Kate Upton might have landed the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover, but Sophia Neophitou — editor of the “English style bible ’10? and creative force behind the casting of the Victoria?s Secret shows” — doesn’t think she’s refined enough to take the runaway at a VS fashion show. The NY Times says:
?We would never use Ms. Upton for a Victoria?s Secret show,” Ms. Neophitou said by telephone last week from London. And, while Ms. Upton has, in fact, modeled on occasion for the company?s catalog, her look, said Ms. Neophitou, is ?too obvious? to be featured in what has become the most widely viewed runway show in the world.
?She?s like a Page 3 girl,? Ms. Neophitou said, referring to the scantily clad voluptuous women featured in The Sun, a London tabloid. ?She?s like a footballer?s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.?
Day-um. I think it’s pretty clear that either Kate Upton fucked Ms. Neiphitou’s significant other, or else Ms. Neiphitou caught her significant other jerking it to pictures of Kate Upton. The only way it’d be more obvious that she hated Kate is if she spat and made the sign of the cross every time she said her name.

I think the best thing about Kate Upton getting the cover of this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, aside from her massive breasts in a bikini of course, is that as part of her cover girl duties she’s got to do a whole bunch of personal appearances promoting the crap out of this thing. Awesome.

The 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl played it close to the vest while chatting with Ellen DeGeneres about New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.
Kate began, ?I did not have a Valentine?s Day date this year,? to which Ellen replied, ?He?s cute. Don?t you think he?s cute??
Upton blushed, "Yeah, he is cute. I've met him. My sister works for the Jets. And she's been working there for four years. So, I went to all the games."
"So, now you're dating him?" asked Ellen. Kate answered, "I met him briefly? I don't know what you're talking about."

Swimsuit model Kate Upton swapped her bikini for a sassy red dress as she arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on Tuesday (February 14).
The nineteen year old showed off the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover before heading inside for her interview on the "Late Show with David Letterman".
Earlier this morning Kate also made an appearance on the "Today" show and talked about being a model, saying, ?Well, in my opinion... you know everyone talks about how the age of the supermodel is dead... but I don?t think it?s dead. I think people want more. You know, we have new technology so people want to see personalities not just someone walking down a runway or just a face. That?s why campaigns go to actresses now.?
After the interview, she tweeted, "Just finished the @todayshow and for real I'm looking hot haha".

I guess I have to hand it to Sports Illustrated. They sort of have a commitment to promoting healthy body images for women. And by that I mean that Sports Illustrated usually almost never chooses a really skinny, emaciated high-fashion-type for their swimsuit edition cover. They seem to use the same criteria as Victoria?s Secret – slender is fine, but a healthy dose of T&A is a necessity. Thus, Kate Upton is the cover girl for the 2012 Swimsuit Edition. I really like her figure – her (big!) boobs look natural, she has hips, and she?s a pretty ?all-American? type of girl. She looks like she eats. She looks like she has ?problem areas? on her body that she worries about. She?s accessible, basically. You can see Kate?s SI pictorial here.
What else would you like to know? Last year?s cover girl with Irina Shayk, a Russian, so it?s nice that an American girl got the cover this year. Kate?s only 19 years old (she?s a baby!), and judging her solely from photos, she seems super-bubbly. She?s from Michigan. Everyone thought she?d get the cover, so this isn?t a huge surprise. The cover was leaked hours before the big reveal on The Late Show with David Letterman last night. Kate already has a significant profile as a model – she has a contract with Victoria?s Secret and Guess already. When her hair is up, she definitely has that sexy/chipmunky Brigitte Bardot look.
