Good news for you Nashville fans out there, when the show returns after being rescued from cancellation by ABC, stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere will reprise their characters for the show?s fifth season. I, personally, am giddy with excitement.
The show got picked up by CMT (and will also be available on Hulu for my fellow ?cord cutters?) after a successful ?bring back this TV show? social media campaign. Side note: could we try this with The Muppets? According to TV Line, Connie is set to return as country music queen Rayna James and Hayden will be back as her sometime rival, sometime mentee Juliette Barnes. Highlight for a mild spoiler: This likely means that Juliette didn?t die in a plane crash, as was hinted during the show?s 4th season finale and now, she, Avery and baby Cadence can have a happy reunion.
Will Chase, who played Luke Wheeler, won?t be returning, which is sad, but his character wasn?t really doing much. I do think Luke got a raw deal as far as his relationship with Rayna, but now who is going to champion Will Lexington?s music career? It?s also been reported that Aubrey Peeples, who played Layla, is also not returning. No big loss there, her character was awful. Let?s just hope she doesn?t go on to make a sequel to that horrendous Jem movie.
My second favorite actor after Jon Hamm, Charles Esten (DEACON!), Sam Palladio (Gunnar), Jonathan Jackson (Avery), Clare Bowen (Scarlett), Lennon Stella (Maddie), Maisy Stella (a/k/a eternally sad Daphne), and Chris Carmack (Will Lexington, stone cold hottie) are also rumored to return. It?s not Nashville without Deacon. Rayna and Deacon were on slightly shaky ground when the last season ended, I hope they can use the new season to reconcile. Dayna 4-eva.

You guys all know I love this little sexy person, but I don’t know what Carl’s Jr. was thinking when they decided to put this commercial together with Hayden Panettiere. It’s not sexy or appetizing. It just leaves you wanting to go eat at McDonald’s. It’s an ultimate fail! I would have had Hayden in […]

| Hayden Panettiere on PPD: 'The more open I was, the more acceptance I got' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nashville is coming back next week, March 16th. There are four episodes left in this season and we haven’t had an update on this show in three months so I’m really excited to see how they wrap it up. (We don’t know yet if the show has been renewed or canceled and a final decision won’t be made until May.) Star Hayden Panettiere went to rehab last October for postpartum depression about ten months after her first child, daughter Kaya, was born. It was reportedly just a coincidence that Hayden’s character Juliette Barnes was also treated for PPD on the show, and Hayden was open about the fact that she suffered postpartum depression as well. In a new interview with Yahoo! Style, Hayden talks about her treatment for depression, about the freedom and love she felt after disclosing her illness with the public, and how it felt to go back to playing Juliette Barnes. Yahoo! reports that Hayden has been on set since January so I’m assuming that she’s going to be in these new episodes to come:
On discussing her PPD with the press
I was always so terrified that people weren?t going to accept me. I finally just went, I?m tired of living afraid. I?m tired of living in fear of what people are going to think, so, you know, I?m just going to put it all out there on the table and I?m not going to worry about the judgment.
The more open I was, the more acceptance I got from people. I got so much support and so much love. I was floored. I feel much more exposed, yes, but in a great way.
On people who claim PPD is not real
It?s like you have no idea what you?re talking about. If you think for one second that a mother wants to feel that way toward her child, you?re outta your mind. It is one of the most debilitating, scary, guilty feelings that you can ever feel. That a mother would not be able to connect with their child, would not be able to get a grip, or would not know what?s going on, for anybody to say that it?s false or created by us, you must have your head examined.
On having to go back to playing a character with PPD
it?s definitely interesting how much it has mirrored my life. It was strange having to throw myself back into that frame of mind. The way I do things is to pull from my own personal experience and sometimes even turn myself into what I?m portraying so that I can pull from my life and step into that person?s shoes by being able to relate.
What?s that line from The Godfather? ‘Just when I thought I was out… they pull me back in.’ It?s really so true. We all want to feel better about our lives. We like that drama. Those highs and lows and peaks and valleys of life, that?s what keeps us satisfied. That?s what people like to see.

Hayden is an actress whom I’ve seen grow up through the press. She’s 26 now and I’ve been watching her for at least 10 years. It’s been a pleasure to see how she’s matured and I appreciate how genuine and open she is. At the end of the article she says that she’s happy being herself and that “Confidence in doing your own thing is something that I?m learning more and more and more about, and it feels good.” You can sense that in her interviews and in the image she’s putting out. She recently posted these photos with her fiance, boxing great Wladimir Klitschko, and their daughter, on the beach. They look really happy. I hope things are better for her now.

Here is Hayden Panettiere donning Daisy Dukes and flashed a tonne of cleavage as she filmed the new Carl’s Jr commercial.
She flashed her toned and tanned legs all the way down to her cute brown ankle boots.
On top she wore a navy shirt, although it wasn’t very buttoned up; as is the nature of the ads, she kept tonnes of cleavage on display.
I think she’s got perfect curves right now, not too slim, not too big, curves in all the right places.

| Hayden Panettiere on her PPD: 'I am so proud to be a spokesperson' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Mild spoilers for past episodes of Nashville
Hayden Panettiere made her first post treatment red carpet appearance at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, where she was nominated for her work in Nashville. It’s good to see Hayden out and about, particularly because I’ve been missing her on Nashville. They explained her absence by claiming her character was in rehab, and it makes me wonder if they wrote that storyline for her before or after she sought treatment for postpartum depression, not that it matters but I’m genuinely curious. (Outlets did report that her character’s PPD was a coincidence, but I suspect that they sent her character to rehab so that Hayden could break from filming.)
Hayden was honest and outspoken about her postpartum depression before she went into treatment, admitting to multiple outlets that she suffered from it and trying to communicate to other women that they were not alone. In a new interview with ET ahead of the Critics Choice Awards, Hayden said that she was surprised by all the support she’s received after leaving treatment. She also called it “an intense year.”
It’s been an intense year for me. There’s been a lot of things that have changed and that have happened. To be recognized by the critics is just…
You’re a role model for mothers who are getting through ppd… and playing a similar character… what kind of reaction have you gotten?
I’ve gotten an incredible amount of support and I was actually really surprised cause I feel like I grew up in this industry that, in my mind, was very judgmental… people were waiting for me to fall… so putting out something so personal… I was just waiting for it.
I didn’t even look at social media. Then, when I looked, people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, good for you,’ and I am so proud to be a spokesperson [voice rises like it's a question] and a woman that people can look to and to know that they’re not alone and they’re not weak if they go and they seek help.
How is the transition back to work?
To be honest it was kind of a rocky start for me and especially emotionally. The first scene that I did the other day when I saw certain people that I haven’t seen in a while and I felt really comfortable. I just lost it and I couldn’t keep it together. So, it held us up for a second but we got it at the end.
[Quotes from video and text on ETOnline]
Whenever I hear an interview with Hayden, I’m so impressed at how genuine she comes across. She’s a great actress and I’m really looking forward to seeing her back on Nashville. It’s not coming back until March 16th though, which is too bad.
I can’t cover this without reporting that Hayden seems to have new boobs though. I mentioned this yesterday in a fashion post for the Critics’ Choice. However I was looking at other recent photos of Hayden and her chest looks just as big. (See the first photo below.) She got called out by The Enquirer in 2010 for a possible boob job, I was checking our archives and I covered it at the time. (I didn’t like her back then but she’s since grown on me and/or changed.) That’s totally her prerogative if she got another tune up, but I don’t know if I would highlight the work in a revealing dress like she is here. They look really altered, to put it nicely. However she could be using enhancers or she could just be larger up top after having a baby.
Getting back to the topic, I do think she’ll help other women realize that they’re not alone with PPD. It always helps when celebrities speak out on important health topics, particularly mental health because there’s still such a stigma.
Hayden also talked to People Magazine and E! Online and said basically the same thing she told ET, that she’s no longer afraid of what people think and that she “saw how much people rallied behind me when I was honest, and I didn?t know that honesty could be such a gift.” She also says that by being open she hopes to be a role model for her daughter.

OK, so I know I was making fun of the Critics’ Choice Awards earlier, but turns out, they weren’t all bad. Nobody told methey gave an award for the year’s Hottest Little Person! Hayden Panettiere was a guest on Live! With Kelly and Michael yesterday, where she was promoting her show Nashville on ABC. (Season three premiered last week and is waiting for me on the DVR.) Hayden is married to boxing great Wladimir Klitschko, and the couple welcomed a baby daughter, Kaya, last December. During her pregnancy, Hayden was open about her weight gain, even going into the specific numbers of how much she’d gained. Hayden continues to be open about what she went through immediately following her daughter’s birth, and revealed that she suffered from postpartum depression (PPD). Here’s some of what she said on Live!, thanks to E!:
During an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael Monday, the Nashville actress revealed that like her character, Juliette Barnes, she suffered from postpartum depression after the December 2014 birth of her daughter, Kaya Klitschko.
“I can very much relate. It’s something a lot of women experience. When [you are told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child; I want to injure or hurt my child.’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings. Some women do,” Hayden said. “But you don’t realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.”
Regarding the stigma surrounding postpartum depression, Hayden said, “There’s a lot of misunderstanding. There’s a lot of people out there that think that it’s not real, that it’s not true, that it’s something that’s made up in their minds, that ‘Oh, it’s hormones.’ They brush it off. It’s something that’s completely uncontrollable. It’s really painful and it’s really scary and women need a lot of support.”
Hayden, who revealed she hopes to have four kids with fianc Wladimir Klitschko, continued, “Women are amazing. We do something that no man can do on this planet. I mean, we grow a human being in our body!” Speaking of the heavyweight champion, she told the co-hosts, “I would love it if Wlad figured out a way to get pregnant and he could have the baby. We would be going right now, no problem.”
“If he could, would he?” Kelly Ripa asked. “That’s the question.”
“Absolutely. Absolutely,” Hayden assured her. “I asked him this question…He’s going to be like, ‘I can’t believe you told them!’ But when I was pregnant, he did this thing where he would suck in his stomach and then I would put my stomach to his so that he could feel when she was moving?almost like she was in his stomach. He wanted to feel what it was like to have a baby as close to him as it was to me.”
[From E! Online]
That’s a cute story about her husband trying to feel the baby on his own stomach but it feels really personal. I wonder if he’s ok with her sharing it.
It sounds like Hayden’s postpartum depression was relatively mild, but that she’s admitting this and talking about it anyway. That takes a lot of courage and I appreciate how she explains it. She has such a sunny personality that it’s hard to see her as depressed at all. That could just be her public persona, though. Sometimes the people who suffer from depression are the ones we least expect as it can be a hidden illness.
Hayden said something similar in her US Magazine “25 Things You Don’t Know About” piece. She wrote “I suffered a bit of postpartum depression. You?re not alone or crazy, ladies!” Hayden also revealed that, at 5’2? tall (Google has her at 5’0? while People says she’s 5’2?) “I was 110 pounds before pregnancy and 153 pounds by the time I gave birth!” I can relate to crazy pregnancy weight gain and postpartum depression. I don’t see how anyone can be happy after giving birth and then getting woken up randomly every few hours to care for a newborn, but that’s oversimplifying the situation.
Here are some images from Nashville [via Getty]. I didn’t realize that Hayden’s character goes on Regis & Michael too! I will have to watch that episode.
