She?s no stranger to high-profile awards shows, and earlier tonight (August 29) Jewel was spotted smiling from ear to ear at the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards.
The ?You Were Meant for Me? singer looked dazzling in a strapless Zuhair Murad gown along with a coral-and-diamond cocktail ring by Jacob & Co.
And Jewel wasn?t just in the house as a spectator - she also came to sing during the ?In Memoriam? portion of the show.
She explained, "I sent them a song that I wrote for a friend who had passed away," and it looks like the show?s producers were so impressed they invited her to sing it live.

Making what's shaping into a great night even better, Jewel has been announced as a brand new performer at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Being held at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre on August 29 at 8PM ET on NBC, the "Foolish Games" singer is said to be taking the stage during the in memoriam tribute timeslot.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Jewel will be performing "an acoustic version of the previously unreleased song 'The Shape of You,' which is about the loss of her friend."
As for the Emmy Awards ceremony, the show is being hosted by Jimmy Fallon with stars such as Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, Sofia Vergara, Jon Hamm, Ricky Gervais and Matthew Perry among the presenters.

Contact Music has some quotes from singer Jewel, who was interviewed in the latest issue of Shape on her body image. It’s kind of hearbreaking to hear that Jewel was so affected by press coverage calling her chubby that she once ate a whole cake and then tried to throw it up. She wasn’t successful, and she said that she vowed never to hurt her body to stay thin:
Singer JEWEL was driven to the brink of an eating disorder when she was once labelled “the chubby Renee Zellweger”.
The Who Will Save Your Soul star was horrified when she heard about the nasty nickname during her first few years in the spotlight, and admits the painful jibe left her on the verge of bulimia.
She tells Shape magazine, “My feelings were so hurt by that story, I ended up bingeing on an entire cake. Afterward, I actually tried to throw it all up, but thankfully I couldn’t do it.
“It made me think, ‘I can’t go down this road.’ I had seen so many performers develop eating disorders or try to control their weight with drugs, and I decided I would do no harm to my body.”

The other day I was a restaurant bathroom when I heard the woman next to me go in, throw up quickly, and then come out like nothing was wrong. It was really obvious that it wasn’t morning sickness or food poisoning and I wanted to say something to her but I kept my mouth shut. It probably wouldn’t have helped her anyway.
I have struggled with my weight and am back on track through Weight Watchers now but I can completely relate to eating to cope with problems. I still have a hard time when I’m stressed out as I just want to reach for a high carb snack to cope. It’s hard to replace those habits with healthier ones and it’s easy to fall into a trap where you gain a lot of weight quickly. It’s easy to get started and then eat a lot of calories quickly if you’re in that crazy eating mindset. I want to give Jewel a hug and tell her it will be ok. She seems to have come to terms with whatever she was struggling with, anyway.
Oh have any of you read that new book that Oprah is touting as revolutionary, Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth? I haven’t read the whole thing yet but I did see an excerpt in O! and read the preview on Amazon and found myself relating to a lot of passages. I’m not a spiritual person and it touts that heavily, although there are a lot of lessons to be learned about our emotional reasons for eating. I think whenever we can slow down and question our relationship with food it helps.

This may be the time period she’s talking about as it’s the only time I could find in which she looked even slightly larger than how tiny she is now. She’s lovely and not at all chubby. She?s gearing up for the release of her eighth studio album Sweet and Wild, and this morning (May 25) Jewel was spotted performing live on CBS? ?Early Show.?
The ?You Were Meant for Me? songstress looked beautiful as she strapped on her guitar and sang for the audience as part of the Summer Concert Series in New York City.
During her interview, Jewel told Julie Chen that she loves her musical career morph to the country genre as it?s something that just comes naturally to her.
"I've always been a storyteller, so it's always been about that. And the great thing about the country format -- I'm such a fan -- is I'm excited to be played on the radio stations that I listen to when I get in the car. But the fans really love songwriting and the radio stations do, too. So I actually get asked about lyrics now, which is a dream come true for me."

Now here is something you don’t see everyday! Singer Jewel was spottingshowing off thisnice little bikini at Miami Beach recently. And in addition to the nice bikini, might I add that Jewel’s body is looking pretty good, too. Very good, in fact. In an interview recently, Jewel told press that she feels sorry for the younger generation of performers who have fallen into the drugs and drinking scene. It definitely looks like Jewel is taking care of herself, but here is what she said about some of today’s young celebs:

The “You Were Meant For Me” songstress looked incredible in a purple two-piece bathing suit as she smiled for the paparazzi.
