OMG. OH. MY. GOD. I’m actually stunned. Truly. We joke a lot about Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise and their contracts and contractual negotiations and one of them being an unhinged midge, but SRSLY I can’t believe this is happening. TomKat is over. OVER.
After five years of marriage, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” says Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”
The Rock of Ages star, 49, wed actress Holmes, 33, in an Italian castle in November 2006. They have daughter Suri, 6.
This was Holmes’s first marriage and the third for Cruise, who previously was married to the actresses Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two children, and Mimi Rogers.

After five years of marriage and a Suri Cruise, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce.Looks like her five year beard contract ran out.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” says Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”
No word on what led to the breakup except for rumors of distance or maybe Katie got tired of watching Tom smear bird poop on his face. Hopefully everything will work out for Katie. And by that I mean she shows her boobs again like she did inThe Gift.

Hard at work on his new project, Tom Cruise was spotted filming scenes for ?Jack Reacher? in New York City today (June 12).
The ?Minority Report? stud looked handsome and focused as he worked his magic at the foot of the Empire State Building while fans and shutterbugs looked on from a distance.
Regarding the forthcoming sequel to his hit 1980s flick ?Top Gun,? Tom recently told press he?s keen to get started.
?We?re working on it. I want to get in those jets!? exclaimed Cruise. ?Top Gun 2? will include Tom as well as producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott.

After premiering Rock of Ages in both Los Angeles and London over the past few days, Tom Cruise is back in New York City. You know what that means, right? Soon we’ll receive a blitzkrieg of “loving family man” photos while Tom strategically paps himself with Katie and Suri for days on end to promote his latest movie. It’s a classic Cruise move that never fails to materialize.
At the moment, Cruise has started his paparazzi tango with photos of he and Suri leaving the Greenwich Hotel together, sort of. Suri’s way ahead of dad in these pictures, which could be a good lead in for discussing this story. Quite hilariously, Tom has admitted that Suri got all freaked out whenever she saw him in his Stacee Jaxx hair and makeup, which is Tom’s subtle way of insisting that he doesn’t prance around his own home looking like this or that. Or at least, he never does so when Suri is awake:
To become glam rocker Stacee Jaxx in the film adaptation of Broadway’s Rock of Ages, Tom Cruise spent a lot of time in hair and makeup — and the results terrified his little girl, Suri, 6.
“When I had the eyeliner on and the painted nails, she was a little taken aback by that. She was like, “What is happening to my daddy?’” Cruise, 49, laughed during an interview on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show Monday.
Cruise added that his daughter with wife Katie Holmes, 33, “really likes the singing” in the movie, which also stars Julianne Hough and Russell Brand. “When she shows up on this set … here I am with black nail polish and eyeliner. She just kind of takes it all in.”
Suri’s experience on the Rock of Ages set was much different than on her father’s previous films, including Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Knight and Day.
“I joke with friends because she goes to Kate’s set and there’s hair and makeup, and it’s a very nice set,” Cruise said. “Then Suri comes to my sets and she’s got to wear a hard helmet, there’s explosions going off, Dad’s all bloody and he’s bruised!”

Tom has also taken advantage of this latest round of press (which ain’t over yet by a long shot) to reassure the general public that a Top Gun 2 script is in the works. Further, Tom reminds us that he is a very comedic man who is unimaginably comedic in Rock of Ages:
Cruise’s cameo in Tropic Thunder was the first indication that he had a sense of humor, and he soon began to regain public favor. Starting Friday, the actor has another lighthearted turn in Rock of Ages, a star-studded musical in which Cruise plays debaucherous hair rocker Stacee Jaxx.
The role allows Cruise to show off his comedic side yet again, though the actor insists he?s found humor in his more serious films as well.
“Comedy has always been part of the stuff that I’ve done,” Cruise said Friday evening in Hollywood at the Rock of Ages premiere, which was followed by a concert from ’80s rockers Poison and Def Leppard.
“Even in serious movies or Risky Business– even in Rain Man — there’s different kinds of comedy that you have even within drama.”

So Tom’s character is actually supposed to be funny even though he’s looking oh-so-serious in all of the trailers and stills? The studio certainly isn’t marketing this version of Stacee Jaxx as anything but an unironically stone-cold serious mess. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what audiences think when the film comes out this weekend. Meanwhile, Cruise has also assured NPR that even though he loved playing a(n anti-)sexy rock star, he won’t be quitting his day job. Thank Xenu for that small blessing.
Back to the main part of this story though — can you imagine being on a movie set and having your (exceedingly heterosexual) dad walk up to you looking like this? Poor Suri.

Tom Cruise was surprisingly low-key at the London premiere of Rock of Ages held in Leicester Square yesterday. This is very strange and a sudden departure from his recent display of mania at the LA premiere. I’m almost tempted to believe that it’s like some studio executive said, “Hey short stuff, tone it down. It’s starting to feel all 2005 up in here.” So Tom responded, “Oh yes, I am supposed to be a serious rock star. Thank you for the reminder. Now look at my sexy lifts.” Speaking of Tom’s shoes, he couldn’t really show them off to maximum effect on the black carpet in Los Angeles just a few days ago, but now it’s like he wants you to look at them, right? Just admit it. You can’t stop looking at the lifts.
Indeed, Subdued Tom was very subdued for this London event. How sad.
Julianne Hough wore a little black dress with poufy white sleeves by Valentino. I think the sheer sleeves really ruin the potential of this otherwise simple dress, and she could have “rocked” (ugh) the plunging neckline without such distracting, kleenex-like entities roosting on her shoulders. Julianne’s hair and makeup are also throwing me for a loop, and I think she’d look better with more dramatic makeup for this event.
Malin Ackerman chose an ice-capadey, nude-colored dress with gold leaf embellishments for her premiere look. Obviously, this is a Marchesa creation that is less of a monstrosity than some of their other dresses, but still not a flattering look on anyone. Malin’s hair and makeup here remind me a lot of Kate Bosworth.
Russell Brand was his usual eccentrically dressed self on the yellow carpet. Look, the scarves are back! I so missed those bloody scarves.
Paul Giamatti is totally standing there thinking, “What the f–k am I doing in this movie, anyway?”
Diego Bonita was probably the best-dressed dude in attendance, right? He’s so, so pretty. At least he’s got that going for him.

Honestly, I have dreamed of this moment for various (and completely professional) reasons, but I’m afraid that there is no appropriate reaction to the materialization of the above image. So let’s just talk about it in very casual terms. Tom Cruise covers the June issue of W magazine to promote his role as Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages, which we’ve already seen many glimpses of within its gloriously painful and truly awful trailers. In the past, I haven’t been terribly kind towards Tom’s portrayal of this washed-up rock star, but part of my own reaction is due to the fact that Tom appears to be trying much too hard. Stacee Jaxx is supposed to be a very ironic character, but it seems like Tom is taking the role much too seriously. Perhaps I’m misinterpreting things, so I’ll postpone final judgment on that note until after the film arrives in theaters.
So how about this W magazine cover? Underneath all of that eyeliner, Tom’s eyes look incredibly dead (perhaps Xenu stole them). And those tattoos? There is a gun pointed at his wang. And those chicks? There are two blondes fawning over him. I don’t know if we’re supposed to believe this character is the real deal or if we’re supposed to laugh. As for the inevitable interview, there is only the barest (much like Tom’s chest) excerpt (so far) with which we can play:
“I knew we had to push the sexuality because of the nature of the character and the songs. He’s singing, ‘I want to know what love is.’”

Oh that crazy Tom. He’s always pushing the artistic envelope and always so serious with the dancing and singing 10 hours per day to prepare for the role. But seriously, Tom is a 49-year-old man. If this were a woman, some people would call her pathetic for flaunting her body in such an unironic manner. So should we give Tom a free pass?

Katie Holmes’ love for fug booties knows no boundaries, and she’s wearing them in every one of these photos except for the one above, which was taken at the Vanity Fair Oscar party and was the last time that she and husband Tom Cruise were photographed together. These days, Tom’s been very busy shooting Oblivion in New Orleans, and In Touch reports that Katie is “happy on her own” in New York City while hanging out with Suri. This comes in sharp contrast to last summer when Katie and Suri were in Miami almost the entire time while Tom was filming Rock of Ages. They swam and ate ice cream and watched Tom rock out on a balcony at their hotel. Now? After five years of marriage, Katie is allegedly much happier when overbearing Tom is not underfoot. Did someone have a contract renegotiation?
Katie Holmes used to be a near-constant presence on the sets of Tom Cruise’s films. But while Tom has been in New Orleans for weeks shooting Oblivion, Katie has barely visited her husband.
Holed up in NYC with their daughter, Suri, Katie has been putting distance between herself and her husband, according to the insider. And Tom, 49, will have to get used to it. The insider says that after half a decade as his wife, Katie, 33, is no longer intimidated by him. “Reaching her fifth anniversary gave Katie the confidence to walk away when Tom acts up,” the insider says.
And he’s been acting up a lot lately, putting pressure on Katie to have another baby. Though he’s desperate for them to conceive again before his 50th birthday in July, she has mixed feelings and refuses to give into Tom’s pressure to have another baby. “They’ve been fighting about it for a month now,” the insider reveals. And while Tom has been clearly unhappy, Katie is no longer rushing to his side. “It’s easier for her just to avoid him.”

Meanwhile, In Touch also reports that Tom is feeling very dejected that his wife is no longer doing everything he wants precisely when he wants it, so he’s taking it out on the Oblivion cast and crew:
Tom is not his usual self. Normally friendly Tom has seemed “very, very serious,” says a set insider.
Tom’s acting like a diva. He’s taking out his anger on staffers by making them stay mum while an insider says his co-star Morgan Freeman has no such set rule.
Tom’s Ridiculous Rider:
No talking to Mr. Cruise unless he addresses the cast/crew first.
No cell phones or portable electronic devices with photo capabilities allowed on set (no iPads!)
On-set eating or drinking is only allowed during specified break times.
Tardiness can result in immediate dismissal.

Eh. This sort of on-set behavior isn’t exactly new for Tom. Sure, people tend to describe him as a very friendly guy when he’s “on,” but he’s also known to be something of a Nazi at times. And of course, I’m not drawing an overwrought metaphor but actually talking about Tom’s role as a pseudo-Nazi in Valkyrie, where he was said to have raised a huge stink on set when someone farted during an obligatory moment of silence. Also, banning cell phones and iPads is typical on movie sets these days because studios are very paranoid about internet leakage (as they should be). Is Tom dejected that Katie no longer spends her entire life on his movie sets? Probably, but I doubt he’s taking it out on anyone in a public manner. He’s gotta protect that “nice guy” image.
Still, I tend to think there’s some degree of truth to this story at least as far as Katie relishing her relative independence. Instead of spending months in hotels just to be near Tom for the entire duration that he films a movie, she’s been spending a lot of time alone in New York with Suri. Then she and Suri jetted down to New Orleans (where Oblivion is shooting) for a few days this past weekend. Katie wore her fug boots everywhere, and she looks a bit strained in this photo. Given that Tom is rather manic, he’s probably exhausting to be around on a long-term basis.
In addition, it bears mentioning that Katie and Suri did not travel to New Orleans alone. They made a mini-vacation of it by bringing Katie’s parents along too. In this photo, there’s a real baby in that stroller, and it freaked me out a bit because I was expecting one of Suri’s dollies. Maybe it’s a Scientobot — their models are looking more lifelike every day.
Just a few days ago, Katie was spotted back in Los Angeles wearing white pants and her fug booties. Those shoes will haunt my nightmares tonight.
