Selena Gomez was in Australia recently, lounging in a yacht in her bikini. After some paparazzi shots were posted of her trip, some trolls decided to body shame her, calling her “thick” and speculating that she was pregnant.
Selena, however, wasn’t having it. She posted the following to her Instagram on Monday:
The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails. ??

By now I think everyone understands that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are back together. I don’t even think they’re playing a cat-and-mouse game with the press about it, I think there are a lot of unresolved feelings with their families over their reuniting and they are probably trying to smooth that out before they start walking red carpets together. Just last month, Selena’s mom ran to the press airing probably more than she should have about their relationship. The implication was that her mom has issues with Selena being back with Justin, which I understand. What I didn’t note at the time or since is that we had not had any new Jelena sightings. They went from smooching openly to no photographic evidence of their coupling in a month. And when the photos don’t pop up, the breakup rumors do.
Rest easy, my friends, because Jelena was just spotted together this past week, first attending Justin’s hockey game and then his Hillsong Church. I still have questions about Bieber’s pastor at Hillsong but I have to admit, since his regular attendance there, he has been much more centered and focused on his health (mental and physical). Let’s hope that continues as Selena also needs to focus on her health.
In other Jelena news, Charlie Puth is finally confirming he dated Selena, which I didn’t know we were questioning. I guess there was speculation that the two dated while working on We Don’t Talk Anymore, only they never admitted to it. Now Charlie is telling folks that not only did they date, but Bieber broke them up – and it broke his poor Puth heart.
The only song from Nine Track Mind that Puth says makes the album “bearable” for him is “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” a breathy duet with Selena Gomez. “It’s about a particular moment in my life, when someone very close to me wanted the attention of somebody else. When I found that out and we ended it, I might have done some shady things too, and she might have asked me, ‘How long has this been going on?’” Later, he delves a bit deeper. “I don’t kiss and tell, but the only way a song like that can come across as real is if there’s something else going on behind the scenes,” he says. “And that’s what was happening [with Gomez]. Very short-lived, very small, but very impactful. And it really messed me up. I’m trying to put this the best way possible: It wasn’t like I was the only person on her mind. And I think I knew that going in — what I was getting myself into.”
Puth takes a deep breath and slumps down. “You gather up a bunch of emotion with the life shovel, throw it in the life bucket, mix it up,” he says with a shrug. “And she evoked such good emotion on that song, it was a pleasure working with her. That’s why I’m always happy to sing it, even though it came from a dark point in my life.”

This might explain why Charlie shouted out “F-k you, Justin Bieber” in the middle of performing that song during a Dallas. Charlie apologized for that, saying it was a joke and that he’s a huge Bieber fan, but then deleted the apology tweets.
Note by Celebitchy: After Hecate wrote this, the news came out that Selena just got out of two weeks of treatment for depression and anxiety. A source tells E!:
“She had a difficult year, especially towards the end, and she decided she wanted to spend some time focusing on herself. It was all about wellness and her health. She wanted to get back to a healthy place. She feels great.”

Yesterday, we discussed how Selena Gomez?s mom kind of threw her under the bus when it comes to Selena?s questionable life decisions. By ?threw her under the bus,? I mostly mean that her mom did that Mom Thing of ?she makes her own decisions, she?s technically an adult, I?m not pulling the strings at this point.? Which I believe is true – Selena is 25 years old. She knows what she?s doing. People just tend to infantilize her because she looks so young and because she was so young when she first became famous. Anyway, apparently Selena?s mom Mandy also had some sh-t to say about the Woody Allen movie Selena worked on last fall. When questioned on Instagram about why she didn?t veto her daughter?s film role, Mandy wrote:
?Sorry, No one can make Selena do anything she doesn?t want to. I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn?t click. Her team are amazing people. There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears.”

Again, it?s not that Mandy is throwing her daughter under the bus. Most moms do this at some point: their babies leave the nest and it?s sink or swim. Selena is 25. She knows what she?s doing, and the fallout is hers to own. Well, Selena and her team want you to know something about that Woody Allen film: Selena, like, totally donated to Time?s Up, okay?
After Timothe Chalamet and Rebecca Hall pledged to donate their salaries from their upcoming Woody Allen film A Rainy Day in New York to Time?s Up and other charitable organizations in wake of the ongoing claims of sexual abuse against the director, some fans criticized costar Selena Gomez for not following suit.
Though Gomez, 25, has yet to make a similar public stand against Allen, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE that she ?made a significant donation anonymously? to the Time?s Up Legal Defense Fund that ?far exceeded her salary for the film.?
On the day the defense fund was announced, Gomez expressed her support for the movement on her Instagram page. ?It?s time to shift the balance in the workplace, from representing the few to representing us all,? she captioned her post, which has received nearly 1.3 million likes.

Rebecca Hall and Timothee Chalamet donated to Time?s Up (Chalamet donated to other charities as well) as part of their public apologies to Dylan Farrow. Their statements were the important part, the fact that they acknowledged that Woody Allen is, at best, problematic AF and at worst a pedophile. Selena is trying to have it both ways – she wants to work on Woody Allen films, not be questioned about why she?s okay with Woody Allen, and she wants ?credit? for her anonymous, large donation to Time?s Up. I mean, good for her for donating to Time?s Up. But I suspect she didn?t do it because she regrets working with Woody Allen.
