Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell have been in New York this week to promote their rom-com Anyone But You. There are too many movies with similar-sounding names out right now, or is it just me? Anyway, this film seems utterly forgettable but Sydney?s still trying her best to sell it, bless her heart. Her fiance didn?t come to the premiere, from what I saw. Glen hasn?t been in a relationship since Gigi Paris dumped him for how close he seemed to Sydney. At this point, I?m not sure that Glen and Sydney are happening, but I would absolutely believe that they slept together at some point.
As for Sydney?s premiere look, she wore a Miu Miu dress with a million crystals, plus earrings from Fred Leighton. Sydney is a brand ambassador for Miu Miu and she?s talked about how grateful she is for the extra money and attachment to a major label. All in all, it?s a pretty good fit between actress and brand. While this dress isn?t my favorite thing ever, it suits her and it suits the film promotion. As a fellow big-chested girl, I will say that I admire the fact that Sydney manages to walk that fine line between ?being too covered up? versus ?being too boobs-forward.?
The thing is, when you actually see Glen and Sydney together, their attractiveness sort of cancels out and they just come across as bland, right? Also: I?m adding a bonus photo of Sydney wearing a bonkers ensemble of wide-leg jeans and a matching vest-and-coat look. That was right before the premiere!

Here are more photos from the Venice Film Festival, specifically from the big Bones & All premiere on Friday evening. Lots of big celebrities came out, including Sydney Sweeney. She?s not in the movie, which made me wonder if she was invited to Venice to rep for one of her modeling contracts she models for Miu Miu, and it seemed possible she would have been invited through them. But no I think Armani hired her to come to Venice and wear this nothingburger dress on the carpet. She brought Maude Apatow as her ?date? and Maude also wore Armani. Did they get paid for this or did they just want to come to Venice and Armani jumped at the chance to dress them? I can?t figure it out. Sydney?s dress is so blah, I can?t believe Armani would even invite her all the way to Italy to wear THIS.
It?s possible Sydney just wanted to change the subject, since people many of them her fans are still worked up over her mom?s birthday photos. The hoedown birthday party featured red hats which mimicked MAGA hats, and at least one dude wore a Blue Lives Matter shirt. So now everyone knows that people around Sydney are probably pretty MAGA. Speaking of, Buzzfeed did a piece about how one of Sydney?s main Twitter fan accounts wants to get out of the Sydney Sweeney business and sell the account. It?s caused dramz in the Sweeney-fandom.

I didn?t know much about Sydney Sweeney?s family and her personal life until I covered her Hollywood Reporter cover interview this summer. Sydney?s parents moved to LA when she was just a kid to help her start her acting career. For years, as a child, she was the breadwinner of her family. Even now, I believe she supports her parents financially. Well, Sydney?s mom celebrated her 60th birthday over the weekend and Sydney threw her mom a surprise party. The theme of the party was country/western hoedown. People wore cowboy hats, fringe, cowboy boots, etc. They rode a mechanical bull and danced and had fun.
Nice story, right? Wrong. In addition to free jean jackets, there was another party gear item: red hats which looked suspiciously like MAGA hats. Only the hats read ?Make Sixty Great Again.? From a distance, that sh-t looked like a Trump convention. Not only that, one of the party guests wore a stupid ?Blue Lives Matter? shirt. Hoedown, indeed. So after Sydney and her brother posted photos from the MAGA hoedown (sorry), people were like ?WTF? and ?we thought you were an ally, damn, Sydney,? Sydney posted this to Twitter:
You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone and Happy Birthday Mom!
