Lori Loughlin has been headed for trial ever since she rejected the prosecutors? initial plea deal and found herself facing even more indictments, all in connection with Operation Varsity Blues, and her $500,000 scheme to get her dumb kids into USC. Considering the charges against her and the fact that the feds weren?t playing around with their multi-month investigation, I tend to believe that the federal prosecutors have a good case against Lori and her husband Mossimo. Is it all a sure thing? Of course not. There?s always a possibility that the evidence really isn?t that strong, or that the prosecution overcharged Lori and Mossimo. But here?s what really worries me: even if the feds have a strong case, Lori might still be able to use her ?I?m just a clueless faith-based rich white mom who would do anything for my children!? defense and it could work. Lori apparently thinks it will work.
Attorneys for Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli believe they have a good chance of being acquitted if they face trial after being charged in the college admissions scandal, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE.
?The more that [the attorneys] look at the alleged evidence against them, the better they feel about the case,? says the source. ?Everyone is feeling more and more confident that this could end well for them.?
The insider, who speaks with the family regularly, tells PEOPLE that Loughlin wants to put the entire case behind her. ?A trial drags things out,? says the source, ?and she would like to move forward, which she can?t do until it goes to trial. But still, she feels like she?s got a valid defense, and that when all the evidence comes out, that she won?t be found guilty.?
Going to trial could also salvage her reputation, says the source. ?Lori feels like so much damage has been done publicly that the only way for her to counter it is to fight this case in court,? the source previously told PEOPLE. ?She feels like once all the evidence is presented, that people will understand how things happened.?
[From People]
The privilege of truly believing in and counting on your privilege to get you out of federal crimes? it?s like a snake eating itself. Privilege atop of privilege, and Lori really deeply understands that she can play Mrs. Hallmark-Faith-Based-White-Mom and there will be a few people on the jury who find her sympathetic. I hope the prosecution is prepared for that. I hope they make it about the smart, accomplished kids who could have gone to USC in her daughters? place.

Lori Loughlin is a joke at this point, right? She?s still leaking like crazy to People Magazine with her delusions of glory, like she was the biggest A-lister to ever A-list, and that her tacky college scam was some enormous fall from grace. If anything, the way she?s handled ?being charged with multiple federal crimes? has proven to me that she?s exactly the type of woman who would participate in a massive criminal enterprise and then try to Hallmark Becky her way out of it. Well, Hallmark Becky is going to court. As in, ?sources? tell People Magazine that Lori will not take a deal, and that she?s hellbent on going to trial to prove her innocence.
Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli want to face trial in the college admissions scandal because they think it?s their best chance for redemption, a source close to them tells PEOPLE.
?Lori feels like so much damage has been done publicly that the only way for her to counter it is to fight this case in court,? the source tells PEOPLE. ?She feels like once all the evidence is presented, that people will understand how things happened.?
Loughlin, 54, and Giannulli, 55, face charges of mail fraud and money laundering conspiracy. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison for each charge. Attorneys for the couple were in court on Monday, entering formal pleas of not guilty of the charges against them. The couple previously turned down a plea deal ? and they continue to insist that going to trial is in their best interest.
?She doesn?t want to spend time in jail,? the source says, ?but she knows that any sort of plea or conviction at this point will include jail time. Her only chance of avoiding jail is to go to court and be found not guilty.?
[From People]
While I think Hallmark Becky is a delusional, entitled ahole, I?m also a realist: her latest scheme could totally work. If she gets the right jury, I could see her relying heavily on her white tears and a narrative about a mother?s love for her dumbfk daughters. And I could see it working. It depends on the location of the trial I feel like it would be in Massachusetts, since that?s where they were charged? If the jury poor is from the Boston area, what are the chances that jurors believe Lori?s Hallmark Becky act?

I?ve said this before, but it?s worth repeating: one of the biggest problems Lori Loughlin and her daughters have is that their perception of themselves is wildly different than how other people see them. Lori sees herself as a Hollywood A-lister, popular and beloved, and Olivia Jade always saw herself as selling a very high-end brand of herself. Even before Operation Varsity Blues, the reality was much different Lori is more of a C-lister in the Hollywood ecosystem, a television actress on the Hallmark Channel selling a churchy, faux-wholesome image. And the reality for Olivia Jade was that she was just some Kylie Jenner wannabe, the lowest of the low a reality star without her own reality show. In the wake of Operation Varsity Blues, we?ve seen just how budget and tacky this family really is. But they?re stuck on this idea that this whole ordeal has been a gigantic fall from grace. LOL. Some quotes from People & CNN:
Lori Loughlin faces criminal charges in the college admissions scandal ? and the actress worries the charges will overshadow her career and permanently ruin her reputation, a source familiar with the case tells PEOPLE.
?Lori is shocked and saddened that this is what her legacy is going to be,? the source says.
Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, maintain they are innocent of the charges against them in the college admissions scandal.
This is not a story. This has become a total circus. They didnt do anything wrong, a source close to the couple told CNN. Defending the couples alleged actions, the source said, They did what so many people in their financial situation do to get their kids into schools. What about the people that donate buildings to schools? Why are they becoming the poster children for things that have been going on forever? They didnt do anything illegal. They just wanted a good education for their kids, like every parent does. There was no bribe. They are solely focused on winning their legal case.

THeY dIDn?T dO AnYTHiNg wRoNG. Do you hear that, federal prosecutors? Nothing! As for this: ?Lori is shocked and saddened that this is what her legacy is going to be? honey, buy a clue. Before this, your legacy was what? Hallmark actress/Aunt Becky/mother to two spoiled idiots. Operation Varsity Blues seems entirely on-brand for Lori?s ?legacy.?

I still enjoy hearing about Lori Loughlin?s alternate reality. In LoriWorld, federal crimes are just mere ?family matters? which can be waved away through denial and leaks to People Magazine. In LoriWorld, you can get away with anything if you?re a ?faith based? faux-churchy white mother. In LoriWorld, you are seen as self-sacrificing if you decide to take a deal rather than sit back and watch your daughters and your husband roll on you to cut a better deal. Yes, that?s the latest from People Magazine: after last week?s news that the FBI is investigating her daughters? roles in the college admissions scam, Lori wants everyone to know that she would do anything to make sure her daughters would never be put in ?harm?s way.?
Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli continue to deal with the legal fallout for their alleged involvement in the college admissions scandal ? and the couple is willing to protect their daughters at all costs. Last week, DailyMail.com first reported that one of the couple?s daughters ? either Olivia Jade, 19, or Isabella Rose, 20 ? was under criminal investigation in the case. Also last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that several students had received ?target letters? from federal investigators who believed they might have been complicit in their parents? alleged acts.
A source close to Loughlin confirms the couple ?has every reason to believe? their daughters could be targets of prosecution ? and they are taking their daughters? well-being into account as they proceed in the case.
?Lori will not do anything to put her daughters in harm?s way,? the source tells PEOPLE. ?She is like a mama bear when it comes to the girls, and she will do whatever she has to do to protect them from prosecution, especially malicious prosecution. Her top priority in all of this is to protect her daughters.?
?The prosecution could easily charge the daughters in an attempt to get them [Loughlin and Giannulli] to plead guilty,? the source says. ?But investigators have not disclosed any information that they may or may not have that would implicate either one of the daughters.?
[From People]
?She will do whatever she has to do to protect them from prosecution, especially malicious prosecution?? Is it malicious prosecution if the feds are like ?hey we have evidence of all four members of your family doing federal crimes, and we?ll charge your daughters based on this evidence?? And wouldn?t Lori have better protected her daughters if she had just taken the first deal on the table, rather than naively believing she could try her case in the court of People Magazine? And I guaran-fking-tee that the feds have more than enough evidence that one or both daughters committed crimes. Like the faked rowing photos. Also: Olivia Jade was out partying this weekend. She clearly DGAF about her mom?s fake martyr act.
Last thing Us Weekly started the ball rolling last week when they claimed Lori?s friends never really liked her husband Mossimo and that those friends believed the entire scam was Mossimo?s fault. Now Us Weekly reports that ?Lori is constantly arguing with Mossimo because she is beginning to grasp that they are in very serious jeopardy.? This whole thing is going to rip her family apart and they?re all going to turn on each other.

Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli did not have to go to court yesterday. Their lawyers entered pleas on their behalf, which I guess was easy enough to do because Lori and Mossimo pleaded ?not guilty? to every charge they?re now facing, including mail fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. TMZ now says that if they were found guilty, they would spend a minimum of 4 years, 9 months in prison, but all of the reporting last week was about how they could spend 10-20 years in prison. The point is that a substantial amount of time in prison is definitely part of anything on the table. TMZ also says that a plea bargain is miraculously still on the table too, but I guess Lori and Mossimo just refuse to take anything with a prison sentence. People Magazine has more on that part:
Lori Loughlin and her fashion designer husband pleaded not guilty Monday to two charges against them in the college admissions cheating scandal ? and a legal source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that having rejected an offer for a deal from prosecutors, their plea was ?the only choice they?ve got.?
?She probably should have taken the deal, but at the time, she didn?t really realize how serious the charges were,? the source tells PEOPLE.
?More than that, I think she and her lawyers underestimated how motivated the prosecution was. So she didn?t plead, and then they hit her with another charge. Now she?s willing to negotiate, but the prosecution says that the deal is off the table. So the only choice they?ve got is to plead not guilty. That?s all they can do.?
The source confirms to PEOPLE that Loughlin and husband J. Mossimo Giannulli pleaded not guilty to both charges they face: mail fraud and money laundering conspiracy. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison for each charge.
[From People]
Huh. TMZ?s article was rather insistent that the federal prosecutors still have a deal on the table, but it?s also clear that Lori and her camp have been leaking sh-t to People for weeks. So Lori?s version is that they were only offered one deal two weeks ago, and they refused to take the plea and now they?re facing 20 years. My guess is that if Lori and Mossimo had better lawyers, those lawyers would be speaking regularly to the prosecution and trying to work out something. But as of right now, Lori just wants people to think that these federal prosecutors are bullying a poor, affluent, faith-based white lady who is JUST LIKE US. Bish, please.

All week, we?ve been talking about how Lori Loughlin lives in denial about her circumstances. She truly thought she could peddle her churchy Hallmark crap to federal prosecutors and the media and nothing would happen to her. She rejected a plea deal that would have gotten her a two year prison sentence, only to then get indicted for additional crimes. It?s clear that the federal prosecutors have more than enough evidence. It?s also clear that Lori has been workshopping her trial defense for weeks she?s just a Jesus-loving white mom who does yoga and Pilates, just like you. She only spent $500,000 cheating her daughters into college because EVERY parent would do that for their kids, right?
For the last month, Lori Loughlin has grappled with the charges against her in the high-profile college admissions cheating scandal, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE.
?It?s just taking some time for it to sink in that what she was allegedly doing could be considered illegal,? says the source. ?To her, it wasn?t egregious behavior. Was it entitled and perhaps selfish? Perhaps. But she didn?t see it as being a legal violation. From the beginning, she didn?t want to take a deal, because she felt that she hadn?t done anything that any mom wouldn?t have done, if they had the means to do so,? the source continues. ?So this wasn?t her being obstinate; this was her truly not understanding the seriousness of the allegations.?
Now things are beginning to sink in for the actress, the source says. ?She?s trying to decide what is the best move for her,? says the source. ?She has no desire to prolong this for anyone, but she still believes that she deserves a fair outcome. Obviously, the deal, if any, will be different than if she had taken a deal a week ago [before the latest charge],? the source continues. ?She?s a smart woman and she realizes that. But she is amenable to discussing how to put this behind everyone now. She?s ready for this to go away.?
[From People]
The repetition of ?she?s ready for this to go away? in several stories this week makes me think that Lori really and truly does not understand the fact that she could go to prison for two decades. She thinks she can wave this away like a bad bottle of Chardonnay. She thinks it?s just a matter of calling in the right favors from the right connections. She might even be right Lori and Mossimo are allegedly hadcore Republicans, and I?m sure they?ve donated money to powerful people in the government. Maybe a discreet call to some ally at DOJ? Who knows. I?d like to believe that wouldn?t work, but in Trumplandia, anything is possible.
Also: ?To her, it wasn?t egregious behavior. Was it entitled and perhaps selfish? Perhaps. But she didn?t see it as being a legal violation? she felt that she hadn?t done anything that any mom wouldn?t have done, if they had the means to do so.? Again, I truly hope that parents like Lori Loughlin are the minority. The idea of it is so foreign to me, the idea that my parents would have thought so little of my education that they would buy my way into college. My dad (an Indian immigrant/highly educated engineer) and my mom (a public school teacher) always took the educators? side in any school issue. If I had bad grades (and a bad grade was a B in my house), it was because I wasn?t working hard enough, not because of the school or the teachers.

As we discussed this week, Lori Loughlin turned down a plea deal and ended up getting indicted for more crimes. On Monday, it looked like Lori could possibly be facing two years in prison. By Wednesday, the new indictments came down and she could be facing more than 20 years in prison if convicted. For weeks now, I?ve become convinced that Lori truly believed that she could simply treat ?federal charges of bribery, tax fraud and money laundering? as a PR crisis which could be solved with autograph signings outside of the courthouse and anonymous quotes to People Magazine about how churchy she is. Life comes at you fast, though.
First, People Magazine had a lengthy story about how Lori and Mossimo Giannulli were in serious denial. When federal prosecutors offered them a deal which would have had them doing 18-24 months in jail, sources said: ?They weren?t ready to accept that. They?re really not seeing how serious this is.? Now that they refused the deal and have gotten indicted a few more times, sources say: ?They decided to roll the dice and it may have been a bad gamble. Now they?re in worse shape than before.? People Magazine also had a story about how, yeah, the prosecutors want all of the parents to serve jail sentences. The source said: ?They want to send a clear message, and that message includes jail time. Prosecutors know this is a high profile case and they want to make an example of the defendants.? The only way to avoid a jail sentence is a not guilty verdict at trial, and prosecutors stress that they have a mountain of evidence against Lori and Mossimo. Then E! News chimed in with an exclusive that had many of the same details:
For awhile, as Lori rattled around the 12,000-square-foot spread they first snapped up for nearly $14 million in 2015, she was able to keep the worst of the what ifs at bay. Firm in her beliefs that surely she wouldnt see the inside of a prison cell, a source tells E! News, she neglected to join the 13 parents (including fellow actress Felicity Huffman) and one university athletic coach who agreed to plead guilty to the charges of mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.
She has been in complete denial and thought maybe she could skate by, the source explains. She refused to accept any jail time and thought the DA was bluffing. She was adamant she wouldnt do any jail time.
But without work to busy herself with?on March 14 Hallmark announced they were severing all ties with Lori, which is, perhaps, for the best considering she was forced to surrender her passport rendering her unable to travel to her series Vancouver sets anyway?shes had more than enough time to stew and second guess her gut reaction.
Lori is finally realizing just how serious this is, says the source, noting the former child model is beating herself up for not accepting the initial deal. She is seeing the light that she will do jail time and is freaking out.
[From E! News]
?She refused to accept any jail time and thought the DA was bluffing. She was adamant she wouldnt do any jail time.? First, its not a DA its a federal prosecutor. Second, imagine the privilege. Imagine the Becky-ness. Imagine thinking so highly of yourself and your bullsh-t ?faith-based? lifestyle that the prosecutor was like ?look at this sh-t ton of evidence we have against you? and saying ?nah, don?t believe it, I?ll take probation thank you very much.? Lori did all of these crimes and she knows how much evidence there is. And she?s still stuck in her bubble of privilege where nothing bad would happen to a rich white lady like herself. Throw the book at her.

As I?ve said several times now, it?s remarkable how Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman are dealing with their federal charges in completely different ways. Felicity seems genuinely anguished (as she should) and truly apologetic, even though Felicity?s crimes were a lot less than Lori?s crimes. Lori has approached her criminal charges in an almost Lindsay Lohan-esque way, getting pap?d around LA, smiling for cameras as she goes into court, signing autographs outside of the courthouse and more. Lori has also been leaking (through ?sources?) some positive information in People Magazine. Like all of this is just a PR crisis and not a situation where she could end up in federal prison for two years or more. Sources tell People that Lori is getting through this situation through? yoga and faith. My lord.
As Lori Loughlin awaits her fate for her alleged involvement with the college admissions scandal, the actress is attempting to maintain some sense of normalcy.
A source close to the Full House star, 54, tells PEOPLE that Loughlin has been doing well, despite her recent indictment and arrest, and has been relying on the things she enjoys doing most to get her through the difficult time.
?While waiting for this to come to some conclusion, she?s trying to keep a somewhat regular schedule ? going to yoga and pilates and seeing friends for lunch,? the source says. ?She is very faith-based, and she knows her faith will get her through this.?
?She?s holding up well, given the circumstances,? the insider added. ?She has a strong very strong faith that is helping her immensely. She loves her husband and her children very much.?
[From People]
Not to make this about race, but this is partially about race. A moderately famous white woman committs a sh-tload of crimes and her reaction is to just put a smiley and churchy face on it, because of course there will be tons of ladies who are like ?I do yoga and I go to church, I identify with Lori so much!? What would the reaction have been if Lori was someone other than Aunt Becky? My point is that I?m sure a lot of people (white women) will buy this angle. But surely many more people will see through it? It is a craven attempt to sell this churchy-Hallmark image. It?s gross.

Lori Loughlin was allowed to keep her passport when she turned herself into the FBI and got formally charged with the crimes associated with bribing officials to get her daughters into USC. Lori was allowed to keep her passport because she had work commitments in Vancouver, where she films many of her Hallmark movies and her Hallmark series, When Calls the Heart. She told the court that she had filming commitments throughout the rest of the year. I joked yesterday that the Hallmark Channel was probably like ?we?d like to be excluded from this narrative.? As it turns out, that sh-t was no joke.
Lori Loughlin has been dropped from all Hallmark Channel productions in the wake of the college admissions scandal. In a statement obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday, the network said, ?We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including Garage Sale Mysteries, an independent third party production,? the statement continued.
Along with stopping any current projects, the network will no longer air past content featuring Loughlin.
The actress has become a staple on the channel over the years, starring in numerous movies, TV shows and specials. She is currently starring as a series regular on Hallmark?s drama When Calls the Heart, which is currently in its sixth season. A representative for Hallmark told PEOPLE that the series will not air on Sunday, March 17.
