Katie Couric?s memoir, Going There, has been leaked out in dribs and drabs, and all of the excerpts are appalling. There are layers to the offense: Couric?s words are genuinely offensive, as she seems to still be an out-of-touch Mean Girl who hates women and capes for sexual predators like Matt Lauer. The other layer of offensive is that as she was writing the book, she didn?t seem to understand how bad she sounded and how people would be appalled by her ?story.? Her promotion for the memoir thus far has been Couric trying to do damage control on her own words, because clearly it?s too late to rewrite the damn book. So we?re supposed to forget about how Couric actually admitted (in the book) that she had knowledge of Lauer sexually harassing women in the NBC offices, and she?s trying to change the subject about how she was super-stunned to learn that Lauer is actually this vile predator. So? Couric was on the Today Show this morning and she said many words:

Here?s part of what Couric said to Today:
Tuesday, reflecting on when the news broke of sexual harassment allegations against her on-air partner of nine years, Couric said on Today that it was really, really hard, and it took me a long time to process what was going on.
The side of Matt I knew was the side of Matt I think you all knew. He was kind, generous, considerate, a good colleague, she said. As I got more information and learned more about what was going on behind the scenes. And then I did some of my own reporting, talked to people, tried to excavate what had been going on. It was really devastating and also disgusting.
I think what I realized is that there was a side of Matt I never really knew. I tried to understand why he behaved the way he did, and why he was so reckless, and callous, and honestly abusive to other women, Couric said, adding that they have no relationship today.

On one side, it?s not Katie Couric?s ?fault? that Matt Lauer was and is a predator who raped, harassed and abused women. That is his sh-t. And on that side, Couric is right about the ?permissive? atmosphere NBC News, like all newsrooms, is a boys club set up to protect men. Lauer was long considered ?the reason? why people tuned into Today, so NBC News gave him implicit permission to do whatever he wanted. But on the other side of all of that? Couric had knowledge of some (not all) of Lauer?s predatory behavior. And instead of using HER power to protect her female coworkers, she did nothing. And then gloated about Lauer?s victims? humiliation in her book. And now she?s trying to rewrite her own appalling memoir as she does promotion.

Katie Couric tweeted this photo in the aftermath of her Saturday wedding festivities in the Hamptons. She’s finally married John Molner after a two-year engagement. Katie looks glowing and gorgeous, and her Chantilly halter-style wedding dress sets off her joy perfectly. This is the second time that Katie has travelled down the aisle. Her first husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998. Katie said that she tried to keep this wedding simple because it’s her second one. She said, “This is not my first rodeo,” which is hilarious. The wedding still sounds pretty fancy by civilian standards:
Katie Couric married fianc John Molner in an intimate ceremony in East Hampton, New York, on Saturday.
The couple, who got engaged last September after dating for two years, tied the knot in the backyard of Couric’s home in front of 50 friends and family.
“We wanted to keep the wedding just very low-key,” Couric, 57, told PEOPLE before the wedding. “This is not my first rodeo so I didn’t want to go too crazy and neither did John.”
The ceremony, which Couric says had “traditional touches,” featured readings by Molner’s children, Allie and Henry, as well as Couric’s daughters with late husband Jay Monahan, Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 18. Couric’s youngest daughter also sang for the couple, Molner’s nieces were flower girls and there were two ring bearers.
The bride wore an ivory beaded and embroidered Chantilly lace halter gown by Carmen Marc Valvo that she’d finally decided on just one week before the wedding.
And bucking with tradition, she’d asked her groom to help her make the final decision. “I hope this isn’t bad luck but I actually tried it on for him,” she admitted. “I tried on a number of dresses and I was so busy, I had a crazy spring.”
Over the past couple of months, Couric wrapped up her talk show, embarked on her new role as a Yahoo! News Global Anchor, released a documentary, Fed Up, and celebrated her daughter Carrie’s high school graduation.
In fact, she was so busy that Molner, 51, ended up involved in a lot of the wedding planning.
“I call John ‘Groomzilla!’ ” Couric said. “We’re a very modern couple.”

Ahh, yes. The whole “don’t let the groom see the wedding dress” tradition is still alive and well. I’m glad Katie bucked that trend. Whenever women go crazy about not letting their grooms see their dress before the wedding, I always think of Charlotte’s two weddings on SATC. She had the perfectly executed nuptials with her “prince,” but the marriage was a disaster from the very beginning. Then Charlotte married bumbling Harry, and the wedding was a mess. He even had problems stomping the glass, but their union was lasting. Bah, tradition. Congrats to Katie and John!

Here’s what happened: Katie Couric’s mediocre talk show, Katie, aired a Dec. 4 episode that featured guests talking about how the HPV vaccine harmed their daughters. One parent said the vaccine even killed her child even though nothing was ever proven. The scientific community jumped all over Couric for presenting only one side of the issue and not talking at all about the benefits of the vaccine. Katie Couric’s new talk show has only been on the air for a few weeks, but she’s already getting more gossip airplay than the likes of competitor Anderson Cooper these days. Her latest episode features discussions with many sufferers of bulimia — including Demi Lovato, who has already proven herself to be quite quite vocal about her struggles with binging and purging — but Katie decided to surprise her audience by discussing her own ties to bulimia. Oddly enough, Katie herself has recently declared that Duchess Kate is “getting too thin,” and as Kaiser mentioned already, Kate definitely has some food issues even if they don’t include bulima per se. As for Katie Couric, she has confessed to battling with bulimia for many years during her young adulthood. Here’s what she had to say about her illness:
Katie Couric admits she battled with bulimia in her early 20s on a TV special about eating disorders, Page Six has exclusively learned.
We’re told that Couric makes the emotional confession today on her daytime show, on which she interviews new “X Factor” judge Demi Lovato, who sought treatment for “emotional and physical issues” including eating disorders in late 2010.
Couric says on her show, “I wrestled with bulimia all through college and for two years after that. And I know this rigidity, this feeling that if you eat one thing that’s wrong, you’re full of self-loathing and then you punish yourself, whether it’s one cookie or a stick of gum that isn’t sugarless, that I would sometimes beat myself up for that.
“How do you have a healthy relationship with food, and say, ‘You know what, I can have one cookie and it?s OK?’ That is such a huge thing for people who wrestle with this.”
Couric, 55, suffered from bulimia between the ages of 18 and 24, while she was at the University of Virginia, and as she started her TV career at the ABC News bureau in DC.
Sources tell us she was eventually able to beat the eating disorder with the help of a therapist and personal research into the lasting medical damage purging does to the body. It is estimated that 8 million people are suffering from an eating disorder.
We?re told that Couric has since maintained a healthy weight through diet and exercise, and is a huge fan of spin studio Flywheel, where she has been spotted working out daily ahead of the debut of her new show.

Obviously, Katie’s admissions aren’t nearly as scandalous as Diane Keaton’s account of her 20,000 calories per day bulimic diet, but I do think it helps when any celebrity comes clean about a past or present eating disorder. Katie’s always seemed to have it so together, and she’s so damn perky; so it’s hard to imagine her own self-esteem and weight struggles, and this revelation humanizes her somewhat.
Here’s the preview clip featuring Demi & co. Honestly, we’ve heard all of this from Demi before, so I don’t see the point in discussing that aspect of the story any further. But as for Katie Couric? That’s a pretty huge disclosure.

Duchess Kate?s weight has seemingly been in the news for years now. I can remember when Prince William dumped her in 2007, and Kate reemerged in the London nightlife scene suddenly looking dramatically slimmer ? and the UK press praised her for it. Then as soon as Kate and William got engaged in 2010, it seemed like Kate?s weight loss became even more dramatic. Thankfully, after more than a year of marriage, her weight did seem to stabilize a bit ? although she occasionally wears outfits that seem to accentuate her super-skinniness, so it?s still being discussed widely in the public sphere. But noticeably absent from the discussion is someone big, someone major coming out and saying, ?Damn, Kate looks really, really skinny. Almost too skinny.? Katie Couric has filled that void.
Katie Couric has launched an extraordinary attack on Kate Middleton and claimed that she is ?getting too thin?. The TV show host said that the Duchess of Cambridge needed to put on some weight – or she might not have her as a guest on her new programme. Couric also renewed her attack on her former employers at CBS and said she should have been ?more circumspect? about working with the company.
Her comments about the Duchess are likely to cause outrage at Buckingham Palace which granted her extensive access to the Royal family during a recent special for ABC News, where is a special correspondent. She made them during the filming of the first episode of her new chat show Katie in response to audience questions about who her dream guest would be.
Couric said that Kate would be her choice but there was one issue: ?I think she’s getting too thin.?
Kate reportedly lost 10lbs and went from a size eight to a size six in the weeks before her marriage to Prince William in order to fit into her wedding dress. She was reportedly on the Dukan Diet which limits those on it to just protein like fish during the first, most brutal stage.
This is not the first time Kate?s weight has come us as other commentators have raised concerns she may be getting too thin, especially if she wants to have a baby. The Royal Household has also been sensitive to weight issues since 1995 when Princess Diana publicly admitted that she suffered from bulimia and made herself vomit after eating. When interviewer Martin Bashir asked her what the Royal Family thought of her problems, Diana replied: ?They thought it was a waste of food?.

I?m not sure if the Princess Diana mention or comparison is apt. For one, Diana was so much younger, and she struggled with bulimia in the early years of her marriage, even throughout her first pregnancy. For Kate? it feels like it?s just about control for her. Like, she so controlled and so tightly wound that she?s incredibly conscious about her food intake. I don?t think she?s bulimic, but if you told me she had some general food issues, I would believe you. Plus, the UK press keeps praising her, and you know all of the people around Kate are probably praising her slim figure too. It?s not like she?s surrounded herself with people who will be like, ?Hey, a baked potato isn?t the enemy, your royal highness.?
As for Katie Couric and whether she should or shouldn?t have said anything about Kate?s figure. Ugh, I don?t know. I?m somewhat relieved to hear a public figure say something negative about Kate because I just get tired of everyone falling all over themselves to praise Kate for her hair or whatever.

Brooks and Katie met in 2006, and according to sources, once they got together, Katie couldn?t stop bragging about how she bagged a hot young piece. Earlier this year, they were even photographed together in Miami, where Brooks was showing off his furry moobs and Katie was sunning herself. Anyway, Brooks and Katie are over! Ten bucks says she finds herself another young stud.
Katie Couric has split with her boy-toy boyfriend Brooks Perlin after five years, Page Six can exclusively reveal. Sources tell us things have been rocky between the couple for months, and handsome Brooks, 17 years Katie?s junior, is moving out of her Upper East Side home.
A friend, speaking on Couric?s behalf, confirmed to us, ?They have decided to move on. Brooks is a great person and a real gentleman; he and Katie enjoyed their time together. But after five years, they have decided it was time to go their separate ways. Brooks is in the process of moving out of her home.?
Another source told us, ?Three months ago, Brooks was looking for a broker to find a new place to live. He stopped looking because they decided they were going to try to make things work.?
In May, Couric, hinted the future was cloudy for her and Perlin, CFO at Eco Supply Center, a green building-materials distributor. She told People, ?I am in the process of figuring out the future, and so is he. I am really happy in my personal life . . . but it is complicated.?
Mother-of-two Couric, 54, who lost her husband, Jay Monahan, to colon cancer in 1998, met Perlin in 2006 at an event to raise money for cancer research at the Louis Licari Hair Salon.
Speaking of their meeting, she said, ?I thought he was really cute. He asked me if I wanted to have dinner sometime, and I liked that it was so direct and natural.?
Of the age difference, she told People, ?I?ve been called all kinds of things. I?ve been ?cougared,? which was just obnoxious. But it?s good enough for Demi, right??
Of Perlin she added at the time, ?He?s incredibly kind, caring and sensitive . . . Even if we are not on the same page all the time, I like being in his space.?
But Couric isn?t sitting around nursing a broken heart, her friend added. She is channeling her energy into her syndicated daytime talk show with ABC, which starts in September.

It sounds like both Katie and Brooks knew that it wasn?t going to last forever, and they were surprised that they could make it work for so long. And yes, Katie is a cougar. Before Brooks, it was Chris Botti, another much-younger dude. The one thing that I liked about Katie and Brooks, however, was that although Brooks got the ?boy-toy? label, he had his own stuff going on. He had family money AND a job. He?s 17 years younger than Katie, but that makes him 37 years old right now. Not really a ?boy toy? at the end of the day.

After five years of anchoring CBS Evening News, Katie Couric announced yesterday that she will be leaving the program. I found this news altogether shocking, in that I had no idea she was still anchoring CBS Evening News. I was sure they had fired her ages ago. People Magazine says:
“I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News,” Couric tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I’m really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we’ve been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I’ve done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. In making the decision to move on, I know the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future.”
What’s next for the 32-year broadcast veteran?
“I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling,” she says, adding that other details, including when and where the show will air, are “still being discussed.”
It was definitely the right career move on her part. The whole concept of “evening news” will be gone in a few years, you wait and see. It’s a lumbering dinosaur. Besides the preponderance of cable news channels, the internet is making broadcast journalism virtually obsolete anyway. Not necessarily because people are getting their news information online, but they’re too busy with all the free porn. Nobody wants to hear about Libya when they’ve got their dick in their hand. Trust me, civil unrest is a real boner-killer.

I thought this news was already reasonably official, but Katie Couric is now making it even more hardcore. Not content to simply a skid mark on Dan Rather?s old seat with a note that says ?Smell ya later, d-bags,? Katie has given an interview to People Magazine formally acknowledging her desire to leave CBS News. It?s extremely interesting to me that Katie gave this exclusive to People, rather than, say, Newsweek. Or Time Magazine (same parent company as People Mag). Or Politico. Or CBS News for that matter. No, Katie went to the bible of official celebrity gossip. Interesting choice, right? Like? she?s preparing for what comes next, and she?s signaling that it will be heavy on the fluff (no judgment, I get paid for fluff too!).
After weeks of widespread speculation about her future, Katie Couric is finally ready to go on the record.
“I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News,” Couric tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I’m really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we’ve been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I’ve done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. Gabrielle Giffords, as well as British Prime Minister David Cameron ? and she’s covering the royal wedding.
“The bottom line is that I love doing all kinds of different stories,” says Couric, 54. “I have a lot of areas of interest and I want to be able to fulfill all of that.”

I think Katie is probably looking for a magazine show on NBC, and in an ideal world, NBC would just give her what she wants. I see Katie following the Barbara Walters path - making her bones doing ?fluff? celebrity journalism, and maybe some good faux-political stories too (like, cheating politicians, gay politicians who get caught up in scandals with lovers/hustlers, etc). What I think will actually happen, however, is that NBC is going to try to shoe-horn Katie back into the Today Show.
By the way, I?m really liking her hair these days. A superficial observation, I know, but this current color and cut is stellar on her.

Stepping out with her significant other by her side, Katie Couric was spotted leaving her New York City apartment earlier today (April 12).
The 53-year-old, who just released her new book "The Best Advice I Ever Got," was all smiles during the casual Big Apple outing while wearing a white sweatshirt and blue jeans.
After the recent announcement of her departure from the "CBS Evening News," Katie has thrown her support behind an upcoming feature documentary on obesity.
There is no word on what Couric's role will be in the project, but her spokesperson offered this to press, "Katie is being supportive of the project because she cares about the issue (of obesity)."
