Heather Graham essentially wore a nightgown to last night’s CFDA event, which I guess isn’t a complete shock for a woman who once wore a bustier and hot pants to the premiere of a children’s movie. For decades now, I’ve always thought that Heather is so gorgeous, but she’s not a big fashion girl in any sense of the word. So let’s talk about this pale blue nightie, which a few websites have mistakenly identified as Marchesa, and it’s certainly an Ice-Capadey enough design that such a mistake is both understandable and hilarious. This is in fact a Nicole Miller design, and here she is with the (back of the) designer; as you can see, this dress had a nice amount of moment and got all fluttery (and mullety?) when Heather set it into motion.
Heather’s big blue eyes were on full display at the event, and the color of the gown really played them up. So maybe those peepers help a little to distract from the fact that Heather was wearing lingerie on the red carpet. Or maybe not.
Karen Elson bared her midriff in a jade-green-and-black patterned dress that looked like a two-piecer. Not many people (or models even) could pull off this look, but Karen’s sense of style is so offbeat that it somehow works for her. Those funky, red, peep-toe sandals are equally bizarre, but Karen works them too.
Karolina Kurkova‘s dress was quite strange, and at first glance, it almost looks to be constructed from Egyptian-patterned fabric. But up close, there’s all sorts of stuff going on, and the effect is way too busy. Karolina opted for an Erickson Beamon necklace and black and gold strappy sandals as well. The really odd part of this dress though is the cape. Weird, right?

I honestly believe that Heather Graham is getting better with age, she’s like a fine wine with breasts, every time I see her she’s wearing some sort of tight dress or sexy outfit and looking gorgeous. Let me preface this by stating that I actually really like Heather Graham a lot. She’s a bit nutty, and I envy the hell out of her sleep routine, but I’ve always respected that she never really took the romcom route to instant fame like a few other vacuous blondes like, say, Kate Hudson. Instead, Heather does a lot of indie films and a little bit of arthouse stuff even though a lot of it ends up being junk that goes straight to DVD. Occasionally, she’ll take part in a successful mainstream movie, and people will remember that she exists, which is strange because I find her pretty hard to forget. Maybe that’s because she gets naked a lot.
Anyway, Heather has taken on a very atypical role by appearing as “Awesome Aunt Opal” in the upcoming Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer, which is a children’s movie based upon a series of very successful books and should drum up a fair amount of family-

Pardon me, I just have to rant about this. When People Magazine asked Heather Graham, ?How do you stay so young-looking and beautiful?? Heather replied, “I try to get 11 or 12 hours of sleep a night. It sounds excessive but that’s really what I need. It does the trick.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Yes, Heather looks good, and she could easily pass for more than a decade younger than her real age (she?s 41 years old!). But seriously, 11 or 12 hours of SLEEP? Every night?!? That means that Heather has literally been asleep for HALF of her life.
So here?s my rant: I?ve been a person who struggles with getting enough sleep for a very long time. It started when I was a teenager, it got really bad in college, and I still struggle with weeks and months of intermediate insomnia to this day. Drinking helps, honestly. If I have a cocktail before bed, I can get a decent night?s sleep. But I haven?t been drinking lately, and so my sleep pattern has been all out of wack. When someone like Heather just tosses off ?oh, I sleep 12 hours a day? my mind is boggled. How can you do that? Really, I want to know! My body?s internal clock starts screaming ?GET UP SLUT? around six a.m., no matter if I?ve just gone to bed at two a.m. Maybe it?s because I?m neurotic? I lay in bed and think about all of the crap I have to do. Maybe Heather doesn?t have that problem. Because she rarely works, and thus, she rarely has anxiety.
I don?t even remember the last time I got more than eight hours of sleep, honestly. Must be nice. I would love to have that kind of rest occasionally.
