearing Yohji Yamamamoto and offbeat things, but she looked amazing in them.?
?She was so consistent, whereas Gwyneth will one day look this way and the next day look completely different.? She laughs ? which comes as a kind of shock. It sounds like a blender on a high speed. ?Actually I really feel for Gwyneth,? she says, ?because how much pressure does she have to look good every time she goes out? they?re going to rip her apart if she looks bad and they?re gonna rip her apart if she looks good.?

Now THAT is some beautiful shade right there. There?s just so much pity and contempt. Poor Gwyneth wishes she could look as beautiful as the late Carolyn Bessette. Poor Gwyneth feels so much pressure. Poor Gwyneth should be more consistent. Sorry, I just loved that interview and I?ve always wanted to use those quotes!

Chloe Sevigny covers the new issue of Out Magazine. Believe it or not, Chloe is not the Poster Girl for all things LGBT ? that always surprises me, actually. I always associate her with all things LGBT-friendly, but she?s pissed off the gay community several times now. So the first part of her Out interview is almost terse, like she?s waiting for the other shoe to drop. Then she loosens up and starts talking. Chloe is being interviewed because she has a new show on British television called Hit & Miss. She plays? wait for it? a transgender hit woman (formally a man) who finds out she fathered a son before she had the operation. The boy?s mother has died, so Chloe (the boy?s father) has to raise him. All while being a hit-woman. Here’s the thing – I think I could handle the story without the whole “hit woman” plot line. Chloe was concerned about her transgender character: For her role in Hit & Miss, Sevigny went through firearms training, accent coaching, and kickboxing lessons, but mastering those wasn?t the things that troubled her. ?I was worried people would be angry that they didn?t cast a real person who was transitioning. I asked why they didn?t, and the producers said they didn?t find the right person. It?s a big responsibility toward that community, and I wanted to do them right.?
She got in trouble for saying ?tranny? in the past: ?I didn?t know you weren?t supposed to use that word,? she says now. ?There are all these tenses too. Look, it?s a complex process to go through, and it?s a complex thing to talk about. I?m still not even sure if I?m doing it right, and I really don?t want to offend anyone.? She continues, ?I?m just so sensitive these days. I?ve gotten in so much trouble. I?ve gotten emails from the GLAAD people.?
She wears a prosthetic penis in the TV show: ?Being around the men on set, being naked, and having that on, I just felt insecure and uncomfortable. Plus the process to put it on was very involved. I had to shave myself, it?s glued on, painted, like any prosthetic. It?s not fun to have someone right up in your private parts,? she deadpans before letting out her hooting laugh, a signature Chlo-ism. ?I think the root of why I was so upset with having it on was that I wasn?t fully trusting of the producers and directors,? she admits. ?Now I can rest assured, because I?ve seen it, and it?s not gratuitous. It shouldn?t be a show about a f–king penis.??
Does she see herself as a gay icon? Sevigny rolls her eyes. ?What does being a gay icon even mean?? she challenges.
Giving Vincent Gallo a beej on camera: ?People expect me to say I regret Brown Bunny, but I won?t,? she says, referring to the 2003 film that climaxed with her giving a bl-wjob to Vincent Gallo.
She?s not into the fashion scene because she?s old: These days, Sevigny seems ambivalent with being on the scene, despite her perennial front-row seat during Fashion Week and appearances at events ranging from Vogue?s swank Met Ball to crowded art openings in Chinatown. She says she prefers to stay at home and invite friends over, avoiding the bar scene. ?I?m 37. What am I going to do there? Meet a husband? Not gonna happen — they?re all 25.?
But she still wants more dresses to choose from: For the British premiere of Hit & Miss she requested about 20 dresses for consideration but received only two. ?Aren?t I one of the top searches on Style.com, for crying out loud?? she says with mock disgust. ?How hard is it to get a f–king dress from Valentino??
She?s not typical Hollywood: ?Hollywood does not know what to do with me,? she says. ?They do not like me. That?s why I end up in these seemingly difficult movies.? These challenges have caused her fans to expect the unexpected from her. ?I know. So boring,? she groans. ?But it?s been a long time, and I?m still here, damn it,? before adding the afterthought: ?Thank God.?

No one wants to dress Chloe! That?s because she?s kind of a trainwreck on the red carpet lately. Like, it?s gotten pretty bad, actually. Which came first, though? Did good designers stop dressing her so she started to look like hell, or did she start to look like hell and good designers stopped dressing her?
But! I do think Chloe is an actress to be admired, because I certainly didn?t expect her to still be working at this point. Not only is she still working ? she?s got the kind of IMDB page that most hipster actresses would kill for. I think Chloe?s career is less about her commitment to independent film, though, and more about what kind of stuff she gets offered. But maybe I should give her more credit. One of my favorite pieces of Hollywood trivia ? Chloe was offered one of the lead roles in I Know What You Did Last Summer. She turned it down!!

She?s no stranger to high fashion modeling, and Chloe Sevigny scored a gig with Miu Miu for their Fall 2012 ad campaign.
The ?Big Love? actress will appear in fashion publications beginning in August, showing off the Italian fashion house?s latest wares.
And this isn?t the first time Chloe has worked her magic for the Miu Miu cameras- she appeared in the brand?s Spring 1996 campaign as well, posing for photographer Juergen Teller.
This time around, Ms. Sevigny worked with Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, showing off the new Fall 2012 lineup.

Chloe Sevigny has been all over the place lately, and I?m sorry I?m only covering photos of her today. Because Chloe Sevigny is a national treasure, truly. I want to believe that Chloe?s style, her ?look? comes with an inherent wink and nudge. I want to believe that Chloe is in on the joke, that she has fun with her style, that she?s not taking any of this seriously. Because if this is really how she pulls it together, if she?s really TRYING to look awesome? well, then that?s a different story. Anyway, these are new photos of Chloe at last night?s HBO premiere of Girls. Can we have a conversation about Chloe?s hair? Because this is not working. It?s not just about the bangs – it?s about EVERYTHING. This is one of the worst haircuts ever. As for Chloe?s dress, it?s Opening Ceremony. It?s pretty ugly, but I could see how it might be kind of cute if Chloe had simply styled it differently.
You know who took the Fug Crown at this HBO event, though? Claire Danes in this hideous Preen dress. How is this NOT some budget disaster made by an 11-year-old who watches too much Project Runway?
And here are some shots of Chloe at a ?Fashion Cares? event last week. Love her lovely drunk-face. LOVE. If anyone else was flashing their bra in a see-through polka-dotted mess of a blouse, I would be gagging. On Chloe, it?s so avant-garde!

She?s always up for a good time, and last night (April 2) Chloe Sevigny attended the Cinema Society/Town & Country/Brooks Brothers screening of ?Damsels in Distress.?
The ?Big Love? babe looked lovely as she arrived at the Tribeca Grand Screening Room in New York City, sporting a leggy blue and green sequined mini dress and short and flirty blonde ?do.
During a recent interview, Chloe took issue with the media critics who have slammed Jennifer Lawrence for being too big to play Katniss in ?The Hunger Games.?
"I think she's a beautiful girl. As far as her weight is concerned outside of that project and if she's right for the character, I think she's a great role model for girls. She's very healthy, all-American. She looks like a volleyball player."
