We were all kind of blown away when Krysten Ritter appeared at the Oscar?s sporting a baby bump. I had no idea she was expecting. No wonder she was so content with ending Jessica Jones, she had another project to focus on. And now, the little bundle has arrived! Krysten and partner, Adam Granduciel, have welcomed a baby boy named Bruce.
Krysten Ritter has given birth to her first child ? a baby boy named Bruce Julian Knight Granofsky!
Bruce was born on July 29 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. TMZ got a hold of the little one?s birth certificate, which you can check out on their site.
[From Just Jared]
Adam?s actual last name is Granofsky, he goes by Granduciel for his band, The War on Drugs. Bruce Julian Knight sounds like a knight, doesn?t it? Of course, given Krysten?s superhero background, there are already theories that the name is comic related, specifically Bruce Wayne/The Dark Knight. Given that Krysten was in a Marvel show, this would be kind of funny. However, the baby shower usually gives hints if the baby?s name is themed. Krysten and Adam?s was rock n? roll themed so I?m inclined to think Bruce and Knight are just a coincidence, rather than an ode to Batman.
Other than what?s in the excerpt, we don?t know much. Both Krysten and Adam are pretty private about their personal life, so I don?t think we?ll get much more information, which, of course, is perfectly fine. Except I like baby pics. One thing we do know is that Baby Bruce will be well-kept in blankets and caps. Krysten is an avid knitter who has her own pattern line. Maybe Bruce will be her model for a new baby-line? Ohmigawd ? what if Bruce and Mikey model together?! We may not get pics of Bruce on her Instagram, but Krysten is always generous with pics of her pup Mikey (and bless her all the more for it.)
Congratulations Krysten, Adam an Mikey on the newest family member!

Krysten Ritter wore this silver Cushnie Et Ochs dress to the Jessica Jones premiere. I love it – asymmetrical neckline, color and fabric. And I’m always here for a dramatic slit. Jessica Jones started streaming on Netflix yesterday. I haven’t watched it yet, The Mister said I had to wait for him.
I’ve liked Krysten since Gilmore Girls but I don’t know much about her. I had no idea she published a novel last year called Bonfire. I also didn’t know Krysten was an avid knitter. Apparently, that’s totally on me because Krysten is huge in the knitting community, like gracing the cover of Vogue Knitting huge. She even has her own knitting collection. So how much does she love knitting? According to Krysten, she’d rather knit than do almost anything else.
On if a Krysten Ritter-knitted sweater appeared in the first episode of the new season: I wish! No. Here’s the thing: I would have to work really hard, because we need seven of everything that I wear. I think it’s seven. It’s me, my stand-in, my stunt double, a backup, and then a larger size and a smaller size. But there’s just too many. I did not, unfortunately, but maybe [co-star] Rachael [Taylor] ends up wearing something. I always try to get a piece of mine in the show. If we do a season three, I will 100 percent try to get that thing in the show.
On knitting being her first love: Yeah, I love it. Honestly, I’d rather be knitting than doing most things. I love it. I like creating something with my hands, and it’s also something that I can do anywhere while I’m doing all of my other side hustles. Y’know, I’ve got a lot of shit going on, and it’s just one of those things that I love to do.

I have a friend who knits all the time. She’ll reach over and grab her needles and yarn mid-conversation without taking her eyes off mine. It’s therapy for her (maybe I should wonder why talking to me is so stressful she need to start knitting). Knitting must be the way Krysten unwinds. And since it’s something she can do everywhere, Krysten always has an outlet. Which is marvelous because I imagine between acting, writing novels and running her production company, things probably get pretty stressful.
When Krysten appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she tried to teach him knitting. I’m adding the clip because watching Krysten in the role of Jessica, I forget she ivacious and fun she is in real life (it’s called acting, darling). Notice the dress she wore. I’m seeing a trend of silver dresses with deconstructed necklines – and I am all for it!
But guys, we need to talk about her dog, Mikey. He needs his own Vogue cover:

| Krysten Ritter on all women directors for Jessica Jones: 'I feel more at ease' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The second season of Netflix’s Jessica Jones is almost upon us. I’ll admit I was only so-so on the first season but I liked it enough to give the second a try. Even with losing David Tennant in that role (my God, he was incredible) I really like Kyrsten Ritter and I think she’s great as Jessica. However, another reason to support the series is because, as we discussed after season one, Netflix committed to hiring female directors for all 13 episodes. Now that the season two is (finally!) here, Krysten talked about what that meant to her and the show in general.
On getting into Jessica’s dark headspace: I’ve gotten a lot better at that, in Season 2. The more you use that muscle, the better you get at it. I feel like I am able to find a balance and am able to bounce back. I also make sure to do nice things for myself and go out with the crew. I realized that I like to laugh a lot and have fun, so I make sure to find those moments and have balance. In Season 1, I got really depressed and wasn’t able to shake it off like that. Now, I feel like I was able to be a little bit more disciplined, in that way. But yeah, Jessica is in a really dark headspace and you have to take good care of yourself, mind and body to stay in that level of darkness for six months.
On having all 13 episodes being directed by women: It was really great. Our show is already so female. Season 1 was so female. It’s already in our DNA. But having all women this season was exciting because it’s never been done before, which is stupid. The content that we cover and the dark subject matter and the sexual stuff, to be honest, having those conversations with a woman is a lot easier for me. I feel much more at ease and safe, and able to be vulnerable and raw, when you’re planning this stuff out with a woman. It just takes something away from a conversation, when you can’t be really real and raw. I love it! Within the industry now, there’s a lot of mandates to hire women and for diversity, which is amazing because that wasn’t there ten years ago. They went into this season with an eye to hire as many women as possible and to represent diversity, and then they started interviewing people and wound up with more than half, and then more than three-quarters, and then decided to do it all. Those women ended up being the best people for the job. I can’t wait for it to be totally commonplace and not that crazy.
On working with Janet McTeer: Oh, my god, it’s heaven! I love her! I absolutely worship her! She is so fierce and so smart. She’s one of the most exciting actresses I’ve ever worked opposite. Sometimes she’s super adorable and I’d ask myself, “Am I in love with Janet McTeer?” We had a great time together. We needed a heavyweight actor, after David Tennant in Season 1, and she is that, let me tell you.
[From Collider]
The rest of the interview deals much more with the show’s plot and characters. I’m wondering what Krysten is referring too when she said, “it’s never been done before,” because Queen Sugar’s hired women directors exclusively for their second season. Maybe she meant in the superhero or comic genre. But I agree with her, given the subject matter and the baggage the women in JJ are carrying, a female director’s perspective would help immensely, particularly conflict resolution, which I don’t think season one handled well. I also like that Krysten reiterated that the women were hired not just as a diversity push but because they were also the best for the job.
You can read Colliders review of the new season here. It has season one spoilers. I didn’t watch The Defenders but Collider said that’s not a problem to get into JJ season two, it largely ignores her part in The Defenders. Janet McTeer’s role is being kept hush-hush, she hasn’t been named and she’s not giving anything up in her interviews. She’s the bad guy, right? She has to be the bad guy. Or the good guy who did Jessica wrong. Or Jessica’s abandoned childhood dog back in human form. Or – I honestly don’t care, I’d watch Janet play anything, I can’t wait to find out who she is in this. Season two starts streaming tomorrow on Netflix.
