One of my favorite stories I wrote this month was that terrifically stupid post about the live-action Little Mermaid, and how there?s some ?mockery? of the Princess of Wales, aka Kate. Ariel makes a disgusted expression when Prince Eric tries to guess that her name is ?Catherine.? That?s it. That?s the whole ?mockery.? The British media tried to make it sound like it was some kind of huge conspiracy involving the Duchess of Sussex?s many ?Disney connections,? which is weird because I thought the British media believed that Harry and Meghan are deeply unpopular and powerless in LA? Regardless, it looks like The Little Mermaid isn?t the only affront to Keen Kate?s regal jazz hands. There?s also some kind of ?crude and sexual jibe? about Kate in Amazon Prime?s Citadel. You know, the Prime series starring Meghan?s friend Priyanka Chopra.
A big budget thriller starring one of the Duchess of Sussexs best friends makes a crude and sexual jibe about the Princess of Wales. Citadel, which is being screened on streaming giant Amazon Prime, stars Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas who has repeatedly backed Meghan publicly. Ms Chopra Jonas, 41, plays the leading lady, an elite espionage agent Nadia Sinh in the five-part spy action series. And in the third episode, she is involved in a scene with a crime boss named Balduino Basto, portrayed by Sen Monro.
Richard Maddens character Mason Kane goes to see Basto in Morocco under Nadias instructions and she is speaking to him in his ear. Basto is then asked for help to break into the armed forces chiefs office. It prompts him to say: The chief of armed forces? You might as well have asked me how to get between the legs of the Duchess of Cambridge!
Ms Chopra Jonas and the Duchess of Sussex, 41, became friends when they met at an Elle magazine event in 2016 and soon after the Duchess of Sussex interviewed for her blog The Tig, which is no longer in existence. They were also seen at the theatre together on New Yorks Broadway where they were watching musical Hamilton shortly after.
In July 2021, Ms Chopra Jonas appeared to ignore Kate and her husband, Prince William, as they were clapped into the Royal Box at Wimbledon. In a clip which emerged at the time, the Bollywood actress opted to fiddle with her scarf as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took their seats to rapturous applause from the crowd ahead of the Womens Singles Final.

*adjusts pie chart* Ah yes, remember when Priyanka made a point of ignoring Kate at Wimbledon, therefore Meghan clearly ordered Priyanka to order Prime to hire anti-Kate writers and look what happened! A very weird joke using a title Kate doesn?t even use anymore. The Mail also says that this happened in Citadel?s third episode? which apparently was released on May 5th. It took the Mail two weeks to watch the episode, is what I?m saying. While I like Priyanka, it?s not like people are watching or talking about Citadel, so she?s got bigger problems than this. And no, this wasn?t a conspiracy, although I bet Priyanka doesn?t give a crap about Kate in general. But Priyanka didn?t write the script! And I don?t even think Priyanka and Meghan are all that close, but whatever. This might be dumber than the Little Mermaid thing.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden are starring in a new Prime Video series about spies called Citadel. Priyankas been serving looks at the press events and Richard is forever my guy because hes just so cute. They seem to play well off each other and theyre both believable in action roles. I plan to watch this for the beauty and stay for the action. Anyway, Priyanka attended SXSW Film Festival and revealed that this series was the first time in her career when she was paid equally with her male costar. She talked about how that came to be and how women have to work harder to prove themselves.
The new Prime Video spy series Citadel offered plenty of firsts for co-stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden.
And as the accomplished Bollywood and Quantico actress revealed at the SXSW Film Festival in March, it also marked the first time in her career where she was paid equally with her male co-star.
The India-born Miss World 2000 winner reflected on her decision to open up about Hollywoods gender pay gap during our interview, crediting her agents at UTA and Amazon Studios chief Jennifer Salke for finding equity.
I dont think its [just] in this industry, she says. We happen to be entertainers, so the medias interested in writing [about] what we have to talk about. But if you talk about business or in any industry, women have to work quite a lot harder to prove their [worth], especially in boardrooms or in positions of power. They have to work way harder to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with a guy. I didnt even think about it, honestly. I was very excited about being part of this show, and Im not one that thinks about that very much. But I have to give my agents props. They suggested it? Youre playing co-leads, you should have parity. And I was like, You can [have that conversation], but it doesnt happen like that. You know, jaded old me, 20 years of trying this conversation.
But it was so easy. They came back and they were like, Yeah, its done. And I couldnt help but wonder, Did this happen so easily because the head of the studio was a female? Because when women are in positions where they make decisions, they think about creating opportunity for other women. And that is why its so important to create opportunity and push women to be in positions of power because it changes the game for another one.

This story is not shocking, because Hollywood, but still somehow shocking because Priyanka has been in the business for a long time. Like she says, 20 years! If this series was the first time, it makes me wonder about Quantico. She was the lead, so in theory shed have the highest paycheck, but maybe they found an excuse to give more money to Josh Hopkins or Blair Underwood. I wonder who she was referring to when she talked about men feeling insecure about her success. Im glad her people advocated for her as they should since its literally their job because it sounds like shed long since given up on trying to prove herself for parity. Its sh-tty that she even still has to do so with her resume. And I think the fact that the studio head is a woman definitely helped Priyanka here. Women recognizing other successful women and creating opportunities for one another to be successful, love to see it.

Here are some photos of Priyanka Chopra at the London premiere of Citadel this week. She posed with her husband Nick Jonas and her costar Richard Madden. She seemed especially concerned that photographers get a butt shot, which is so funny to me. Anyway, she looked gorgeous the dress is Vivienne Westwood, the only fashion house which can do a proper corset. Love her dark red lip too. To promote the film, Pri has been giving a lot of interviews, and she recently spoke about dealing with insecure men who can?t handle her success. I think she?s talking about men within the industry, not the man she?s married to.
Actor and global icon Priyanka Chopra said on Tuesday that society needs to raise men who are not insecure about the success of women. She opened up about pay parity in the film industry and revealed that there are some men in her life who are very insecure about her success.
I have some incredible men in my life who are not insecure about my success, but I also have men in my life who are very insecure about my success, she added. I think men have enjoyed freedom and the pride of being the breadwinners and the leaders of the family. It is threatening to their territory when a woman does that, or if a woman is more successful, or if a man is staying at home and a woman goes to work.?
The actress talked about the need for change in society at this time and said, We have to teach our sons that there is no shame in crying, in being able to share with your sister, mother, girlfriend, or wife, and give them the spotlight.
She discussed her own family and recalled a time when her mother had a higher income than her father. She added that because her parents viewed the earnings as a unit, there was no ego conflict regarding earnings. My dad did that to my mother Now when I am walking the red carpet with my husband and he steps aside and gives me centre stage, I feel very proud that I have surrounded myself with people that dont have such insecurities.?

?It is threatening to their territory when a woman does that, or if a woman is more successful, or if a man is staying at home and a woman goes to work? I loathe this conversation because I feel like people are reinforcing this attitude by talking about it, and I hate that this is still a thing. But it?s definitely still a thing. Buzzfeed recently did a piece on modern women in their 30s and 40s who make more than their husbands and almost across the board, the women feel guilty about it and overcompensate or try to keep it a secret. If he can?t handle your success, walk away. Seriously. It fking sucks that so many men are like this, not just with their partners but with their female coworkers! Men are just the fking worst.

At the end of last year, Gawker did a ?prediction? post about which celebrity couples were likely to get divorced in 2022. I linked to it and there were a lot of comments about whether or not I was ?rooting? for people to break up. I was not I was just gossiping, and trying to read certain gossip tea leaves. One of the couples on the list was Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. Let?s be real, they were giving off a vibe last year where many of us would not have been that surprised if they suddenly announced their divorce! They were barely even in the same country, and it definitely felt like they were cooling off a little. While they did work a lot (separately) last year, it turns out that they did have one special project together in 2021: they arranged for a surrogate pregnancy for their first child. I?ve always heard that Priyanka Chopra had a lot of plastic surgery in her early years, but before now, I?ve never really gone back to look at her really early photos. You guys, she was STUNNING before her surgeries. Maybe it?s because I also have an ?Indian nose,? but she was so beautiful with her original nose, my God. In Priyanka?s new memoir, Unfinished, she writes about why she went in for her first nose surgery, and why she?s had multiple surgeries to correct that original botched surgery.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is getting candid about the botched surgery she underwent in the early 2000s that left her feeling devastated and hopeless. Not long after catapulting to global fame when she was crowned Miss World 2000, Chopra Jonas, 38, began to develop a lingering head cold in the summer of 2001, which at the time she believed was simply a very bad sinus infection.
I was having trouble breathing. This is a problem someone with asthma cant ignore, the star wrote in her new memoir, Unfinished, available now. She ended up seeing a doctor recommended by a family friend, who discovered a polyp in my nasal cavity that would need to be surgically removed.
At the time, Chopra Jonas felt thankful that a polypectomy sounded like a pretty routine procedure, but unfortunately for her, it didnt go quite as planned. While shaving off the polyp, the doctor also accidentally shaved the bridge of my nose and the bridge collapsed. When it was time to remove the bandages and the condition of my nose was revealed, Mom and I were horrified. My original nose was gone. My face looked completely different. I wasnt me anymore, she said.
The procedure left the star feeling devastated and hopeless, she wrote. Every time I looked in the mirror, a stranger looked back at me, and I didnt think my sense of self or my self-esteem would ever recover from the blow. Dealing with the aftermath of the botched surgery was made even more difficult due to her newfound stardom. She remembers the media giving her a nickname ? Plastic Chopra ? after her surgery. Lets just call it out right now. Immediately the name started to show up in articles and newspaper items and it has followed me my entire professional life, Chopra Jonas said.
While she felt dared to give an explanation for the obviously different nose over the years, Chopra Jonas decided to draw a line and simply keep it private. I am an entertainer. Thats what Ive signed on to do, and thats what I love doing. I will say my lines, dance my dance, hit my mark. Ill do my best to make you laugh, and Ill do my best to make you cry, but just because Im a public person doesnt mean everything about my life has to be public knowledge. I get to choose what I share and when I share it, she wrote.
She ultimately ended up getting multiple corrective surgeries to fix the damage that was done during the polypectomy, and now, the star feels like her nose normalized? While it took a few years of seeing a stranger gazing back at me every time I looked in the mirror, Ive gotten accustomed to this face. Now when I look in the mirror, I am no longer surprised; Ive made peace with this slightly different me, Chopra Jonas said. This is my face. This is my body. I might be flawed, but I am me.

I mean? that?s her story, and I have no evidence to dispute her story. I?ll say this though it?s quite common in India, and in the Indian-American and British-Indian communities, to get nose jobs. There are so many mixed feelings within the Desi community about Indian noses and, simultaneously, people who get nose jobs to get more Anglo-looking noses. Priyanka?s right though, the nose drama really changed her whole face. I can?t get over how beautiful she was with the OG nose though.

Priyanka Chopra was my choice for worst-dressed person at the 2020 Grammys, and judging from the tweets, she was the consensus favorite for WTF Are You Wearing? Priyanka attended the Grammys as Nick Jonas? wife/date, and all the other JoBros brought their wives. Priyanka was the one who stood out though she wore this Ralph & Russo slouchy, fringey, deep-V-neck gown which was an utter mess. Since it?s R&R, you know this sh-t was expensive as hell too. All that money for bunching at hips and waist, and for them to do that Pri?s boobs? YIKES. Her makeup and hair look gorgeous though from the neck up, she?s totally fine. But lord, this dress.
The JoBros all wore Ermenegildo Zegna XXX.
Sophie Turner wore Louis Vuitton an okay little minidress which was appropriate for the date of a Grammy performer.
I feel sorry for Danielle sometimes! She tries. And she gets it wrong a lot.

Here are some photos of Priyanka Chopra at this weekend?s BeautyCon in Los Angeles. Her suit was not great. Neither was her makeup, which bizarrely included hot Pink eyeliner. But Priyanka?s cheesy suit and bad makeup is not the point of this post. Nope. First, some backstory: Priyanka Chopra is an Indian citizen. It wouldn?t surprise me if she has applied for American citizenship (now that she?s married to an American), nor would it surprise me if she was currently seeking dual citizenship. But she?s an Indian citizen and she?s a supporter of the current Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi. Modi even attended one of Priyanka and Nick?s eleventy billion weddings last year. Modi is a controversial figure at home and abroad, but I won?t get into that. This is just the backstory. Also part of the backstory: for decades, India and Pakistan have been in a near-constant state of conflict, war and geopolitical beefs.

Priyanka Chopra has a new (paywalled) interview with the Sunday Times. She talks about a lot of different things, including her career, her marriage to Nick Jonas and more. But what?s getting the most attention is when Priyanka makes a very obvious observation about the obvious racism her friend has faced. Priyanka is friends or is she?? with the Duchess of Sussex, and like many women, Priyanka has absolutely clocked all of the racism and racist dog whistles in the coverage of Meghan?s very existence. Some highlights from that part of the interview:
On Meghan being called ?pushy?: Ive seen that, and its really unfortunate. But if theres anyone who can handle it, its her. When asked if she believes the negative depictions of the duchess, who is biracial, have to do with her cultural background, she responded, For sure, 100 percent. Of course it has to do with racism, its an obvious reason. But the beauty of Meg is that shes been herself through all of this. A lot of people got to know her after everything [once she started dating Harry], but I knew her before, and shes the same chick.
On Meghan?s causes: Now that shes got a real platform, she talks about the same things she always did. We spent hours speaking about the difference that influence and dialogue can make to the world before this whole thing happened. So what you see now is authentically her. Shes always been the girl wanting to move the needle.

I mean? yes, obvious observation is obvious. Priyanka is stating something true and verifiable: of course there?s blatant racism and a racist tint to the way Meghan has been covered. But the British press has already taken Priyanka?s words and made them into, like, some kind of controversy? I always feel like I?m through the looking glass with this sh-t, but obviously, other people find it shocking that Meghan?s friends are consistently like ?stop being racist to Meg? and ?stop being cruel to a pregnant woman or new mother.?
