Once again, I kind of think Nicole Kidman deserves her own post. Hopefully this will be a preview of coming attractions for Nicole?s Cannes Film Festival fashion. This is Nicole at last night?s premiere of The Great Gatsby. Her dress is Dior.
What I love:
*I love that she didn?t go with a full-length gown.
*I love that she?s showing off her beautiful shoulders.
*I love that Nicole attempted an old-school fashion moment, and it did work ? she really dominated a lot of the fashion coverage.
*I love the design of the dress, even though I kind of think it belongs on someone younger (don?t yell at me, but imagine this on Carey Mulligan!)
What I hate:
*Her hair. She was aiming for high-fashion fauxhawk and she got a Granny helmet.
*Her lipstick. She matched it to her shoes. Ugh.
*The way her upper lip bulges when she smiles.
So, all in all ? Nicole had a victory. Can she keep it up? I wonder how many pieces of luggage she brought to Cannes? I wonder if she?s going to wear all-new gowns, or if she?ll pick and choose some vintage pieces? I?m so excited!
Here are some more photos from last night?s event. Naomi Harris wore Calvin Klein. It?s a beautiful, clean look and it suits her, although she doesn?t really stand out in this dress.
Fan Bingbing in Louis Vuitton. I find this whole look to be rather cloying.
Florence Welch in MiuMiu. Eh. I would have loved it if she had worn an impeccable tuxedo. This is hideous.
Freida Pinto in Gucci. I love an Indian girl in hot pink! It?s a weird love to have, I know, but she looks amazing.

I swear, you are going to be sick of Nicole Kidman within a week. Trust me. She?s going to be everywhere during the Cannes Film Festival. But for now, we can enjoy the fashion p0rn. Here are some photos of Nicole Kidman and Steven Spielberg (and Daniel Auteuil) at the photocall for the Cannes Film Festival jury. Spielberg is the jury chairman or whatever. Other jury members include: Christoph Waltz, Vidya Balan and Ang Lee. Do you think Ang Lee and Spielberg get along? I imagine they?re probably friendly and have a great deal of respect for one another, but let?s try to stir up some boy drama anyway.
We already saw Nicole at the Cannes Jury Dinner last night ? she wore a sparkly little frock which was okay. I had an issue with her hair (she flat-ironed and did a center-part) and her Botox/lip injections. As you can see in these photos, whatever work Nicole has had done to her face is much less noticeable when her makeup and hair are styled ?softer?. The hairstyle really compliments her, and the effect is that her lip tragedy is less noticeable. I really like her dress too ? this is a great choice for the start of Cannes. She can do glamour and sparkles for the evening, but I like that she went for a more professional/somber look for the photocall. She looks like a sexy widow. It?s a hot look. Update: finally got the designer ID on the dress, it’s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen Spring 2013. It’s one of the better pieces I’ve seen from Burton.
Should we say anything about her bolt-ons? CB kind of thinks Nicole?s style went a little bit haywire when she got them, and that?s a solid theory. For years, Nicole was the slim, small-breasted woman who could wear anything. I think she?s struggling with how to dress her bigger boobs now. Also: how GD short is Steven Spielberg?! Or is Nicole just THAT tall?

Gearing up for the exciting days ahead, Nicole Kidman and Steven Spielberg showed up at the Jury Press Conference at the 66th Cannes Film Festival today (May 15).
The legendary director will actually serve as the President of the Jury this time around, and he seemed to be in good spirits as he fielded questions from members of the international press.
He noted, ?My admiration for the steadfast mission of the festival to champion the international language of movies is second to none. The most prestigious of its kind, the festival has always established the motion picture as a cross-cultural and generational medium.?
Meanwhile, Ms. Kidman was the picture of perfection in her figure-flattering black dress and casually side-swept crimson coif.

OMG. Here are some new photos of Nicole Kidman at the Cannes Film Festival Jury Dinner last night ? today is the opening day of CFF, and guess what? Kidman is on the jury! That means for the next twelve days or so, we?re pretty much going to have a Nicole Kidman fashion post. Was Diane Kruger on the jury last year, I think? And remember how many photos there were of her? Remember how everyone was like ?seriously, ENOUGH with Diane Kruger?? That?s what it?s going to be like this year with Nicole.
And trust me, Nicole has come prepared, probably even more prepared than Kruger. Nicole will be wearing the best, the most noteworthy, the most headline-grabbing ensembles. At least that?s my hope, because I?m really looking forward to covering some noteworthy Cannes fashion this year. This Jury Dinner ensemble isn?t stunning me ? I don?t know the designer ID, but Nicole wears a lot of L?Wren Scott, and this could totally be L?Wren. And I?m pretty sure the shoes are Jimmy Choo, because Nicole has just been named the new face (feet?) of Choo:
Nicole Kidman is the new face of Jimmy Choo. The Oscar-winning actress will star in the brand’s autumn/winter 2013-14 campaign – the first since Sandra Choi took over the helm as sole creative director.
The imagery was shot last month by photographer Mikael Jansson and is described as having “a cinematic feel that hints at the power and seduction of the Jimmy Choo woman”. The adverts will premiere globally in August issues.
“I’ve always loved fashion and often use it as a way to get into character,” said Kidman. “There is a lot of complexity, mystery and femininity to the Jimmy Choo woman.”
The 45-year-old has previously acted as a brand ambassador for Omega watches and Chanel No.5 fragrance.
“I’m such a great admirer and feel enormously honoured to be working with Nicole Kidman,” said Choi. “Nicole is one of the finest actresses in the world, who I knew could convey the empowered glamour of the brand. But she is also so nuanced and refined; she brings an attitude of defiance, strength, sensuality and elegance.”
The Vogue cover girl was recently announced as a member of the Cannes Film Festival jury, so we’re expecting to see plenty of scene-stealing footwear gracing the Croisette.

Huh. Now, if you wanted 2001 Kidman to represent your brand, I would completely understand. But I don?t get how 2013 Nicole still manages to score major, lucrative advertising gigs. Her personal branding is ?off? these days, and when I think of Nicole, I do not think of shoes. Now, Diane Kruger? I totally think of shoes. Kerry Washington? Shoes. Rachel Weisz? Shoes. But Nicole? Clothes? but not shoes.

Bundled up to protect against the chilly London air, Nicole Kidman filmed, "Before I Go to Sleep" in England on Tuesday (April 2).
The "Others" star wore a long gray wool coat, black gloves, and a Pink scarf as she shuddered from the brisk weather.
Written and directed by Rowan Joffe, the movie tells the tale of a woman who wakes up every day remembering nothing as a result of a traumatic accident.
Joining the Aussie actress in the thriller are Mark Strong and Colin Firth. Look for "Before I Go to Sleep" in theaters in 2014.

Here are some photos of Nicole Kidman in Vienna, Austria over the weekend. Nicole is one of the faces of Omega, and she did some press events and a red carpet launch on behalf of the Omega Ladymatic Watch. Does anyone else thing ?Ladymatic? is a hilarious word? I?m sorry, I just got caught on that. Ladymatic. Ladymatic Biscuit. Ladymatic Fassmatic. Ladymatic Dongporium. OOOOooo. That will be the name of my male escort business!! Kaiser?s Ladymatic Dongporium!!
Anyhoodle, I just wanted to post these photos of Nicole?s red carpet gown because I think this is the prettiest she?s looked in a while. Yes, her face is still jacked (I can?t?) and yes her lips are ridiculous (they?re Kardashian-esque). But this dress is amazing! And you know I?m not even a fan of these delicate lace-like confections. Most of the time, when ladies wear these kinds of gowns, I think they look much too precious and old-lady-ish. But this Oscar de la Renta gown is fantastic and it looks great on Nicole. She accessorized the gown with a Roger Vivier clutch and the Omega Ladymatic!

Metallics were a big trend at last night?s Oscars, and I?m including some of the best examples of the darker metallics in this post. I see a lot of people loved Best Actress nominee Naomi Watts? asymmetrical Armani Prive gown, but I just wasn?t into it. Her body looked beautiful, I liked her hair, jewelry and makeup and I love that she seems to be aging naturally. I also loved the color ? like a pewter-blue metallic. But I just didn?t love the design of the dress. It feels like the kind of gown that Cate Blanchett ? and ONLY La Blanchett ? could really rock. On Naomi, it just seemed? ?off?. I would have liked it better (on her) if it had a symmetrical design on top.
Nicole Kidman wore L?Wren Scott, a designer which Nicole has been wearing a lot of lately. I?ll admit it ? I really liked this gown when I saw it in motion on the red carpet, but the still photos are leaving me cold. The gold swirls at the bottom are amazing, but now that I?m really looking at it? the gown is too small. Nicole stuffed her bolt-ons into it. And while I love that Nicole seemed ?looser? on the red carpet, her hair was WAY too loose. She had some of the worst hair on the red carpet (along with Aniston).
And here?s poor Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan, with her Oscar date George Clooney. They did not rule over the red carpet or the ceremony, which was nice. It was like George was making the effort to not overshadow Ben Affleck. I didn?t really get Stacy?s whole ?flapper? styling though. Did the dress really call for it? Not really. So, while I kind of liked the dress, I thought the styling ruined it. PS? Does anyone else think she looks like Giuliana Rancic?

These are some photos from last night?s London screening of Nicole Kidman?s new movie, Stoker. I previewed the film last year when the first trailer came out ? Nicole seems to be doing a character role as ?the unstable mother? in a creepy horror/suspense film starring Mia Wasikowska in the lead role (Mia plays Nicole?s daughter). Matthew Goode is also in the film, and all three actors showed up for the first screening, which is evidence that they?re all proud of the film I think. Here?s the latest trailer? God, this looks so creepy.
First, let?s talk about Nicole. She wore L?Wren Scott, one of her favorite designers (and mine), and I kind of hate it. No, that?s a strong word. I don?t hate it. I just don?t like it on Nicole. The gold turtleneck part is weird/confusing. And I?m not sure about the shade of blue. But, like all L?Wren pieces, at least the tailoring is stellar, right?
Meanwhile, we need to have a conversation about Mia. We rarely talk about her because really I don?t have much to say other than? she?s incredibly talented and she doesn?t seem to do anything scandalous or gossip-worthy. She?s not campaigning for anything, she?s not partying like crazy, she?s not boning every costar (that we know of). She keeps her nose clean and she?s adorable and talented. But? BANGS. Itty-bitty bangs trauma is the worse. Believe it or not, I don?t believe ?bangs trauma? is a binary state. There are stages of bangs trauma, and this movement for itty-bitty, too-high bangs is one of the WORST. For me, it?s worse than the shaggy-dog, too-long, covering-the-eyes bangs trauma. I think girls who do these bangs look like alien Spocks. Mia?s dress is Christopher Kane, by the way. It?s blah. Also: Bonus Matthew Goode! He?s so handsome, but he?s such a douche.

Is it weird that I think Nicole Kidman actually gets a kick out of coming to these music awards shows with her husband? She?s done the red carpet and awards-show circuit so many times in Hollywood, it must be relaxing for her to come to the Grammys where there?s no pressure, and she just gets to sit around and sing along to her favorite music. That must be why she always comes to the Grammys (and all of the country music awards shows) ? she actually likes being there. And it shows! Nicole looked very relaxed (for her!) in this sparkly gold Vera Wang gown. I?ve been bitching about the whole ?half-unlined gown skirt? thing for a few months now, but I actually think this is okay on Nicole. She has great legs, and it?s the Grammys. It?s acceptable, and I always love her in gold. One complaint: the middle-part. Blah.
Here?s Carrie Underwood in Roberto Cavalli. She looks like a pageant girl. Always. Forever. Too much makeup, big blonde hair, fake smile. I would have liked the dress more if it wasn?t two pageant-y black gowns fighting to live together. Either make the whole gown like the bodice, or make the whole gown that lacy stuff.
Natasha Bedingfield in EMERSON by Jackie Fraser-Swan gown from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection. HATE IT. That?s not some weird beige fabric at her waist either ? that?s her actual flesh. For that alone, I hate it.
