| Brie Larson dramatically cut her hair & dyed her new pixie cut: unrecognizable? | Added 25 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Brie Larson has had such an odd career. She?s an eccentric person, and I would guess that she?s mostly going on vibes when she chooses projects. She went from smaller roles in TV shows and movies, usually comedies, then dramatically won an Oscar for Room. After her Best Actress Oscar, she tried to do the indie-princess thing, but ended up appearing in King Kong and then, several years later, signed a Marvel contract (to much dismay from the fanboys). Her most recent big project was Lessons in Chemistry for AppleTV+ (she got an Emmy nom). Now she?s going to the stage. She won the lead in a London production of Elektra, the Greek tragedy. She decided to dramatically cut her hair for the role this pixie cut really transforms her face. Suddenly she looks like a young Olivia Colman???
Brie Larson?s bold new haircut is electric. The Captain Marvel star looked almost unrecognizable after she debuted the tightly cropped pixie cut. In a Nov. 25 Instagram post, Brie wrote, ?Elektra is here.?
The 35-year-old is playing the mythological character of Elektra in an upcoming stage production of the same name for a limited run in Brighton, England?s Theatre Royal Jan. 13 through 18 and London?s Duke of York Theater, Jan. 24 through April 12.
The production will be based off classicist Anne Carsons translation of the Sophocles-written Greek tragedy. The synopsis for the play reads: ?Elektra, haunted by her fathers assassination, is consumed by grief; a need for survival; and a thirst for vengeance. When her long lost brother Orestes at last returns, she urges him to a savage and terrifying conclusion but at what cost??
Brie will be joined on stage by actors Stockard Channing, Marime Diouf, Greg Hicks, and Patrick Vaill in the play directed by Daniel Fish.

It?s been years since I read Sophocles, because I was reading the Wiki page for Elektra like ?what??? Maybe I never studied this play. Greek mythology, man. So much fun, such great roles for actors. This sounds like a really interesting career choice for Brie, and I?m sure she?ll enjoy being out of America in the coming months. As for the haircut? as I said, I would not have recognized her whatsoever. I had no idea that she looks so similar to Olivia Colman! It?s not just the haircut the dye job makes Brie look radically different too.

| Brie Larson in Prada at the Met Gala: was she wearing a plant cover? | Added 228 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Prada people have us on our mailing list, so I am definitely biased towards them, but Brie Larsons cool-looking Prada cage gown was one of my favorites. Their promotional email describes it as a pencil dress in orange and copper gradient cloquet featuring embroidered degrad crystals, inspired by the Fall/Winter 2007 collection, paired with a cage dress in lilac crinoline inspired by the Fall/Winter 2024 collection. The look is finished with gold brushed leather sandals and clutch. She looks amazing and Im loving how much shes been owning the red carpet lately. This look reminds me of the little tents you put on plants and flowers so that theyre protected. If thats what they were going for its such a clever interpretation of the theme.

| Brie Larson opens up about trying not to be a people pleaser | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These past 18 months have affected people in profound ways. I?ve discovered things about myself. Really mind-blowing stuff, too. I guess that?s what happens when you get trapped with your own thoughts for such an extended time. Brie Larson sounds like she went through a similar self-discovery. One thing she realized was she needed to stop being such a people pleaser. Brie was a guest on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and she said that even before the lockdown, she realized she needed to curb her obsession with being perceived as nice and learn to confront situations when necessary. However, when Brie tried to describe where she is on that journey, it sounded like she?s still working more in theory than practice.
On learning to confront: The last year-and-a-half or two years, I feel like the universe has confronted me with the need to be able to confront [situations], and confront sooner, and just go, Eh. I dont like that. Ill find that, especially with smaller things, Ill just be like Its just not worth it. And now Im like, you know what?s not worth it? Being uncomfortable and then having resentment and then being weird to somebody forever. Thats not it. Why not just get it over with and say, [That's] not my preference.
On what made up her fear of confrontation: People please motivated mixed with I must be wrong. I dont want to look like a fool for saying something when Im obviously wrong. Its just my opinion. That cant be right.
On accepting things before she?s ready: Theres the intellectual part of me that?s like, yeah of course, love everybody, I get it. But then, like, do I really feel that? Because Ill find myself skipping ahead, like, Well, I know Im wrong, I know I shouldn?t have this resentment or I know I shouldnt feel this way so Im just gonna act like I dont. But it doesn?t really work. That?s just another way of us tricking ourselves into not confronting. We?re like, Im a nice person so Im just gonna be OK with them.
On making excuses not to confront people: One of the last times I had to confront somebody, I put it off for a year or maybe two because I had all these stories: Oh well they?re going through this, theyre going through that and I should be more caring, I should be more this. Then I had this moment where I was like, if we got rid of the stories, then you just confront something and you don?t have all the charge around it because the story isn?t there. So you can just say, Hey this felt kinda s****y or My feelings were hurt or I might be wrong but this is what I got from our last phone call and it made me feel this way. Instead of [having] all this stuff come up that has nothing to do with the simplicity of This is what I felt and being open to how they handle it, which sometimes isn?t good.
[From Yahoo!]
I?ve always liked Brie and I applaud anyone working on improving traits they wrestled with. I think it?s powerful she acknowledges she?s a people pleaser and that it has held her back in some ways. But I had trouble working through some of her answers. It sounds like shes still worried about saying the wrong thing. Which is fine, it?s a process. We didn?t develop these traits overnight; we won?t redefine in that time either. Take for example Bries comments about making up ?stories? about people and why she shouldn?t confront them. Either the person really is ?going through that? or you are making that excuse not to confront them. It?s not a story. But the other part of Brie?s comments about that are valuable. It took me a long time to say, ?I was hurt by your comment,? in a calm way. Since I have, it?s revolutionized my communication.
The article quoted Brie talking about being nice several times. Being perceived as nice is a strong motivator. I?m not a nice person. I?m reliable and supportive. I can be fun and I?ll show up when I?m needed in almost every way, so I think I fit the definition of kind. But I?m not nice nor am I warm or fuzzy and that has isolated me more than anything else. People want nice, even if it?s phony. So I understand Brie?s struggle to give up people pleasing and stand up for herself. And I understand her struggle to discuss it. Everything starts with the decision to do it, so Brie?s already got the biggest hurdle under her belt.

| Brie Larson: 'I don't believe that there is a beauty standard' | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Brie Larson has an interview in W Magazine which is just flat-out spon-con for her new beauty contract with Decorte, a Japanese beauty brand. I don?t really find the spon-con of it all that interesting, but I realize that it?s a multi-billion-dollar global industry, so if you care about which Decorte beauty products she uses, you can read all about it here. I found the other stuff more interesting, where she talks about this strange pandemic year and whether or not there are beauty standards. Some highlights:
Pandemic life: ?In the beginning of the pandemic, it was very easy for me to just work and work through the weekends. Now, I?ve started winding down once the sun starts to set. The sunset has become a cue to myself to say, ?Hey it?s time to wrap things up. I?m not going to keep looking at the news, or keep responding to e-mails?I am going to use this time to wind down.?
Nighttime routines, self-care: ?It is nerve-wracking. I?ve had to learn how to place more boundaries with work and my self-care. It just feels like everything can be so out of whack. As I mentioned, I have started winding down once the sun starts to set. It?s also my cue to start cooking dinner, go into the garden?that?s how it starts. I?ve been burning frankincense in the house too, because it not only smells great, but it?s great for cleansing the air in the house; it?s anti-microbial. I?ve also been trying to watch a movie every night.
She meditates too: ?Sometimes I?ll do some breathing exercises, or I?ll meditate if I?ve had a particularly stressful day. For me, it?s about what can I do that is transitional out of work into decompressing time, because when you?re at home all day I feel it?s very easy to let everything stick and hang on to you. It?s about knowing what?s the routine and what?s the ritual to get out of that.
Even 10 minutes of self-care helps: ?Or even a couple of minutes can help! The thing that I?m learning is that even just washing my face, putting on moisturizer, and doing five minutes of breathing exercises can help. I mean, we?re talking about 10 minutes. Before I used to be like, ?I don?t have time for self-care.? It doesn?t take as long as we think it does. You can do longer forms?of course, I am a big fan of that?but even for people who feel they are too busy, you can take 10 minutes to do great things for the mind and body.
What she would say to young women having a hard time trying to keep up with standards of beauty: ?I don?t believe that there is a beauty standard. I struggled with feeling ugly and like an outcast for so much of my life. And so I really, really feel for that. It took me a long time to be able to be totally comfortable with myself. The thing that has brought me solace is knowing that I can be whoever I want to be with myself. What breaks my heart is to think of people in the world who don?t feel that they have safety within their own bodies. That, to me, is my ultimate goal in life: to do whatever it is that I can so people have the freedom to express themselves and be exactly who it is that they want to be?whatever that is?knowing that that can also change.
[From W Magazine]
Before this interview, I would have said that Brie is probably one of the wokest white celebrities out there, and that she often raises good points in interviews and she uses her privilege for good. But that answer about beauty standards was as tone-deaf as they come! You have brown and black women across the board saying that they feel marginalized by Western beauty standards and Brie saunters along and shrugs, ?That problem doesn?t exist, because even I, an attractive white woman, felt ugly once!? Yikes.
As for what she says about self-care? I mean, she?s right, but I also think ?self care? as a thing/brand/idea is getting a bit too? general or something? At this point, we?re just saying that taking a shower or watching TV is ?self-care.?

| Brie Larson in Celine at the Oscars: perfect and stunning? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Oscar winner Brie Larson was so impressive in a Pink metallic sequin stripe gown Celine with a sleek cape. Everything about this was so impressive and it has a glamorous superhero vibe, which is so suited to her. I love the high leg slit and she is owning this look. Kaiser was tweeting about how amazing Brie looked in this. It shows her figure yet it isnt showing too much skin. This whole look is stunning and shes styled perfectly for it too. Remember when Brie didnt clap for Casey Affleck in 2017 and then talked about it? Shes awesome.
Bries co-presenter Gal Gadot was in a Pink and black Givenchy. This has too much happening with all the ruffles and lace. The top and bottom of the gown look like theyre from two different dresses which have no business being combined into one.

| Brie Larson wore a fug Gucci gown to the LACMA Art + Film gala | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are photos from the 2019 LACMA Art + Film Gala, held Saturday night in LA, obviously. This year?s gala honored Alfonso Cuaron and artist Betye Saar. As always, there was a good turn-out. The gala has become a regular part of the Oscar season, if we?re being honest tons of A-list celebrities come out to be seen and to wear great gowns. Gucci is always one of the big sponsors of the event, so most people just wear Gucci. Here?s Brie Larson in Gucci. Like, I really like Brie and I think she?s super-talented. But is she a fashion girl? Whenever she wears a strong ?look,? I feel like it falls flat. This gown just isn?t right for her.
Naomi Campbell in Atelier Versace. Her body is still so fking crazy. But she?s tweaking her face and that bugs.
Billie Eilish is, as the kids say, a mood.
Zoe Saldana in Gucci. Lord, Gucci gave her the worst dress. Yikes.
Camila Morrone, wearing a bridal sack dress. I actually think this is very pretty and she?s quite beautiful, but yeah, it?s very ?Marry me!?
Jared Leto looking gross AF. He reps Gucci though, that?s why he?s there. He was probably contractually obligated to be there.
Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault. She wore Gucci. I like this? The dress is fine. The hair is rather big, but it fits the simplicity of the dress.
Kiki Layne in Gucci. Architectural hair with a sequined dress? Real question: is the dress ?plain? enough for this hair style? Or is the look too ?busy??

| Brie Larson has talked to Marvel president Kevin Feige about an all-women Marvel movie | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

One of my favorite moments in Avengers: Endgame was *SPOILER* the big battle scene when all the main Marvel female characters assembled and carried the football to the endzone. It was awesome and no one knew it was going to be in the film (my only critique, Pepper Potts should have been in the back. Minor quibble, but still.) But for a lot of us who enjoy watching superhero flicks, those few minutes only whet our appetite. And we aren?t alone, Brie Larson confirmed to Variety that the actresses of the MCU want an all-women superhero film, too, and they?ve gone to the big boss, Kevin Fiege, to see if it can happen.
Long before the women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe joined forces for the epic female scene in ?Avengers: Endgame,? Marvel had expressed interest in an all-women Marvel mashup movie. But after uniting in battle in the finale of ?Endgame,? fans have been asking when they?ll see the female movie hit theaters.
Now, Brie Larson, one of Variety?s Power of Women honorees, confirms that she, along with her Marvel co-stars, have had talks with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about making that film a reality.
During a sit-down interview at her Power of Women cover shoot, Captain Marvel herself was asked if the female film has been ?truly discussed? among the Marvel brass.
?It is something,? she said with a pause, then adding, ?Well what do you mean truly discussed??
Larson was speaking to Variety senior correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister, who followed up with, ?You tell me.?
?I will say that a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, ?We are in this together, we want to do this,? Larson explained. ?What that means, I have no idea. You know, I?m not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we?re really passionate about and we love and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it?ll happen.?
[From Variety]
As I said, I love superhero movies (sorry Marty!), but I didn?t read comics as a kid. So I have no idea what the story for all the women would be. I read some of the A-Force comic books when that came out, but that wouldn?t be a seamless fit for the current Avenger characters. So my hope is that they find a way to make an all-female script work and not just shoehorn it in. I?d go see it anyway because I?m trying to support female led efforts, but I hope I?m entertained by it.
Plus, the men of the MCU seem to support the women. But did this conversation happen? Or, as Elizabeth Wagmeister asked, was it ?truly discussed?? My guess is no. I believe Brie, of course, and I believe she and her female co-stars went to Fiege to let him know they?d like one, but I think that?s as far as it went. I?m sure Fiege wrote it on the whiteboard, but not at the top and probably with a bunch of question marks after it. I won?t be holding my breath. However, I love that the women stood a united front presenting it. I love that they were so excited by their scene that they ran to the boss and said they wanted to do much more of that. The talent is there, if Marvel can put a story together, they?ll make that sucker pop. I hope it happens. Their scene in Endgame was a great moment. I want to feel that again.
