I?ll admit it, I was intrigued by the first ?trailer? for The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson. I enjoyed seeing emo guyliner Bruce Wayne, and I am curious about how they?re going to do the ?Batman: Master Detective? thing. But I also feel like this production is cursed! They were filming The Batman in England in February and March, but they had to shut down the production because of the pandemic. Then Rob went into isolation in London, and he apparently didn?t keep up with his fitness for the role whatsoever. Then, days after the production came back, Rob tested positive for the virus. That was several weeks ago. Rob is back, and the production is back.
These photos are from yesterday, where the production has moved to Liverpool to shoot exteriors. Liverpool as Gotham? Sure, why not. I have a question: is Rob wearing a Bruce Wayne wig or does his hair actually look like that now? I feel like it?s a really bold styling choice to make Bruce Wayne look like he has a ?90s Skater Boi haircut, complete with a terrible dye job. YIKES! The feel of this IS very emo-goth-?90s, right?
Meanwhile, this is apparently Colin Farrell as the Penguin. I? don?t believe it? The photos are 100% labeled ?Colin Farrell.? Why is Rob?s styling so bad and yet Colin?s facial prosthetics are so high-quality? Is all of the money going to Colin?s stuff? And sorry, whenever I see a young, handsome actor take on a role where he has to wear a huge amount of prosthetics, I ALWAYS think ?wouldn?t it be easier to just cast someone else?? Paul Giamatti is just sitting there, you know? (I love Giamatti as an actor, but dude would have been in the makeup chair for maybe 20 minutes as the Penguin.)

Variety has been working with I Heart Radio?s podcast to provide content for the Emmy season, which will probably be kind of sad anyway (the Emmy season, I mean). Zoe Kravitz is getting some heat I guess for her Hulu show High Fidelity, and maybe she?ll end up with an Emmy nomination for it. Thus, she took part in Variety?s podcast. She ended up chatting about all kinds of things, including High Fidelity and her gender-switch lead character, Robert Pattinson as Batman and how she actually thinks she was very unstylish as a kid. Some highlights:
On the ?Rob? character in High Fidelity: ?When I watched this movie and read this book years ago, I always identified with the Rob character, but I romanticized him. And then, of course, looking back you?re like, this guy?s an ahole. He?s a misogynist ahole. Why would I think that was cool, and why did I think that was sexy, and why did I think that was interesting? To come back and play his character from a different point of view, it wasn?t like, ?Oh, I?m playing this really cool, sad, f?ed up person who just can?t get it together. And we love that about her.? It was more, ?I think I was this person at one point in my life. I?d like to think that I?m past that now. It?s these really uncomfortable growing pains when you have to figure out who you want to be.
Her style really wasn?t cool: ?One of my best friends the other day started sending me all these old photos from 2005. It really sent me into this crazy spiral because I thought we looked really cool at the time, and looking at these photos, I was just like, ?Dude, what? What?? My friend said, ?I think we were playing a game where we would get dressed in the dark with no mirror. And then anytime we caught our reflection anywhere, we would take a shot.? It just looked so messy.
Being 31 & married: ?I?m married, and less bad choices ? I would like to think. You know, life is an ongoing struggle, so of course, there?s always work to be done. But there?s that first step where it?s like, I?m an adult. Oh wait, I have so much more work to do.
Whether she?s spoken to the other Catwomen, like Michelle Pfeiffer or Halle Berry: ?I spoke to Michelle. We sat at the same table at the Golden Globes, and I?ve met her a bunch over the years because of David E. Kelley. She?d always been so nice. I had just gotten cast so I was really nervous to be around her, and she was so sweet. She just gave me a big hug and said, ?You?re going to be great.? That was really just amazing. Both Halle and Anne [Hathaway] were really sweet on Instagram and Twitter. [They] sent really sweet, encouraging messages when that was announced. So I feel supported by my girls.
On Robert Pattinson as Batman: ?First of all, he?s just a really good actor. He started out as this kind of teen pop sensation, and then I think we all kind of saw through his work that there was a lot more going on. He?s a really interesting artist, and that is very much Batman in a way. We have the illusion of Bruce Wayne, and then we have Batman in the shadows that has a lot more complicated things going on. So just in that, I think he?s perfect for this role. He can relate in that way, and he looks good in the suit, man. He looks good in the suit. That?s a good jaw line. But he?s just a great actor and he brings so much to everything he does. I think that it?s a really hard role because people are expecting a lot. Also it?s restricting in a lot of ways. You?re wearing the suit, and you can?t see their eyes, and you can only move in a certain way. So you have to get really creative in terms of how can you portray a multidimensional character? He?s way up for the challenge and has really interesting ideas already. I think he?s perfect, perfect casting.

That?s nice that all of the other Catwomen were supportive. Can I just say? I really enjoyed Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. I always felt like ?Justice for Anne?s Catwoman? because there were so many other conversations about that last Nolan-Batman film, but Anne knocked it out of the park. I have a feeling that Zoe?s Catwoman will probably just be? different. I haven?t gotten a real vibe of what this new film will be like, but I bet Zoe and Rob have really great chemistry for some reason (he has great chemistry with most leading ladies).
As for what Zoe said about going back now and re-watching High Fidelity and re-reading the book? yeah. I watched High Fidelity for the first time in like ten years and I was struck by how much sympathy I had for all of his exes as opposed to having sympathy for ?Rob.? It wasn?t that way when I first saw the film in my 20s! It?s really wild to go back and watch those kinds of movies now and see how your perspective has changed so much and how it influences how you read the characters. Rob deserved to be alone, he was terrible.

Here are the last photos from the 2020 Golden Globes, lord what a journey we?ve been on. Is it just me or was this year?s GG ceremony mostly okay? I think I?m getting jaded, because the only thing that really upset me was seeing my nemesis win an award. For this year?s Globes, there wasn?t really one consistent fashion trend either, did you notice that? People wore some tacky, wacky sh-t and some plain sh-t. I hope polka-dots are not on trend this year because? no, I dislike that. Zoe Kravitz wore a variation on two polka-dotted patterns with this Saint Laurent look, which? sucks? Yeah, I?ll say that full on. It sucks. Zoe had her family there though her mom Lisa Bonet wore Fendi, and Jason Momoa wore a muscle shirt under his jacket. It was glorious.

Is anyone out there still questioning the Sparkle-Bat? Earlier this year, Robert Pattinson was announced as the new, millennial Batman in yet another reboot of the franchise. Matt Reeves is directing it and trying to bring some ?Batman: Master Detective? vibes to this version. Reportedly, the emphasis will be about crime and Batman/Bruce Wayne investigating that those crimes committed by? some villain who will probably be played by Jonah Hill. But we needed a ?third heat.? And that third heat is? Zoe Kravitz. She was just cast as Catwoman in The Batman.
?Big Little Lies? star Zoe Kravitz has been tapped to play Catwoman, the antiheroine and sometime love interest of the Caped Crusader, in Matt Reeves? upcoming ?The Batman.? Kravitz will star opposite Robert Pattinson as Batman. Pre-production on the Warner Bros.-DC Comics pic is expected to start this summer. No official start date has been set, although insiders tell Variety that filming could start in late 2019 or early 2020. ?The Batman? is scheduled to hit theaters June 25, 2021.
Reeves, the filmmaker behind the last two ?Planet of the Apes? sequels, took over ?Batman? directing duties from Ben Affleck in January 2017. Affleck departed his role as Batman following ?Justice League,? allowing Reeves to pick his own Bruce Wayne. Reeves? ?Planet of the Apes? collaborator Dylan Clark will produce.

I? like this. A lot. Honestly, Zoe?s name has been floating around for a month or two, there was just a question about whether The Batman would feature Catwoman or not. Zoe is really one of only a handful of younger actresses I would trust with Catwoman. Oh, and I liked Anne Hathaway?s Catwoman too, #NeverForget. I actually thought Anne was the best part of The Dark Knight Rises. Catwoman is usually the best part of any Batman movie. It?s almost like hear me out the world of Gotham is so toxic and male-dominated that any kind of feminine, feline energy automatically becomes the best and most interesting part. And trust that Zoe is more than capable of purring and bringing that Big Kitty Energy.

I always forget that Zoe Kravitz and Karl Glusman are happening. It?s not that they?re super-undercover or anything they get pap?d in New York every so often, and they?ve walked some red carpets together. But I just forget that they?re happening all the time. I always think of Zoe as a single girl, untamed, unwilling to settle down. But she?s totally settled down Karl proposed to Zoe last year, and it turns out that they got secretly married recently.
Surprise! Zo Kravitz and Karl Glusman are secretly spouses, a source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly. The Big Little Lies star, 30, and the Love actor, 31, are ?legally married,? according to the source, but they still plan to have a traditional ceremony in France in June.
The couple were introduced by mutual friends at a bar in 2016 and started dating soon after. Kravitz, who is notoriously private about her personal life, announced in October 2018 that Glusman had quietly proposed to her eight months earlier. ?Oh yeah, I?m engaged. I haven?t told anyone yet. I mean, I haven?t told the world,? she told Rolling Stone at the time. ?He nailed it. And I love that it wasn?t this elaborate plan in Paris. It was at home, in sweatpants.?

Why is everybody getting married in France these days? Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are doing a French wedding too, even though? they?re not super-connected to France? What is Zoe?s connection to France? Karl is an American dude, not a European. I guess it?s just ?fancy rich people want a destination wedding.? But congrats to Zoe and Karl, I do like that they?re lowkey and they seem to adore each other. They?ve been together for a while too, so this isn?t some off-the-wall elopement.
