June 27th was International Pineapple Day. I had no idea that was a thing, but sure, why not? On Thursday?s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos had a little fun and celebrated it. They shared some pineapple trivia, drank pineapple juice, and ate pineapple slices. While they were nibbling on their pineapple slices, Kelly mentioned how much she hates eating on TV. She just thinks its ?weird? to see people eat on screen and really dislikes doing it. In fact, she finds it so uncomfortable that to her, it?s like someone watching her use the restroom. Her hubby is cool with it though!
Apparently, eating on TV is not all it?s cracked up (or cooked up) to be. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos tackled the topic on this morning?s Live with Kelly and Mark ? which was once again previously recorded ? as they kicked off the show by celebrating International Pineapple Day.
After Consuelos rattled off some fun facts about pineapple, and as they enjoyed pineapple slices and pineapple juice in front of the camera and their studio audience, Ripa said, ?The audience doesn?t want to watch us eat.?
?It?s really, you know ? I always say this. Like, you think it?s no big deal to eat on TV, but then try to do it,? she continued. ?It?s really weird, like, it feels like people are watching you go to the bathroom. It?s that same ??
Consuelos chimed in with his perspective, noting that he has ?no issues with it.?
?If you watch the cooking segments here, I?m just eating and eating and eating,? he teased. ?Shamelessly.?
Ripa replied, ?No, as am I, but it looks weird. It?s not, like, it?s not ??
Consuelos offered up, ?Elegant??
Ripa agreed, arguing that ?it?s not as elegant as you think.?
?It?s weird,? she reiterated. ?Everybody looks weird when they eat on TV. If you watch commercials, if you watch food commercials, those are styled by food stylists. And even then, you see people take the bite, but you never really see chewing happen. It?s like a bite, cut away! Cut away.
Consuelos added, ?They spit into the spit bucket.?
Ripa replied, ?The spit bucket, right. There?s a spit bucket,? before asking the audience, ?Did you know that??
Consuelos said, ?Now you do.?

I knew that the food in commercials were styled by food stylists and were not realistic, but I actually had no idea that there was a spit bucket. That makes total sense, though. I?m sorry that Kelly feels so uncomfortable eating on TV. Good thing she gets paid a lot of money to do so! I?d be worried about getting crumbs all over myself in front of everyone or forgetting where I was and talking with a mouth full of food. I don?t think watching anyone eat is elegant, lol, but it?s never super bothered me to see a talk show host or a commercial actor try a bite of food. It?s the full-on food scenes like in Elf where Buddy is eating the pasta with the maple syrup and he?s shoving it in his face that bother me. I don?t love watching those types of scenes. There is one time that I never mind watching someone eat on TV and that?s when the judges do the taste tests on Great British Bake Off. That just mostly makes me envious. I wonder if the hosts of that show use a spit bucket, too.

I sometimes watch those fashion for women over 50 videos on YouTube. Theyre very clickbaity with titles like Avoid these styles that are instantly aging you. A few weeks ago, I watched a video (below) where an influencer around my age called Angela Masson said to avoid capri pants. She conceded that theyre great for hot weather, but pointed out that its more fashionable to wear something like a t-shirt dress or sundress. She made a great point that dresses are both easier to wear and style than capris. After watching that I stopped wearing capris, especially my jean capris because theyre kind of dippy and I wasnt sold on them anyway. They cut your leg off in a weird way and they can look too cutesy. Maybe I can break out my capris again though, because theyre said to be back in for summer. Emma Stone and Reese Witherspoon have been wearing them recently. The timeless fashion icon of our hearts, Princess Diana, wore capris and thats all the convincing I need. I read this article on Today and am quoting them, but multiple fashion blogs like Refinery and Who What Wear have articles on the great capri comeback.
The last time I wore capri pants, it was the early 2000s and I was a gawky teenager (shamelessly) strutting down the halls of my high school. Fast forward to summer 2024: whats old is new again. From the streets of New York City to high fashion runways, capri pants have made a bold resurgence this season, but whats the reasoning behind this new (and improved) fad?
According to celebrity stylist and bestselling author of Dressing Up: Pip?s Truly Fashionable Tale Samantha Brown, many models and influencers have been sporting capri pants for the last few months which has trickled down to mainstream shoppers, she explains. Predictably, capri pants are flattering on models with long and lean body types. They are difficult to style as the cropped length and tight fit tends to cut off the line of your legs, she shares.
Liz Teich, who is the fashion stylist behind The New York Stylist, says its no surprise capris are back as more and more nostalgic trends are at the forefront of fashion. While capris felt dated for a bit, we?re seeing a lot of the styles from the late 90s to early 2000s pop up again, so it?s only natural that they?re making a comeback as well, Teich suggests.

Unlike this author, as Ive admitted I wore capri pants up until recently. Theyre easy and less hot than full length jeans (and I sometimes still wear skinnies, but Ive cut way back I swear). Theres definitely a difference between capri jeans and linen capris or legging capris. Jeans are less forgiving, style-wise, and clam digger jeans can look goofy. Everyone should wear what they want, but I want to look in style somewhat and not seem clueless. Also theres a difference between what a celebrity can get away with and how the rest of us can dress. One hill I will die on, though, is that cargo pant capris are very rarely flattering.

One week ago, Prince William took two of his kids backstage before Taylor Swift?s Eras concert. We?ve been talking about this all week, and I swear, more ink might have been spilled over this than the Princess of Wales?s grand return after a six-month absence. While backstage, William and the kids took a selfie with Taylor. They also met Travis and Jason Kelce, although Kensington Palace didn?t include the Kelces in the photo they posted. The Kelces didn?t care they declared William to be ?the coolest motherfker,? and praised ?superstar? Princess Charlotte. It was wild to see Jason Kelce go from ?fk kings? to ?I love royals? within a matter of days. Well, it?s more than likely that the Kelce brothers will also attend the ESPYs in two weeks. Prince Harry will be there to pick up the Pat Tillman Award for Service. So? that?s the angle the Sun is going with, ?will it be awkward for the newly royalist Kelces to meet Prince Harry??? LMAO.
Prince Harry is set to come face to face with Taylor Swift?s boyfriend Travis Kelce after the NFL star hit it off with his estranged brother William. The Duke of Sussex will be honoured with the Pat Tillman Award for Service for his Invictus Games work at the glittering ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on July 11. The ESPYs, the Oscars of American sport, are likely to set up an interesting moment with Kelce, who sources say has been invited to the ceremony. Kelce?s Kansas City Chiefs are nominated for best team of the year and his pal and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is up for best male athlete.
Kelce described William as ?the coolest motherf**ker? after posing for a selfie with him, Prince George and Princess Charlotte at Swift?s gig at Wembley last weekend. He also said that ?no other Prince? is doing it like William, which some took to be a subtle dig at Harry.
Swift has history with the Sussexes too after she declined to appear on Meghan?s Archetypes podcast last year. Meghan is expected to join Harry at the star-studded event, hosted by the couples close friend and tennis ace Serena Williams.
A source said Harry will likely be just feet away from Kelce, adding: ?It could be interesting given how much Travis hit it off with William. Travis is like the most sociable, happy go lucky, kind person in any room and is sure to want to say hello to the Prince and interact with the Sussexes. That is his style, and honestly he is one of the biggest names in US sport. For Harry it could be a potentially awkward encounter given that Travis spoke so warmly about and praised William. This will make headlines no matter what happens. If Harry ducks Travis that would look weird and if they chat the question will be whether they discussed William.

They think that Travis saying nice things about William means that he?s ?taken a side? in the Windsors? blood feud against the Sussexes, and that Harry would avoid the Kelces? They literally think everyone is as dumb and petty as William, don?t they? If Travis goes to the ESPYs (he likely will, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl after all), he will probably be happy to meet the Sussexes and H&M will be happy to meet him too. Because none of that Salt Island sh-t actually matters. And William wishes he was the topic of conversation, just as William wishes that an American football player would take ?his side.?
