Yesterday, we discussed how Selena Gomez?s mom kind of threw her under the bus when it comes to Selena?s questionable life decisions. By ?threw her under the bus,? I mostly mean that her mom did that Mom Thing of ?she makes her own decisions, she?s technically an adult, I?m not pulling the strings at this point.? Which I believe is true – Selena is 25 years old. She knows what she?s doing. People just tend to infantilize her because she looks so young and because she was so young when she first became famous. Anyway, apparently Selena?s mom Mandy also had some sh-t to say about the Woody Allen movie Selena worked on last fall. When questioned on Instagram about why she didn?t veto her daughter?s film role, Mandy wrote:
?Sorry, No one can make Selena do anything she doesn?t want to. I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn?t click. Her team are amazing people. There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears.”

Again, it?s not that Mandy is throwing her daughter under the bus. Most moms do this at some point: their babies leave the nest and it?s sink or swim. Selena is 25. She knows what she?s doing, and the fallout is hers to own. Well, Selena and her team want you to know something about that Woody Allen film: Selena, like, totally donated to Time?s Up, okay?
After Timothe Chalamet and Rebecca Hall pledged to donate their salaries from their upcoming Woody Allen film A Rainy Day in New York to Time?s Up and other charitable organizations in wake of the ongoing claims of sexual abuse against the director, some fans criticized costar Selena Gomez for not following suit.
Though Gomez, 25, has yet to make a similar public stand against Allen, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE that she ?made a significant donation anonymously? to the Time?s Up Legal Defense Fund that ?far exceeded her salary for the film.?
On the day the defense fund was announced, Gomez expressed her support for the movement on her Instagram page. ?It?s time to shift the balance in the workplace, from representing the few to representing us all,? she captioned her post, which has received nearly 1.3 million likes.

Rebecca Hall and Timothee Chalamet donated to Time?s Up (Chalamet donated to other charities as well) as part of their public apologies to Dylan Farrow. Their statements were the important part, the fact that they acknowledged that Woody Allen is, at best, problematic AF and at worst a pedophile. Selena is trying to have it both ways – she wants to work on Woody Allen films, not be questioned about why she?s okay with Woody Allen, and she wants ?credit? for her anonymous, large donation to Time?s Up. I mean, good for her for donating to Time?s Up. But I suspect she didn?t do it because she regrets working with Woody Allen.

Selena Gomez is Billboard?s Woman of the Year. One of the best tweets I saw about that announcement was (and I?m paraphrasing) that it?s Peak 2017 to honor Selena Gomez as the Woman of the Year in the same year that Ariana Grande put together a massive charity concert in a matter of, like, one week to honor the victims of a terrorist attack targeting her concertgoers. Like, how was Ariana Grande NOT the Woman of the Year? I?m not even an Ari stan, but Ariana was and is MY Woman of the Year.
Anyway, these are some photos of Selena on the carpet for the event last night. She wore black leather Versace. Her hair is tragic. She was introduced by Elle Fanning, her costar in Woody Allen?s A Rainy Day in New York (sideeye) and she was presented the honor by Francia Raisa, her friend who gave her a kidney. Selena told the audience:
“I feel incredibly lucky. Honestly, I couldn’t be more grateful for the position I’ve been given in my career. I want people to know I respect the platform that I have so deeply. Specifically this year, I would like to thank my amazing team and my family because they stuck with me through some really hard times. I got to do a lot this year, even though I had a couple of other things to do. I’m so grateful for the older women who have lifted all of us up. I don’t know how I’ll ever repay it, but maybe I’ll make an epic album next year.”

I used to really care about Selena Gomez and want her to do well and make good choices. But I?m sort of over her, mostly because of her dumb man drama. She doesn?t make good choices at all. Selena also sat down with Billboard for a cover story/interview, which you can read here. She says little about Justin Bieber (with whom she is definitely back), but here are the most interesting quotes:
Whether Woody Allen?s past gave her pause: ?To be honest, I?m not sure how to answer — not because I?m trying to back away from it. [The Harvey Weinstein allegations] actually happened right after I had started [on the movie]. They popped up in the midst of it. And that?s something, yes, I had to face and discuss. I stepped back and thought, ?Wow, the universe works in interesting ways.?
Whether she feels hopeful or depressed about Sex-Predatorgate 2017: ?I feel all those things. I?ve cried. But I definitely feel hopeful. As people speak out, I hope that feels powerful to them, because they deserve to feel that. I?m fortunate enough not to have experienced some of the traumatic things that other women have had to go through. I?ve known people in my family who?ve gone through those things. I try to let people come to me and open up, to make a safe environment for them to do so.
The best part of being single: ?The best part? It?s actually… you know what, though? Something that I?m really proud of is that there?s such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd]. I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me.
What brought Justin back into her life: ?I?m 25. I?m not 18, or 19, or 20. I cherish people who have really impacted my life. So maybe before, it could have been forcing something that wasn’t right. But that doesn’t mean caring for someone ever goes away. And [that goes for] people in general. I mean, I grew up with Demi [Lovato]. Nick and Joe [Jonas] and Miley [Cyrus] — we?ve gone through seasons in our lives. I don?t think it?s as serious as people make things out to be half the time. It?s just my life. I grew up with all of these people, and it?s so cool to see where everybody is. It comes back to the idea of me remaining full. I think a true representation of love is beyond just yourself.

Selena?s going to need to work on her answers to the Woody Allen questions. I mean, what is she supposed to say though? ?I understand that Woody Allen hired me because I?m 25 years old but I look 14 years old and Woody likes that?? Ew. As for her answer about Bieber? GIRL STOP. Just because you had a lot of drama with a guy when you were 18, doesn?t mean you need to go back to him. It doesn?t mean you have to ?cherish? that drama. He?s a sucky baby and you need to stop backsliding!

Since Taylor Swift is A Whole New Snake this year, she didn?t bother coming out to the AMAs (she did record a message for Diana Ross and that?s it). Taylor didn?t need to come to the AMAs – her album is already the best selling album of 2017 and that?s with barely any promotional stops. So the big-name performer for all of the kids ended up being Selena Gomez. She performed her new single ?Wolves? with an artist/DJ (??) named Marshmello. If that made you feel old, I?m with you. Selena wore Coach on the red carpet, because that?s her big endorsement. I?m sort of fine on the dress. Selena also bleached her hair and this was our first time seeing it. It looks awful! I blame Bieber.
Hailee Steinfeld in Mugler. I like Hailee and I want good things for her. But I also want to sit her down and tell her that she?s better than the ?sexy? thing she?s trying. This look is not great, but she literally performed in a jacket which didn?t cover her hoo-haw and sparkly panties. *shakes fist at kidz today*
Yara Shahidi in Prada. How cute is this? I mean, I would hate this on someone over the age of 25, but on a teenager like Yara, it?s SO cute and refreshing to see someone go for quirky-weirdness rather than bedazzled lingerie, you know? She?s like a little Chloe Sevigny.
I have no idea who Sabrina Carpenter is but I appreciated the fact that she basically just wore an oversized flannel shirt as a dress. This is Missoni.
Kelly Rowland in Galia Lahav. I was trying to picture this without the leg slit. Would it have looked witchy without the slit? And if it did look witchy, why would that be a bad thing?
