Gearing up for a fun-filled afternoon, Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie held hands and dashed out of their Los Angeles home yesterday (July 4).
Sporting a yellow low-cut top and slim-fitting jeans, the ?So Yesterday? songstress laughed as she and her husband headed for the car sans Luca while en route to an Independence Day BBQ.
Ms. Duff seemed more confident yesterday than she has in awhile, given that she?s dropped some of her pregnancy weight on her quest to get back into pre-baby shape. ?I?m not perfect but I feel fantastic,? she previously told press.
Hilary also expressed her patriotism with a tweet- ?HAPPY 4th OF JJULY AMERICA!!! What a wonderful country we live in. #freedom.?

Last week some photos came out of new mom Hilary Duff, 24, in a bikini in Mexico with her adorable three month-old baby. You can see those photos here. She looked like she just had a baby, and like she was toned and fit. She looks good to me, and confident, only some people were rude to her because she’s not super tiny already like a supermodel. Hilary has a new interview with In Touch [via The Daily Mail], in which she defends herself against criticism that she hasn’t lost the weight fast enough.
Three months after giving birth to her first child, Hilary Duff says she’s not back to her ideal weight.
But she has hit back against a cascade of mean-spirited chatter which hit the internet last week in response to photographs of the 24-year-old in a bikini.
‘Say it to my face,’ dared the With Love singer.
‘I’m not perfect, but I feel fantastic,’ Hilary told In Touch magazine.
‘This is how it goes for most women – the weight doesn’t fall off overnight.’
The actress and singer told the magazine she has been exercising ‘a few’ times a week, mixing spin classes with private training sessions.
While many of Hilary’s fans were supportive of her wearing a bikini despite her extra post-baby pounds, others were cruel:
‘A month or so ago I was concerned that she wouldn’t even try to lose weight,’ wrote one online critic.
‘Now I’m convinced she doesn’t even care how she looks, gross!’
‘She’s turned into her mother. That happens,’ wrote another.
‘I don’t care what people say. I’m not back to where I want to be, but I’m not stressing it,’ said the Gossip Girl actress.
Hilary began dating NHL player Mike Comrie in 2007.
In February 2010, the couple announced their engagement.
Hilary and Mike married in August 2010 in Santa Barbara, California, and Duff gave birth to their first child, a son Luca Cruz Comrie, on March 20 this year.
In the interview, Hilary says Mike ‘doesn’t care’ about her extra pregnancy weight.

It sounds like Hilary is losing the weight the right way, and that she just adores her son. She tweeted this recent photo of little Luca. His face has filled out and he’s such a cutie! It’s hard to remember that time in my son’s life, but it’s all so precious when they’re little like that. Good for Hilary for focusing on what matters as a new mom.
Also, Star reported a couple of weeks ago that Hilary was offered a nice deal with Weight Watchers to lose her baby weight. We know that Jessica Simpson is doing a $4 million WW deal now and that she’s under the gun to lose the weight. Star quoted an insider who said that Hilary turned it down and that “No amount of money could make [her] put herself under that type of microscope. She’s really pleased with her curves and hates people asking her about her body. Plus, she’s planning to get pregnant again ASAP, so she’s not in some desperate rush to get back to a size zero.” You go Hilary!

Showing off her newest retail therapy partner, Hilary Duff was spotted toting around her adorable son Luca as she shopped in Beverly Hills, CA on Tuesday (June 19).
The 24-year-old first-time momma looked fabulous in a bright yellow top and skinny jeans as she was seen laughing and chatting with friends at Splendid on Robertson Blvd. while her little one contently rested on her chest.
In other news, the former Disney Channel star recently took to her social media page to dodge rumors started from a photo of her over the weekend.
While spending a night out in Los Angeles, Hilary was spotted holding a cigarette which "lit up" quite the commotion. However, it looks like the blonde beauty is a little upset about the photo and tweeted, ?Yikes me holding a cigarette for my friend might have been a bad idea! pretty bummed about the photo.. Sorry guys, looks worst than it is!?

Spending a night without their newborn, Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie were spotted leaving Rock & Reilly's Irish Pub in West Hollywood late Friday evening (June 15).
The happy couple seemed to be having a great time with friends as they stopped to pose for pictures while the blonde beauty showed off her shrinking post-baby body.
In other news, the 24-year-old loves to post pictures of her and baby Luca on Twitter. She recently shared a pic of the little boy looking a bit upset adding the caption, ?I sent my dad this pic and he said 'Luca told me to tell you, you made this oatmeal lumpy, lol he is cute when he's mad."
Just a day later, the former Disney starlet tweeted, ?I should be sleeping but instead I am watching luca break out of his swaddle on the video monitor. so funny...little guy is not giving up?

Closing out the week on the right note, Hilary Duff was on-hand for the Bing Summer of Doing Kickoff at HOLA (Heart of Los Angeles) on Friday (June 1).
Hosted by Bing and DoSomething.org, the charitable fete saw the "Cheaper By the Dozen" actress partake in activities including the creation of a colorful painted mural and a little outdoorsy greenhouse planting.
With fellow celebs including Teresa Palmer, Rachel Leigh Cook, Keke Palmer and Cassie Scerbo also pitching in, Hilary excitedly tweeted prior to getting the fun-filled day underway, "Excited to join @bing and @dosomething today in L.A. for the summer of #doing. Renovating the HOLA center with 50 kid volunteers! #Doing"
Clearly pleased about pitching in on the commendable cause, the 24-year-old new mom messaged at the conclusion of the event, "It's amazing what kids can do! Check out volunteers' work today from the @bing and @dosomething summer of #doing"

Continuing to work on her post baby body, Hilary Duff was seen heading to a pilates class in Studio City, CA on Wednesday (May 30).
The former Disney channel starlet looked ready for the sweat session in black yoga pants and a striped tank top and green top that she paired with bright orange and white sneakers.
It appears that the 24-year-old got in a pretty good workout as she took to her Twitter page writing, ?Thank you @harleypasternak great workout!! Xx?
The pilates afternoon comes just after the new mommy and her hubby Mike Comrie left their little one at home for a fun night out in Sin City.
The pair spent the night partying at Surrender Nightclub in Encore at the Wynn Las Vegas over the weekend where the two celebrated the club?s two year anniversary in the VIP area.
